Solar Return Observation (Saturn Edition)

Saturn in 6H being more responsible in your day-to-day life. Sometimes you feel like you have to drag yourself to do the simplest thing. The year when you may start living alone (like literally alone, no friends, relatives, etc). Difficulty in getting a job, or the year when you work for a role which doesn't fit your expectation. Maybe even being responsible of animals, pets, health, coworkers, etc. An overall dreaded feeling in day-to-day. The beauty of this placement is that it reminds you to cherish the most basic thing in your life, like stuff that you may took for granted before.

Saturn in 9H can literally mean facing obstacles in higher education. The experiment may failed, the data may be missing, the theory may be wrong. The people you're working with can be difficult. Since Saturn demands effort, you have to be disciplined and work consistently to finish all that has been started. A lot of philosophical or theoretical contemplation. Also challenges while living abroad, or having responsibilities in foreign country.

Saturn in 11H feeling of unbelonging, lost of community, feeling of isolation and loneliness. Almost like you have lost your tribe, feeling of not fitting in places. The placement overlay to your natal placement may give out the main reason of this event. Aquarius also speaks about embracing your unique self, networking, and taking part in your environment/community.

Saturn in Pisces this placement puts you in situation that exercise your empathy. Use your intuition, your feelings. Get in tune with your spiritual sides. Saturn asks you to be giving, give out unconditional love, but also do not forget your boundary. You can be kind, but don't lose yourself for other people.

Saturn Retrograde is the time when it gets especially difficult for you to change the situation. You may not realize that you've made it or you've nailed the lesson. 👾 some of my best sr years have been the years where i’ve had the same sr venus as my natal

👾 looking at the persona chart of your profected year lord can give you a lot of insights for the year ahead i’ve found

👾 chiron on the mc (both solar or natal x solar) shows a year of yearning for something very badly (most likely to be career/goal/experience related)

👾 having positive mercury-saturn aspects (including conjunction depending on sign) is a year where you are on top of your shit, maybe you feel like you conversations with others are thwarted in some way but better than most you’re preparing for something bigger, plans, plans, PLANS!!

👾 saturn conjunct mercury is a really interesting aspect actually for a solar return. it maybe harder to categorize and to process the world around you in a productive way, but you may also learn new subjects/wisdom.

👾 having venus at 28 degrees can indicate an exciting love/crush/relationship happening for that year

👾 moon at 29 degrees can show that from that year on out you will approach life from a very different mindset to what you had before. this mindset can last for a year or your entire life but either way it’s an anaretic degree so BIG STUFF! the sign can show what mindset you’re “ending” (ex: i had moon at 29 degrees in taurus in 2020 and from that year on out i really prioritized productivity and worked to stop my lazy/indulgent habits)

👾 planets at 20 degrees and what house those planets are in can show what themes/events prove to be very mystical or witchy that year. (ex: i had mars and neptune at 20 degrees with mars in the 7th and neptune in the 11th and that year i got back with my old friend group out of random chance and went on my first date with someone from that group😭😭 not me telling you guys my life tea. dating within friend groups is weird and would not recommend btw! but to each their own🩷)

👾 planets at the 1st degree + their houses show where you’re ambitious and what you desire, expect lots of action in these areas

👾 1st house ruler in 1st (aka your chart ruler in one of its domicile places) may mean that your by yourself or more alone, but most likely NOT in a bad way!! (self-care, self-improvement, reflection, etc…). check other houses that the planet rules to see what other important themes are emphasized that year (ex: libra venus in 1st house —> 8th house themes are important as well because taurus rules over the 8th)

👾 going off from the previous observation, planets in angular houses (1, 4, 7, 10) will ALWAYS be prominent throughout your year especially if they’re in domicile/exaltation/detriment/fall.

👾 a lot of celebrities have gotten big time famous the year where they had their 11th house in their 11th (ex: megan thee stallion, doja cat, billie eilish, etc…)

👾 just a tip, but make persona charts of your solar planets! if you don’t know how, go to astro.com, charts and calculations, extended chart selection, blue plus sign in the top right corner then fill out info from your solar return chart. after making this, click the “natal chart” tab, scroll down to “persona chart” :)

👾 jupiter/sagittarius in the 3rd or jupiter-mercury aspects show a lot of activity for the year ahead. fire/air = adventurous/fun activity, water/earth = self-growth/learning related (but arguably the themes can overlap), mercury in the third house is also indicative of a busy year!

👾 when i had mars in my natal 12th house last year i stayed up souper late almost every night regardless of weekend/weekday

Solar Return Charts - what do they mean?

A reader asked me: "I really want to know more about Solar Returns charts. Are they predictors? Are they outlines? How can I read my own chart? How can I use it for my next year?"

Solar Return charts can be seen as prediction charts, but without determinism, in the sense of "this will definitely happen, there's no escaping it." It's a type of chart with very strong tendencies for the next year, which is why it's so valid to look at it to understand your personal year.

*SR = Solar Return

How to use it: Well, not everything in the Solar Return chart necessarily needs to be deeply explored, as not everything will manifest in our personal year (or if it does, it may represent subtle points that we won't notice).

So, here are some tips on what to focus on:

-> The Ascendant of the SR chart, which will represent your primary approach for that year. The Ascendant represents your behaviors for the year, how you will deal with the year, your temperament, and your energy to initiate things.

Example: Aries rising in SR chart means a great desire to achieve - unless other points directly conflict with this -, energy to act, to lead, the temperament becomes more impatient, the year seems more hectic, because from the inside this is how you are manifesting yourself . from the negative side, means stress, anxiety, immediacy, impatience, intensity; on the positive side, energy to act, assertiveness, willingness to get out of place, focus on achieving and having independence.

-> See which areas of your life (natal chart) will be most affected by the Solar Return. Do this by comparing SR chart with your natal chart.

What aspects exist between them?

my sr chart observations

not a professional astrologer !!!

i love reading about sr charts as i feel like you can have a peek at what will happen to you with your solar return year <3 so these are just my own observation and interpretation about my sr chart last year and what happened to me.

i don't know if this is a coincidence or what but i had a gemini moon and taurus mars in the 10th house and all of them had tense aspects in my sun and MC and i happen to graduate a few months after my birthday and i was actually super excited but at the same time get anxiety with the job hunting process. my mindset shifts a LOT, one time i'm believing in myself and next i'm now having impostor syndrome then will go on to improve myself again and the cycle begins.

my virgo mercury in 2nd house also did not help with that lmao, i am so hard on myself most of the time. and i feel like my self-worth this year fluctuates a LOT but leaning toward a more negative side.

my love life is NON EXISTENT this year with my leo venus in 10th house lmao. But I did talk to a few people here and there but I mostly push and pull with the communication bit. my hopeless romantic ass also came back and i daydreamed a lot about romantic relationships.

I learned a lot about myself by having the sun in the 1st house. i did have a lot of energy to know and take care of myself more and I did venture with a lot of projects (that I did not finish lol)

with saturn in the 7th house, i noticed that my long-term relationships with my family and friends really strengthened. i met a lot of my friends before and did talk a lot about the hard times of being a first-time adult in the real world.

pluto capricorn in the 6th house really changed my routine in 180 a lot of times. I had a time wherein I sleep at 5 am but also times when my routine starts at 7 AM lmao. But I kinda enjoy it just to have a new routine and kinda easy for me to change them (almost all of my planets trine with my pluto.) I also notice that I am very hardworking when it comes to work (1st time lol) but still know how to take my ground and set boundaries with my mars in 10th house this year. I am also surrounded by hardworking people.

i have an earth grand trine that is on the 2nd, 6th, and 10th houses. Those are the houses that had a lot of impact on me this year with the first time job hunting and thinking about how to handle money, switching routines, self-improvement, and self-worth issues.

having uranus in the 9th house, I was traveling a lot this year with my fam and friends. discovered new places and experience a lot of first-times! i also became more open-minded about people's beliefs and try to understand the environment that they're coming from.

when reading a solar return chart, i always look at chiron’s placement. chiron can tell you where you’ll be struggling the most that year.

chiron never fails to give you a hard lesson, you cannot go against the lessons chiron has prepared for you. although this seems tough, once the pain and grief is experienced, you’ll be gifted with strength.

chiron in the first house

issues with self-identity. chiron in the first house can experience negative comments towards appearance and/or personality leading low self esteem. there can be an overall negative approach to life, a lack of optimism.

chiron in the second house

issues with material possessions. chiron in the second house can lead to tricky financial situations or just possessions stolen, this can cause a lot of physical and mental stress. there can also be issues in the work environment, things may be stressful.

Mercury square Jupiter in the SR chart can indicate a period when there are so much mental process you have to catch up. Times where you find learning to be overwhelming. Communication can be a bit frustrating. Exaggeration is common, may not even come from you yourself.

Mercury square Neptune Changed perspective. Exploring new belief. Things you read are easily absorbed into your subconscious, so you may be prone to indoctrination even though it's something radically different from what you've always believed. Loss of faith. Highly imaginative period. Time when you want to live your own world. You may have heightened will to read and write to escape reality. The mind is full of fiction and fantasy.

Mercury conjunct Moon There's an urge to understand your emotions. You'll try to dissect what you feel, why you feel that way, what are the triggers, etc. Journaling your feelings out. Pay attention to house placement because the topic is closely tied to house position. Depending on the sign, you'll find Mercury/Moon to be more dominant in characteristic. I had this aspect in Gemini, so Mercury is more dominant. I ended up relying more on logic to process the feelings.

Mercury conjunct Lilith A period when you are shamed/gossiped/belittled for your skills, communication, and intelligence. Someone may try to bring you down by speaking badly or harshly to you, just to make you feel more inferior. They try to point out your weaknesses. Sarcasm. Insecurities about intelligence, communication, or competence are also common. Depending on the sign, things play out differently (e.g. Cancers being shamed for being too sensitive/passive).

Mercury conjunct IC Times when you communicate a lot to your family & roots. Having flashbacks about old arguments. Realizing things about your family & home. Old communication pattern resurfacing. Talking about old memories, the past, and the hidden story of your roots. Figuring out the truth of your childhood. Finding the truth about what had happened to your home, family, or roots.

Mercury opposite Pluto realizing the power of the words. I feel like this is the period when your words are powerful, maybe influential. You know exactly how communication works. You'll realize how words can affect people, which you can use for manipulation; but at the same time, native have may struggle to find balance in communication. An inner conflict. Ability to sniff out manipulation. Sharpened intuition. Alertness. Period when it's hard for you to trust people, so you are being more cautious. Hurtful words and argument are possible. You may be a bit stubborn than usual.
