Welcome to the 4th official tournament held on this blog, this time with a theme chosen by the viewers, for the viewers. We're here to find the most iconic 90s music video of all time! The Great Movie Musical Diva Showdown

Hello and welcome to the first annual Movie Musical Diva Tournament, where we're voting on our favorite Movie Musical Divas from the very first in 1927 all the way through the 20th century. The tournament will begin July 1st at 5:30 p.m. EST. All polls will be open for one week.

Propaganda will be accepted on a rolling basis throughout the tournament. Please send your personal messages, photos, video links, audio bootlegs, etc. by directly reblogging the poll, or tagging @broadwaydivastournament. Submissions will be accepted until June 25th. A running list of all divas already submitted can be found here. Additional propaganda is always welcome.

Eligibility Criteria:

Ladies only. I am ill-equipped to run a tournament involving men and shall leave that up to someone far more capable than I.

We will be lowering the minimum age requirement for this tournament given the inherent ageism within the filming industry. Though it breaks my heart, if we only ran movie musical divas over 45, it would be a small poll indeed.

No children. Sorry Shirley Temple. In the case of someone who began as a child actress and continued into adulthood, this is acceptable.

Must have a significant movie musical career between 1925 and 1999. Actresses whose careers start at the very tail end of the 90s might be considered, but may be cut at my discretion.

Should ideally have at least two or three movie musical credits to their name, though exceptions will be made in cases where systemic racism played a significant role in hindering an actress's career.

Actresses who may not physically appear on film, but whose voices were integral to the making of the movie will be embraced, accepted, and revered. We love and respect ghost voices in this house.

In that vein, if an actress did not do her own singing, she will still be accepted, though I'll be putting that addendum in every poll for transparency's sake. Acting and dancing skills are equally valuable in a movie musical, not just singing.

This poll will only be accepting actresses from live-action films. More on that below.

Which movie musicals count:

Live-action movie musicals. Should the film in question include instances of animation (i.e. Mary Poppins, or The Pirate Movie), this is also acceptable. However, animated movie musicals like many of Disney's golden age catalogue will not be accepted.

The films may be made-for-TV, straight-to-VHS, or premiering in cinema. Because I love the theatre, stage musicals that were adapted for film (though still staged like a theatre piece such as New Faces) will be accepted. Proshots are marginal.

Why 2000 as the cut-off year? Why not just throw in an extra quarter-decade and do all-time movie musicals? Look, the 20th century limit was chosen for one reason and one reason only: so I can submit Bernadette Peters in the 1997 Cinderella. That is it. Were it not for her, I'd have kept this to just Golden Age-era films. So, thank Bernadette for raising the bar.

How will the Divas be paired up?

Partially through arbitrary means, though factors such as time period, star quality, etc. will be considered.

To start, Divas more active in early years will be matched up with each other, and likewise for later years.

Lesser-known Divas will be given their due spotlight and shan't find themselves pinned down by the big stars right away.

One Piece Crack Ship War - Submission post!

Welcome to the One Piece Ship War - crack edition!

What is a crack ship?

A crack ship is a (in this case romantic/sexual) ship that has little to no basis in canon.

When will my ship qualify for this tournament?

They will automatically qualify (after having been submitted) when:

The characters involved have NO canon interaction*, and are not part of the same crew (no matter how popular the ship is).

The characters involved have 1 short canon interaction and less than 10 fics for them on AO3 (as a side pairing counts too)

They might qualify if:**

They have no canon interaction but are part of the same crew or organisation.

They have 1 short canon interaction but more than 10 fics on AO3

They have 1 long canon interactions or 2/3 short ones and less than 10 fics on AO3

They have multiple canon interactions but NO fics on AO3

It's an incredibly funny ship (but you gotta convince me it's crack!)

These ships will not qualify on principal:

ANY ship between Strawhats (honorary Strawhats don't count if they haven't met a certain Strawhat - examples: BrookNami does not qualify, SanjiVivi does not qualify, but BrookVivi would qualify)

The top 25 ships (or something, be sensible) on AO3.

*canon interactions include fillers, cover stories, specials, and movies (though I haven't seen the last 2 yet and I don't remember much of the other ones, so these might slip through, but I'm counting on you to honor this rule). Also, I won't know nor check interactions in the manga (that haven't been animated yet), so something might slip through there as well. Just honor the rules, please.

**Any ships in the 'might qualify' category will be judged on crackyness by me first, and when I'm in doubt, I will put them up for a vote - so expect a few polls for this.

Rules!

All characters must be from One Piece (no OCs).

Must be a crack ship according to above guidelines.

Ships that were in the previous shipping war tournament are allowed in this one too, as long as they follow the previous rule.

No moral limitations. These are fictional characters, not real people. Go wild. (But be prepared for 'problematic' ships to be voted out in round 1 or 2.) I will not start discourse/moral discussions about any ships! (messages about morally questionable ship are likely to be ignored and deleted)

Poly ships are allowed! I will cap them at 5 characters, however, and at least 1 character should follow the interaction rules stated above. (examples: JinbeRobinBrook or KidLawLu are not allowed. RobinNamiKiller would be allowed, on grounds of Killer having no interactions with the other 2 (I think? 😂)) Again, be sensible here.

All characters involved have to be humanoid. No concepts, objects, or full animals (fishmen/merfolk, minks, and Chopper are allowed).

You can submit multiple ships, but use a new form for each ship.

Do not hate on other ships, just support your own.

You are allowed and encouraged to submit fanart! As a lot of these ship won't have official art with all characters in it, it will come down to fanart for the most of it ((bad) edits are also very much allowed). However, it needs to be your own or you need permission from the artist before submitting it! However, if you haven't gotten permission yet when submitting, you can always send me a link to the fanart later. Without picture submitted, there might be a chance your ship will have to compete without a picture.

Keep the main images SFW and spoiler free. Propaganda can contain nsfw stuff and manga spoilers, as long as it's announced up front (eg: [Spoilers ahead]/[nsfw ahead])

I'll be posting four polls a day for now. This number may increase or decrease depending on how many submissions this blog gets.

Rules are as follows:

Only entries submitted through the form linked above will be counted. You can send an ask to check on the progress of a submission, but I will not accept any submissions from the askbox.

No real life people! Fictional depictions of historical figures are allowed, or fictional personas embodied by real people, IE wrestling personas or drag personas.

No figures from real-world mythologies or religions. Characters based on them are allowed. (IE, Persephone from Greek Mythology is disqualified, but Persephone from Hadestown is allowed.)

No Harry Potter characters or MCYT.

OCs are permitted for now, but you must provide a non-picrew image for them and a bit of backstory as to why they embody their card.

You can submit a group of characters for a card if the bond they share is represented by the card itself.

Repeats are allowed and encouraged! If you think Blorbo embodies XYZ card but someone already sent them in for ABC card, just send in a submission and it'll be put in the queue.

If you'd like me to use a tarot design from a specific deck, please specify in the submission. Otherwise I'll assume you want the Rider-Waite version. This includes the Family Guy Death Pose version of the Ten Of Swords.

If you know you want to submit a character but aren't sure which card would work, take a peek at my handy-dandy cheat sheet. It's not a comprehensive list of every interpretation a card can have, but it's where I get the blurbs for each post and it's a good place to start.

My main resources for card meanings and interpretations are wikipedia, thetarotguide.com, and learntarot.com. Different sources have different meanings for the same cards, so if the submitter's explanation and the copy-pasted explanation I give disagree, assume that we're drawing from different sources and that both are valid. Remember folks, this is all in good fun! Be kind to each other and let's all just try to have a good time.

Only NPCs that exist in Exandria is eligible to compete. That means main campaigns, one shots, EXU, ReSlayers Take, and any other Exandrian entity that I may have forgotten.

All the characters that previously competed are provided under the cut. I'm like 99% sure that they all will make it back to the tournament, but feel free to submit/resubmit your favorite character(s) to guarantee that they get in AND to make sure your propaganda is heard. (Also, my computer crashed since the last time I ran this poll, so I have zero (0) pictures saved, so please feel free to submit some of your fave images, I would be eternally grateful)

The survey will be up for 2 weeks, until 01/18. The tournament start date is TBD, depending on a couple of things, but hopefully it will be around the last week of Jan/first week of Feb.

The two things we know about our lone echidna from Angel Island is that his weakness is girls (he's a shy guy) and that he once asked his dad if he could be date men and his dad said no (Archie Comics - also, this is a comedic exaggeration of what actually happened, don't quote me). Clearly, this confused bisexual needs our help, which is why we've gathered here one more time to do another ship battles: this time for Knuckles ships Submit as many ships as you like - the more nominations we get, the bigger the bracket. Most importantly: BE NICE. No bashing of any ship will be welcomed. Use your propaganda to uplift your own ship, not put down others

Any Knuckles ships from any media is welcome - be it the games, comics, cartoons or anything else

Only ships including the character Knuckles the Echidna will be accepted (e.g. Knuckles/Blaze, Knuckles/Vector, etc.). Ships for other characters in the series that do not involve Knuckles (e.g. Tangle/Whisper, Dave/Meh Burger, etc.) may get their own tournaments later on. Submissions that do not follow this rule will be ignored

Submit as many ships as you want, but don't spam submit a single ship

No Knuckles x OC ships. All of your OCs are great and we wouldn't want anyone's feelings hurt by seeing them knocked out :( For the sake of this tournament, an OC is a fan-made character that has never been used nor was created to be used in licensed Sonic media (So yes, you can submit cancelled character ships if any of those apply to Knuckles)

We do accept crossover ships. Preferrably from series that Sonic has officially crossed over with. At the end of submissions there will be a week-long period in which crossover ships will be judged to see if they'll be included

Polycules are welcome

If you have a specific version of the ship that you like, specify what it is and this will be counted as separate to the general ship, e.g. Knuckles/Sonic (general) and Knuckles/Sonic (Boom) would be included as separate ships

Ships pairing Knuckles with younger characters like Cream or Charmy obviously won't be accepted. If a ship is submitted and I'm worried it might make waves, I'll run a poll to see if it should be included in the tournament or not

Also, just gonna put this out there: But Knuckles/Julie-Su and Knuckles/Rouge are acceptable ships for the tournament and I don't want anyone being weird about them. If you feel uncomfortable with them, then mute Knuxouge and KnuxSu

Ugly Outfits Tournament - Submission Form

Welcome to the Ugly Outfits of One Piece tournament, where we decide who - you guessed it - wears the ugliest outfit of One Piece!

Before you submit any outfits, please read the rules.

Rules

You can submit multiple outfits, but use a new submission for each of them, even if they are worn by the same character.

Outfits from all official art is allowed (including openings, covers, live-action, games, etc), but my preference goes to in-story outfits.

Manga spoilers are allowed this one time, but please put a spoiler warning at the start of the propaganda!

Since this is about very specific outfits, you have to provide a picture of the outfit. If you can't copy-paste a link at the moment you submit them, you can send them through asks or direct message (but asks are prefered). In that case, put a 'I will send you one' on the form. Submissions without any picture will be ignored.

Please use the characters full name (no epithet) on the form, to make it easier for me to sort them. Sanji's full name is 'Sanji', in case you were in doubt.

Please clearly specify where the outfit is from (name of the arc, or game, chapter/episode number (if from a specific chapter/episode instead of arc) number of the color spread or cover, number or name of the opening, etc.)

Since I think most outfits will only get a single submission, they will probably all make it in (I might make prelims, I'm not sure yet). Unless there are a lot of submissions and a lot of duplicates, but we'll see about that then.

Most important is to have fun and realize that people have very different tastes! Propaganda as well as anti-propaganda (once the polls are up) is very much encouraged!
