The Sky: The sky is a beautiful expanse, looked only up to, and strived for in every age. She's beautiful, majestic - Blue, Gold, Purple, Shatteringly sunsetted; She's terrifying - Raining, storming, stopping not without mercy or pity, but rather, furiously raging with a love that tries hard to nourish, but occasionally goes too far; She's white and pure, grey and brewing, black and starry - O, how the stars of her shimmer, her moon and guidance split the terror of dark with the glimpse of a light that never truly leaves. She's always there, shading you from the sun but allowing the parts that we may enjoy, loving us, looking down with that graceful smile of full emptiness.

The Ocean: Similar to the sky, the ocean is a beautiful, wide, expanse of blue. The ocean, my love, however, is a shaky, moving, floor unable to be stood upon; In my eyes, I fear the depths she may pull you to, no mercy nor thoughts, just simple laws begot on her. She is comprised of the soup of life, and life stews in her, yet I cannot. Mysterious, blue, black, sunstopping, large, she brings forth an ecosystem we know not the full expanse of. She is beautiful, yet frightening, but undeservingly so, unjustly condemned by those who lack her skill required.

They've discovered a forgiveness, a love, and a life worth living.

There is a total of 97 identifiable rifts locations - 95 are through base game and Jaws of Hakkon, 2 are done during the 2 years between main game and Trespasser, and 1 happens in the comic Mage Killer.

Tod entered the room he was told to  and stood blankly in the doorway. Before him stood Omega and another strange man, who wore a similar helmet to Omega’s but which lacked a face, instead having just a symbol which looked like the letter A. Both were standing over Cy and William, appearing to be threatening them. 

The new man spoke up when he spotted Tod, “OMEGA!” He turned to Omega, “DID YOU NOT LOCK THE DOOR??”

“YOU WERE THE LAST TO ENTER WHY DIDN’T YOU ALPHA?” Omega retorted.

“LEAVE THIS INSTANT!” Alpha shouted.

Tod was seemingly unfazed by this and calmly pointed to William and Cy, “I’m here for them,” He stated.

“Then you clearly don’t know why they’re here,” Alpha responded, “If you did, you’d know they aren’t worth saving.”

“Liar!” Cy shouted.

“QUIET YOU!” Alpha retorted back. “Actually, Epsilon.” Alpha turned to Cy. “Do you know this boy?”

“He’s my robot, me and William built him.” Cy said.

“William and I,” William responded, under his breath.

“Well Epsilon,” Alpha said, “Did ‘William and you’ tell this robot anything about your old home.”

“Very little,” William said.

“Well then, I suppose it’s my responsibility to inform him.” Alpha began pacing around the room, “You see, here in the Yoosa, for hundreds of years all of its citizens have been unable to touch the sun, at risk of being severely burned if they do. Your creators made an ointment here in this very lab that would cure this problem, they called it ‘Sunstop’. I so generously then let them sell this product under my watch. And let me tell you how they repaid me”

"The Celtic Midwinter is also known as Meán Geimhridh or Grianstad an Gheimhridh in Irish. Solstices and equinoxes were thought to be very important to the pre- and early-Celtic people, as seen through the construction of several tombs whose passages align with the solstice sun, such as Newgrange. These solstices were seen as occurring at the midpoint of each season, hence the name ‘Midwinter’ for the Winter Solstice.

In the Celtic landscapes, the winter solstice is an ancient seasonal rite of passage that is ageless. We do know not when our ancestors first stood together and paused in harmony at midwinter. Irish sacred sites such as the world-famous Newgrange cairn, aligned to the morning’s rising sun tell us that over 5,000 years ago, the winter solstice was important enough to build a temple to this poignant solar event. In Irish Gaelic, solstice is ‘grianstad’ (Gree-ann-stad), literally translating as ‘sunstop’.

The roof-box, as the structure is now called, is situated over a small gap, 20 to 25cm wide, between the first two roofslabs of the passage. It is through this slit that the rays of the rising sun penetrate to the chamber at the time of the midwinter solstice. The roof-box is 90cm high, 1m wide, and 1.2m from front to back.

Today many still gather at Newgrange on winter solstice morn to sing and dance or simply stand in awe as, if skies are clear, the golden orb of the sun peaks above ‘Red Hill’. That this still occurs 5,000 years after Newgrange was built is itself an enthralling phenomenon.

This accuracy in describing the sun’s alignment with the Earth helps us to also momentarily stop and integrate our fast-moving modern lives with this plateau of maximum darkness and minimum light.

The experience of darkness is such a different condition to light and is often sadly stigmatised.
