T3: The #TKSmith #guitar is on loan from my buddy Thomas "Tom", "Tommy", "Prince Tom" Gibson (aka @tomgibson3783)
T4: The strap is by European artisan and friend #TomsVintageStraps (aka @tomsvintagestraps) of Strasbourg.
And lastly, the guitar stand is by @atlasstands. "But wait...", you say, "that doesn't begin with T!" Maybe not (smart ass!), but it was made in Tennessee! Which, last time I consulted an atlas (not the stands kind of Atlas, the book of maps kind of atlas), DID begin with T! So there! 😂
resubmitting my design project at the last minute bc I realized that while I cropped this one Very suggestive image in the actual assignment I sure forgot to crop it in the image citation list and knowing my prof he will scroll through the whole thing on the projector in class and not that my classmates aren't all technically adults but like.. should probably crop it

2.6.23 Lunchtime drawing: My studio mate Yael Ben-Simon, check out her paintings online -- and thanks for sitting for ten minutes so I could make a sketch. Perhaps a new series within this drawing-a-day series, "Brooklyn Navy Yard Artist" portraits.
It’s always worth checking back on old experiments. Back in 2007, my studiomates and I were all getting frustrated with the terrible smell of our ellipse template sets. For those who don’t use them, these things always smell awful. We decided to ask the manufacturer about them.
They wrote back and we blogged about the exchange.
Well I just want to let you know that it’s been 15 years. I checked yesterday, and the templates all still smell like a big bowl of Doritos and feet.
i was getting tattooed today and my artist and his studiomate were discussing the fallout show and i was like i have not seen it but i know the hot goop guy and they were like oh yeah him. no nose guy. and i was like yeah. and my artist goes so is voldemort hot too? and the studiomate says he DOES lack a nose and i was like no. no it’s not the nose thing it’s—but i was actively being poked continuously with a needle in my side and couldn’t focus and finally went ok you need to stop that for a minute so i can explain my passions
Do you work out of a studio at home or do you have a separate building as your studio?? I'm sorry if this is invasive, your art is just gorgeous and I am trying to gauge if I can do the same thing!
No worries! Thank you :3
I personally am in a renting situation, though a very nice one. I share my space with a studiomate who has been for the most part away at grad school! The space is in a big house, we keep it active since the original potter who worked in it for many years has passed away and his widow rents it out to grads from the school I attended. I have an area that is probably 12 x 8 feet to work in, with several tables, a wedging table, large shelves, with a nice sink and a large kiln space in our basement where we have a small test kiln and a medium barrel electric kiln I fire everything else in! We also have a photo booth space for photography in the basement.
I am currently in the process of househunting etc. and fully plan for the next place I live to have an in-home studio though! I like the space I rent but I have limited hours + I hesitate to make more sensitive work when other people are looking at me working haha. I am really looking forward to having my own place.
Please let me know if you have further questions or want specifics, I can totally give you a rundown on what I would consider 'essential' things to have in a sculpture studio space so that it would run efficiently for you :) (I can also take a video or photos of my workspace if yall would like!)
American guitar meets Canadian amp(s): 1968 #Fender#Telecaster & 1972 #Traynor#YGM4#StudioMate.
Oh, I almost forgot! I have some exciting Traynor news:
My friend James at Traynor has invited me to @traynor_amps headquarters for a factory tour and to see the Traynor Museum, where they house their collection of historic vintage amplifiers! My "date" @marshalllespaulfan (who else would I bring to a Traynor factory with me but my amp tech 🤣) and I are just trying to figure out a day when I can get off work and he can extract himself from the literal mountain of amp repairs under which he is currently buried. 😂 But it should be happening quite soon - stay tuned! 😎
PS: the little amp on top of the Studio Mate is also Canadian: it belongs to @malonzi5150 and was made by a company called Kitchener Electronic Industries Ltd. of (you guessed it...) Kitchener, Ontario Canada, which is about 1 hour outside Toronto. It is a real Canadian amp fest around here!
