Battle of the Ships
Round 2 Part 4 Poll 1
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Per Aspera : It’s a ship with several large masts with kind of magic sails.
SS Linebeck : Belongs to Linebeck. He transports Link in the game. The ship is customizable.

Commentary on the update? 🥺
YEAHH
i sketched this page forgetting that the SS Linebeck was gonna be visible at the dock and even went to the trouble of drawing the other side of Outset in the distance on one of the panels before i realized HAHA and then proceeded to grudgingly draw the side of the ship over and over
sorry about the lack of Ayrll lines, there just wasn't much opportunity with everything else I needed to get through this update. we'll see more of her I promise o7
i was convinced to keep the "he frow up" and "link's fuckass sword" gags in so i'm glad everyone's enjoying those HAHA
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The waterfall BG in the panel of Tetra recognizing the sword is the same one as the stone Ganondorf from pt. 3. You might also notice that tiny Wake from Tetra's last memory of the sword has a bloody eye. Wonder how that happened
Everyone joking abt Linebeck rizzing Gran Gran last update I was like wait. just wait
Lots of ppl interpreted Slate introducing himself as Link as him not getting the social cue, which I think is a great way to interpret it lol. but also consider: he totally noticed and just decided not to lie anyway.
I tried to fill gran gran's house with pictographs Wake might have taken and little gifts Wake might have brought back for her from his adventures (within reason, all these backgrounds were a lot of work HAHA). There's Wake and Ayrll on Ice Ring Isle, and Gran Gran's even got her own korok pinwheel!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
that's all!! this was a fun update, I love reading everyone's comments :-)

Everyone makes fun of Linebeck for his crate. And I will agree, it's a ridiculous concept at first- a grown man hiding away in a crate to get away from his crazy ex-lover, while a random kid fights her.
But what if we're thinking about the crate all wrong. What if the original purpose of the crate is not for Jolene, but for miniblins?
Ok, so- in game there are only 8 ships piloted by hylians. We have imposter wind-waker (1), brother of the imposter wind-waker (2), Beedle (3), Jolene (4), the old wayfarer (5), the merchants in the SE sea (6), the Man of Smiles (7), and the SS Linebeck (8). Everything else is pirate ships piloted by hordes of miniblins.
Most people will first see Linebeck use the crate as a hiding spot when you fight Jolene. And this is probably where the seed gets planted that the crate is solely for Jolene's visits comes from. But, he uses that exact same crate when the miniblins board your ship.
Now, you can beat the entire game (not at 100%, but still beat it) without ever once having the miniblins board your vessel, so I don't blame people for forgetting that this is a thing they can do- especially when you have to try to even get them to board your ship.
But I think even more telling evidence is what happens when you encounter a vessel that's been overrun by the monsters.
The most common vessel to see this happen is in the 2nd vessel mentioned. On this vessel, you board the ship to see miniblins abound, and the ship's captain face-down on the floor. After you defeat all the miniblins, you talk to the guy and find out he's-thankfully- still alive, and he may just give you a treasure or two for your troubles.
You leave, and forget about it- but if you ever sail back to that ship, you'll find it overrun again. And this dude is, once again, face down on the floor.
The point being- I think playing dead is a legitimate strategy that most of the people still sailing use to fool the miniblins into leaving them alone. Linebeck, however, has found a way to avoid the threat of pitchforks being jabbed at him if he accidentally moves, and has just started hiding in a crate.
This is in character for him as, even when you first start sailing with him, there is no offensive capabilities on the vessel, whatsoever. He just has a jump mechanic too help him run away more effectively. If Linebeck truly is more of a runner than a fighter, I 100% believe he would use the "play dead" method over fighting the things any day.
Now, most people think Linebeck is a coward who lets Link do all his fighting- and while the fighting part is true, I would like to remind everyone of the fact that only 8 vessels are still in the water, and his ship is one of them. He would not be one of the only ones left if he was just a coward and dumb. And I don't believe he's alone in the "play dead" method either.
I actually believe the only person actively fighting the miniblins is Jolene- everyone else either plays dead, has attack crows that stop any miniblins wearing anything shiny from boarding, or keeps them locked in a cellar for gods know what reason.
But, when it comes to Jolene boarding the ship- well, he already has a crate good for hiding in during most other pirate attacks, why wouldn't it work on his ex? You know, the girl who likes to dress up like a pirate.
And, I mean, it technically does work. It stops her from attacking him right away, and allows the player to distract her until she gets bored enough to leave. We only find out she caught on because she outright tells us she knows where he's hiding during the last encounter.
But this is just another thought on a growing pile of "Linebeck wasn't really cowardly, he was just a normal guy- if not smarter than average- who we were constantly told was cowardly by the literal Spirit of Courage, who was traveling along with the former holder of the Triforce of Courage. There could not have been a more skewed judge of his character."

Legend of Zelda Fighting Game
Saw a video about this topic and decided to take my own spin on the concept. Rules of selection are as follows. Link, Zelda, and Gannondorf are all original versions to this roster. All other characters come from different games in the Zelda timeline. I put a limit of 2 per link(Some Links are playable across multiple games, so this was used to help narrow down roster needs and diversify selection.) There are two exceptions. Darunia: because my own rules erased the ability to get a named Goron on the roster, Darunia being the most popular slotted him in. Sidon: because of Darunia, the Link of OoT/MM got three characters. Since BotW/TotK are also extremely popular I allowed a third character to help balance out the roster.
Link
Zelda
Gannondorf
Impa(SS)
Ghirahim(SS)
Zant(TP)
Midna(TP)

Darunia(OoT)

🏔🧚‍♀️😤 for the asks?
🗻 If you were in a Zelda game, where would you live? What would you be doing? (aside from being the hero or princess)
Ooh! Such a good question! I think I would be an NPC who lived in Hateno, but was a traveling historian intent on finding out more about the calamity 10,000 years ago, and uncovering who the champions were 100 years ago. I’d quite like to be the NPC who gives you lots of fun tidbits of info on other characters, as a result.
Like if I ask for 200 of a certain item, I’ll tell you about something. Maybe every item has a secret. The silent princesses has a secret about Zelda, but an intimate one, like her favourite time of day or where she would go to escape her duties or what she wished she could do or something.
Maybe all the flowers have what the champions loved or enjoyed. If you give enough Swift Violets I could tell you about the love princess Mipha had for Link, or enough cool Saffinas and you would find out about Revali’s love (platonic or romantic) for his best friend or another NPC who is never mentioned again.
It would be the plot bunny fanfic gold mine dialogue, everything would be fun little facts about characters, mostly the champions, but on occasion in the research, I would find out about Teba’s allergy to Amaranth pollen, or Sidon’s favourite meal or something, and it would be different for every item. Maybe a bit like the korok quests but for lore.
🧚 Favorite Zelda companion?
That is so hard!!! Linebeck is awesome and so is Midna, but I really love Fi. If the champions count then its an easy win for them, but if not, I think because Fi influenced some of Botw and was so sweet (albeit annoying sometimes) in SS, I’ll have to go for Fi. It’s very close though. I love all the companions.
😤 Any Zelda-related Pet Peeves?
Honestly I think one would be the lack of the clawshot in Botw, I loved that thing! Another would be how repetitive Fi was in SS. I think my most hated mechanic (and therefore pet peeve) would be timed missions. They’re so hard!
I also find the fact you can’t change which thing you’re looking at (aka missions vs plot-missions vs cooking etc) on the AoC map a little annoying. There’s so much to look at (YEY theres a lot to do and I love the game) but also. There’s so much to look at (I can’t concentrate and am getting overwhelmed).
Thank you so much for the ask this was so much fun!!

*busts down door* IM BACK WITH QUESTIONS ABOUT SHIFTING SANDS
1.) is Sky dating his Zelda? Or does he still have a massive schoolyard type crush on her?
2.) Was Wind with Linebeck before he got taken or was he with Tetra or his family? Is Wind around the age he is in LU (13-14?) or is he different in ur and?
4.) will…will we see rabbit legend please i begg /j 🙏🙏
5.) if you can say without spoiling anything, what time period is the group in when in Sky’s era (ie, before Sky’s adventures, after, during etc)
*GETS WOKEN UP BY YOU BUSTING DOWN MY DOOR*
*Half asleep* Whot ?? Why are you in my house !?
You wanna hear about my Headcanons? Why did you have to break my door ?!! >:(
1) THEY’RE MARRIED! Shortly after they settled Impa village on the surface they had a small ceremony! They swore to protect the triforce together. Their full names are now Link and Zelda “of Hylia”
2) Wind was on Outset island fishing with Aryll (a sunday tradition for the siblings after Grandma’s passing) when he saw something glimmer underwater. He jumped in and never came back up… In SS Wind is around 15 and he’s just recently finished his quest in Oshus’ realm!
3) The others don’t know about it shhhhh! Legend might use it if need be…
4)IT’S ACTUALLY IMPORTANT FOR THE PLOT! SO NO. sorryyyy

Battle of the Ships
Round 1 Part 4 Poll 4
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Description for the Temeraire : He's a uuhhhhhhh dragon. Almost guaranteed to not be qualified, but I figured I'd take a shot for him; forgive me for the time-wasting.
While he's more of a 'plane' technically I guess, his captain is a navy captain, he's named after the original ship 'Temeraire', and something like 75% at least of the books takes place on/around navy ships... Plus he likes swimming so I guess in a way he's a sea-faring vessel??
As far as looks go; big-ass black dragon.
Propaganda for the Temeraire : This ship has Opinions and hates racists and Napoleon Bonaparte.
Description for The Legend of Zelda's Ghost Ship : i dont know if the ghost ship from Wind Waker and the one from Phantom Hourglass are the same, but i like to think they are. it was an oddity in WW but fully fleshed out in PH. it also looks much cooler in PH. it phases between two worlds (the normal world and the World of the Ocean King). it draws people in with rumors of treasure, then traps them and drains their life force. it acts as a dungeon about halfway through the game, then you fight it at the end (but the SS Linebeck gets destroyed too after the battle)
Note : I can't help but admire the audacity/optimism of some of you (/lh). It won't work everytime but I needed 64 ships, so...

Tumblr media
Yeah I like this character a normal amount (makes an AU, makes an AU, makes an AU, makes-
More art + information under the cut <3
Note that bc I'm a Jolbeck shipper a lot of these AUs feature the ship.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Villainbeck! Instead of being motivated by greed, Linebeck is motivated by power. Unfortunately, he's also a massive coward and not very strong. This leads him to make a deal with Bellum in exchange for more power, turning him into a permanent Bellumbeck (but unlike canon Bellumbeck, he's not fully possessed. Bellum is more like a parasite). The catch? Bellum is constantly draining his life force, and he has to lure other sailors to their demise to feed to Bellum in his place, with the hopes that it will slow down the process. He's the captain of the Ghost Ship, but he falls overboard with Link during the beginning of PH before he's able to give him and Tetra to Bellum. His coat hides Bellum on his back, so Link is none the wiser for the majority of the story. His cowardice is an act in order to make Link let his guard down and bring him back to the Ghost Ship so he can finish the job.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This one is technically two different AUs that both feature Linebeck as a werewolf. The first centers around Linebeck, a cowardly merchant just trying to stay under the radar, and Jolene, a hunter who's determined to finally bring down the wolfman that's been terrorizing the area every month. She makes a promise to protect Linebeck, which is only a problem due to the fact that unbeknownst to her, he is also the wolfman she's sworn to kill. Whoops.
The second on is much more straightforward. It's werewolf Linebeck and vampire Jolene.
Tumblr media
This one is just Linebeck as a furry okay what more do you want from me.
Tumblr media
And this one is just Hanahaki disease. Also straightforward.
Tumblr media
Personality Swap! Linebeck is the capable but harsh pirate while Jolene is the cowardly sailor with a bit of an ego. Not a roleswap, so Linebeck is still Link's companion throughout the events of PH, he's just a lot more helpful since he can actually handle himself in a fight.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kidbeck! This one is a bit more complex to explain. Linebeck gets turned the same age as Link by whatever magical entity your heart desires in order to teach him a lesson about the way he treats him. What the lesson is supposed to be, he has no idea, but he can't turn back until learns it. He gets separated from Link and found by...Jolene, who doesn't recognize him and he's determined to keep it that way. Unfortunately, she's not to keen on helping him get back to the SS Linebeck due to her grievances against the captain. She just doesn't know that this kid she's pouring her heart out / complaining about him to is actually the captain himself, who is rethinking everything he thought he knew about why she was mad at him in the first place. He just wants to get turned back to normal so he can figure this whole mess out.

Is Linebeck in the LP au?
I haven't planned for him to be directly in the storyline although Wind has already been on his adventure on the SS Linebeck during which Linebeck was somewhat of a father figure to him.
