My headcannon is that no one in the party would feel the need to give them the shovel talk because they know Eddie and Steve well enough to know that they gave the shovel talk to each other. (Edit: Sorry, I meant to themselves, lmao)

Steve: *talking aggressively to his reflection in the mirror* If you hurt this guy, I will give you another concussion, asshole.

Robin: 🤨

Meanwhile, in the Munson trailer, Wayne was watching his nephew do the same exact thing.

Eddie: *glaring at his reflection* Listen up, motherfucker, if you hurt this angel I will reign hellfire and cast you out as Dungeon Master, got me?

Wayne: 🙄

Eddie is definitely someone who hears “You won’t…” and will do ANYTHING that person says to prove them wrong.

Steve, on the other hand, hears “You won’t…” and will agree that he won’t do that because it’s a terrible idea.

The kids have the amazing idea of daring Eddie to kiss Steve. So, when Eddie is driving Max home from school, she blurts out, “You won’t kiss Steve!”

And right away, Max expects him to shoot back, “Yeah I fucking will!” Instead, Eddie is silent for a few moments and replies, “You’re right. I won’t.”

Max goes back to her house and her walkie is blowing up (mainly from Dustin), as everyone in the party is asking what Eddie said and when he’s planning on kissing Steve.

Max responds, “Guys, he said he wouldn’t.”

Everyone’s quiet for a bit, but then they’re all questioning why and asking if Max is lying. When their theories about why Eddie said no die down, Will finally speaks up. “Why don’t we dare Steve to?”

“We all know Steve will say no,” Dustin shoots back.

Will replies, “And we all thought Eddie would say yes.”

Mike immediately agrees with him and soon everyone else is agreeing to the new plan. Tomorrow after school, Dustin will dare Steve to kiss Eddie.

Dustin climbs into Steve’s car and watches as everyone else heads to Max’s house to discuss in person instead of over the walkie-talkies.

Steve, at first, is oblivious to Dustin’s inner conflict on how to bring up the dare. But when Dustin continues thinking in silence, Steve asks, “You alright, man?”

Dustin looks at Steve and yells, “You won’t kiss Eddie!!”

And Steve slams on the breaks and yells back, extremely defensively, “Yes I will!!”

Dustin and Steve stare at each other with wide eyes. And Dustin pushes it further by saying, “You won’t kiss him right now.”

Steve’s chest heaves. He makes a quick u-turn and starts heading towards Eddie’s. They ride in silence and Dustin tries not to laugh as Steve mutters a pep talk under his breath - not knowing he’s talking loud enough that Dustin can hear every word.

Steve pulls up in front of Max’s house and drops Dustin off with a tight smile - obviously extremely nervous to see Eddie.

Dustin giggles, “Good luuuuck!” And sprints into Max’s trailer home. “Guys! It’s happening!!”

Everyone in the party rushes out of Max’s room, and they stare at Dustin who frantically points towards Eddie’s house. All of them run to the front window, elbowing each other out of the way, trying to find a spot as they see Steve make his way to the front door.

Eddie opens his door shortly after Steve knocks looking extremely confused. He starts chatting with Steve for a few moments, nervously twiddling his hair and pulling it in front of his mouth.

“He’s not going to do it,” Mike says.

Everyone shushes him.

Steve awkwardly puts his hand on Eddie’s shoulder, and everyone holds their breath. Even from the distance, the party can see Eddie’s eyes go comically wide as Steve leans in and gently kisses him.

The pair pull away and freeze. The rest of the party remains silent.

Eddie yanks Steve into a kiss and pulls him inside, closing the door behind them.

Everyone in Max’s house starts screaming, jumping up and down while celebrating.

“Woah! Woah!” Dustin yells quieting everyone down. He continues, “Why aren’t we celebrating with them?”

Max raises her eyebrows and says, “I’m pretty sure we don’t want to be with them right now.”

The rest of the party erupts in noises of disgust while Max tries to explain to El what she means.

Meanwhile, Eddie asks Steve if he was dared to kiss him. Steve says he was, and Eddie immediately pulls away and is about to kick him out of the trailer when Steve realizes what he just said.

“I did it because I wanted to, Eddie. I wanted to. I guess I needed a push from Dustin of all people. It isn’t just a dare to me,” Steve says earnestly.

Eddie laughs and says, “Max dared me to as well. I said no because it wasn’t just a dare to me either.”

Steve wraps his arms around Eddie and pulls him into his chest. They hold each other a few moments until Eddie tenses up.

“What’s wrong?” Steve asks.

“You said Dustin dare you to?”

“Yeah.”

Eddie’s eyes widen. And Steve wonders aloud, “Did they…”

Eddie’s eyes flicker towards the door. Both boys race towards it and make their way outside to where Max’s curtains are wide open and all the kids are standing in the window.

Will is the first one to notice the two of them staring at everyone. He nudges everyone and says something that makes everyone slowly turn towards the window.

Eddie snorts which causes Steve to slowly break out in a wide smile.

“Oh no,” Eddie says as the party charges towards them, pulling the pair into a tight hug.

corroded coffin has gotten really popular. im talking 'a stadium full of people for a single show' popular. steve, being eddie's husband, wants to be at every one of his concerts, but can't. and the day that eddie breaks the news of his world tour to steve, a flood of emotion sweep over him. of course, he's ecstatic, because people want to see cc play!

but, he knows he won't be able to go. steve has never left hawkins, and he's afraid something will happen if he does. that's part of the reason. the other part is his job. he can't miss a lot of days, let alone however long the tour takes. he teaches kids, and he can't just stop in the middle of a year. eddie knows steve can't go, but promises to call him everyday.

eddie's flight is early in the morning. steve drives him there, and robin and nancy tag along. they don't know how long it'll be. the drive is mostly quiet, beside the cool breeze from the windows. everyone knows how sad this goodbye is going to be. it's not forever. eddie kept repeating that, hugging steve. robin and nancy weren't sure if he was trying to convince himself or steve, but they were on the verge of tears. eddie and steve share one last kiss, and he walks away with his guitar case slung over one shoulder, and his duffel bag slung over the other.

steve drives home. he's shocked by how much eddie has affected the world. he's upset. over the next year, he keeps imagining eddie playing, and the crowd cheering. imagining him running to eddie on the stage, hugging him. robin and nancy stay over sometimes. the tourism dies down in hawkins. the only reason they were there in the first place is because they wanted to see cc live. eddie knows steve doesn't go out of hawkins, so most of his shows are based there, mostly so steve can watch them. eddie follows through with his promise, calling him every night, bragging about the different foods, and how fancy the hotel is, what some of the fans gave him.

a few more months pass. steve feels numb. eddie is getting tired, and wants more than anything to be back home, with steve. one night, eddie calls steve, and he doesn't pick up. eddie goes into panic mode. he immediately calls robin, and she simply explains the time difference, and how it's 2am in hawkins. eddie's emotions take over, and he just starts to bawl. he misses the morning kisses, he misses steve's smile whenever eddie has a show, he misses not being alone in a bed. and, however nice the fan art, and the gifts may be, he misses steve. he would give anything to be in steve's arms.

turns out, cc finished all of their tour early. he couldn't get in contact with steve, to tell him that he was flying home, and figured it would be better as a surprise. once the band arrives in hawkins, eddie knows steve is at the high school. it's a friday, and around 10 am, so he's teaching a class. perfect. eddie always loved dramatic entrances, and this was an incredible opportunity for one. eddie stops at the front desk, and has to get a visitors pass. he starts walking to steve's classroom, practically bouncing with excitement.

his boots make an echo down the empty hallway, at he makes a stop in front of a door. he quietly knocks. no answer. he knocks again, this time, opening the door, cautiously. steve has his back faced toward him, writing on a chalkboard. the whole class goes silent because 'oh my god superstar eddie munson is standing in our classroom?' one student squeals, and eddie puts a finger over his mouth, getting the kids to stay quiet. as steve is explaining the homework, still faced toward the board, eddie steps closer. eddie has a goofy grin on his face, as he raises his hand. "Mr. Harrington," he says, "what's the homework again?" steve sighs and turns around, and then realizes.

"You guys call him that, right?" eddie asks. steve's mouth is open, and his eyes are glassy. the room is mostly quiet, from confusion, and trying to figure out what the hell eddie munson is doing in their classroom. steve scans eddie's body. eddie's hair is longer, even longer than it was. he's wearing new rings, but still has his wedding ring on his middle finger as he did when he left. the bell rings, and as some of the kids flow out, some ask for signatures, and eddie scribbles something down on a piece of paper for each of them. the last student walks out, admiring the gibberish on their paper. steve stands still, tears slowly running down his face.

eddie steps toward him, and steve runs to eddie, practically jumping into his arms, sobs coming from both of them. robin walks in, and gasps. eddie doesn't let go. he never wants to. steve has some stubble, and his hair has grown out. steve sinks his face deeper in eddie's shoulder. he doesn't want to let go either. god, he's missed this. that part of steve that disappeared when eddie left, is finally there. like a puzzle piece.

eddie is his puzzle piece. the one that fits perfectly into place, and connects the other pieces. he's never loved a person more. robin will always be steve's platonic soulmate, but eddie.. eddie is his not platonic soulmate. and everything is okay again. steve is okay. eddie's okay. no more empty beds, no more envisioning the other's face, no more feeling empty. no more.

I don’t think it’s far off to assume that Eddie Munson was definitely in theatre. Due to Hellfire being held in the Hawkins Drama departments room, whether it was a storage room or performance space, you could imagine he might have had a good relationship with the Theatre Director. With the way Eddie is so talented at storytelling his eye might have been valued in some way. Shadowing the director as a sort of aid. Someone to bounce ideas off of.  When the plays are stories, Eddie is fascinated in, he might even lend hands to anyone as someone to run lines with.  Robin being casted as the understudy to the lead role after auditioning for the part on a whim. Volunteers for the plays weren’t aways easy to find, so skill levels definitely varied throughout. Robin knowing, she wasn’t going to get the lead, and feeling confident the girl she was understudying for would make the show.  In a last-minute moment, Robin’s being asked to step up. Eddie’s running in to help her prepare. Spending hours running through lines, shooting for acceptability.  They are some of the last people there, besides backstage crew that is setting up. Steve Harrington being dragged in to help, working to earn some extra credit for one of his classes. It’s a little bit of light construction. Nailing boards together to hold up background pieces. It helps his grade. Gets him out of his house on a socially dead night and saves him a trip to the gym. Wins all around.  “Kiss” Robin squeaks. Eyes going wide, searching Eddie’s face for something that told her they’d skip it. “No one said anything about a kissing scene”  The reaction Robin was looking for never came.  “Oh, don’t worry about its Robin. It’s a stage kiss. Real simple you don’t even get that close. Purely illusion... here I will show you” Eddie hopped off of the stool he’d perched himself on, walking toward the end of the stage. “Harrington... I need you for a minute. Robin here’s freaking out about a little kiss.”  The jock paused... setting down the tools he’d been working with off on a table.Walking out onto the stage to join the pair.  “I just want to show her how to do a stage kiss man... It will be really quick. Just so she can see it. “  “But I am a guy? “Steve questioned.  “You are also the only other person in the room right now. It’s quick, and I am not actually going to kiss you big boy. It’s all fake.”  “Okay. just make it quick” Steve hesitated.  True to his word. Eddie barely brushed his thumb against Steve’s upper lip to keep them separated. One time at a normal speed to show what it is supposed to look like and then one halved attempt at a slower speed. To show what's actually happening.  The kissing scene gets scrapped. Robin does great.  Steve Harrington leaves to slowly begin his bisexual panic over just being in relatively close proximity to Eddie for a minute.  When Robin eventually comes out to Steve in the bathroom at Starcourt.. and their friendship begins. it isn’t long before Steve comes out as bisexual. (Not at the same time of course to be respectful, but a few weeks later. )

Steve falls in love fast and hard, he's clingy and possessive (in the sense he loves seeing you in his clothes, wearing something that shows you're his).

He's always found this to be something that's off putting to people he dates and normally ends in him getting his heart broken.

But Eddie loves it. He thrives off the attention, craves the love and enjoys flaunting around in Steve's letterman jacket around friends (and wearing his class ring the rest of the time - for the sake of subtlety).

Eddie leans into the touches, the clinginess and pretty much hangs off Steve like a koala whenever he can.

(P.S. also love the HC that Eddie thinks Steve's sass and bitchiness is fan-fucking-tastic!)

It's the ungodly decade of the 2020s and Steve does the "I'm with the band" fashion trend on tiktok.

He starts with some metal bands Eddie introduced him to, wearing black and leather and whatnot.

The last band, however, is the legendary metal band "Corroded Coffin". For this band, he wears his usual outfit, sweater and everything.

However, he places his hand close to the camera to show off his ✨wedding ring✨

I made the mistake of listening to WhiteSnake & Poison at 3am and now I'm sobbing...so this happened..I genuinely am so so sorry for this, but I couldn't get it out of my mind 😭😭😭😭

Heartbroken Steve Harrington who starts listening to Eddie's favorite bands jus to feel like he's still around.

Heartbroken Steve who sleeps curled around Eddie's jacket every night, even going as far as buying a bottle of the cologne Eddie wore so the vest will continue smelling at least a little like him.

Heartbroken Steve who can't handle the idea of ever leaving Hawkins, no matter how badly he wanted to, because every place he had ever been around Eddie is in Hawkins.

Heartbroken Steve jus trying to make it on his own after losing the first person he ever truly loved; a year passes and he's started buying new albums that he thinks Eddie would like.

Heartbroken Steve hearing "Here I Go Again" by White snake for the first time after buying their new album on the memorial of Eddie's death.

Heartbroken Steve sitting at the picnic tables of Eddie's trailer park, carving E.M into the worn wood with tears falling down his face as the song plays thru the headphones of his walkman. "Here I go again on my own..going down the only road I've ever known."

Heartbroken Steve wiping his tears, stopping for a moment to drop off some much needed dinner for Wayne, and then heading to the school to pick up his little nuggets because God knows Steve has to find something to keep him going and that something is his found family.

Eddie Munson has a tiny five pound dog who thinks they're much scarier than they actually are. Eddie will literally stand behind the dog to do the actual scaring to make his dog feel like he's being terrifying. He made a special pocket for the inside of his jacket to carry the dog in. Eddie will take little Ozzy everywhere he goes. Ozzy's full name is Princess Ozzy Munson-Harrington, and she is the apple of both her parents' eyes.

When Steve lays on his stomach, she will crawl up the ramp Dustin had made for her and plop down directly onto Steve’s butt which makes Eddie giggle like crazy. She's obsessed with all things Steve and will follow him everywhere, including to the bathroom. Eddie will pout about it sometimes because she was supposed to be his dog, and Steve hadn't even wanted a dog. Now, they love each other a little too much. Her favorite thing in the world to do is sit on the porch with both of her dads and watch the rain fall. I was thinking of my own little hellhound when I wrote this. 🥰

Eddie and Steve try dating in secret but the kids keep interrupting their date nights or are just always around.

Dustin keeps crashing movie night and insists on sitting between them.

Lucas interrupts their dinner to plot how he’s going to win Max back.

Max bangs on Eddie’s trailer in the middle of the night because she wants to show them something cool El can do. (Eddie and Steve struggle to put their clothes back on in record time).

Mike constantly hovers around Eddie whenever he gets the chance, and Will tags along. Mike constantly complains about Steve being there, but Will defends Steve. (Mike and Will refuse to admit they have small crushes on Eddie and Steve respectively).

When they all show up on their one month anniversary (which Steve and Eddie have both put a lot of thought into and even asked Robin and Nancy to keep the kids away), Steve finally breaks. He tells everyone that they’re dating, and Eddie shyly puts his hair in front of his mouth, so happy that Steve finally told everyone.

Max yells, “Finally! Next up is Robin and Nancy!”

All the kids leave at once to likely disturb the other not so secret couple.

-eddie, under his breath, “all the fucking ti-OW”

-steve politely asks eddie to leave

-steve, the CEO of ‘i’m sorry about him’

-on the drive home, eddie defends himself saying that his answers were actually way more descriptive

-steve in the kitchen with a little apron and 4 kids hanging off his neck, attached to his legs, in fits of giggles while he flips pancakes

-eddie with one (1) child on his hip, happily taking out plates and whistling queen songs

-eddie looks at steve holding their youngest on his hip, “I’m helping :D”

-steddie taking their kid to the dentist and the dentist says absolutely no sweets for the next hour -but all the kid has to do is pout and eddie will give in and give them a chocolate or two

-if the kid cries eddie cries period

-steve making sure him and eddie have time off to see their childrens dance recitals, sports games, productions, etc

-steddie clapping louder than any other parent

-all of their children also coming to their siblings recitals, steddie sat a few seats away from each other with all the kids sitting on their own seats in between them, apart from the youngest who sits on eddie’s lap so he can take her little hands and clap with them

-steve’s parents weren’t present so he is making sure his kids feel supported and feel how much he is beaming with pride at them constantly

-ALWAYS hanging up every single drawing or certificate on the fridge

-steve absolutely sobbing his heart out every time their kids advance to the next grade

-sniffles “my babies, where did the time go”

-eddie lets the kids get away with swearing as long as steve doesn’t hear

- ‘fuck’

-steve, popping his head out from the kitchen, “what did you say?!”

-eddie, “he said fudge”

-say it with me, MATCHING HALLOWEEN COSTUMES

-dressing up his kiddos as different animals

-him and steve are the zookeepers

-steddie dressing up their softest/smallest kiddo as a tiger or lion and trying to get them to be intimidating

- “rawr for us!” >:) “wowie how intimidating!”

-eddie play fighting with his children

-steve going even more soft if his child (or eddie!) is sick :c

-cooks anything they want, makes sure everyone’s quiet so they can rest, makes them bubble baths to cheer them up, and lots and lots of cuddles

-and tickles their little feet to make sure they can still laugh

-because in the munson-harrington household, laughter is the best medicine

Whenever Steve and Eddie ever get into a inconvenient argument (which are rare) Eddie always makes sure to storm to his room before it can be resolved. He has even gone as far as forcing Steve to break up with him for a solid twenty minutes. (Of course they don’t really break up) Only so he can blare “Goodbye to Romance” by Ozzy. Like I love this idea that Steve is Eddie’s first person he’s ever dated and possibly the last and he’s irrationally upset he doesn’t get to have the full effect of break up music. Just-

Eddie: *music blaring from his his room with the door closed*

Dustin: What pissed in his cheerios?

Steve: *calmly reading a newspaper* I broke up with him

Eddie: *faintly in the background yelling as the song loops and restarts again* everybody’s having fun, except me I’m the lonely one, I live in shaaaameee. I say Goodbye to romance!

Dustin: you what?!

Eddie: *aggressively singing louder* I’VE BEEN THE KING IVE BEEN THE CLOWN NOW BROKEN WINGS CANT HOLD ME DOWN- I’m free again THE JESTER WITH THE BROKEN CROWN IT WONT BE ME THIS TIME.

*loud smacking noise*

Steve: *not looking up from what he was reading* you okay munson!

Eddie: Stevie? Can you help me?

Steve: *folding the paper up as he calmly stands up stretching a bit, checking his watch* that was barely five minutes of being single and he’s nearly killed himself. Welp, now I have to ask him to by boyfriend for the numerous time this week.

I see a lot of posts about Steve having his oh moment about Eddie but not enough of the other way round.

Casually shrugging off the feeling he gets in his chest when he see Steve interacting with the kids.

The light flush creeping across his face when Steve stands a little too closely or leans into his personal space.

The way Steve's laugh makes his face light up and how Eddie has decided it's his life mission to make Steve laugh and smile as much as possible.

But then one day they're sat alone in Eddie's room, coming down from a high, and he looks over at this beautiful, brave, smart man laid out on his bed and he suddenly realises all these things he has been feeling....they're not platonic feelings, he really fucking likes Steve.

Part of him is infuriated with himself for falling for the ex-jock, the ladies man, 'the hair', King Steve. But then he remembers, Steve is a good dude.

They've been to hell and back together and damn right Eddie Munson likes Steve Harrington.

Eddie coming home drunk and staring longingly at a picture of Steve. “I wonder when my husband will come back from the war. I miss you so.”

Steve walks out to see his boyfriend plastered, almost kissing the frame. “Babe, I was in the bathroom. Also, as much as this pains me, we aren’t married.

Eddie, completely unfazed by his misplaced longing. “Yet, we aren’t married yet.”

Steve's face softens as he walks over to kiss Eddie on the forehead, “Yea, babe. Not yet.”
