What an amazing drama, so fun to watch. Detective Di has passed and his student Su Wuming takes the reigns for this drama and he is awesome. Along with Lu Lin Feng they go on this stellar journey solving cases and growing as they go. I had a blast watching it. Su Wuming is actually pretty funny and schemes a lot. The supporting cast and love interests are great. Some complained about the FL but she gets better and better as the drama progresses. It was a quality story with tons of twists and turns and in the end there was a promise of more to come. I honestly can’t wait. Definitely recommended!

I'm sure there are more but these are the first ones that come to my mind. Also keep in mind that i'm saying 'bdsm couple' in a very broad sense - there's too much censorship in dramas to have a couple fully go dark - but as far as i remember in these ones we have many interesting dark, bloody, naughty interactions! Our male leads are not exactly princes charming and are not afraid to get their hands dirty <3

Also if anyone has recs about this please let me know!! I thought i've seen a lot of dark couples but i'm clearly lacking

Summary:

On the Huaguo Mountain in the Aolai Kingdom of Dongsheng Shenzhou, there is a spiritual stone that has been exposed to the essence of the sun and the moon, and finally transformed into a clever monkey (played by Fei Zhenxiang). He occupies the mountain as the king, claims to be the Monkey King, visits the Immortal Mountain, makes friends with monsters, is named Wukong, and acquires a unique skill. Then he broke into the Dragon Palace, entered the underworld, and staged a great show of causing havoc in the Heavenly Palace.

Wukong was trapped under the Five Fingers Mountain by Tathagata Buddha. After five hundred years of ups and downs, he finally regained his freedom with the help of Tang Sanzang (Sihan Chen), an eminent monk who sought scriptures from the West. Under the orders of Guanyin Bodhisattva (played by Chen Chong), Wukong honors Monk Tang as his teacher and later conquered Xiao Bailong (played by Wang Shuai), Zhu Bajie (played by Xie Ning), and Monk Sha (played by Mou Fengbin). The master and disciples worked tirelessly and encountered numerous monsters, monsters, and difficulties and obstacles along the way... This film is adapted from "Journey to the West", one of the four classic Chinese classics.

This has a very strong opening, a somewhat ‘uh’ middle, then a good last half. What made me really watch this all the way through is the female lead who’s character and the actor ( Eleanor Lee) who’s acting was spot on. The ‘romance’ though, between her and the male main lead wasn’t really nothing special unfortunately. I just wasn’t feeling the chemistry between them it seemed a bit lacking, don’t get me wrong I mean it was fine for what it was, just none of those sparky sparks. The storyline also does get cliche, it’s the typical kind cliche for this genre, the ‘historical’ kind, where betrayals, conquering, and backstabbing back and forth is the norm. The insert higher power character trying to steal the main lead from the other lead 🙄 (a.k.a. the bitch with a twist) etc. nonetheless this is still quite the fun enjoyable drama. It has a great soundtrack, great cinematography (some scenes that are breathtaking beautiful), everything is pretty well rounded in the episodes. If you love historical cdramas, you’ll probably want to watch this, even if it won’t be all that much memorable.
