Athena was 3 years old when her life first changed. She went from having two doting parents who gave her complete and undivided attention to having to deal with sharing with this new baby they brought home. 

She didn't mind, not really, she learned sharing at preschool and her teacher even told her mom how good she was at it. But it did hurt.. Just a tiny, teensy bit. Her dad paid a bit more attention to the baby, talking about how strong he was going to be, how they could do all these things as father and son. She brushed it off, because mama was all hers. Mama let her sit on the counter while she cooked so that Athena would watch. Mama would brush her hair and braid it for her when she asked. Mama would lift her so she could look at her baby brother and say goodnight, mama who would tuck her tightly into bed and kiss the crown of her head. Mama let her choose the middle name of her baby brother. 

When Dean got a bit older, she finally decided that he was okay. He could move around a bit more and did more than sleep, so Athena decided he was much more interesting. Dad got Dean a small wooden tool set so he could hammer different shapes, and Athena took to helping him. She liked helping, she decided. Helping dean wack plastic against wooden blocks also stopped the soft, hushed conversations between her parents. “She doesn't need to be learning to do handy work” never left her father’s mouth and into her ears, “she’s happy, john.. And she’s bonding with dean” her mother’s soft voice would soothe. Even without her noticing, mama would always stand next to athena. 

Athena’s 7th birthday had come and gone, her space themed party left small stars taped to the walls and the ceiling of her room. In August her mama and dad had sat her and dean down saying they were going to have another sibling. Dean was a bit huffy at first but Athena was excited because she could show her siblings all of the cool things she had to show dean. When she wasn’t at school, athena would pad behind her mother always observing and worried. She was now able to, sort of, comprehend that her mother was pregnant and that the baby was growing inside her. Mary had to assure her multiple times that, no it didn't hurt, and no it wasn't like Alien (Athena then faced many questions on who exactly showed her alien). 

Athena just stared at her new baby brother, he’s very small, was all she could think had she been that small?, she shook that idea away, mama always said she was strong and mighty. She let Dean hold Sam first, after all she got to hold him when he was small. She didn’t mind when dad told dean he could give Sam a middle name, she had got to do the same for him.. It was only fair. When Dean proudly told dad that Sam's middle name was to be Dean of all things, she squawked and looked at her mom “how’s that fair!” her voice filled the hospital room. Mary had just chuckled and smiled at her eldest.

( @sunnynatured ) Elphelt didn't know much about holiday traditions but she heard about one where under a certain plant, you have to kiss the other person that's standing under it as well. Maybe this will be the start of how she becomes a bride! Spotting the hottie across the room, she didn't hesitate at all with approaching him and leaving a kiss on his cheek. "Merry Christmas!" Was there any mistletoe around? Who knows?

He was no stranger to being approached by women of various intent, more to gain the favor of the prince than himself, though he wasn’t oblivious to his own social status that might mark him a target among some, as well. It’s a surprise, however, when a woman e can’t claim to know runs up and pressing a quick kiss to his cheek. 

It’s just his cheek, of course, so he has no interest in giving her grief for what some would see as simple Holiday tradition, given the nearby mistletoe that he’d been woefully unaware of when he picked this spot to stand in.

Dizzy’s a bit of an odd one—not to say that that’s bad necessarily. No, she’s actually odd in a way best described as adorable. Yeah, she’s a little too innocent and it really kicks his natural instincts to protect her into gear, but that’s not what’s endearing about her. 

No, it’s how bold she is without ever realizing as much. Never once has her heard her describe herself as such, but it’s the best word to illustrate what most people wouldn’t be able to do: Ask Gladiolus over, lure him into the path of a mistletoe, then give him a quick peck on the cheek that suggests it’s anything but the mistletoe’s fault. 

Gladio knows an excuse when he sees one.

“Yeah, sure,” he says with a laugh. “Blame the mistletoe. It’s fine, Diz, we all know what the deal is.”
