You hadn’t been entirely sure what was happening, one minute you were fighting back to back with Commander Grazer, a dozen more clones fighting around you until the droid army was in pieces. It had been a long battle and you were panting by the end of it, exhausted and desperately praying that Obi-Wan was winning his own battle on Utapau.
When you turned around to check on your men you froze as you came face to face with a blaster and Commander Grazer’s face showing his conflicting emotions as his arm shook slightly. You had just been about to open your mouth when you glanced around and saw the others all had their guns upright and steadily pointed directly at you.
“What is this?” You asked as you reignited your lightsaber, not wanting to use it against the men under your command.
“Execute Order 66!” Commander Grazer said and suddenly there were blaster shots being fired at you from every direction, you just about managed to jump out of the way, using the Force to push the clones aside as you used your lightsaber to deflect as many shots as you could.
The ships were a good few klicks away and you had a full battalion following after you as you darted away from their shots, desperately trying not to get hit. It didn’t help that the planet’s terrain was steep and uneven, full of hills and cliffs.
One of the clones managed to get close enough to try and grab you but when you pushed back, using the Force to push him away you ended up sending yourself tumbling down one of the deep hills, wincing as you felt sharp rocks slicing your robe, some deep enough to pierce your skin.
By the time you had stopped falling your hands were cut, bruises would definitely form and you could feel blood sticking to your shirt. You didn’t have time to stop though, blaster shots were still coming from above and you could see the clones making their way down towards you.
As you ran towards the ships you pressed at your comm but it had taken a hit during your fall and there was no way to get in touch with anybody to see what was happening. You couldn’t even fathom what was happening, these clones, those men had become more than just soldiers under your command, they had turned into friends, family, you fought side by side with them every day. For them to just turn so suddenly didn’t make sense.
You ran until your sides hurt, until the cuts and bruises ached painfully and your feet begged for a break, you pressed on and eventually saw the ships in the distance. The clones were still behind you but you had put a fair bit of distance between you and them, twisting and turning here and there, but every so often a blaster bolt would shoot past you forcing you to run faster.
By the time you actually got to the ships you felt about ready to pass out, the battle that had tired you out to begin with felt like it had happened in another lifetime. You knew you had less than a minute to get on a ship and off the planet before the clones were in their own ships trying to shoot you down.
Somehow you managed it though, jumping into hyperspace just as the clones came into view. You had quickly typed in the coordinates for Coruscant but once you were in hyperspace you figured that might not be the best plan, you weren’t sure just how widespread this thing was with the clones since your comm had broken.
You pressed a few more buttons on the ship before a voice came through, a voice you recognised well and had you sighing in relief to hear but then you registered his words and felt your blood turn cold.
“This is Master Obi-Wan Kenobi. I regret to report that both our Jedi Order and the Republic have fallen, with the dark shadow of the Empire rising to take their place. This message is a warning and a reminder for any surviving Jedi. Trust in the Force. Do not return to the Temple.”
The Jedi Order had fallen along with the Republic? How could that possibly be the case when just hours before you and Obi-Wan had parted ways with every intent to have the war finished when you saw each other again.
You keyed in Obi-Wan’s private comm number and felt your fear worsen when there was no reply after more than a dozen attempts to contact him. You prayed to the Force he was safe, you knew to get his message out he would have to have gone back to the Temple. Your mind kept trying to conjure every scenario, every bad thing that could have happened to Obi-Wan but you tried to do as he instructed, you had to trust in the Force.
You were still heading toward Coruscant and knew that you had to change course, you were still a few days out but didn’t want to be anywhere near the planet, it was too dangerous. You needed a new destination but had no idea where was safe.
You wanted Obi-Wan.
With Obi-Wan not answering his comm you moved onto other people who might know something. Anakin was your next call but you had a bad feeling, he had been on Coruscant and whatever had happened with the clones with you it was clearly happening on Coruscant too and when Anakin didn’t answer you tried desperately to shut your mind off. You tried Padmé after that, she was also on Coruscant but she would have been rushed away from the danger and yet she too failed to answer.
You felt sick to your stomach, whatever was happening on Coruscant must have been deadly, the Empire had taken over and you just hoped your friends were safe.
You tried one more person, praying and begging with the Force to let this call connect because you didn’t know what you were supposed to do if it didn’t.
“Y/N?” A voice exclaimed startling you back to reality, eyes snapping open to look at the holo in front of you. “You’re alive!”
“Bail.” You breathed out, tears stinging your eyes and you barely choked back a sob at finally getting through to somebody. “Thank the Force, I tried everyone but nobody is answering. What’s going on?”
Bail looked down, a grief stricken look on his face that had you even further on edge. You weren’t sure you wanted to know the answer.
“How much do you know?” He asked you instead of answering your question, he wasn’t quite sure he could tell you.
“I got Obi-Wan’s message.” You told him after taking a deep breath, your mind still running wild and Bail’s avoidance didn’t help. “I know the Order and the Republic have fallen, I know the clones have turned against us.”
“Yes.” Bail sighed and he looked back up at you looking older than you’d ever seen him before. “That is the basics of what has happened. Where are you now? If you got Obi-Wan’s message you know you mustn’t return to Coruscant.”
You nodded but didn’t answer him, staying silent for a minute as you played with the ring on your finger. It wasn’t really allowed, possessions weren’t a thing the Jedi had but nobody had ever brought it up and it had been a gift from Obi-Wan, one that you never wanted to part with.
You knew you had to ask, knew you had to know but you hated that with one little question you could suddenly be in a galaxy without Obi-Wan. You took a shaky breath, a tear falling down your cheek as you looked at Bail.
“Obi-Wan,” You managed to choke out, pausing to swallow around the lump in your throat as more tears slid from your eyes. “Obi-Wan, is he-”
You couldn’t force yourself to say the word, refused to even speak it into existence. The sympathetic look Bail wore did nothing to help the devastation running through you. You couldn’t imagine a galaxy without Obi-Wan, you’d known him your whole life. As a Jedi you had been taken to the Temple at a young age and you didn’t remember a time before that, Obi-Wan had already been there when you arrived and the two of you had been inseparable ever since.
It might’ve been against the Jedi code but you didn’t care, you knew you loved him even if you could ignore it most days.
He couldn’t be gone, he just couldn’t be, not Obi-Wan. A galaxy without Obi-Wan was not one you wanted to be in.
“He’s alive, Y/N.” Bail told you, forcing his voice to be steady even as his face softened as you broke out into relieved sobs, when he hadn’t answered your calls you’d assumed the worst but he was alive.
“Where is he?” You asked and Bail didn’t hesitate to tell you he had travelled to Tatooine and he was staying there, he sent the coordinates over to you and you quickly changed the destination and turned back to Bail.
“Thank you, Bail. If you ever need anything you know where to find me.” You told him sincerely. You had known Bail for years, becoming close friends with both him and Breha and you were beyond relieved to see he was unharmed.
“Likewise, Y/N. Stay safe and…keep an eye on Obi-Wan, he’s going to need all the support he can get.” Bail told you and you frowned, something about his tone telling you whatever was happening with Obi-Wan went deeper than the fall of the Order and the Republic.
“I’ll always look after Obi-Wan.” You told him, watching as a smile spread across his face and he nodded, knowing full well that you and Obi-Wan loved each other and would die before letting the other get hurt. “Stay safe, Bail.”
It was still a two day journey to Tatooine and your mind ran wild in those days. Bail hadn’t told you anything more than what Obi-Wan’s message warned about so until you were reunited with Obi-Wan you were left with the most dreadful thoughts. During your journey you didn’t sleep, the one time you managed to drift off your dreams were plagued with screams and death and you forced yourself to stay awake as you flew through hyperspace.
You finally arrived on Tatooine, following the coordinates given to you by Bail and felt a wave of relief rush through you when you saw a small shack in the middle of nowhere, far enough away that nobody would stumble across it but close enough that Obi-Wan could travel out for supplies when needed.
When you landed the ship you had to take a moment to just sit back in the seat and let out a shaky breath as you stared at the shack, even though you had been told Obi-Wan was alive and safe, you knew you wouldn’t truly believe it until you saw the man, so with another deep breath you pulled yourself together and headed off the ship.
Obi-Wan had heard the ship and he was proud that his wave of panic only lasted a minute before he reached out and felt your Force signature. Once he had pushed aside his fear he felt his heart speed back up for a different reason, you were alive. He had truly thought that after days of not hearing from you that something had happened, that you hadn’t been able to fight the clones off.
With Luke still in his arms, awake and content to be held, he made his way outside and watched as the ship's door opened and you walked down the ramp. You looked worse for wear, clearly injured, robes torn and muddied but none of that mattered, you were alive, that was the most important thing.
He walked to meet you halfway, noticing the exact moment your eyes widened as you took note of Luke in his arms, it seemed Bail hadn’t shared everything with you. When you finally reached him your eyes moved from Luke to look in Obi-Wan’s.
“Is that…” You went to ask, trailing off as your eyes fell back to Luke.
“Y/N, meet Luke Skywalker.” Obi-Wan said softly and your gaze snapped back to him, eyes wide and watery as you tried to keep the tears where they were but it was no use, once one leaked over the rest followed. “Would you like to hold him?”
You opened your mouth to say something but the words clearly died on your tongue as it fell back shut and instead you gave him a shaky nod. Obi-Wan smiled as he carefully transferred the baby to you, guiding your hand to hold his head properly and then just watched as you looked down at Luke with a mix of emotions playing out on your face.
Your hand came up to gently run along the baby’s cheek before you let out a choked sob when Luke’s tiny hand came up to wrap around your finger. You looked back to Obi-Wan and saw tears welling up in his own eyes as he stepped closer, wrapping his arm around your waist and pulling you into his chest as he placed a gentle kiss to your hair and looked down at you and Luke, so thankful that he had something good left after all that had been lost.
Not much later you and Obi-Wan were settled on the sofa, you tucked against Obi-Wan and Luke cradled in your arms. Given the past few days, the fighting, the overwhelming emotions, the pain and suffering, the dragging yourself off the ground when all you wanted to do was give up, this small part of Tatooine, this quiet corner of the planet Obi-Wan had picked out felt so quiet compared to how loud the rest of the galaxy seemed.
Your gaze was on Luke, heart equal parts full of love for the child and pain for what had become of his parents. You hadn’t had the full story yet, Obi-Wan hadn’t said much and you were content with the silence for now but you knew nothing good could have happened if Obi-Wan had Luke.
Eventually the baby’s eyes closed and began to flutter as he fell asleep in your arms and a small smile tugged at your lips as you stood up and carefully walked over to the small crib Obi-Wan had set up, tucking Luke in and placing a gentle kiss to his forehead before joining Obi-Wan back on the sofa.
In the short amount of time it had taken you to put Luke to bed Obi-Wan had gotten up to get supplies to patch you up. Most of the injuries were cuts and bruises, nothing too serious and most of them had closed up after your long travels.
“Will you tell me what happened?” You asked softly, wincing as Obi-Wan gently ran a wet cloth over a long cut on the side of your stomach.
Obi-Wan was silent for long enough that you resigned yourself to not knowing but then he sighed, a deep, heavy, tired sigh before starting at the beginning with the battle on Utapau right up until giving Leia over to Bail and leaving them behind to bring Luke to Tatooine.
By the end of it you were all patched up and tears fell down both your cheeks. You felt even more exhausted after hearing everything, heartbroken as you cried for everything that had been lost. How had things gone so wrong in the span of just a few days?
Obi-Wan looked drained and when he suggested retiring for the night you didn’t hesitate to agree, letting him pull you from the sofa and into the small bedroom. That night neither of you got much sleep despite feeling more exhausted than you could ever remember being, both of you curled against each other as your thoughts played through the last few days.
For a long while things were tense, the weight of the fall sat heavily on both your shoulders, knowing that the organisation you had dedicated your lives to and the only home either of you had ever known was gone like it had never been there, it was a lot to come to terms with.
Luke seemed to grow more and more every day until he was a small boy who began resembling another little boy you had once known although that felt like another lifetime ago.
You knew Obi-Wan had bad days, days where he excused himself to the nearest town because looking at Luke hurt, you know he hated himself for it no matter what you said to try and convince him that it made sense. You got it too, sometimes you looked at him and saw a glimpse of Padmé’s smile, sometimes the resemblance to Anakin was too much for you too.
Things did get easier though, eventually the hurt of losing the Order faded into something easier to live with, the pain of losing Padmé and Anakin had become a part of you and all you could do was keep their memory alive.
“I wish he could stay this little.” You murmured as Luke cuddled into you, squashed between you and Obi-Wan on the sofa, eyes closed as Obi-Wan finished reading a story to him.
“I know what you mean.” Obi-Wan smiled as he looked down at Luke, the boy hadn’t long since turned five but Obi-Wan could still remember how he had cradled the small baby against his chest like it was only yesterday.
For years during your time in the Order you and Obi-Wan had always known you were special to each other, it was different to how you were friends with the other younglings, you and Obi-Wan had been inseparable from day one. Both of you were loyal to the Order and followed the code even if it did mean you couldn’t have the other.
Now there was no code, there was no Order for you to be loyal to. All that was left was this small patch of land on Tatooine and each other. You had already been here for five years, five years that seemed to have flown by in the blink of an eye and had let yourself fall more and more in love with him now that there was nothing stopping you.
You and Obi-Wan had never mentioned it, never defined it but you didn’t have to, you both knew it was love. Waking up next to each other every morning, moving in sync with each other as you cooked, Obi-Wan watching with a soft smile as you and Luke danced around his room whilst getting him ready for the day, the lingering touches, the way you got to fall asleep curled against each other, it was all love.
“Sometimes I wish we could give him more though, a life beyond this shack, one where he could go to school, one where he could make friends.” Obi-Wan sighed, letting his head fall to the side so he could look back at you, you who were smiling at him with such a softness to it.
“Careful what you wish for, Obi-Wan,” You chuckled, reaching over to brush a strand of hair from his face. “Before we know it he’ll be sneaking off into town and wanting to move out and go on his own adventures. Besides, I quite like our little shack in the middle of nowhere.”
“Yes, I suppose our small corner of the galaxy isn’t so bad.” Obi-Wan’s smile widened at your laugh, letting himself lean into your touch causing you to trail your fingers down his cheek and letting your thumb brush across his beard.
Obi-Wan had been a good Jedi, he had followed the code despite how many times he had thought about you in ways that would have seen him thrown out. But five years had passed by since everything had changed and he couldn’t remember what he was holding on to anymore.
It was the easiest thing in the world to lean across, careful not to jostle Luke too much as he did, and press his lips to yours, enjoying the little muffled surprised noise you made against his lips as he kissed you softly, your hand curling around his jaw as you pulled him closer, both of you knowing in that moment that this was right, that the two of you belonged to each other.
“He’s not mad at you.” You told Luke softly as you sat down on the sand next to him, smiling softly as he lifted the toy ship Obi-Wan had gotten for him in the air and flew it around half-heartedly.
“Yes he is.” Luke mumbled, refusing to look at you as he spoke.
It had only been a few years and somehow your life had changed so much. You’d gone from relationships being forbidden to freely and openly loving Obi-Wan, overjoyed with the fact you could kiss him whenever you wanted, with the way you could tell him that you loved him as many times as you wanted.
You and Obi-Wan had been raising Luke for nine years now, the little boy next to you the same age his dad had been when you first met him and the resemblance made you choke up some days, especially when he started showing an interest in the ship you’d brought to Tatooine all those years back, wanting to know everything about it and begged you to let him fly it.
Neither you nor Obi-Wan had left the planet since arriving, that was until today of course. When you and Obi-Wan heard another ship landing outside your hand flew to your lightsaber, Obi-Wan had long since got rid of his and instead reached for a blaster that still seemed odd for him to have even after so long of him owning it.
Obi-Wan had told you to stay in the house with Luke, the little boy having no reason to fear whoever had landed and instead was curious, trying to peer through the windows. As Obi-Wan exited the little shack you joined Luke and stayed where you were for all of thirty seconds before you saw the person who walked off the ship.
You were out of the door and past Obi-Wan before he himself had a chance to see who had arrived and he watched as you wrapped your arms around the figure, barely catching Luke as he ran after you, most likely wanting to see the new ship rather than the new person.
“Bail!” You exclaimed as you pulled out of the hug, “It’s so good to see you.”
“Y/N, Obi-Wan.” Bail smiled before looking down, Luke suddenly shy and clinging to Obi-Wan’s pants. “And this must be Luke.”
“Not that it isn’t good to see you, Bail,” Obi-Wan said and you shot him a look, sure it didn’t bode well that Bail had showed up on Tatooine for the first time since you’d arrive but he didn’t have to jump straight into it, he could at least invite him into the house first. “But you wouldn’t be here unless something had happened.”
“I’m afraid you’re right. I need your help, Obi-Wan.” Bail said and you could see the exact moment Obi-Wan shut himself off, already shaking his head and not letting Bail continue before he cut him off.
“No. Whatever it is you can handle, I won’t get involved again. I have my own family to take care of.” Obi-Wan told him firmly, Bail frowning as he nodded, his eyes falling down to Luke before he sighed.
“And a fine job you’ve done it seems but I’m afraid I have to ask anyway, you know I wouldn’t but…”
“What is it Bail?” You asked him softly, seeing the fear he was trying to hide.
“It’s Leia.” Was all Bail said and it was enough for Obi-Wan to gesture to the house, all of you sitting around the small dining table as you sent a pouting Luke off to play in his room.
“You’ll be safe, won’t you?” You asked Obi-Wan, Bail had left not too long ago after Obi-Wan agreed to go and find Leia.
“There is no need to worry, my love, I will get the girl and be back home before you know it.” Obi-Wan assured, pulling you into his arms and letting his lips linger against your forehead.
“I wish I could come with you.” You sighed and Obi-Wan chuckled softly as he looked down at you.
“I’d rather you were here where I know you’re safe. Besides, somebody needs to watch over Luke.” Obi-Wan told you, grinning at the huff you let out.
“Yeah, yeah Kenobi, you go on your little adventure and I'll stay home and watch the kid pout about not being able to fly around the galaxy with his Uncle.” You grumbled with no real heat behind it, unable to stop a smile tugging at your lips as Obi-Wan laughed before pulling you into a kiss.
Luke had refused to say goodbye to Obi-Wan, instead he only glared at the ship as he watched it disappear from view before walking away, sitting a short distance from the house.
“I know you want to explore the galaxy but you know it’s not safe out there right now.” You told him and watched as he rolled his eyes.
Generally Luke was the sweetest child you’d ever met, so polite and well behaved but the one argument that always came up was Luke wanting to explore the galaxy. He had loved your ship for as long as you could remember, most days you could find him at the wheel, stirring it this way and that, or tinkering away on something that definitely hadn’t needed fixing before he started.
“You and Uncle Obi always say that!” He exclaimed and you felt your heart ache for him.
For years you had fought in the Clone Wars, for years you had battled Separatists and Sith and it was all for them, for the kids like Luke who would get to grow up only knowing the new galaxy you had fought for and not the one plagued with darkness.
Of course all that fighting had amounted to nothing, all the lives lost and hearts shattered, the thinking you were so close to victory only to have it snatched out of your grasp by a plot put together before the war had even began.
“I know we do,” you told him quietly, thoughts so far away on a life that felt like it had been lived a million years ago. “Luke I wish you could, I really do, we wanted the galaxy to be safe but it’s not, I’m sorry.”
“We can make it better!” Luke declared and you laughed even as your vision became blurred with tears, Maker you were tired.
There was no better, how could there be with the Jedi gone and only darkness left. You had given everything you had and it had ended with you at the end of blasters held by men you cared so deeply for. You were tired, the war had taken so much from everyone, you weren’t sure you could do it again.
“You’re growing up too fast.” You told him, reaching over to ruffle his hair and feeling lighter when he laughed but didn’t push you away.
“One day I’m gonna grow up and be the best pilot in the whole galaxy!” Luke told you and you desperately tried to blink away the sting of more tears because you had known the best pilot in the whole galaxy and you had no doubt that had things been different him and Luke would have made one hell of a team.
You didn’t say anything though, just pulled Luke into your arms and this time Luke didn’t fuss like he usually did, telling you he was too old to sit in your lap anymore. The kid was so aware of everyone else’s emotions all the time and seemed to know you just needed to hold him tight against you for a moment.
“He’s alive?” You exclaimed, days had passed and Luke had long since gone to bed by the time you heard the ship land. “Wait, is that why Leia was taken, does he know about them? Are they safe?”
“He doesn’t know, he has no idea who Leia is to him and he certainly has no idea that Luke exists.” Obi-Wan told you calmly after telling you what had happened on his mission to rescue and return Leia. “Nobody is going to hurt him.”
“Force, I can’t believe he’s alive.” You said, sitting down next to Obi-Wan, the man not hesitating to pull you into him after so long apart. “And you’re sure it’s safe for us to stay here?”
“I promise, if I didn’t think it was, I would move us immediately.” Obi-Wan assured you, kissing the top of your head as you let out a shaky breath, nodding against his chest as you let yourself calm down after hearing his story.
“How is Leia?” You asked after a few moments of silence, turning up to look at him and watching as a soft smile pulled at his lips.
“She is quite possibly the bravest little girl I’ve ever met. Considering she has no idea who her biological parents are she is so much like both of them, a stubborn, passionate, kind hearted little thing, ready to take on the galaxy.”
“She sounds like a certain little boy I know who’s been missing his Uncle.” You smiled up at him, “Luke thinks there’s hope for the galaxy, that it can be made better.”
“It seems such an impossible thought, doesn’t it?” Obi-Wan murmured and you nodded again, your fingers playing with his. “It can’t stay like this forever though.”
“I’m not so sure I could handle another war, even then we had the numbers only because of the clones, now what is there? A few people willing to rebel, I wish them all the luck in the galaxy but we tried once.” You sighed, the war seemed a lifetime ago and yet you could still remember how drained you were by the end of it.
“Sometimes a few rebels is all the galaxy needs, maybe not to win the war but to light the spark in others.” Obi-Wan told you, you humming softly before leaning up to close the distance between you with a soft kiss.
“I’m glad you’re back home.” You whispered against his lips.
“Me too, my love.” Obi-Wan murmured before leaning back in to press his lips to yours.
More time passed and before you knew it Luke was so grown up, grown up and even more eager to get out into the galaxy. You and Obi-Wan knew it had only gotten worse, sure people had tried to fight against the Empire but nothing worked, the galaxy only got darker.
Unfortunately you knew you couldn’t keep Luke on Tatooine forever, one day he would leave, the boy was too eager, too kind hearted to leave the galaxy as it was. He had so much fight and so much good in him, not only that but he was also strong in the Force. Obi-Wan and you had been teaching him the ways of the Jedi not too long after Obi-Wan had helped Leia, knowing the boy had already shown signs of being able to use the Force and wanting him to be trained in case something ever did happen, even if it did hurt to see Anakin’s old lightsaber again after so long.
Luke didn’t get the chance to argue again about going out into the galaxy, not when something new came along to drag you out of your safe space on Tatooine.
You and Obi-Wan had made a run into town, leaving Luke alone at the house, not that he stayed there of course. Once you and Obi-Wan left Luke found himself wandering around outside until he made his way onto the ship.
He had always felt at home on the ship you had brought with you, he dreamed of flying and though he loved his life on Tatooine with you and Obi-Wan he couldn’t help but want more. He had listened to the stories from both of you growing up, the tales from the war, the adventures you had had together. He wanted that, he knew he was meant for more.
He was startled out of his thoughts when he heard a crash near the house and he leaned forward in his seat to look out of the window, not seeing anything for a moment and then suddenly two droids came into view.
“Droids?” Luke murmured to himself, pulling himself off the seat and making his way off the ship, the droids spotting him immediately and the R2 unit zooming over to him whereas the other just mumbled to itself.
The R2 unit beeped at him and Luke frowned as he watched the unit crash into his legs.
“Whoa, hey there buddy, what’re you two doing so far out here?” Luke asked them both and the R2 beeped wildly at him again.
“You’ll have to forgive my small friend, he seems to think he’s on an important mission when really we barely escaped with our lives from the Empire.” The other droid told him and Luke’s eyes widened.
“The Empire? You know about the rebellion?” He asked with a grin on his face and the droid nodded.
“Of course, me and R2-D2 here are more than familiar with the rebellion.” The droid said, sounding as exasperated as a droid could.
“Yeah you two do look a bit banged up. You want me to patch you up, buddy?” He asked R2 and the droid beeped again like he was excited causing Luke to laugh. “Alright then, come up onto the ship, that’s where my Aunt keeps the tools.”
The three of them made their way onto the ship and Luke knew when you and Obi-Wan got back you were going to kill him but he couldn’t help it, he loved tinkering with the scraps you brought home from market, now he had the chance to patch up real droids, ones who knew about the rebellion no less.
“What did you say your name was?” Luke asked as he crouched down in front of R2 and got to work on him.
“Oh I didn’t sir but I am C-3PO, human-cyborg relations.” C-3PO introduced himself as he settled against the wall and watched as Luke worked.
“Nice to meet you both, I’m Luke.” He smiled at them, grunting as he tried to get something that was jammed in R2 unstuck. “You’ve got something jammed good in there buddy, let me just-”
Luke was cut out as he was shocked by the R2 unit before a holo started playing, Luke looking towards the girl as her voice filled the ship.
“Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You’re my only hope.” The girl pleaded and Luke frowned as he turned to the droids.
“What’s this?” He asked as the holo continued to play. “Who is that girl, why is she asking for help?”
His frown deepened as both of the droids shrugged it off as old footage, he couldn’t help but think they were lying to him. He didn’t know what reason they’d have to lie but two droids suddenly appearing and looking for Obi-Wan was strange.
“R2 says it is a private message for Obi-Wan Kenobi, he refuses to tell you anything unfortunately, sir.” C-3PO finally said after talking with R2 and Luke frowned before his face lit up.
“If you’re looking for Obi-Wan Kenobi I can take you right to him!” Luke said as he stood up.
“You know Obi-Wan Kenobi, sir?” C-3PO asked and Luke nodded excitedly, gesturing for the droids to follow him.
“Of course, Obi-Wan is my uncle, him and my aunt should still be in town, I can take you to him!” Luke grinned and the three of them made their way towards the town. It was a fair trek away from their house but it didn’t take awfully long to get there.
He had been to the town only a few times and each time he went he was never allowed to wander off despite being so curious about everything. This was the first time in his whole life he’d been by himself and he knew once the two of you saw him he’d be done for.
It was worth it though, the small thrill running through Luke, his first adventure!
It took some searching but eventually he found you and Obi-Wan, you were sitting together on a bench some distance away from everyone else and the second R2 saw you he shot off like a rocket, leaving Luke to chase after him with a yell and C-3PO to sigh to himself.
Your eyes widened as you looked over Obi-Wan’s shoulder, gasping at the R2 unit barrelling towards you. You were off your seat before Obi-Wan had noticed the droid and crouching down just in time for R2 to crash into you causing you to laugh.
“R2, is it really you?” You asked and the droid let out a series of excited beeps. “Force, what are you doing all the way out here?”
“Luke?” Obi-Wan asked and your head snapped up to see a sheepish looking Luke, C-3PO showing up behind him a second later. “3PO?”
“You know these droids?” Luke asked and you taped R2 once more before standing up and glaring at Luke.
“The question is how do you know these droids and what in the stars are you doing out here alone?” You asked him with a glare causing him to look down at his feet, kicking at the sand.
“They were looking for Uncle Obi-Wan!” Luke defended himself, “They have a message, a girl is in trouble, she needs your help!”
You and Obi-Wan shared a look, a girl needing his help, there was only one person in the whole galaxy who fit that description, young Leia Organa.
“Let us get back to the house, it isn’t safe to talk out here.” Obi-Wan murmured and you nodded in agreement, starting the walk back home, wondering what trouble had managed to find Leia this time.
“General Kenobi, years ago you served my father in the Clone Wars. Now he begs you to help him in his struggle against the Empire. I regret that I am unable to present my father’s request in person. But my ship has fallen under attack and I’m afraid my mission to bring you to Alderaan has failed. I have placed information vital to the survival of the Rebellion into the memory systems of this R2 unit. My father will know how to retrieve it. You must see this droid safely delivered to him on Alderaan. This is our most desperate hour. You once told me I would see you again if I ever needed help, this is the time. Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You're my only hope.”
You and Obi-Wan were silent as the message finished, sharing a look between you, Obi-Wan standing and gesturing for you to follow him. When Luke went to follow you gave him a pointed look and the boy sat right back down again.
“What is Bail up to?” You asked and Obi-Wan could only shrug though he wouldn’t be surprised if his old friend was part of the new Rebellion. “We have to get that droid to Alderaan.”
“We’d need to bring Luke, we cannot leave him here alone.” Obi-Wan said, causing you to scrunch your nose in displeasure. “He will be fine, the boy is strong with the Force, one of the strongest I have seen.”
“Just because you’re right doesn’t mean I have to like it.” You mumbled causing Obi-Wan to chuckle and pull you into his arms, pressing a kiss to your forehead.
“I know, my dear, believe me I want nothing more than for Luke to stay here, to never know the cruelness of the world beyond this place but unfortunately, despite our best wishes, the boy has grown up.” Obi-Wan told you and you couldn’t stop the stinging in your eyes. “He’ll be fine, we raised him well.”
“It wasn’t supposed to be like this, you can feel it too, I know you can, something big is coming. He shouldn’t be near it.”
“That boy knows he is made for something bigger than Tatooine, one day he may choose to fight and he will be a worthy Jedi. All we can do is give him the tools and guidance he needs to stay safe.” Obi-Wan said as he pulled you closer to him, smiling softly as you gripped his robe.
“We need a way off Tatooine, the ship is fine for small journeys but it’ll never get us to Alderaan in one piece.” You told Obi-Wan after pulling away and taking a shaky breath.
“We’ll fly it to Mos Eisley, leave the rest to me, my love.”
It only took a few mind tricks to get past the troopers, tricks that seemed to impress Luke, of course he’d been taught about the Force and what it was capable of but he had never actually seen anything like that.
Taking Luke into the seedy cantina was the last thing you wanted to do but Obi-Wan seemed certain you’d find your pilot in there. As you entered Obi-Wan moved away and began talking to somebody, out of the corner of your eye you saw Luke looking around in wonder before he went to move away, only stopped by you grabbing his arm.
“You stay with me, I’m still not thrilled you’re coming along but if you are you’ll do as I say.” You told him sternly, having Luke so far away from home had your nerves on edge, that mixed with the shift in the Force had anxiety running through you.
You couldn’t do anything about whatever was happening with the Force but you could protect Luke and that you would do with your life.
“Come on, Aunt Y/N, I’ll be fine!” Luke whined but didn’t try and pull away from you, moments letting stepping closer when a creature with four arms grunted at him causing you to snort.
As you walked further into the bar Luke got closer and closer to you until he was pressed against your side, his arm wrapped around yours like he had done when he was much younger. You couldn’t help but smile despite the situation and squeezed his hand before giving him a reassuring smile as Obi-Wan gestured you over, telling you about a captain who could potentially get you to Alderaan.
“Han Solo.” The man introduced himself as he sat next to the Wookiee. You glanced at Luke and elbowed his side when you saw him staring too openly at the creature causing him to pout at you. “I’m captain of the Millennium Falcon.”
You listened to him as he talked his ship up, Luke hanging onto the captain’s every word and you almost felt sorry for the man if he agreed to take you, knowing Luke would already have a million and one questions for him.
“Ten thousand, all in advance.” The captain told you and you watched as Luke gasped, rolling your eyes as you looked towards Obi-Wan.
“We could buy our own ship for those credits!” Luke exclaimed as he turned to you and Obi-Wan before snapping his attention back to Han.
“And who’s gonna fly it, kid? You?”
“I could! I’m an excellent pilot!” Luke declared, your gaze still on Obi-Wan, full of amusement as he looked at you in exasperation.
“Luke, why don’t we let your uncle do the talking?” You said softly, ignoring the wide eyes and pout that was sent your way. “Remember what I said.”
“Obi-Wan, where in the Force are you getting fifteen thousand credits?” You asked after the deal was struck and you had put enough distance between you and anyone listening.
“Bail wants the droid, I’m sure he won’t mind paying the captain who delivered it.” Obi-Wan told you with a grin.
“You’re sticking Bail with a fifteen thousand credit bill?” You laughed as you nudged him, causing Obi-Wan to laugh.
From then on it hadn’t taken long at all to sell your ship for the advance payment and before you knew it you were meeting up with the Wookiee and making your way to the Falcon, though once you arrived you had a bad feeling upon seeing it, wholeheartedly agreeing with Luke that it looked like a heap of junk.
“So much for no Imperials.” You muttered to yourself as you heard blaster shots and looked out of the window in time to see a swarm of them surrounding you but thankfully between the Wookiee and the captain were able to get you off Tatooine and into hyperspace.
Once you were in hyperspace you smiled as Obi-Wan tested Luke’s work with his lightsaber, knowing that something was bound to go wrong on this mission and wanting Luke to be as prepared as possible. Your smile didn’t last long though, if you thought something was happening with the Force before it was nothing compared to the sudden pain and terror you felt, gasping as you leaned back in your seat and watching Obi-Wan sit down.
“Something terrible has happened.” You heard Obi-Wan say and that was putting it lightly, you managed to push yourself to your feet before sitting down next to him, Obi-Wan’s arm wrapping around you and pulling you close as you buried yourself against his chest.
You stayed quiet for the rest of the trip, reaching out into the Force and trying to feel something but it just felt empty. Whilst Obi-Wan distracted himself with Luke, you followed Chewbacca and Han into the cockpit as he announced you were coming out of hyperspace.
You were glad for Obi-Wan following in not too long after, wrapping an arm around you and holding you against his chest as you staggered back once the captain announced you’d arrived but Alderaan was gone.
Everyone around you spoke but you were frozen, staring ahead at the destruction before you as Han flew through it, frowning at the space station that came into view.
“I have a very bad feeling about this.” Luke said and you moved away from Obi-Wan to pull Luke against you, the young man not pushing you away and instead leaning into your hold.
The fear in Luke's voice when Han announced you were caught in the tractor beam turned you cold as he turned to cling to you and you hated that he was on this ship at all, you knew nothing good could have come from it and now, if anything happened to Luke you’d never forgive yourself.
You almost gasped as you felt something in the Force, Obi-Wan turning to look at you and you knew you weren’t imagining it, you knew he had felt it too. You knew what had become of Anakin but to see his destruction, to see how far he had fallen first hand was different to hearing the stories.
You didn’t have time to think for too long though, the captain grabbing your arm whilst the Wookiee took Luke’s and they led you down to hide under the compartments. You waited until it was all clear and let Luke pull you up, him taking his spot pressed against you again.
You let Han and Chewbacca take care of the troopers outside of the ship before following them into the command centre, letting R2 find his way around and sitting against one of the crates in the room.
Anakin, no Vader had done this, he had been a part of the destruction of Alderaan. Your gaze shifted to Luke, your heart aching even more as you saw the fear he tried to hide, then you moved to look at Obi-Wan.
He looked like he’d aged so much since leaving Tatooine and you were sure you looked the same, you felt the same at least. After everything you’d lost there weren’t too many people you had left in the galaxy to trust and now Bail was gone, him and Breha and the rest of Alderaan wiped out and for what?
You knew Anakin was gone but you had to believe some part of him was in there, buried deep down. Surely he was tired of the fighting and the wars. Hadn’t you all had enough of it to last a lifetime?
Obi-Wan’s gaze found yours and he smiled though it was strained, you forced yourself to smile back though, forced yourself to push your feelings into the Force and focus on getting Luke out of here alive.
You listened as C-3PO told you that the ship could leave so long as one of the terminals lost its power and Obi-Wan looked at you, raising an eyebrow and you nodded.
“You boys can’t help, me and Y/N will deal with this alone.” Obi-Wan told them and you ignored Han in favour of turning to Luke.
“Y/N, don’t go.” Luke pleaded as he clung to your robes before you even had the chance to speak, him already getting teary eyed and you forced yourself to smile again, to use all your Jedi training to hide your emotions and project a calm you didn’t feel.
“You’ll be fine.” You told him, smoothing his hair from his face and bringing him close enough so you could press a kiss to his forehead. “If anything happens you know what to do, you are strong with the Force, trust in it and trust yourself.”
“Please don’t go, at least let me come with you.” Luke begged, a tear slipping down his cheek.
“Come on, none of that now. Nothing is going to happen to you, I promise. I don’t care how grown up you get on me, I’m not going to let anything happen to you, you will get off this space station.” You promised him, cupping his cheek and wiping away the few more tears that slipped down.
“Uncle Obi-Wan, I wanna go with you two.” He turned to the other man causing you to laugh softly and Obi-Wan squeezed his upper arm.
“You stay here, stay with the droids. They are of top priority and must be delivered safely. Now listen to your Aunt.” Obi-Wan said softly, forcing his own smile on his face before Luke nodded, seeing he was fighting a losing battle.
“The Force will be with you, always.” Obi-Wan told him before gesturing for you to follow him and you went with one last glance towards Luke, mouthing an ‘I love you’ to him and finding your smile wasn’t as forced when he whispered it back.
You and Obi-Wan kept silent as you made your way through the base, it was almost embarrassing how easy it was to move around unnoticed with so many troopers and imperial officers on board, Obi-Wan clearly thinking the same as he smirked at you when you snuck past another large group of stormtroopers.
“You can feel him too, can’t you?” You whispered as you and Obi-Wan pressed against each other to avoid another group. “Even with the darkness surrounding him, you can feel him, right?”
“Yes my dear, it is Darth, no doubt about it.” Obi-Wan told you with a heaviness in his tone and you reached up to cup his cheek, feeling him smile faintly. “How twisted the Dark side within him has become.”
“You’re not just going to disable the power, are you?” You asked him and watched as his face darkened, not giving you an answer out loud but he didn’t need to, he never had to, you knew him better than anyone in the whole galaxy. “Whatever plan you had to get rid of me, to distract me whilst you snuck away, change it right now because you are not doing this alone.”
Obi-Wan went to open his mouth but he could see he wasn’t winning this argument so let it fall closed and instead leaned down to kiss you, both of you holding each other close and savouring the feeling.
“I love you, Obi-Wan.” You whispered against his lips, feeling the way his breath hitched being so close to him.
“I love you too, my dear one, more than you could ever know.” Obi-Wan murmured back, placing one more kiss to your lips before pulling away and you continued on your way.
The two of you made quick work of shutting down the power to the tractor beams so the Falcon would be able to take off and it was easy to sneak past the troopers keeping watch once it was done.
You followed behind Obi-Wan, pausing when he gestured for you to wait as he went ahead, scouting the next room and walking into it. You frowned as he failed to give you the all clear after a few seconds and looked up and down the hallway before moving across.
“No!” You exclaimed as the door slid shut before you could enter the room, locks sliding into place, your fists banging against it doing nothing. “Obi-Wan!”
From behind the glass you could see Vader already in the room, cloaked and masked with his red lightsaber lit, an imposing figure that should strike fear but instead your heart just ached painfully.
“Obi-Wan, open this door!” You yelled and he turned around to give you an apologetic look before facing Vader, lighting his own lightsaber.
You couldn’t hear what they were saying but you winced every time their lightsabers smashed into each other. Pushing yourself away from the door you raised a hand and drew all your strength from the Force and yet the blasted door still wouldn’t open.
You never took your gaze off the two of them, eyes locked onto Obi-Wan the whole time as you watched them battle each other, tears streaming down your face as you pleaded with the Force to just open the door, desperate to get through to Obi-Wan.
You watched as Obi-Wan paused, still holding Vader off but turning to see something you couldn’t before you felt a shift in the Force again, this time instead of fear it was peace spreading through it and you felt your heart beating wildly as you shook your head calling Obi-Wan’s name as sobs wracked your body.
“No!” You called as watched him put his lightsaber down and Vader didn’t miss a beat as he swung for Obi-Wan, the man you had loved for years, for your whole life, fell to the floor before you, gone in the blink of an eye, leaving nothing but a lightsaber and his cloak behind.
As he disappeared the door flew open and you stumbled into the room, falling onto your knees as you sobbed into his cloak.
“Still so loyal to Obi-Wan?” Vader asked, he knew he had recognized more than just Obi-Wan on the space station but hadn’t been sure. “Pathetic.”
You looked up at Vader and it was Vader, there was no more mistaking him for Anakin, not anymore. The Anakin Skywalker you had known would have died before killing Obi-Wan.
Vader lifted his lightsaber again, ready to strike you down as he had Obi-Wan. There was a moment, it was only a moment that lasted no longer than a second, where you had to make a choice.
It wasn’t a hard choice, a thought you had had so many years ago back when you were young and exhausted hit you, a world without Obi-Wan Kenobi was not a world you ever wanted to be in. Even in just these few seconds it had been since Vader had killed him the galaxy felt emptier immediately, it felt like a part of you had been ripped out, an aching hole in you that would never be mended.
You had never lived in a galaxy without Obi-Wan and you didn’t plan on doing so now.
You were old and you had lived a full life, more than a full life. You had been a Jedi Master, you had fought wars and commanded armies, you had settled down with the love of your life and got to spend every day at his side, raising a child who was yours in every way but blood, a child you loved more deeply than you thought possible.
It had been a good life, tiring but filled with so much love, even before the Order fell and it was an emotion that Jedi weren’t supposed to feel. You loved the men under your command, spending years at their sides and becoming closer than friends, becoming a family as you fought together on the front lines, earning their respect by standing with them. You had loved Anakin dearly, helping Obi-Wan navigate his new life of suddenly having a Padawan and taking Anakin under your wing when Obi-Wan’s grief over the loss of Qui-Gon was too much and he needed to be alone. You loved Padmé and Bail, dear friends and two of the few people you trusted more than anyone. Mostly you had loved Obi-Wan, long before you had even truly known what that had meant.
It was a good life, a long life and you knew it was done there. You hoped one day Anakin would find his way back, that he would find a way to rid himself of such darkness but there was nothing you could do to help him, not now.
You were tired and you were at peace, ready to join Obi-Wan, sure he was waiting for you on the other side for whatever grand adventure awaited the two of you next and as you turned your head you saw Luke watching you, the boy crying but he wasn’t alone, his sister had her arms around him and you managed to mouth a final ‘I love you’, managed to see Luke choke out the same three words before Vader’s lightsaber struck you too.

A Little About Me
I love writing. It's one of my favorite things to do. I've been writing for fandom communities for several years now, and truthfully, I was feeling a little creatively burned out. I had finished a number of LONG projects, and didn't have it in me to start anything else major
So I decided to give Tumblr a try! So far, it's going great.
My other hobbies include collecting action figures and statues, video games, kdramas, RPGs, and comic books.
This blog is a safespace for people of every gender, sexuality, and race imaginable. If you are any sort of -phobic at all, please leave. You are not wanted here. This is a place of inclusivity, positivity, and love. If you ever need someone to talk to, please reach out.
I do prefer to use they/them pronouns, but please don't worry if you forget. My picture here is a purple robot that turns into a jet, so I understand if you forget.
Please also be understanding of the fact that I value my privacy.

Western Animated Movie Sequel Timeline
For reference... On how few theatrical animated movie sequels were made in the West vs. how many have been made since the early 2000s... (Streaming titles like THE SEA BEAST 2 will be included, because these are big budget enough to have been theatrical releases.)
Titles highlighted in blue have commas in them, this denotes that you're not looking at two separate titles. (Just in case you happen to not know-)
I also won't include reboots. For example: The upcoming Paramount Animation film TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: MUTANT MAYHEM, which despite being a TMNT movie, it has no other relation to the Imagi Studios 2007 TMNT movie. The same goes for the two SMURFS reboots, 2017's THE LOST VILLAGE and Paramount's untitled upcoming musical.
I'll also leave out animated movies that are part of franchises that are largely live-action, like STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS.
1972: SNOOPY, COME HOME
1974: THE NINE LIVES OF FRITZ THE CAT
1976: RACE FOR YOUR LIFE, CHARLIE BROWN
1980: BON VOYAGE, CHARLIE BROWN (AND DON'T COME BACK!!)
1986: THE CARE BEARS MOVIE II: THE NEXT GENERATION

1996: ALL DOGS GO TO HEAVEN 2
1997: THE SWAN PRINCESS II: ESCAPE FROM CASTLE MOUNTAIN

the one where you get into trouble (obi-wan x reader)
summary: obi-wan doesn’t like to mix your relationship with your work - but when you’re constantly pissing off the likes of the jedi council, it’s not as though he has much of a choice.
this is mostly just fluff because once again it is a stupid hour (6.30am boys) and i am running purely on coffee, adhd and my love for this dumb jedi
warnings: mentions of blood
enjoy
- jazz
Tumblr media
If Obi-Wan Kenobi had a shot for every time you did something dumb, he’d be permanently inebriated.
You were stood in front of the Jedi council for the umpteenth time that month, arms folded tightly across your chest and robes lightly charred. You had a look on your face that made it seem as though you wanted to be anywhere but here - and your expression didn’t deceive.
It had been a long few days and you wanted to collapse into bed with your man and sleep for days. It didn’t help that he was sat a few feet away from you, watching intently as Mace Windu ripped you a new one. The fact that Obi-Wan looked even more attractive than usual with his furrowed brow and serious look only added insult to injury.
‘A Jedi is supposed to find an alternative solution to fighting. What you did was simply inappropriate.’ He said. ‘As of late, you’ve been leaving a trail of collateral damage wherever you go. It’s not good enough.’
‘I got the intel that you needed,’ you protested. ‘The fact I did it should be enough - how I did it is not relevant.’
‘Chaotic, your methods are.’ Yoda replied, and you thinned your eyes at him.
The only person who hadn’t voiced their opinion on the matter was Obi-Wan. He’d stayed uncharacteristically silent, hands clasped in his lap and leg bumping up and down. He didn’t want to mix his personal life with your professional matters. However, doing so was an unavoidable odd when he’d fallen in love with you.
‘If you’re going to chastise me for doing my job, I think you’re overstepping.’ You continued.
Sensing that things were growing tense, Obi-Wan cleared his throat. ‘I think what they mean-’
‘- I know what I mean.’ You cut him off. ‘Are we done here?’
‘For now, that is all.’ Yoda tapped his little walking stick on the ground. ‘You are dismissed. On future missions, better you must behave.’
You sharply pulled up the hood of your robes and turned on your heel, marching out of the room. You’d already dug yourself into a hole on the mission and you’d turned up to the hearing with a shovel. If your actions had been reckless, your words weren’t far from being pure hare-brained.
If you were to find a silver lining amongst the clouds, at least you hadn’t been punished. Above all, the council knew you were a good Jedi and they didn’t want to send you away or demote you. You’d been right in saying that you always succeeded in your missions. You just wished that they’d focus on that rather than your methods.
Obi-Wan, meanwhile, was having an internal battle of his own. He hated watching you get chastised - but it’s not like he could put your relationship before his position on the council. He still had to pick his battles when it came to navigating being with you and maintaining being a Jedi master. He knew that if the rest of them understood you in the way he did - if they knew how well you meant and how hard you worked - they wouldn’t have given you such a hard time.
Reaching your quarters, you kicked open the door and walked inside, throwing your smokey robes onto the bed. As a result of your somewhat reckless methods, you had a nasty burn trailing up your side. It wasn’t your first battle-scar and it certainly wouldn’t be the last, but trying to ignore the pain for the duration of the hearing had been borderline agony.
You stood by the basin in your room, dunking a clean cloth into the water. A few moments later, the once-clear water was tinged scarlet with the dried blood from your wounds. Perhaps they’d had a point about your dangerous methods - not that you’d ever admit it.
A few moments later, you heard the door open. You immediately sensed who it was - whether it was a deeper connection or simply because of the Force, you always knew when Obi-Wan was near. He had a comforting presence; like a pleasant fire in the middle of a cold winter.
‘Thanks for backing me up in there - really means a lot.’ You murmured, attention on cleaning your wound.
‘Going against the council wouldn’t be a wise idea.’ Obi-Wan replied. ‘Not that it’s ever stopped you.’
You felt a familiar pair of warm hands on your hips, and he lead you away from the basin. Obi-Wan took the cloth from your hands, trying to hide the visible pain he felt from just looking at your injuries. Still, his hands were gentle as he washed the burn and you melted into his side, head falling onto his shoulder.
‘My feelings towards the matter are purely personal,’ He continued, hands moving to pull you closer into his chest, ‘I’m more put out by you getting hurt than your questionable behaviour.’
‘I’m not that bad,’ you countered, ‘aside from the burn I’m in one piece.’
‘And I’d like to keep it that way, my love.’ He pressed a kiss to your temple, comforting hands gently rubbing up and down on your arms.
He was the one person on the council that you’d listen to. You had every bit of respect for the rest of the Jedi Masters but Obi-Wan Kenobi was the only person in the galaxy who ever seemed to make sense. There were days when he knew you better than you knew yourself. You were endlessly grateful for him and you had no idea how you’d even begin to express it.
Most of the time, he could tell without you having to try. You were very good at guarding your emotions from everybody else. But with Obi-Wan, you were vulnerable. Most of the time it wasn’t even intentional but from the moment you’d met him, you were like an open book.
‘I’m lucky it was just a hearing, right?’ You sighed.
‘Extremely,’ He replied. ‘Yoda is right. You are going to have start being careful.’
‘Fine,’ you huffed. ‘I’ll try but I’m doing it because I love you - not because of Yoda or Mace Windu or anybody else on the council.’
‘That’s fine by me,’ Obi-Wan stood up, holding up his hand to help you up.
You both changed out of your robes and into something more comfortable, finally climbing into bed. It was a sort of unspoken agreement that you quietly lived together - you barely spent the night apart if you were both at the temple. It made the long nights away from each other on missions even harder.
You slipped under the covers beside him, the tension leaving your body the second he took you up in his warm embrace. It didn’t matter where you were - wherever Obi-Wan was, that was home. This was home.
‘Between you and Anakin, it’s a wonder my hair hasn’t gone grey.’
You glanced up at him, a grin on your face. ‘I mean, I can see a few cropping up.’
‘Perhaps one for every time you’ve done something daft.’
‘And yet you still love me in spite of it.’
‘I love you because of it.’

perfect (anakin skywalker x reader)
pairing: anakin skywalker x fem!reader request: Could we get an anakin x reader where the reader compares herself to padme but anakin reassures her that he loves her? requested by: anon a/n: i listened to heather by conan gray while writing this. it’s a beautiful song that really conveys the vibe i wanted for this fic, but overall it’s pretty soft. the only warnings i have are negative talk about yourself. hope you all enjoy!
anakin taglist (send a message or ask if you want to be part of any taglist)!: @outofdaylight
Tumblr media
your patience had been growing thin as of late.
it had been getting more frustrating, not being able to see anakin. he was so busy, being a jedi. every time he had a few minutes to talk to you, obi-wan would poke his head around the corner and beckon him to more meetings or something. it definitely got annoying after all this time, especially because another woman— who you thought was way prettier than you— was at every. single. meeting. it just made your anxiety peak every time you saw her.
padmé amidala was always a force to be reckoned with, a queen at a young age and now a senator of naboo. she was always impressive, with her immensive knowledge on what seemed like every subject and her incomprehensible beauty. you just couldn’t catch a break.
of course, you would never think about telling anakin how you truly felt about his and padmé’s relationship. the better, more logical, part of your mind kept telling you they spent a lot of time together for other reasons such as the safety and security of naboo and their neighbors or whatever jedi things he did while he was away. the other part of you told you that anakin was tired of you. that he’d found someone better than you. you knew it seemed illogical, and just bringing it up to him would probably make you look like that annoying clingy girlfriend who couldn’t handle seeing her boyfriend have female friends. you were so far from that. you wanted anakin to have friends, and you wanted him to have female friends other than you, but why did you feel so.. jealous?
sure, padmé was nearly perfect, but that didn’t mean anakin thought of her that way. her skin looked was flawless and her eyes shined whenever she talked about anything in the whole galaxy. she was selfless, and she was kind. what was there not to like about her? why did anakin even bother staying with you?
the more you thought about it, the more you felt your heart breaking. anakin wasn’t the type of man to do that, of course, having being practically raised by obi-wan, but you couldn’t help but compare yourself to the padmé ‘gorgeous in every way’ amidala.
you weren’t a senator like padmé was. you weren’t a queen like she was, either. why did you even bother? she was perfect to you, and she probably was to anakin to.
your back laid flat against the mattess of your bed, the one you'd shared with anakin many times in secret. the two of you would lay there and talk about anything in the galaxy. he'd told you about his mom laying in that bed, choking back sobs you'd held him in your arms and let him cry. you'd told him about your own family, and he listened to every word intently, his eyes going back and forth from your eyes to your lips. your voice was enchanting to him, no matter what you would say, he'd be stuck in place and unable to move.
anakin was in love with you, he’d told you that many times.
even if it was against everything the jedi wanted for him to be, he didn’t care. he’d fallen in love with no regard to the code and he never bat an eye. padmé was beautiful, intelligent, and kind, but even she couldn’t beat you.
so when anakin saw you laying on your bed, face buried in the pillows, crying, he didn’t know what to do.
at first, he’d thought it was past memories or something that had been bothering you. you’d sat up and looked him straight in the eyes as he moved next to you, his hands rubbing soothing circles into your back as you sobbed. you felt so worthless. anakin deserved someone better than you, so why would he stay? how could you explain why you were crying to him? should you lie?
his eyes peered into yours, though tear-stained and puffy, you looked perfect to him. one of his hands rose up to stroke your cheek, and he finally spoke after a moment. “what’s bothering you?” anakin’s tone was so soft, so loving, you felt yourself start crying even harder as his thumb ran over your jawline, his lips pressing loving kisses across your forehead and cheeks. you felt so loved and so special when it came to anakin, and then you remembered her. “y/n?” you heard him again. he looked worried now.
as soon as your eyes made contact with his, you felt yourself fall in love with him all over again. he was so warm-hearted. selfless. he put everyone before himself, no matter the situation. and he was beautiful. the way he looked at you made you swoon no matter how many times you’d see it. anakin had bags under his eyes, many sleepless nights came with the burden of being a jedi, but he was still beautiful. his lips were chapped slightly, the cold air of the room having something to do with it. whenever he kissed you it was always filled with love and passion, and whenever he’d go away on a mission, he’d kiss you like it would be the last kiss you would ever have with him. his skin was soft, and fair. his complexion was beautiful and it complimented the light blue of his eyes that had been staring back at you ever since he’d sat down.
he pursed his lips and took his feet off the ground, sitting cross-legged on top of your bed next to you. his elbows rested on his knees and his hands now sat on either side of his face, a pout forming on his lips as he looked up at you. you couldn’t help but smile. he was so beautiful, no matter what he did. he was dedicating his life to a cause, something that would help make the galaxy better. you were so incredibly proud of him.
anakin left you breathless. he was perfect.
unlike you.
“i know something’s wrong now.” he spoke, his hand still continuing to caress that same spot on your jaw. his other hand gripped onto yours, and you stared at him. “wanna talk about it?” his eyes poured into yours. love evidently shown in them as he admired your features. you were perfect to him.
“just..” you started after a moment, letting the comfort of being in his presence surround you before finally opening yourself up to your boyfriend. “i just.. i don’t. i don’t think i’m good enough for you, ani.”
hearing your words, anakin’s brow furrowed and his back straightened. his other hand rose to cup your cheek, and he stared deep into your eyes. “what makes you say that?” he asked you quietly, searching desperately across your face. had he done something? “you’re always.. around her. padmé.”
“padmé?”
you nodded. “she’s so much more beautiful than me, anakin. she’s so smart, so kind.. she’s perfect. and you deserve someone like her. you deserve her. you don’t deserve someone like me.” you inhaled deeply, your eyes breaking contact with his, suddenly incredibly embarrassed. you felt his hand reach to your chin and pull your face back up to look at his own. “y/n.. listen to me, okay?” you said nothing in response, so he continued, “when i first met you, i’d never seen a woman more beautiful than you. i was stunned by you, amazed by your looks.. and then, i got to know you, and then i was amazed by you. you.. you’re so strong, so patient, so willing to learn. you listen to me whenever i need to talk about anything. you make me feel like the most loved man in the entire galaxy.”
he held onto you tighter as he spoke, his eyes never breaking contact with your own. “y/n, padmé.. she’s lovely, but i don’t think of her that way, and i never have. i only have eyes for you. ever since i met you, you were the only person i’d ever wanted to call mine.” he told you, voice stern as he looked at you. “all of the things padmé has.. and you have them all and more. you’re beautiful, selfless, caring. everything. you make me smile, you make me laugh. you support me even if you don’t understand what i do, and i love that about you.” anakin laughed softly. he leaned forwards slightly, rubbing his nose against yours. that was his thing. it was adorable to you, how he did it without thinking.
“i love you, y/n. i promise you, one day.. i’ll marry you. we’ll have a beautiful family.. settle down anywhere you want.”
you nodded wordlessly. anakin always managed to leave you stunned.
“i love you.” you told him. those were the only words you could think of at the moment. his arm wrapped around your shoulders and he pulled you into his side, leaning his head on top of yours. “i love you most.”
you wanted to stay like that forever.
unfortunately, not all stories have a happy ending.

Mrs. Kenobi
Obi-Wan Kenobi x reader
Word Count: 1.2k
Warnings: none I don’t think !
Author’s Note: Ah it is nice to come back to regular old Obi-Wan, I missed my Jedi baby. I hope you enjoy this, I had a ton of fun with it!
Requested: by @ladyofhellhounds Hey! I'm sooo happy to finally found someone who writes for Obi Wan. So...would you mind doing an imagine? Where reader is Obi Wan's padawan but they know they are in love with each other so they have to hide their relationship. One day the council finds about them and the coupme is about to be kicked out of the order, until master Yoda interferes for them and they finally can get married. Thanks ! You are awesome 💖
Summary: the request
Genre: fluff
(not my gif)
Tumblr media
You were not sent to be a Jedi until you were 20 which is very old for those who have been practicing the craft since they were younglings. You lived on a planet that didn’t often get much attention from the Jedi or the Sith and when they arrived and found you, already having basic ability to fend and fight for yourself, they decided to bring you back to train. They assigned Obi-Wan to be you master and you were immediately smitten with him. You had never had to stop yourself from falling in love because you didn’t know the Jedi ways yet. And now here you were, with him, smiling and laughing and knowing that even if they tried to take your heart out you would never not be in love with your master.
It was bad enough that he was older than you but he was also your master and also a Jedi. The layers of forbiddenness were astounding. You had to make sure that no one found out about your feelings, especially Obi-Wan.
But he was having a similar crisis. Here his padawan was, an intelligent, badass woman who he couldn’t help but fall in love with. He should have known better than to allow the council to give you to him but he also knew he wouldn’t give you up for the world now. You were his best friend. He recognized that you were younger than him which was making him reel even more about his feelings. You were both Jedi. You could never be together.
The second you realized Obi-Wan loved you too was at a dinner. You were eating with the council and some other padawans and he was boasting about your skills, eyes flashing to where you sat in the table among others your age. You wanted to sit next to him but he was sitting with the Masters. And you knew it was more than admiration. He loved you too.
That night, despite every logic part of your body screaming at you, you confronted him about it. You asked him if he loved you too and when he heard that you loved him he nearly collapsed. This girl, you, his best friend, his padawan, loved him like he loved you.
There was no coming back from that night. There never would be a coming back point. Your lips collided and the fact that you managed to ever keep them apart was amazing.
You walked together to the council. He had a meeting and you were just to check in with your studies and how Obi-Wan was teaching you, that was what the council said when they called you in. Plus, you usually walked him there anyway so it was no big deal.
You were giggling like a schoolgirl and he kept staring at you like you were the world, like he would die without you. If anyone saw you that day and didn’t immediately think ‘the morning after’ they were probably blind. You followed him into the large room and he took a seat in his big pompous chair. They had been waiting on you to begin.
“So do I just tell you guys that Master Kenobi has been great and leave?” you ask, a loopy smile on your face. Windu let out a sigh and you worried your joke had been in bad taste but the whole council looked that way, making your heart drop. You caught Obi-Wan’s eyes and he shrugged his shoulders. He was about to go into protective lover mode when Windu spoke.
“We know about you and Master Kenobi,” he said seriously. Your smile dropped. You could feel the weight of the world falling onto you and refused to meet your lovers eyes in fear that you would start crying.
“Oh,” you finally let out. “What does that mean?” you asked, terrified of the answer. Another member spoke.
“Traditionally it would mean you both leave the order.” If it was possible for your heart to go any lower it did.
“It was my fault. He never did any-” You were cut off by Obi-Wan who saw that you were trying to cover up for him and wouldn’t have it.
“No I took advantage of-”
“Silence you both.” When Yoda tells you to shut up you do it. You turned to look at his small green frame. He was looking between the two of you.
“Means much tradition does. Here not however.” You were confused. You wanted to yell at him to speak clearer but you obviously didn’t. You enjoyed your life.
“Yoda-” Windu started but he held up a little green hand. Windu knew to be quiet.
“Much love you have. Much skill you hold. Afford to lose you both we cannot.” You were still so confused but Obi-Wan looked like he understood.
“You’re going to let me marry her,” he whispered in disbelief. Yoda smiled.
“Front row I want.”
You let out a breath you didn’t know that you were holding and looked at your Obi-Wan and then at the council who seemed to be in agreement.
“I suppose Master Yoda is right. You’re both very crucial to many of the Jedi missions.”
“Marriage granted.”
“He hasn’t even asked me yet,” you giggled. There was a small array of laughter across the room that put you at ease. Obi-Wan rolled his eyes at your words.
“Y/N, would you like to get married?” he asked and you could hear the excitement in his voice. You pretended to think.
“Yes please.”
A meer month later the two of you sat at the top table, overlooking the reception of your wedding. You never thought you would ever get here but you couldn’t be more happy about it. Obi-Wan held your hand as you watched the council of Jedi attempt to go to the dance floor and the commoners over show them. It was an amazing sight.
“Can you imagine I almost wanted to tell you I didn’t love you that night after dinner?” he asked quietly. You put your fork down and leaned into his side. He looked utterly handsome and you were stunning.
“That wouldn’t have gone down well in my head. I would have dug it out somehow love, trust me,” you teased. He rolled his eyes stood up, holding out his hand to you.
“Would you care to dance with me Mrs.Kenobi?” he asked. You made a big show of taking his hand and stood up.
“I would be delighted Mr.Kenobi.”

Halloween with Peter HC
A/N: This is based around Tom Holland’s version of Spider-Man, but if you want to request anything else for the previous versions of Spider-Man then I’d happily oblige.
Tumblr media
Is like a hyped up child when Halloween comes around, dragging you trick or treating.
Peter will probably go as some Star Wars character.
You have to stop him from buying an Iron Man costume just to mess with Tony, even though the thought made you laugh.
Will and has (in the past) steal whatever treats you get from trick or treating. Claims he’s a ‘growing boy’ and needs the energy.
But you two decide to share whatever you got and give the ones you don’t like to Ned.
Stopping by to see the Avengers, Tony is throwing a Halloween party and welcomes you both. Him laughing at Peter's costume.
“What are you supposed to be Peter?”
“I'm a Jedi…”
Thor would find Peter's fake lightsaber fascinating and would swing it around, making Peter almost light-headed since it’s a limited edition.
Dancing with Peter to the music at the party, he takes it a little too far and ends up on the tables.
“You’ve had a bad influence on him.” You’d comment as you looked over at Tony, who only tried to act innocent.
When the night ends, you end up spending time at his house, to which his aunt gives you both suspicious looks.
“It was Peter’s idea.” You would instantly defend yourself.
He tried to act as if it wasn’t but in all honesty, it was, and she could see right through him.
She let you stay the night, which ended with gorging on sweets/chocolate and watching horror movies.
Peter tries to act cool and collected but in fact, he hides behind his pillows or snuggles up to your side.
You weren't going to let this go, and he knew it, but it was any old excuse to cuddle you.
He soon complains of a belly ache, you’re not surprised with all the sugar he’s practically inhaled.

cardigan / p.p
pairing: peter parker x stark!reader
summary: “you thought i was dead?” after you go missing with no leads to what happened, you are presumed dead and peter writes letters addressed to you, to help with his grief
word count: 3k
requested: no
warnings: semi character death, heartbreaking angst :( , fluff
a/n: this is for @ariistotles lovely writing challenge! i am using prompt 9 for my fic and i hope you guys enjoy!
Tumblr media
two days. forty-eight hours. two thousand eighty minutes. one hundred seventy-two thousand, eight hundred seconds. that’s how long you had been missing. the team of avengers, including desperate peter parker sat around a table, staring at the very little evidence they had of your disappearance. it was only two nights ago when you and peter had been cuddled in bed and you had left to go home.
evidently, you never returned home.
peter ran his hands through his hair with frustration, eyes bloodshot red from crying. he was terrified and guilty, knowing if he had just walked you home, he wouldn’t be staring at the picture of you on the screen in front of him.
“we have no leads,” sam wilson stated,” the only evidence is this cardigan.”
peter knew you were wearing it when you left. he recognized the cute patches of stars scattered on the knitted sleeves and the oversized buttons along the ends. it was always so big on you, he didn’t think you would have bought it from that thrift store, but the moment you laid eyes on it, you fell in love with it. you had fixed up the holes and messed up seams, it looked like something someone would shove under a bed. but you took it into your care.
“she was wearing that after she left my apartment,” peter explained, voice cracking. the entire time he had been silent as they investigated your disappearance. “she almost forgot it but i reminded her.”
peter took a glance at the cardigan, instantly taking notice of the blood-stained sleeves.
“we have to find her,” he finally added, one tear slipping down his cheek. tony hadn’t spoken at all, and peter knew why. peter understood what it felt like to lose someone. there was a chance you’d be found again, but it was slim. you were just gone.
the next few days were hell for peter. they hadn’t found anything and all he wanted to believe was that you were at least alive. everyone around him seemed to be giving up already. peter had even overheard tony talking with the other avengers, thinking that you weren’t alive and he’d have to plan a funeral. peter refused to give up, he couldn’t believe the idea that you were dead. there was only a glimmer of hope left in some of the avengers. every day that passed, the more likely it was that you were dead. it wasn’t until two months of searching, they finally gave in.
tony kept the funeral private. it took everything in peter to just crawl out of bed that early morning and may had to help him tie the tie for his suit. his hands trembled too much to get it straight. he didn’t want to believe you were gone, but by this point, he was giving up himself. everything at the funeral was dark, the opposite of what you were like. you always had the brightest of smiles, your hair would always smell like fresh daisies from a meadow. everyone who gathered around was silent, staring at an empty casket, watching it get lowered into the ground.
peter found himself alone after the casket was six feet under and collapsed to his knees in front of the gravestone. tears openly fell down his face, as he stared at the name written on the stone. y/n stark. he wanted to stop making events like this so familiar. first his parents, then uncle ben. now you. the love of his life, the person he dreamed of marrying. some people see this as an unattainable fantasy because when you are young, they assume you know nothing. but peter was sure. you were supposed to be the one. his endgame. but you were gone.
a hand tapped his shoulder revealing the familiar face of tony stark. seeing him made peter fall apart as tony pulled him into a tight embrace. peter finally let it all out. with his shoulders shaking with sobs and soft cries leaving his breathless lips, peter parker was finally showing his grief.
grief was a fickle thing. it constantly changed. peter had been in such disbelief for the past months you were gone, but now he was trying to bargain with what happened. he gave his suit back to tony, he moved on from being spider-man, and tried living normally. he was trying to change himself for you. but it was hard. it took every amount of effort to bring himself out of his bedroom. the only thing that kept him going was the desire to do things you would want him to do. it didn’t take long for aunt may to take peter to a therapist. they could help him sort out the pain he was holding onto.
“tell me about her.”
“y/n was the perfect example of joy,” peter admitted with a desolate tone. “she was always looking to help anyone before herself. something she got from her dad. her hair always smelled amazing, like a garden almost. she liked to braid it, and stick flowers in it. y/n got the idea from tangled…” he paused, staring at the ground. he had planned a date before you went missing. he was going to take you to a lantern festival. where you could recreate the scene from tangled. peter knew how happy it would have made you. but you were gone. you’d never see the lanterns, you’d never live that dream.
“she had a cardigan… something she found at a thrift store, on the ground without a price tag. it had holes in the sleeves and she chose to patch them up with little stars. it was always too big on her, y/n always wore it with everything. i never saw her without it. she once forgot it when we left for a road trip, made me turn around to go get it for her but i was happy to,” a rare smile came onto peter’s face as he thought about the dimples on your cheek when he had put the cardigan around you. the smile faded,” it was the only thing they found when she went missing. it had blood on it and i know something bad happened.”
“i couldn’t stop it. i couldn’t save her.”
the woman in the chair across from him said nothing, just stared at peter as he avoided her gaze. after a couple moments, she began speaking,” you need to figure out a way to say goodbye to y/n. i understand how hard that may seem, but there are ways. i want you to write letters addressed to her. just start with something normal, you don’t have to address her death in the letter, just make it between you and her. the more you write these. the easier it’ll get to let go. “
peter stared at a blank piece of paper for hours that night. he didn’t know how to start. every time he picked up the pen his hand started shaking and he was too scared to write your name. with a frustrated groan, he jumped onto his bed, face buried in his hands. normally, peter would go to you to talk out his stress, to feel your arms around him but he couldn’t have that now.
that’s when he took notice of your cardigan hung on the corner of his bed frame. he took it into his hands, letting out a sigh. it was the only thing he had left out you. the only part of you that was left behind. so peter put it around himself, pulling his arms into the sleeves. it felt like you had your arms around him again and gave him the boost he had been looking for.
so he wrote:
my love y/n,
i don’t want to talk about you being gone yet, just let me have this moment to tell you the things i didn’t say. you were perfect. you are still perfect. i know that sees unbelievable to you, but every moment i shared with you, i cherished like a child would cherish a new toy.
except i never grew tired of you. you always came with new surprises. whether it was the time i thought you had never watched star wars and you admitted to being one of the biggest star wars nerds there is or the time i caught you crying to rom coms when we were friends, wishing you had that kind of romance. you were a hopeless romantic. mj said you were always looking for a disney prince of your own. i hope i was good enough to earn that title. i hope i gave you your dream love story. because every moment i spent with you was something exhilarating and i ever wanted to pass it up.
i just hope i was enough for you.
peter knew the letter was short, but he couldn’t bear to finish. tears marked the page with scratched out words and messy handwriting. he was supposed to write a letter every day. every day until he was able to say one word. goodbye.
slowly he started getting there. very slowly.
every day he wrote a new letter. they consistently got longer, but there were days it got short. he tried his best to avoid talking about you being gone. sometimes the letters were simple, saying i went to the grocery store for the first time in awhile. i saw your favorite snack and ended up buying it. i never liked it until now. i guess you influenced me so much.
there were harder days though. these days the paper would be stained with tears and may would come into his room and would find him crying. those letters always had the words “i miss you” and questioned why you had to go so soon.
there was only one thing he always did when he was writing these letters. he was always wearing your cardigan. he even began wearing it just around the house or to school. may never failed to notice and would wash it for him to wear the next day when peter forgot. having the cardigan around him made him feel comfortable and safe. almost like you were right with him. he even wore it to his second visit with the therapist, four months after your disappearance
“it’s getting easier to write the letters,” the brunette boy admitted, fiddling with the ends of the sleeves. “i’ve wrote so many already. it’s almost like i can still talk to her, even when she’s gone.”
the woman smiled. “that’s good peter.”
“but remember, the goal isn’t to hold on, you have to let go. you have to say goodbye.”
peter hated the sound of it. he couldn’t imagine a life without you in it, he couldn’t imagine moving on from you because every day he still missed you more than anything.
it took another six months for him to finally write a final letter. ten months after you had disappeared.
my love, y/n,
this isn’t an easy one to write. these past few months have been hell but i’ve rolled with the punches. i just left flowers at your gravestone. chrysanthemums, your favorites. it’s always been hard seeing your name on that stone and not seeing you next to me.
i miss every inch of you, y/n. i miss the feeling of your lips on mine and the tender kisses you’d press on my neck. i miss watching you fall asleep, i miss running my hand over your back while you snored. i miss seeing your beautiful face, the one that never failed to make me smile. every time i see a star wars movie come on, i’m reminded of your constant rants about padmé and anakin’s romance and how badass all the women of star wars are. i even still think about the day i met you. we were just kids, and you pushed over some other little kids for me. i think that was the day i knew you were important. it only just now dawned on me.
and the best part about you was when i felt like an old cardigan, under someone’s bed, you put me on and said i was your favorite. just like the one you used to always wear.
but i think the one thing i miss the most is just your voice. you always talked me to sleep on rough nights. it’s the same voice that got me through the trials of being a hero, the one that comforted me after hard patrols and nightmares. it was the one that sang ‘i can see the light’ from the lantern scene from tangled everytime we watched it. it’s the one i miss the most and i’d do anything to hear it again, y/n.
but for now, it’s your turn to listen to me. and listen closely. i love you. you were my soulmate and i still think you are. i loved you then. i love you now. and i’ll love you forever. we’ll see each other again, because you always come back to me. you’re my angel. my love. my dream. my soulmate. my darling. the love of my life. we’re meant to be together. i know one day we’ll find each other. and when we do… i’ll never let go of you again.
y/n stark, just do me a favor. keep on being you. wherever you are. i’ll keep on being me. i’ll carry on for you.
so now i just have to say one more word. one more word that isn’t forever because i know i’ll be with you. you’ll come back to me. i’ll come back to you. because loving you is like being drunk under a streetlight. it’s the thrill of living life and some kind of light near you. even without the light being right beside you. being in love with you is the best thing that has ever happened to me.
so here it is, y/n. here it is.
goodb-
peter was interrupted as he wrote, a hard knock from the door of the apartment. for a second, he waited, but it came again. it sounded urgent by how heavy it was and how frantically the person was knocking. he stumbled out of the chair, leaving the open letter on his desk as he fumbled with the lock. once it opened, peter had begun thinking he was dreaming.
because the person standing in front of the door, was you.
with his jaw slacking, peter rubbed his eyes trying to process what was in front of him. and to think he was about to write the word goodbye, and here you were, back from the dead. his eyes watered slightly as he opened his mouth to speak but no words came. he couldn’t comprehend the fact you were alive. “ y/n… no… how? how are you here? you were dead… this can’t be real.” everything hit him like an oncoming train, he was convinced he was dreaming or hallucinating. was this a test? was this testing him to see if he was actually prepared to say goodbye?
“you thought i was dead?”
this was what brought peter back to reality. he fell to his knees so fast in front of you, the tears falling down without a doubt as sobs left his thin lips, the ones you used to kiss. everything from the past few months came pouring out. “you were dead. everyone gave up and i didn’t want to but i did. i gave up, i failed you. i did the one thing you told me not to do because i was weak. and i couldn’t hold myself together at your funeral…” you knelt down as he sobbed and choked out every word, pulling him to your chest. “i wanted you to be the one to help me, but you weren’t there. you weren’t here to hug me before and i tried holding on for you. i tried and i thought i was never going to get over it and move on and i never did. i never did, y/n ,because i love you and you are the only person who will be constant in my life even if you were to fall out of love.”
“and i wrote you letters. i wrote you so many letters. i was writing one… just before you came… it was the last one, y/n, the one where i was going to say goodbye and now here you are,” peter’s arms wrapped around your waist pulling you closer.
“you don’t have to say goodbye anymore, pete,” you whispered, pressing a kiss to the side of his head before he finally got a clear look at you. you looked no different than before. you had a a few bruises here and there, but you were alive. peter couldn’t believe just how much time passed and you were still the embodiment of beauty in his eyes.
a smile formed on his face, a dimple showing on his cheek,”i knew you’d come back to me.”
with that, he pressed his lips against yours, a hand moving up to cup your cheek as yours moved to his hair, running your hands through the messy brown curls. your lips were soft, just like they used to be and they tasted just like your favorite cherry chapstick that you used to always use. peter relished in the tender moment, butterflies coming alive in his stomach as he pressed his other hand on the small of your back. you both pulled away gently, eyes still closed with foreheads resting against each other.
“i love you,” you said gently, pressing a kiss to the tip of peter’s nose.
he returned it with his own, murmuring,” i love you more.”
his heart fluttered in the comfortable silence and the air still held the same amount of love and adoration for each other as it did before. peter never wanted to give it up and he never wanted to let it go. with the cardigan still wrapped around his shoulders and your arms around him, for the first time in months, peter finally remembered how it feels to be secure and safe.
you both finally stood up, fingers interlocked and right before you both headed inside, you glanced at peter and asked with a laugh:
“is that my cardigan?”

Astro Boy (2009)
American animation has a Disney problem.
More specifically: the groundbreaking work that Walter Elias Disney and his company created for what the typical American style is for animated films has led to a perception, both here and abroad, that it’s primarily for kids and families. And this is not a knock on such a pursuit, but it has led in many ways to the marketplace feeling...homogenized, especially compared to the more diverse stories often found on TV here and globally. There are many, many good films and studios that stick to tried-and-true formulas, to be fair, but it’s only in more recent years that truly inspired visual and story work is starting to emerge outside of the Mouse House or bigger competitors like DreamWorks with films like Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse (and even that is tied to one of the biggest superhero franchises in the world). This was as true in the late 2000s as it is now, and that is the context to which we come to David Bowers and Imagi Studios’ Astro Boy. Which is not a bad film, precisely.
But it’s not what it COULD be.
Based of course on the world-famous manga and anime by legendary creator Osamu Tezuka, this is not quite as seemingly sacrilegious a venture as it might initially appear. After all, Tezuka was famously inspired by Disney himself in terms of art style if not subject matter, and Japan and the United States otherwise have a long history of cross-cultural artistic influence. Witness how Akira Kurosawa took inspiration from American Westerns and noir films for masterpieces like Yojimbo, and how we did it right back for classics like The Magnificent Seven/George Lucas taking heavy inspiration from films like The Hidden Fortress for Star Wars. Additionally, Bowers is a talented animator and director, and Imagi had proven that they could do a more actionized, lower budget-but-still-nice-looking style with TMNT, which still has some of my favorite Ninja Turtles moments and characterizations across the entire franchise. Anime has also been a massive influence on American TV animation in particular with series like Samurai Jack or Avatar: The Last Airbender. And Astro himself has had many adaptations over the years to varying degrees of faithfulness, though the one I’m most familiar with is Naoki Urasawa’s masterful manga Pluto, which updates and streamlines a robotic murder mystery to terrific effect. The issue comes in terms of understanding one’s influences. The above-mentioned projects were so successful and entertaining precisely because they knew the appeal of what they were lifting from and how to synthesize it in a new and fresh way. And while Astro Boy is clearly made with the best intentions in the world and a good heart, I’m not so certain it does, in the end.
The setup is good on paper. As per usual, we start in a modern city (though the polluted surface/class divide feels more like a lift from Battle Angel Alita) where humans largely use robots for labor, war, and servanthood. The inciting incident comes when Toby (Freddie Highmore), the son of Doctor Tenma (Nicolas Cage), sneaks in to a presentation of the Peacekeeper robot, which President Stone (Donald Sutherland) is keen to use to project a sense of military might as he eyes his re-election campaign, though Tenma’s colleague Dr. Elefun (Bill Nighy) strenuously objects to such. Things go wrong, however, and Toby is killed in the process, leaving a grieving Tenma in his wake. He then creates a robot duplicate with a powerful blue energy core as a replacement, but soon finds that the copy is too painful to live with. An argument ensues, Toby 2.0 runs away, which is complicated by Stone still wanting that core for his war machine, and ends up on the surface with a gang of motley kids led by Cora (a pre-Frozen Kristen Bell) and presided over by robot fight runner Hamegg (Nathan Lane). Various action scenes and adventures happen, building, as it must, to a final showdown with Stone.
As said, this is not inherently a bad way to streamline things. Tenma being less ultimately villainous and more sympathetic isn’t an invalid route to go, and Tezuka was no stranger to dubiously eyeing corrupt figures like Stone and their intentions for technological progress. And the opening, too-cheery exposition video is a nice note to begin on in terms of examining the fraught relationship between humans and robots. But it soon starts to feel a little too....easy. One of Tezuka’s strengths was that while he was not entirely kid-UNfriendly (though he certainly had more adult-aimed works), works like the original Astro Boy or Kimba The White Lion (no, we’re not talking Lion King comparisons today, smarter people than me have covered that ground quite thoroughly) were unafraid to bluntly and artfully tackle social issues or darker themes. And while American films are certainly not entirely without subtlety in this regard, there’s a tendency to be more ham-handed and “dumbed down”, for lack of a better phrase.
Stone, for example, is almost immediately a dangerous fool who causes all the problems, which weakens Tenma as a complex character by removing his potential culpability for Toby’s death and the guilt he feels over it and being a too-distant father in life. Elefun is stridently ethical, but is reduced to giving Astro platitudes about blah blah destiny blah blah place in life. There’s a terribly unfunny group of “robot rebels who are not wrong about their mistreatment by humans at all, but we’re supposed to laugh at them because they’re incompetent. And while Cora and her crew are not badly depicted per se, they feel vaguely like a studio note of “Astro needs someone to talk to in the second act”. It all feels like pulled punches, especially since this IS supposed to be darker material (your kid hero DIES fifteen minutes in, but when you don’t see a body, kind of loses some impact). It’s also VERY rushed in terms of its pacing; I’m not opposed to zippy stories that move along quickly, but this barely lets us breathe before it’s time for the next setpiece or comedy bit.
These problems extend to the voice cast, which is inconsistent in terms of quality. I’m not opposed at all to celebrity voices in animation, as I feel that can paradoxically lead to greater diversity in the types of tones and voices we can hear in the field. But they have to be well cast and utilized, and that’s not the case for many here. To start with the positives: while Astro ends up with “least interesting person in the film” syndrome, Highmore acquits himself decently with a barely-slipping American accent, while Bell deserves credit for finding real pathos in what could be a cliched “tough grrrrrl” stereotype, and Lane is perhaps the best performance in the film because he finds a plummy menace in Hamegg, using his innate sleazy likability to charm us at first and then turn that on its head. Bill Nighy is also fine in his sage wisdom as Elefun, Eugene Levy is charmingly bumbling if underused as Orrin, and a few of the side characters like the squeegee/spray bottle pair or Zog stand out thanks to cameos like Alan Tudyk, David Alan Grier, and Samuel L. Motherfucking Jackson.
But there’s two big roles that NEED to work vocally, and they don’t. It pains me to say that Cage doesn’t really land as Tenma since he’s one of my favorite living actors. And all things being fair, he’s certainly not phoning it in, and plays moments like his raw grief well. But Cage is a presence who thrives on adding eccentricity and quirks to what could be “standard” roles, while Tenma is played in the script as incredibly stoic and reserved much of the time. As a result, this handicaps Cage in giving us a portrayal of the driven obsession that we really need for the character beats to land (compare to his work as Noir in Spider-Verse, where his fixations on oddities like the Rubik’s Cube and warmly gruff manner add grounding to his hilarious old-timey delivery). Meanwhile, Sutherland, a truly great actor who can be by turns grandfatherly, sinister, or a combination thereof depending on the project, is spectacularly ill-served by Stone, with most of his performance saddled by dumb jokes and little threat. Had he been able to play this more like his President Snow from The Hunger Games or something akin to Christopher McDonald’s Kent Mansley from The Iron Giant, it’d be far more successful in showing a more gradual turn to outright villainy. Electronically deepening his voice for when he’s controlling the Peacekeeper is an okay touch, but by then, the damage to his credibility has long been done.
Visually, the film’s not terrible by any means; it’s distinctly lower budget than even the bigger films of the time, but it manages to get by on charm and a good sense of how to use the money, much like TMNT. The Americanized Tezuka designs all basically work, though it amuses me that they de-emphasized Astro’s “feminine” features and largely give him clothes for the majority of the film, and the rest function reasonably well as designs, if coming off a bit generic in spots (it succumbs to ye olde CGI film problem of “crowds look indistinct as fuck”). Bowers stages the action cleanly and with minimal noise, a highlight being a gladiatoral brawl with various colorful opponents. A few moments of silent character acting like Tenma wrestling with a key decision stand out well. And the cityscapes are suitably futuristic, with the steampunk surface junkyards serving as well-done contrast. But there is definitely a distinct feeling that they didn’t QUITE push as hard as they could; nowadays, I think you could get a far more faithful and less timidly Americanized sense of design in the vein of what Takashi Yamazaki did for Dragon Quest or Lupin III.
A perfectly OK film like Astro Boy frustrates me more than if it had been outright bad and incompetent. Because it’s clearly not, and I even believe that at one point, this really could’ve been a fresh spin on an age-old story for a modern age, much like Pluto, if less, uh, grimly noir-ish. But there’s too many visible compromises and safe hedging of bets on display. As a result....it never really takes flight.

—WARNING : suspect may be armed and dangerous! MALIK OKOROI, code named URSA MAJOR, is a CREW MEMBER on an unidentified firefly-class ship, traveling through the ‘Verse under the radar. They are known for being detail-oriented, hard-working, self-reliant, serious, and idealistic, but beneath the surface, they have proven to be distrustful, introverted, rude, brash, and pessimist. Although their origin lies somewhere on their home planet VALLURIA, they have been caught by stardust and lost to the great expanse.
YOU ARE YOUR OWN EXPLOSION, BRING US YOUR VERY BEST VIOLENCE.
He is a child of desert, of a nomadic clan travelling the sands of Velluria, chasing the spice. Being on the move is a natural state for him. Travel fast, pack light, do not stay at one place for long. He lives according to this rule, despite the fact that he had left his home planet a long time ago.
He was a troublemaker in his youth, never really trying to follow the stiff rules of Clan’s credo, staring up into the stars dreaming of traveling the verse. The war, ignored by his people, which came to be known as the scavengers of the desert, fighting with equal cruelty both sides for spice, seemed like such a noble cause to him, back then. He was a romantic and a dreamer, a deadly mix for anyone living at Valluria.
Now he sees the cruel wisdom of indifference of his clan. He just never was able to truly embrace it. But he practices out of necessity. Caustic and unapproachable, he does not show how much he cares, rather he tries to hide it. The callousness is his way of dealing with inevitable disappointment - in himself and others. He is a pessimist, but one that help if he sees he can. His actions speaks more of him than words - he will not cry and commiserate with anyone, instead he will grit his teeth and act.
THERE IS NO NEWS, THERE IS ONLY THE TRUTH OF THE SIGNAL.
The planets he left behind are the dirt on his shoes. It’s been long since he had a place of his own. All the essentials fit into his backpack, and he is ready to go. Grab his things and go because his world is always on the verge of undoing. Home is wherever he is.
The memories of his birthplace are sepia colored imagies of thirst and despair. The endless cruises through the desert. Funny, that he didn’t remember the smell of spice, it was the first thing he noticed after setting his foot on the planet many years later. But then, he stopped smelling it after a while. It is all a matter of perspective, ain’t it? The sand gets everywhere, into mouth and eyes, in between his clothes and skin. It covers with a yellowish hue every surface. You breath it in and taste it with the food. But the sand is just a prelude to the real deal. The spice.
The planet eats humans and spits out the spice. A fair trade. More blood than water sank into the sands over the centuries. And perhaps that was one of many reasons it was easy to leave his home and the life he had known - a wish to die for a more worthy cause than this. He was so naive. As if a noble cause could elevate death in some way. Wrong - he almost got his wish and knows that there is nothing noble about death. It is always ugly, painful and lonely. An annihilation every fiber of your body fights against. In the end nothing matters because fear of dying devours all. The fear he had felt while facing his execution wiped out all else, nothing had been more important to him than another breath, another beat of his heart. He was ready to sell his soul for another day. That memory stayed with him and that is why perhaps he ended up fighting the death itself. Patching up wounds, mending broken bones, healing. Again and again. A losing battle, but it is not winning that is important, but fighting.
He should have known better than to let himself be dragged back into the mess of the spice war but his family, his blood, still meant something to him, even if they split ways a long time ago. They remained harsh and cruel people, molded by the the neverending war for the spice. He ought to remember that this never ending battle bury you harder and deeper than the ever moving sandy dunes of this planet. But then, he should have known better so many things - the litany is written is scars on his skin and he carries it with him and repeats during sleepless nights. There is a price on his head, back at Valluria. Many would like to see him dead - a feuds between clans last for generations and never expire. Blood can only be repaid in blood.
The sickness decimated the desert clans and the call for help reached him. So he came back. With a sack full of drugs and skills he put to good use. Why? Maybe because he wanted to help? Maybe because he felt guilty? Perhaps, because he wished for salvation, a chance to right his wrongs (so many of them), hoping this will wash the blood from his hands?
But the price on his head is still valid and he needs to runaway, again. Valluria’s clans never forget. Never forgive.

Japanese Hero Show Case: Tetsujin-28
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The year is 1956, Japan was still recovering from World War II and Tokyo is getting a new landmark with the Tokyo Tower under construction and nearing completion. Akira Kurosawa and Godzilla made their marks on the world 2 years prior.
Amidst all this change, the shadow of the Second World War hung heavily over the nation after its defeat. Some became bitter, others mourned the immense loss of life of families and friends, some proclaimed their unending hatred of the US for being so cruel as to use them as a live testing target of a new weapon. Others who witnessed the horrors of the atomic bomb and the war or heard about it growing up developed an anti-war mentality, wanting to never again experience such tragedy and show the world why war was a bad thing.
We know some of their names because of this thematic narrative: Ishiro Honda and Tomoyuki Tanaka with Godzilla, Yoshiyuki Tomino with Gundam, Shotaro Ishinomori with his Cyborg 009 manga and Go Nagai with Devilman who mused humanity will inevitably destroy itself if it succumbed to violence. Among those many names was Mitsuteru Yokoyama.
Mr. Yokoyama is considered the template builder of many of the anime, tokusatsu and manga genres we now take for granted: Ninjas, Jidaigeki, supernatural and sci-fi, Magical girls and of course, humanoid robots that fight evil controlled by a human.
While Go Nagai is credited as the father of the Super Robot Genre which expanded this to involve them being piloted from the inside by humans, Mitsuteru Yokoyama is the one of the origin points of our modern association of the island nation and robots with the other being the legendary Osamu Tezuka and his creation; Astro Boy.
In an interview with a Japanese magazine, the manga artist said the inspiration of his most beloved creation was one from the terror of war as a child. He said:
"When I was a fifth-grader, the war ended and I returned home from Tottori Prefecture, where I had been evacuated. The city of Kobe had been totally flattened, reduced to ashes. People said it was because of the B-29 bombers...as a child, I was astonished by their terrifying, destructive power."
Adding to this was his fascination of experimental vehicle superweapons the Nazis tested. Despite most of them being impractical or outlandish, their size and seemingly threatening appearance made the creative spark in his mind along with that childhood traumatic horror. A final inspiration was reading Mary Shelly’s Frankenstein, with Yokoyama feeling sympathetic to the Monster as he was not good or evil, just misunderstood and driven to evil by the cruelty of the world. This lead to the idea for a robot who was a superweapon made by the Japanese Imperial Military meant to destroy the Allies, but became a force for good for all mankind in the hands of the succeeding generation.

BIRU no machi ni GAOO  Yoru no HAIUEE ni GAOO DADADADA DAAN to tama ga kuru BABABABA BAAN to haretsu suru BYUUN to tondeku Tetsujin Nijuuhachi-gou!
Original Story: In the 1950s, Dr. Kaneda revealed to his son Shotaro that he had worked on an top-secret experiment during the last phases of the war that would have turned the tide in Japan’s favor had the atomic bombs not dropped and Japan surrendered. A series of powerful giant robots that would have crushed the Allied forces.
Deciding that a device that was intended for war would be able to be used for peaceful purposes, Dr. Kaneda entrusted the 28th model and its remote to his son. Shotaro used it to stop crimes, disasters, kaiju and other robots that had been stolen, created for evil or fallen into the wrong hands. Shotaro is a famous genius private detective and despite this breaking all known reason, he can legally drive his 1953 Austin-Healey (or a Volante depending on the incarnation) around Tokyo despite being 10 years old. Shotaro also has to keep the remote on hand or others could use the powerful Tetsujin-28 for evil.
This story has been adapted several times. Aside from the manga, there was a 1960 tokusatsu TV show. The series is an interesting time capsule... if a bit primitive. See, while things like Godzilla could pull off the scale of giant things on the big silver screen, Japanese TV hadn’t perfected that trick just yet. It would take until Ultra Q and Ultraman to get it just right and the live action adaptation of Giant Robo (another Yokoyama creation) to give TV one of its first baby footsteps into live action giant robots. Thus this incarnation of Tetsujin-28 is giant...by only a foot or two. In other words, he was human sized, which I’m sure disappointed some fans.  Then there was the 1960s anime which was brought over to the US as Gigantor and rebroadcast years later on Cartoon Network. (Oldtaku love this show and have fond memories of it. Remember, without this series as one of the gateways, we wouldn’t have anime here!)
Its next retellings was in 2004 with a reboot anime that followed its own story and a 2005 live action movie that transplanted the events into the 2000s.
An animated reboot film by Imagi Studios was planned, but ultimately terminated as the studio went bankrupt. Interestingly, the trailer showed it borrowed an element from Giant Robo by having Shotaro control Tetsujin-28 with a voice control radio wristwatch.

The 1980 Reboot:
The Reboot moved the story into the 1980s and several things changed. First was Dr. Kaneda built Tetsujin-28 to fight aliens (WWII was a sensitive subject to some TV viewers) who wanted to destroy Earth and conquer the universe. Another change was Shotaro was a junior agent of Interpol. But the most radical change was the star of the show, slimmed down to a sleeker design and stronger than ever. Theme song is pretty good too, because its pure 80s rock/pop.

The TMS made sequel series- Tetsujin 28 FX:
It is the year 2002 and robotics technology has advanced rapidly since the time of Tetsujin-28 back in the ‘50s. Shotaro Kaneda is now a middle aged man who still uses his robot every now and then and mentors young kids to succeed him in his detective agency business and his wife is part of a tech company. Sakaki Electronics wants the children of the world to live by Shotaro’s example and protect the future with new robots. Unfortunately, said robot tech attracts the attention of evil aliens called the Neo Black Group who wish to use them for war. While old Tetsujin puts up a good fight, the tech he runs on is too old to be a match for the evil space menace on his own. Fortunately, a new and improved Tetsujin called the Iron Man Future X Project or Tetsujin-28 FX has been built and is controlled by Shotaro’s son Masato via a remote gun. Together along with thier friends and family, they fight the Neo Black Group to save the Earth!
The original Tetsujin still puts up a good scrap and helps his successor when the situation calls for it, nice of TMS to not render the classic character useless.

(Like father like son!)
The series was planned by Yokoyama himself and is sort of a sequel to the 1960s anime. There is a G Gundam vibe as some of the mechs are very stereotypical, like Iron Eagle, the official robot of the United States of America controlled by Michael Justice! (No, I swear I am not making that name up.)

Look at him, red white and blue with gunmetal gray, covered in bullet bandoliers, has a fighter pilot helmet head and wields a shotgun weapon. All that is missing is a cheeseburger and a cowboy hat!
There was another Tetsujin series recently..Tetsujin-28 go Gao!

But it is more comedy based and has slice of life scenarios. Outside of that, the famed robot did a live action ad for NTT’s wi-fi internet service in 2009.
Powers: Tetsujin-28 is made of a super steel alloy that makes him difficult, and in some cases near impossible, to damage. It has super strength from complex hydraulics that allows it to lift buildings or smash a robot with his bare hands! Tetsujin-28 can also fly using the rocket boosters on his back to carry Shotaro to wherever he needs to go at super speed.
As to be expected from the granddaddy of Japanese Robots, he is awesome based on the fact he doesn’t need any fancy weapons. Simple brute force gets the job done!
Weaknesses: Tetsujin can be controlled by someone else if the remote is stolen or its remote frequency is jammed and manipulated.  It also didn’t work well in the old days when a thunderstorm was going on as the lightning interfered with the signal and made it liable to get zapped. Since its body is made of super steel, intense heat can melt its armor. Lastly, Shotaro is both vulnerable to attack and needs to stay close to Tetsujin-28 in order for it to keep moving.
Tetsujin-28 is a classic character that has transcended its WWII origins and endured for over 60 years. Its influence is everywhere, from Akira to Pacific Rim. Here’s hoping we see more of the lovable potbellied robot in the future!
*flexes arms like Tetsujin-28*
