 Tommy corners Jason in the locker room one day when the end of his junior year is drawing near. He leans against the lockers, most of the other guys have left already, leaving just them and Matt a short distance away towel drying his dark curls. Jason raises an eye at him, curious about what the co-captain, soon to be former as he is graduating this year, of the team wants. “Need something?”

   “You want to be the captain next year right Carver?” Tommy asks as if they do not all know that is exactly what he wants. He only brings it up all the time to anyone who will listen. Annoyingly lists off what he feels are his qualifications as if anyone actually cares.

   Jason perks up, eyes going big and hopeful, is it happening? Is he finally getting what he wants? “Yeah of course!” He slams his locker closed, turning his full attention to Tommy. “I’m going to be the captain?"

   Tommy shoots a look over Jason’s shoulder at Matt who has abandoned his curls to listen to them, both of them sharing a smirk. “Not yet buddy.” Jason’s shoulders droop with disappointment. “There are traditions you have to follow if you want to be captain. You're the front runner, You just have to seal the deal.”

   Jason perks right back up, he can do that he can follow some tradition to be captain, how hard could it be. “What do I have to do?”

   Tommy’s grin is sharp “It’s easy all you have to do to be the new captain is fuck the old one.”
