Role Reversal AU for SVSS! Luo Binghe & Mobei Jun as transmigrators; Shen Yuan and Shang Quinhua as characters?

Who would you cast as the Author, and who as the Fan? What would the story and dynamics be like?

My first thought was that LBH would be the author and MBJ would be the fan (MBJ just gives off fanboy vibes don’t @ me), but when I gave it more thought, I figured Author MBJ would be really fun. Because while MBJ gives off fanboy vibes, LBH gives off unhinged fanboy vibes

And it’s just really funny, the image of cool, unaffected MBJ, who is some successful businessman during the day, going home at night to bust out 10k words of fantasy webnovel that’s a very, exceedingly thin cover for unbridled smut. And his peer, lawfirm heir LBH who covers the front pages with successful case after successful case under his dad and mom’s firm, also going home still dressed in his suit, eager to catch up on the latest chapter because he urgently needs to read more about his favorite character. While he’s constantly mad about how dirty the author writes the scum villain Shen Yuan, he gobbles up any content that’s centered on this character (and owns the body pillow but shut up leave him alone men can have hobbies too shut up).

Meanwhile, Shang Qinghua is living out his tragedy filled life as a half demon-human with parents who are in the violent throes of a xianxia divorce, and also that one cultivator guy Shen Yuan seems to have the sole goal of hunting him down just to make his life even more miserable. Like, are they friends? Are they enemies? Why are you so mean, bro? You saved me from that court intrigue but now you’re ridiculing me within an inch or my life, what’s your deal?!

SQH makes a very pathetic half demon protag, but you know. MBJ likes his men pathetic, so.

Sign-ups are open for MXTX Remix 2024 (@mxtxremix) right now and they close on February 9th. It's a gift exchange for people who already have MDZS, SVSSS, and TGCF fanworks, either art or fic. You can find details such as the eligibility rules, the FAQ, and the sign-up form itself on the AO3 collection profile.

I participated in the MXTX Remix event back in 2021 and it was a lot of fun! I ended up turning someone else's Canon Divergence Liushen fic ("tangled in the hanging tree" by technorat) into a Star Wars / Space Opera AU version of itself, in which Shen Yuan was a symbiote attached to Shen Jiu and they bickered a lot.

I also received "demons don't write what they know" from atarah, which is a Demon Liu Mingyan / Human Sha Hualing fic, inspired by my own Moshang Human/Demon Role Reversal AU.

It's on a shorter time scale than a Big Bang event, so you don't have to make a commitment half-a-year or more in advance: assignments go out on February 13th and assignments are due March 29th. The minimum requirements are also much more manageable: a complete 1,000-word fic or a clean piece of lineart. I think it's potentially a fun entry point into fan events if you've already start creating art or fic for one of these fandoms and are personally interested into dipping your toes into gift exchanges.

There is the pressure of transforming someone else's work into a gift for them, but it can also be fun to play with another fan's stuff, using someone else's story as a structure rather than starting from scratch. Though definitely not for everyone, it can also be interesting to open up your own work to someone else's transformation, and see what about your art or writing speaks to someone else. Examples of previous MXTX Remix works (2021, 2022, 2023) can be found in their parent collection: MXTX Remix.

Do you respond to comments? why/why not? I try! I usually try and respond to all of them, but SYoNR kind of explodes and if I tried to reply to EVERYONE I wouldn't have time to write the fic. Sorry ;A; but I do love them all!!

What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Absolutely no clue. Some of those fics in there I wrote when I was 15 and lemme tell you I pay taxes now. I do not wish to take a peek at what depressed 15 year old me wrote.

It's meant to explore how fucked up their friendship can still be when the roles are reversed. Also I just love codependency and the "I'm your knight and you're my princess" vibes where said princess does NOT want to be that, actually. also it was just me going "hehe" because I haven't actually read or watched hero academia more than like up until Midoriya was given the quirk. An Experimental Fic so to speak.

what are your writing strengths? I think people have said they enjoy the humor and the character interactions? I just really love exploring how a change here or there changes dynamics.

13. The non-canon pairing I find the most intriguing

I guess Qijiu technically isn't canon-canon but that just feels like cheating. I do want to know specifically Binghe's thoughts on Yue Qingyuan though and not even in a shippy way. Has Binghe not noticed how pathetic and sad that man is? I have to know.

Summary: Airplane-Bro, a spy for the Demon Realm, may have accidentally helped set the end of the world in motion and comes to his best friend Cucumber-Bro, a librarian for Cang Qiong Mountain Sect, for help in preventing it. All they have to do is find the right child.

Summary: Shen Yuan is sent to stay with a distant uncle, finds a secret world hidden in a cabinet, and meets a half-demon boy there.

It was pretty easy to assume that dying would be the worst thing that would ever happen to someone. Shen Yuan now had the unfortunate position of being living proof that sometimes even after death worse was yet to come. Although he realized pretty quickly he'd transmigurated it had taken him distressingly long to realize exactly where he was, which had led to equally convenient and inconvenient developments. 

Ones he now wished he'd been able to avoid.

The System tinged ominously at his hesitation and his new 'Shizun' looked at him with an expression similar to a beaten puppy. Reluctantly, Shen Yuan stepped across the threshold of his new room and laid down his small collection of personal items.

'Shizun' hovered at the entrance looking as if he wanted to speak but thinking better of it. He gave Shen Yuan a sweet smile that lit up his entirely too handsome face.

"I'll make something for you to eat," 'Shizun' said firmly. "Wen-shimei says that your food intake needs to be carefully monitored so you'll have your meals here until you're off the diet she's set."

Shen Yuan nodded keeping his face carefully blank, it both hid his mind numbing panic and kept up the distant vibe the character gave off. 'Shizun' waited a moment longer, smile not faltering, before giving the softest sigh and a quiet parting, closing the door as he left to grant his student some privacy. And finally, after days of near constant observation, Shen Yuan was alone.

He fell on the bed, head in his hands and tried not to hyperventilate. 

Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck–

The steady stream of curses had been on a low repeat in the back of his mind since he woke up. His 'Shizun' was Luo Binghe, the main character of that stallion novel Shen Yuan had an abusive relationship with Proud Immortal Demon Way.

In Proud Immortal Demon Way by Airplane Shooting Towards the Sky, Luo Zhenghe was a kind immortal who dedicated himself to rising above the status of his Heavenly Demon blood which he had always kept secret even from his closest friend and eventual first wife Sect Leader Ning Zhengying. He was betrayed though by his ambitious student Shen Qiu, eventually Shen Qingqiu, who always hated and resented his Shizun and was obsessed with his martial aunt the Sect Leader. Shen Qingqiu discovered the truth about his Shizun's heritage and revealed it. Luo Binghe was then cast into the Abyss. Here he found Xin Mo, the infamous sword and his Golden Finger, coming to the realization that he would always suffer.
