Unboxing: Various historical wargames

Recently I ordered a number of historical wargames as I figured it is my thing now, fantasy and science fiction wargaming just does not appeal to me now. Some of the rulebooks I ordered were updates or new editions of rulebooks I already own, these are Hail Caesar second edition, Saga 2.5 and Swordpoint. Others are rules completely new to me such as Lion Rampant, L'art de la Guerre and Milites Mundi. I will go into more detail about these games once I have had chance to read them and hopefully try them out.

Hail Caesar is produced by Warlord Games and came with a resin model of King Richard I 'the Lionheart' and a free sprue of Imperial Roman Auxiliaries. Of my numerous purchases of wargames Hail Caesar is probably my favourite for value for money as when I ordered it it was on sale and I had enough points from Warlord games' reward scheme to get a £35 game for less the £20. I already own a copy of first edition, second edition seemed like a natural choice, I had held off buying it for sometime

The second game on my recently bought list is Saga 2.5, from Studio Tomahawk, the book is an update of the second edition rulebook rather than a completely new edition. The FAQs have been folded into the rulebook thus taking away the need to carry a handful of printed pages.

The third rulebook in my list of new editions and updated rulebooks I needed was the Swordpoint from Gripping Beast. The second edition has been out for a while now and been on my to buy wishlist for nearly as long. When second edition was released Gripping Beast provided a free document that allowed players to carry on using their first edition rulebook, this document was very long with the adjustments to the rules, I caved in in the end and replaced my second edition document with a second edition rulebook.

The first of the completely new to me rulebooks is Lion Rampant. produced by Osprey Publishing. I ordered the book through Amazon and the book arrived through the letterbox with an ominous thud! Thank you amazon man for putting a dent in the back of my nice new hardback rulebook.

Next up is Onyx editions game L'art de la Guerre. The book has a nice piece of art on the cover and what I have read of it is a good solid ruleset.

The final rulebook is Gripping Beasts Milites Mundi which is designed for smaller scale models using the Swordpoint mechanics.

Anyway that is all for now, in the future I shall go into more detail with each one.

Second. They were ready to kill Imogen (or feed her to the Ruiner), and they would have succeeded. Thats also the text.

if BH's responses are not polite or coddling, its bc the fully armed soldiers responded to their presence with violence, right off the rip. violence is hard to meet with politeness, it really fucking is.

BH didnt even intend to say that Imogens carrying predathos. they said it was defeated. the armies didnt need to be here anymore. that was in fact, a reasonable thing to say.

lets not be the foreign army on foreign soil invading a land in protection of their gods. lets... not do that.

its absurd to me that people see how "oh BH are intimidating the armies" as if BH wasnt outed by an angel then a cleric tries to kill Imogen by Summoning Their God before BH could say a word edgewise. To quote Ashton, "that was Rude"

also ignorance would have been bliss - but the situation left BH control when the angels snitched

for better or for worse, imogen wants to save the gods from death by digestion. that is the intent. she doesnt want to fight the armies of several gods (bc she will lose). she is on their side (or she will die. i mean the gods will too but her first! she doesnt want to die).

the armies are afraid, rightfully so, but like thats bc the angels snitched. all BH said was "predathos was defeated. go back". they said nothing like "we about to shakedown your gods for all of their lunch money" (which they might lel but like they didnt say anything intimidating until again... they were threatened!!)

its ABOVE the soldiers' paygrade and i dont think BH would have flaunted that knowledge of predathos in Imogen anyways

lets lay out the scene. a whole army surrounds a group of nine. The nine are beaten to hell and back but still they are kept at bay by weapons. a cold breeze could destroy them. thats text.

what would it take for any of the teetles to trust something magic and/or something from witchtown again?

assuming this is about cc, tbh i dont think there's any completely mending that bridge. there inevitably will be people who will attempt to try, especially once everything with the invasion is over and they're celebrated for the whole. saving the world thing (could be shallow or genuine. is it for social capital or out of genuine remorse and guilt? i do think them attempting to make a gesture of gratitude just to look good could create some juicy drama lmao). but they're really not going to budge. they'd probably make a scene if they were ever approached, leo or mikey especially. raph is FURIOUS about it, but he doesn't like expressing that anger all that much. not unless he's pushed beyond a certain point.

i dont actually know how donnie would take something like that, though? because of course he's upset, but any bitterness that might remain from the whole experience might be rivaled by his revoltingly low self-esteem. although he feels guilty more than anything for his own foolishness putting that kind of trauma and guilt on his brothers, even if he struggles to comprehend he didn't deserve what they did to him. it's a big reason he'll try to punish himself-- he cant hurt them like that, but someone has to, right?

his protectiveness wars with his skewed principles. i do think that on a personal level he would be forgiving to a witch that tried to apologize to him, to the chagrin of his whole family lmfao. i dont think he'd truly mean it, but he would kind of determine it's the best way to avoid further conflict. if they make a good impression, maybe they wont get hurt anymore. maybe donnie wont continue to hurt them anymore, although inadvertently. he'd probably let them kill him if they promised not to hurt his family anymore, but he's working on. that. whole thing. his backbone of fucking Liquid

Caretaker rushed forward anyway... but they missed their target. They looked down, as if they were ashamed, before dropping their weapon.

Whumper recovered then, and smirked, their weapon out and ready to kill Caretaker.

"Good job, Henchman," Whumper laughed. "I knew that Caretaker would do whatever to keep their sweet Whumpee safe." They raised their weapon towards Caretaker. "Now hold still so I can kill you, Caretaker."
