title: please don’t call me pretty.
alt universe- ‘king’ steve harrington is pretty much not the king here.
CW: negative self-talk, slight mention of self harm, self esteem issues, mentions of bullying, mentions of child abuse, and restrictive eating.
‘pretty’ was a word steve would absolutely not use to describe himself.
in fact, he’d never been called pretty before. not once. he was called the opposite, quite often.
of course he knew he wasn’t great looking; wasn’t outstanding or worthy of mentioning, but he didn’t think he was so bad he needed to be made fun of for it.
no one does. but he was.
ugly was a word he heard every day in middle school, and then home wasn’t any better. fat was a common word there.
“cut your hair, ugly,” people would sneer in his face. shove him into lockers, corner him in the library, single him out in p.e.; anything they could do to get their hands on him, they would.
numerous times he showed up at his home with a black eye, marks on his face, cut lips, bruised ribs; limping his way home.
“maybe you should see a doctor about your weight, steven. lose some weight?”
“that shirt seems to be fitting too tight, doesn’t it, steven?”
“yes mother,” he would respond. and so he slowly began to work out more, began lying about eating at school and saying he ate a big lunch. skipping meals became a bad habit, but at least he was seeing results.
and after years and years of being told he was ugly, unattractive, fat; he kept believing it. he didn’t think he would ever stop since in the mirror it was all he saw.
now at eighteen, a senior in his second semester of high school, he still thought he was ugly even though he’d gotten notes slipped into his locker a few times. thought he was fat although his cheeks were sunken in, and his ribs could be seen. he was tall enough now that the bullying stopped. he was finally big enough to intimidate and to get people to back off.
so he kept to himself. he wasn’t being cornered in the library anymore, and it became a safe place for him to sit during his free time.
that is where he met his boyfriend, eddie. and eddie was the first one ever to call him attractive. to point out how he never ate. to ask about his days, his home life, his grades, his everything.
of course he liked it. but it felt too good to be true. how could a boy like eddie love someone like him? it didn’t make sense.
“you’re so pretty,” eddie murmured to him the first time he’d spent the night at his trailer. it was 11am on a saturday morning, and the boys had slept in late. steve laid in his arms and looked into his brown eyes then down to the soft smile on his lips. but he himself was not smiling.
getting a compliment for the first time ever felt off. it didn’t feel right. he didn’t deserve one. he was too big, took up too much space, his hair was too frizzy, his acne was too bad, he was too-
“steve?” he called softly. he pulled steve out of his thoughts.
“please don’t call me pretty.” and he slowly crawled out of his arms, laying down but facing away from him.
“i’m sorry, i didn’t mean to make you upset. i- what do-“ he was cut off.
“it’s not you, i don’t think,” he said, curling in a tight ball, “i’ve just never been called that before. it feels weird.”
“you’ve never been called pretty? steve, you’re gorgeous,”
he was in disbelief. not only was he pretty, but he was gorgeous?
“what?” he sat up, turning to him.
“i think you’re like one of the prettiest people i’ve seen. you’re so beautiful, steve. inside and out,”
“but- what? i-i’m ugly. i need to lose weight. my scars-“
“-do not change how pretty you are. and you do not need to lose weight. you’re so skinny, honey. and you’re not ugly,”
“w-what?” he weakly stuttered out. he was shocked.
“you don’t believe me?”
“i… no,” he told him.
“i’m so sorry,” he said back, grabbing his hands and giving a gentle squeeze, “you deserve to be told nice things. i want to tell them to you,”
steve gave a squeeze back, his eyes filling with tears. this was the first time he was ever given a sincere apology.
“i love you,” steve said. and it was the first time he genuinely meant it.
“i love you too,” eddie replied. and steve finally believed something he was told. he was pulled into a hug, and he cried on his bare shoulder for about twenty minutes before calming down.
“i’m going to tell you nice things every day until you believe them, okay?”
he nodded. not like he could stop eddie from doing that, anyway.
“starting with this,” he said, cupping his cheeks, “you are so, so pretty.”
and for once in his life, he finally believed it.
steve harrington was pretty.

GUIDELINES
Rules/Guidelines Docs
Read these rules before interacting, and make sure you can follow them. If you have questions, you’re entirely free to DM me or send an anon ask.
This blog has low or sporadic activity and only threads with mutuals. Side blogs are an exception, since they’ll have to follow with their main blogs. I am fine getting messages from non-mutuals, whether rp blog or not.
I will not follow or thread with people if they are under 18. If you have no listed age (doesn’t have to be exact), you will be assumed to be under 18. Please, don’t try to befriend me if you’re under 18 either.
This blog will not interact with young children’s media characters. Examples are: Steven Universe, Craig of the Creek, Sonic, Scooby-Doo, MLP.
This blog will contain dark subject matter. This ranges from social inequality (although fictitious) to abuse and torture. Bear that in mind when interacting. It’s fine to say when something is too much for you or to just not reply to threads if you need a break from a dark thread. I will attempt to tag things as # [subject matter] cw (example: #body horror cw) or simply the subject matter without the cw part.
Do not reblog threads you aren’t a part of. You can reblog drabbles and art. I will sometimes tag things that are alright to reblog with #ok to rb.
Try to reblog rp memes from the source if possible. I usually won’t get that annoyed if someone forgets to do it, and I don’t employ reblog karma, but I don’t want my notes filled with people not sending me anything either. It doesn’t feel nice.
No godmodding/godmoding or metagaming. Powerful muses are fine, but RP is about making things fun for both parties involved. Things like auto-hitting and taking control of other’s characters without consent does not fit in with that.
OOC =/= IC. Keep the two separate.
No sexually explicit/smut interactions. No sending sexually explicit asks. I may be an adult (past 25, even), but that’s not what I am in this hobby for. I am not sex-repulsed and mature topics and sexual themes can be discussed, but that will be the extent of it on this blog.
No pointless drama. No toxicity. No call-outs. No anon hate. If you don’t like someone, block them. Unless someone does something actually heinous, no amount of drama is worth your energy. Any shitty anon will be immediately blocked.
No racial, lgbt+, religious, ableist or national discrimination. This counts generally ooc, but it counts ic to some extent as well. I understand some characters can be bigots while the mun isn’t, I have characters who hate humans for example, but it’s important to make sure you’re not making people uncomfortable. I rather not rp that myself either.
No underaged shit. No incest shit. No noncon shit. Don’t even think of messaging me to argue your way out of falling under this rule. I am not here to discuss what counts as what. If I don’t like what I see on a blog, I will block it.
Keep irl politics to a minimum. While there’s in-universe politics that may be similar to irl politics and some may reveal a mun’s basic political beliefs, this is an rp/character account. I would like the focus to remain on the characters.
Try not to vague post too much. Sometimes, you may need to make a post addressing a general behavior or making a general announcement, but it’s best to address someone privately and directly if it is about them. I understand that some people may feel too nervous to do so, but vague posting about a specific individual is not nice and makes people uncomfortable.
Keep ooc negativity to a minimum. Constant or frequent streams of ooc negativity can have a serious negative effect on the mental health of the people you interact with, so it’s important to be mindful. This counts for vague posts as well.
No forced shipping. I am fine with your character having feelings for mine, as long as no one assumes it’s mutual. Generally, it’s better to check with someone ooc before assuming a ship, even if two characters are vibing really well or a ship is canon in the source material the characters are from.
No rushing or ultimatums. If I see someone rushing rp partners or a rules page with something like “If you don’t respond/reach out in two weeks, I’ll block” I will not likely be following back. This is a hobby and people move at their own pace. Mine so happens to be unreliable and dependent on the muse in question. Being expected to hold myself to a deadline would be stressful.
No ask spamming/chain mail. I am fine and happy with being sent a lot of asks and I enjoy the occasional dash game, but try not to do chain asks or send 20 of the same thing. That would be a little much! I’ll get overwhelmed. Thanks for the enthusiasm though. I won’t block anyone over this unless it’s some form of anon hate or harassment.
Be nice, be decent. Have some sense. Don’t be a dick. If anyone treats me like shit, I will have to block and I am under no obligation to explain why or try to talk it out. Anyone is free to block me as well.
No block evasion. If someone blocks you, don’t try to make a new account to bother them. While I understand wanting to know why you were blocked or if you can talk things out, and I am certainly more forgiving than some, it is a breach of someone’s boundaries and that is not alright.
No asking for monetary or business favors. I don’t know you and I do not appreciate people online thinking they can take advantage of me. Do not solicit me to share your rp or commission promos when I don’t know you. Do not ask for free art when you learn I do commissions.
If you want my discord, talk to me over IM first. I generally don’t add just anybody to discord, not even most of my art clients.

This isn't specifically a blog for mature content, however since I use it as a personal space to share my interests and thoughts, it is bound to happen. I use warnings but still I suggest minors to not interact with my content. (May change on this depending on the content I post, however even now I ask people under 16 to DNI)
Basic DNI criteria - I believe it's more comfortable for both of us to just avoid eachother, I'm not here to have debates on the validity of my, my work's or anyone else's existence nor am I here to deal with borderline illegal creeps. Also in general don't be mean to people for dumb reasons, it's not a good look.
Gatekeepers, elitists and fakeclaimers of any kind are not welcome here. They are partypoopers who ruin the mood by putting others down.
My DMs and asks (+anon asks) are open so feel free to chat with me if you don't cross any of my previous boundaries :] I prefer tone tags to be used with me, especially if I don't know you!
You may ask about my queer/neurodivergent/otherkin experiences/thougts respectfully.
I'm open to respectful discussions about religion and spiritualism, however do not invalidate my thoughts on that, I won't invalidate yours either. It's a very scary and uncomfortable experience, so let's keep it interesting and fun instead.
For additional info check my carrd :] You can also follow/reach my on my instagram or check my playlists out on spotify, If you want to chat with me on discord, I'm only comfortable with that after talking here for a while.

-no not the British Invasion…….hate this
-wait the preview has so many good characters and then you get Ketch and Mick at the end like an infestation of roaches that you can’t get rid of
-EILEEN AND SAM FACETIME
-oh Umbridge is still his boss
-Crowley just has Lucifer sitting in a chair
-not a flashback episode for Mick and Ketch ewwwwwwwwwwww
-MAKE YOUR VOICE A MAIL
-I’ve called you three times…
-Crowley. I personally would not give the guy who invented propaganda an opportunity to spread it
-not they’re kidnapping Kelly in broad daylight
-they really said no screentime for Cas this episode. We need more minutes to introduce Renny Rawlings
-group intervention for her to get an abortion
-LMAOOOOOOOO objectively the best thing they could’ve done the funniest thing
-NOOOOO KETCH GET AWAYYYYY FROM HER
-WHY DID THEY DO THISSSSSSSS
-THE DOCTOR DEMON
-this is literally the plot of Steven Universe……….
-Dean worried about Cas…
-the Winchesters and their love interests who keep leaving…
-The music when Dean gets the Colt back…
I’m sorry this was hot garbage. You didn’t need to explain three separate times how Cas wasn’t there. I’m negatively invested in Mick as a character. Kelly needs to abort that baby but the CW refuses to give women free will unless it furthers their plot. Eileen was nice but it was utterly cancelled out by having to see Ketch half naked. Mary would not fucking do that 4/10

wait, how did su piss you off? plz i need gossip
oh mood, I will indulge you 100%, as you are indulging me in turn with this question hahaha
okay first of all, I have to disclaim that I think steven universe is fine. some parts of it are amazing, some parts of it aren't that great, but it has great messages for kids and cute art and brought a complexity to children's television that had been missing from tv for years at the time it was made, and it changed the industry for the better in a bunch of different ways. I've got mad respect for the crew. my gripes are purely personal. I love this show like one loves an imperfect parent; it brings joy and comfort when it isn't busy severely hurting my feelings.
the thing that brought the record scratch "hey wait I don't like that !!" moment for me was how about halfway into the show, the characters start laying way too much into rose quartz. I've always related extremely heavily to rose - her character brought me a lot of comfort when I was a fat teen learning to love my body as well! - so it's hard for me not to feel weirdly hurt at how much her character was dragged through the mud for the sake of the other characters' personal development.
I kept hoping it would eventually let up. so many of the show's themes circle back to "people are a product of their environment and anyone can improve and make a better life for themself given the opportunity", and I sort of assumed that after talking her up as the Best Person Ever, and then talking about her as if she was the Worst Person Ever, her arc would finish with a thematically appropriate "she did what she could with what she had, and by learning to see her good and bad sides equally, steven will learn to love himself as a complex, imperfect person too!", But That Shit Sure Never Happened !
after steven universe future ended with rose's portrait stashed away in storage so the others wouldn't have to look at her anymore, I was honestly genuinely really sad. this character meant a lot to me and I felt angry seeing the narrative refuse to give her the same benefit of the doubt that it extended to way shittier, meaner people in the story who had to be all but dragged into acting nicer, while rose literally killed herself trying to be better. she was allowed a lot of depth and nuance, which is nice, but it was heartbreaking seeing everyone she loved love her a little bit less by the end, even though she fought for literally thousands of years to try to overcome her own problems.
my own feelings aside, I do think this was a misstep in the writing. I think it undermined the show's themes and came off way more mean-spirited than the show tries to be. I think the writers got so caught up in telling kids it's okay to be mad at someone who hurt you by accident, they forgot to commit to everything else the show was about.
it would have been easy to fix the end of her story, too, if you ask me. just one scene toward the end of greg reminiscing about the good times he had with rose and the person she was when she was with him, the person she wanted to be, could have mended so much of the problem. it wouldn't have taken full advantage of her character, but at least it also wouldn't have spit in the face of both the show's core themes and kids in the audience who looked at rose and saw themselves.

Fragments
Everything below is just my opinion; I am in no way trying to say that how I feel about this is the one correct take or whatever.
I know a lot of people like this episode and what happens in it, but I don’t.  I totally understand that some people just don’t want to see any negativity, period, but negativity is not inherently bad or wrong.
Negative opinions, even about something you enjoy, can be valid too - regardless of whether you happen to agree with them or not.
Also I get very salty near the end of this, and that might be entertaining to people who stan this episode?
I am aware that a lot of people – the majority, I’m pretty sure – think that the episode is a masterpiece. And on some level, I see where they’re coming from with that assessment.
The episode is boarded beautifully, the backgrounds – especially during the training montage – are stunning as always.  The music is fantastic, and the performances are great too.  In these respects, Fragments is a stand-out episode; I agree.
Tumblr media
(Like look at this.  Gorgeous.)
However, something that’s bothered me since I saw the episode is the writers’ decision to write it into the story that Steven shatters Jasper.
Now, I know what you’re thinking: I just don’t get it.  I’m purposefully misinterpreting the story to say it’s bad.  Steven brings her back to life; and it’s not like he meant to do it in the first place.  I just don’t have the capacity to understand the sublime nature of the show’s storytelling.  I’m an SU crit and all I want to do is make the real fans feel about themselves for liking it.
Uhhhh... no.  Nah.  That ain’t it chief.
It’s true; I am not a writer.  I’m just a passive consumer of media.  However, I do not agree with the viewpoint that in order to properly understand or critique a thing you need to have the expertise and/or experience in order to make something similar.
For example, if I were to put something I drew when I was 10 years old next to something I drew yesterday, it shouldn’t take a person who has had an education in fine art to tell you that the latter drawing is better-looking than the former.
That’s how I approach media consumption and criticism; when I criticise a writing decision, I am doing so as a consumer.  I’m not saying I could write it better, or even that my opinion is objectively correct and the writer is wrong or bad.  I’m just saying that I didn’t like a thing.  Which, I would hope, is allowed?
Okay, defensive hedging over, back to the point; I don’t like that they had Steven shatter Jasper.
[I get markedly saltier from this point on, fyi]
Tumblr media
Full admission of bias here: one of the things I really cherish about the original show is how they wrote Steven’s character; he’s a boy with interests that don’t rigidly conform to gender stereotypes.  He likes ‘boyish’ things and ‘girly’ things, and that’s okay; thats just him.  In cartoons when I was growing up, characters like Steven would be the butt of jokes about being ‘girly’ or thinly-veiled homophobia.  I find him very relatable, and I want to acknowledge that yes, that is probably a significant part of why I have such an issue with this episode’s twist.
I am not trying to say that he’s a perfect baby angel or whatever; Steven regularly gets frustrated and angry. He does some pretty manipulative and dickish things to people around him (stop trying to make Larsadie happen, Steven. It’s not going to happen).  He is a flawed character who fucks up sometimes. And he’s not 100% peaceful either; he acts violently when he defends himself against corrupted Gems and Homeworld Gems (and Crystal Gems on occasion *cough*Bismuth*cough*).
However, he has a pacifistic temperament; whenever it’s possible, he prefers that problems be solved without needless violence or hurt.  And I like that; in most media, it’s rare to have a male protagonist who wants to solve their problems without jumping straight to punching things.
When he accidentally frees Centipeedle, he convinces the Gems to step off and allow him to try and rehabilitate her peacefully; he even notices that the Gems’ weapons are a trigger for her, and make them put them away.  He frees Lapis against the Gems’ wishes because he recognizes that keeping her prisoner is wrong, and when she steals the ocean, he talks it out and heals her so she can leave Earth peacefully.
He tries to aid Jasper when she starts corrupting, fixes Eyeball’s gemstone when she’s cracked and tries talking Bismuth down when she attacks him with the breaking point.  In all of these situations, his words and help are ignored or rejected; he’s forced to resort to violence.  And it traumatises him.
We get an entire episode dedicated to the fact that he’s been struggling with processing these awful things that happened.
Tumblr media
Even in Future, Steven shows hesitation about engaging in unncecessary violence; he gives into Jasper’s goading for a fight after what’s implied to be dozens of failed tries at making her come to Little Homeschool, and he spends an entire episode trying to keep Lapis from squashing the two rogue Lapis Lazulis.
The only time he hops into a fight willingly is after Eyeball and Aquamarine hold Greg hostage, and even then they pose a clear threat to his and Greg’s safety and have made it clear that they want to hurt him emotionally and physically.  Even at that, he stops and switches tactics to talking them down as soon as they lose their focus and start bickering with each other.
Tumblr media
(I mean, he fails.  But it’s the thought that counts.)
I personally find it really jarring that the writers found it appropriate to write it into the series that this same character – over the course of three (3) days – goes from disliking mindless violence for mindless violence’s sake to happily engaging in the destruction of plants and animals* and has done a total 180 on his willingness to spar with Jasper, to the point that he instigates their rematch.
*(You best believe plenty of small mammals and birds – y’know, like the nest Steven saved in the first episode – died as he and Jasper felled tree after tree, not to mention all of those displaced by the destruction of their habitats, and the potential loss of food sources from some of those trees.)
You’re telling me that it’s a reasonable character beat for this boy to gleefully laugh like an anime supervillain at his sudden new-found joy in fighting, then pin Jasper in place, taunt her for helping him get so strong, and hit her so hard that she breaks into pieces and dies?
Tumblr media
You’re telling me that that’s an in-character thing for Steven Quartz Diamond Cutie-Pie DeMayo Universe do to another character?
(And yes I am purposefully dancing around talking about the mental health stuff because if I did that I’d have to go on a whole other tangent about Growing Pains and fuck I just don’t feel like it right now lmao)
Going back to Mindful Education, another big thing we see Steven struggle with is the idea that his mother shattered Pink Diamond.  This knowledge sits heavily with him; it makes him sympathetic to the Diamonds, even under the circumstances in which he sees them (escaping from the Human Zoo, and being on trial for said murder).
Tumblr media
He sees their grief, and he feels awful.  He questions who Rose Quartz even was.  He knows, based on what Garnet said, that Rose had to do it; there was no other way to free Earth.  But he still feels awful seeing the pain that Pink’s loss has caused Blue and Yellow Diamond.
In Steven Universe, shattering is clearly equated with execution/death multiple times.  When Pearl and Garnet fret over the crack in Amethyst’s gemstone worsening.  When Blue Diamond threatens to break Ruby.  When Bismuth introduces the breaking point, and Steven recoils at the sight of what it does.  If you want to take the fact that Gem shards are sentient and desperate to become whole again into account, you could even argue that it’s a fate worse than death. This particular act of violence is treated very, very seriously.
When we find out that Rose shattered Pink Diamond, there is a season and a half long arc unpacking the implications and consequences of this one action, and how this knowledge forever alters Steven’s mental image of his mother.  And she didn’t even kill anyone.  It was a lie!
Tumblr media
In Steven Universe Future, Steven shatters Jasper 4 episodes before the end of the series.  And it’s only brought up twice; once for a big *gasp* moment during his breakdown in Everything’s Fine, and in I Am My Monster by Pearl, when she has to fill-in Bismuth, Lapis and Peridot.  Notably, it is never discussed around or by Jasper.  Y’know.  The person who actually died.
No indication of how (or even if) what Steven did is affecting his own self-image after his initial breakdown, how Jasper feels about what she went through beyond falling back into the Era 1 and 2 mindset.  No inkling of how the knowledge that Steven killed somebody has affected how anyone in his life thinks or feels about him; when Pearl brings it up in I Am My Monster, she seems to not even really believe it’s true.
If there are any consequences or talks about this incident, they’re skipped over between I Am My Monster and The Future, and we’re expected to assume that Steven and his therapist are dealing with it, I guess?
And yes.  It was an accident.  He did bring her back to life.  But it still happened.  If you hit someone over the head and they stop breathing, just because the paramedics are able to resusitate and stabilize them afterwards doesn’t mean you never hit them.
But here, it’s shoved aside because dwelling on it would take far too much time, and risks framing Steven in an unsympathetic way when he’s meant to be on the cusp of a breakdown.
Tumblr media
It just feels like careless writing to me.  They really, really wanted their big action scene with Steven and Jasper, but didn’t think (or maybe weren’t interested in thinking) about the seriousness or consequences of what Steven shattering someone would entail.
In my opinion, Steven shattering Jasper is one of the cheapest, laziest things they could have ever done with his character (and hers, for that matter).  To me, the entire thing feels entirely out of character.  It’s pure shock value; nothing more.
So yeah.  That particular writing decision just does not work for me.  And if you disagree... well that’s fine?  It’s fine.  We can agree to disagree?  I’ve read a lot of defense/praise for this episode, and honestly even after processing all of those opinions and all the time my thoughts about this plotline have been stewing in my brain, I still feel the same way.

It's all so weird to me because everyone's Garnets are so nice but my Garnet was abusive to me and I get so confused because I get scared evertime I see Garnet angry on the show and how am I suposed to find my canon mates like this?

Do you think it's possible that maybe the diamonds will consider Spinel's feelings? Yellow laughed but she seems to be the odd one out compared to White who showed immediate concern and we know Blue is the diamond that shows the most sympathy. Also from what Steven said it looks like they are a lot better at showing affection and genuine concern now.
hm… readmore for discussion of steven universe
“better” is very much a relative term. only Yellow may have laughed outright, but the other Diamonds didn’t exactly scold her for it. i’m not so sure that expression on White’s face is concern so much as recognition—moments ago she referred to other people as “lesser beings”, and then rolled her eyes when Steven corrected her; and in the movie’s opening sequence, it’s all but directly shown that the Diamonds are doing all this not because they actually care about being better, but in order to please Steven and get him to spend more time with them. he has to directly and forcefully rebuff their attempts to cajole him into living with them—and then he has to do so again at the end of the movie. how genuine can their reform be when they haven’t even stepped down from office or relinquished the power they wield?
it may be that Blue is “nicer” than the others, but she’s always been that way, and yet her apparent positive traits didn’t stop her from helping to create an unspeakably cruel and violent society, abducting human beings to imprison them in a zoo, threatening to shatter Ruby for fusing with Sapphire for all of ten seconds, or bubbling unknown numbers of rose quartzes for a “crime” they had no part in. having an apparently compassionate and tender personality only goes so far when it comes to actually doing the right thing! as far as i can tell, she’s in pretty much the same place as the other Diamonds.
despite the sympathy that the movie’s narrative shows the Diamonds, i’d argue that even if they have genuinely improved, they’re certainly nowhere near qualified to be around someone as hurt and vulnerable as Spinel, especially when it’s because of their actions and the society they created that she suffered so much. she needs good friends, freedom, therapy, and time, not the custody of a bunch of (very recently) ex-genocides and imperial rulers who can barely think about anyone except themselves.

The term "female-coded" absolutely baffles me. But there is no set definition (that I could find).
So, here's my bargain bin version of a deepdive on fem-coded charecters and the fandom that surrounds them. That I did for my friend.
The dissections are in the order of most debated in their respective fandom to personal headcannons that individuals made and are not representative to the whole fandom.
Let us start of by an actively debated topic even on the outer layer of the tags; Steven Universe. All you need to now is that the gems are aliens some of whom live on earth.
In the context of this show the subjects of this discourse are mainly the gems themselves. This is because they often refer to other gems as she/her call eachother "girl" and "woman" occasionally. But, the gems do not have a social push for gender or a biological sign of sex that is observed in humans, in a more objective note they do not have reproductive organs without human influence as discussed by this theory"Using their shape-shifting they can perfectly replicate reproductive organs of organic beings for their "human constructs" in order to reproduce.". Which has led to people speculating whether they are agender or not.
On a more depressing note let's talk about the lack of female characters or even counter parts in male oriented media; action, syfy, superpowers, etc. In the first Avenger movie Black Widow (Natalia Alianovna/Natasha Romanoff) was out numbered 1/5 against her male teammates, but since then we have seen a push for more female superheroes outside fandom i.e. Captain Marvel, Scarlett Witch even Pepper Potts had her small moments. But I have also seen people bring up T0ny S+@rk in decisions of fem-coded charecters. But I have also seen them from the Tumblr monopoly that is the CW Sup3rn@tur@l fandom i.e. baby the car(mostly satire).
Yet, most of these fem-coded analysises I come across from fandoms with mostly male(he/him) characters are just out right hurtful sometimes. Using harmful and untrue stereotypes to somehow prove that their favs are "more attractive for stans" (it was the least aggressive and generally fitting statement). For example,
Lower height
Male love interest
Sarcastic personality
Being "moody"/ having a less than cheery attitude
Lack of participation in violence/ relies on friends or allies to fight some of their shared physical battles.
Being held accountable for the wrongs they have committed
All of which have heavy misogynistic undertones.
But let us not forget the transphobic/bigoted undertones of the theory that suggests that charecters and human beings at large have to be absolutely male/female/non-binary and apply strict rules in their fashion or behavior lest they be coded or subtexted.
In conclusion fandom p0licing is annoying and it's really not a big deal if some kiddie on the internet thinks X charecter has a secret gender or femspionage if you will. This isn't a big deal when women and lgbt+ people get treated way worse than compete with fem-coding and gender subtext (and we should divert our attention to that instead ) so don't bully anyone and cause unnecessary hurt.
But also, best not to treat casual TV shows and other media as some form of high IQ ARG because more often than not you will be greatly dissapointed i.e. "app1e tr33 y@rd g@te". And absolutely don't play into the misogynistic narrative of "moody, weak, damsel in distress = female". We have progressed far away from that.
All charecters brought up in what could be interpreted as negative light are
Not ment to be taken that way and I apologise if it seemed so, I just used examples of what people did
Are lettered out not to be that way
And I do not wish to hurt anyone by this post as this is not directed at anyone in general, but rather a general analysis because I was bored and found the topic interesting so that others may find a cohesive explanation.

As someone who's both Dipper kin and Steven kin, the idea of the two of them meeting in a GFxSU crossover makes me uncomfortable, specially the idea of Mabel getting a crush on Steven. On the other hand beigin a fan of both sources... I see the appeal of the crossover... this is confusing...

I don't really get any memories but every now and then I think about the garden and get upset for a moment. Why didn't she come back for me? There were plenty of damn times Pink could've come back and bring me to Earth, and instead she left me standing in a decaying and rotting garden for 6000 years, creating more secrets and pain for everybody. Ugh, I can't even remember where I was going with this... ~Spinel (Steven Universe)

every time i see a spinel, i'm reminded of a bitter, terrible ex. they did a lot of what spinel does to steven- to me- to me, and i can't stand it. people make it out like spinel's the only victim here. no. it was both of us. -a very bitter and sad steven universe who wishes it didn't have to be this way
