There is a new exhibition called 'La Moda en la Casa de Alba/The Fashion in the House of Alba' at Palacio de Liria in Madrid from October 19th to March 31st. It covers two centuries of the family through their fashion with designs by Charles Frederick Worth, Louise Chéruit, Cristóbal Balenciaga, Flora Villareal, Manuel Pertegaz, and Enmanuel Húngaro. The exhibition includes dresses worn by Empress Eugénie of France, also the Countess of Montijo, and the wedding dresses of Cayetana Fitz-James Stuart, 18th Duchess of Alba, Eugenia Martínez de Irujo, 12th Duchess of Montoro, and Sofía Palazuelo Barroso, Duchess of Huéscar. There are no jewels on display due to security concerns and the cost of insuring them but I noticed in the background of one of the pictures is a portrait of the Duchess of Huéscar wearing the Alba Strawberry Leaf Coronet.

It looks like it was part of the same photo session as the portrait that was found to be on display at Palacio de las Dueñas in Seville in January.

I need to see a better quality picture of Sofia wearing the tiara!

Strawberry leaf ducal-style coronets are very popular amongst Spanish nobility. The one is made of emeralds, diamonds, and pearls and was supposedly a gift from Empress Eugénie to her sister, María Francisca de Sales de Palafox Portocarrero y Kirkpatrick, 16th Duchess of Peñaranda de Duero, wife of the 15th Duke of Alba. Here it is worn by María del Rosario Falcó y Osorio, 21st Countess of Siruela, and María del Rosario de Silva y Gurtubay, 9th Marchioness of San Vicente del Barco, wives of the 16th and 17th Dukes respectively.

Of course it was most famously worn by María del Rosario Cayetana Fitz-James Stuart y Silva, 18th Duchess of Alba, and most titled person in the world before she passed away in 2014.

Day 27 of 31 | Favourite tiara no longer in a royal family | I have quite a few (most of them being the Spanish ones) and I was going to choose the Nizam of Hyderabad Tiara but then I remembered that it still is in the BRF, dismantled to form an ugly thing I gotta say, but that disqualifies the tiara for this soooooo the Strawberry Leaf Tiara it is! I prefer the original setting with the rubies and without the mirroring row at the bottom, but I like it anyways.

MLP Extended AU

I had an idea to make an MLP AU based on G4, but with a lot of G3 ponies and my Symphony Saga OCs as ponies.

A lot of the G3 ponies don’t really have characters or personalities (also the same hairstyle) so I’m “transferring” them to G4 by giving them uniqueness.

The AU also has elements of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon. The world has mysterious dungeons that change shape whenever you go in them, just like in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon. There is also a story of a timid human boy named Shan who transports to the pony world and becomes a pony called Knight Light. He meets other ponies and goes on an adventure where he becomes braver.

The monsters in the dungeon are mostly plant-based and somewhat sentient plants. The ponies cook them into dungeon meals. So there’s an element that resembles Dungeon Meshi.

Putting them all together, the universe is basically ”MLP G4 Extended: Pony Mystery Dungeon Meshi”

Favorite Belgian Tiara: Queen Fabiola's Spanish Wedding Gift Tiara

Okay, hear me out. The Belgians don't have that many tiaras, and this is by far the most flexible one that they do have. Two tiara settings with multiple stone options, a necklace, and removable strawberry leaf pendants? How can you argue with that? I don't love the coronet setting, but it has presence!

This one hasn't been seen since Queen Fabiola died, and it isn't known who inherited it.

The Roots & 'Shrooms Gang OG Favorites: Ashleaf

Ashleaf is a rare minky mandrake rootling with a pale, minty-colored leaf. She's been with the Roots & 'Shrooms Gang since January of 2019.

Ashleaf is a rootling with big personality. She's definitely a diva, with big idea and impeccable fashion sense. Glamor shots are also a thing with her, because... why not? =)

You'll often see her with a hat, sunglasses, a sweater, a flower or bow on her leaf, or wearing one of my rings as a tiara.

Her best friend is Kizzle, and despite their obvious differences, they get along swimmingly. As I mentioned in Kizzle's featurette post, one of their favorite things to do is make bubble tea!

Strawberry milk is her favorite flavor of bubble tea, not only because it's tasty, but because it's pink!

Another of Ashleaf's favorite pastimes is sunning herself, because Summer is her favorite season. She can often be seen sunning herself with friends on the lawn or in lawn chairs.

Ashleaf really loves the sun, the warmth, and the glitz and glamor of all the colorful flowers to be found in the Summer months. Oh, and did I mention her favorite color is pink? Hot pink, pale pink, bubblegum pink, any kind of pink!

And in Fall and Winter, like many other rootlings, she loves to help her human bake.

She really hates the cold of those seasons, but she tries her best to make do with cozy sweaters and blankets.

Ashleaf is the Gang's resident welcome committee. Yes, she's the whole committee all by herself. When you've got this much personality, you don't need anything else! Here she is welcoming a little potted plant into the group.

Her favorite food is apples, specifically Envy apples. Why? She says they're the "most sugary-est"!

Hesse Strawberry Leaf Tiara

Made by Garrard for Alice of the United Kingdom, Grand Duchess of Hesse and by Rhine, it was designed by her father. Left to her son Ernst Ludwig, Grand Duke of Hesse and by Rhine and worn by both his wives, this diadem was in the airplane crash that killed Ernst Ludwig's second wife, son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren. His other son inherited it from his late brother and, as had no children of his own, gave it to his adopeted son Moritz, Margrave of Hesse. It now belongs to the Hessian House Foundation, established by Moritz.
