Desmodus came yesterday, and while it wasn’t my first pick of the “World of Versio,” I’m more than happy to mess around with it before trying another firmware this weekend. The tails this thing creates are so instantly beautiful, and there’s a lot of sweet spots having data bender create subtle effects upstream.
This patch is using the subharmonicon as the main voice, going through Bucina for extra filtering. I’m using my favorite trick/combination of tricks where sequence 2 transposes sequence 1 on a much slower clock to create longer melodic progressions. Even slower still is the clock going into data bender which is imparting bends, breaks, and more filtering.
An LFO from Pam’s modulates survey on cold mac to pan the dry signal back and forth. This gets mixes in with the filtered glitches before all going through desmodus. Various parameters across each module is played live for variation.
Meta under the break:
Trying something new! Because soundcloud honestly sucks with how low its space allowance is, I want to try uploading audio directly to tumblr. This is still a temporary solution while I work out some kind of bandcamp or youtube mirroring.
I know this style of post, with just a tiny picture, isn’t the most engaging. For some jams I’d like to film the entire performance, or at least create a fun little blinking light gif for interest. I know people liked packaging pictures of Cold Mac too, but a lot of the time I either can’t be bothered or modules don’t come in as pretty of packaging just coming through reverb.
It doesn’t really matter. I’ll A/B test here and there, but mostly I’m just happy to be sharing music. It’s made me really happy to see even a few people liking and sharing it. I hope you enjoy.

Note
her birthday/original release was technically a joke but i imagine they waited another day to announce it, renri and xia yu yao also got cevio/synth vbs so it's nice teto gets one too (even an updated/newer outfit would've been nice for fanartists). i'd love one for sekka yufu and nizimine kakoi too tho idk how active/if their original creators are still around to do some kinda contract/deal. adachi rei's vb has also had some popular songs done but i imagine some of the older ones would get an opportunity first since he came out a bit more recently compared to everyone (and ahs is selling teto, but hopefully that doesnt mean there won't be a focus on yuki/miku someday even with teto getting a lot of attention now)
I looked on synthv fandom wiki to make sure (I've been updating SynthV TVTropes page with each new voicebank as a hobby so if Synth V Teto was real I wanted to get her posted on there asap) and she's real!!! AAAH!!
I forgot about Xia Yu Yao being from UTAU but it's cool how we now have THREE SynthV voicebanks that were once UTAUloids! I hope we get to see more in the future. I think a Sukone Tei or Yokune Ruko voicebank would be interesting (especially the latter because of the whole "differently gendered versions" thing). I know Namine Ritsu has gotten a release in Ace Studio but I would have liked to see her in SynthV as well. (Yufu and Kakoi are also really nice voices and would probably do super well in synthv since it seems like Dreamtonics really likes softer voices.)
(I also kind of hope Yamine Renri gets an update at some point bc come on. She's not been touched since 2018-19. She badly needs an update or AI version or SOMETHING.)
So far my only "issue" with Teto's SynthV bank is that it sounds too human. I'm so used to hearing Teto sound robotic, even as a CVVC or VCV UTAUloid, that hearing her sound almost human is kind of jarring. But I'm sure once she drops people will figure out how to make her sound like classic Teto again. (Also I'm hoping someone makes a cover of Magnet between her and the Genbu-gender-swap-fake-Teto people have been doing.)
Overall though it's super cool to see such a UTAU icon get into SynthV!! Esp when you consider Kanru Hua's origins as the guy who made Moresampler. While I've not got the cash on hand to buy Teto when she comes out, I'm super excited to see what people cover with her new voice!!

Another cover version of a Jethro Tull favourite of mine. Barrie Barlow´s favourite Tull song, according to an interview I read years ago. I guess he likes it because of that 12/8 pattern that has befuddled me for years. Found in another interview that it´s inspired by Captain Beefheart´s Click Clack: https://youtu.be/uNyOr4h2ZLw
That makes sense. So it´s a blues thing and might at some point be traced back to specific african rhythms? I guess so. Satch Hoyt´s Afro-sonic Mapping project might be a place for a lead on this. Or you, dear reader, do know more on this?
Done on analog synthesizers and occasional electric guitar. Most featured cats live around the corner.

just figured it out
isekai about a guy whose "cheat skill" is that he can make as much corn as he wants, and at first hes super confused and disappointed, but this guy was a big Freeaboo and loved american consumerism and remembers that in America, products from foodstuffs, to plastic, to makeup, to explosives, to fuel, to fabrics, are all synthsized from corn (this is a fact by the way), so he brings the wonders of America's corn-based industry to whatever fantasy world he lands in.

Plucky Ts-L sequence going through Sinc Bucina as a LPG. S&H noise giving it an occasional bassy sound through wavefolder. Strega is in the background playing off of it, using the envelope from Bucina to modulate tones and the alternating Marbles output gate through the agitation generator to control absorb.  Slow tweaking of knobs throughout to change the noise.

April Fool's Day's original motion picture soundtrack is available on vinyl via Varèse Sarabande and Craft Recordings. The score is composed by Charles Bernstein (A Nightmare on Elm Street, Cujo).
This expanded 2xLP deluxe edition includes the original orchestral score for the first time along with the synthsized version of the score and five previously unreleased bonus tracks from Bernstein's archives.
The album is pressed on two color variants: "Killer Crimson" (limited to 500) and black. It's housed in a jacket with liner notes by musician Brian Satterwhite. Priced at $33, it's expected to ship the week of November 10.
