Can I just say that the first chapter of serendipity said so much without actually saying things out right. When I say this I mean it only for Jax. Because you can tell that his feelings for Delilah doesn’t stem from the conception of Abel. The more you read the story you realize those feelings were always there. It’s like prior to them being in a relationship, the times they slept together were from their feelings bubbling over. Like you can say Abel happening was inevitable because they kept trying to bury the connection and attraction they had to each other. You can only bury something for so long, which is why I feel like getting pregnant with Abel forced them to confront it. Therefore IMO he was inevitable. Even the way Jax thinks about her(before being together) and of the time they had spent together, you can tell he kept her in a special place in his heart that had nothing to do with her just being a childhood friend or little sister of his bestfriend.
Thank you for this lovely comment! Really those two were the first SOA couples I am really happy about!

to be continued…
if you’re wondering who’s RED pearl, well if you read the tf2 comic "Loose canon" we can see Blutarch’s assistant, thats her. yes i know she’s Blu but i had already put Bidwell as Blu pearl and we never saw Redmond’s assistant so i put her instead :p
and yes Gray Diamond doesn’t have a pearl, did he shatter it? did he not deserve one bc he was the smallest and weakest of the Diamonds? idk :p we’ll figure it out later maybe lol

underrated g/t trope: a giant who very rarely touches the tiny, and when they do so they’re extremely restrained and methodical about it. they’ll pick up the tiny, but only to move them to another surface or drop them in a pocket, avoiding any extended contact. they’ll never caress the tiny, no cupping their hands around them in a makeshift hug, no softly brushing their back with a giant fingertip. other than when absolutely necessary, they do not touch the tiny at all.
and this isn’t because the giant doesn’t want to. it’s because the giant knows if they hold the tiny, actually hold them, they won’t want to put the tiny down. if they allowed themself anything more than the most clinical touches, they’ll cave entirely. they want nothing more than to hold with this tiny person, hug them and caress them and toy with them and explore them. and it takes all of their restraint to keep it in check.
they don’t hold the tiny, because they know they wouldn’t let go.

as much as I'm a fan of the idea of Kirk spending all of TOS ardently wooing and/or pining after Spock, I have to admit that I'm also kind of in love with the idea of him being entirely unaware of his affections -- right up until the moment that Spock is gone, seemingly for good. It works very well pre-TMP, when Spock has left for Gol, but it's especially heartrending during TWOK, after the warp core.
Kirk is slumped against the glass, still pressed to where Spock lay on the other side, as close to him as he could get. He looks as though he's trying to melt through its surface, as though if he simply tries hard enough he'll be able to touch Spock once again, warm and alive - but the wall remains there, and Spock's flesh remains cold and unmoving. When McCoy goes to pull him away, to take him somewhere warmer and quieter and far away from the corpse of his dead friend, Kirk doesn't stand, doesn't pull himself away from Spock. Instead, he looks up at McCoy with wide, desperate eyes, face pallid and cheeks damp, and says, "Bones...? How long have I been in love with him?"
McCoy has never heard him sound so broken, so fragile. He pulls him into his arms, then, and he can't quite manage to say anything except oh, Jim..., because how can he possibly explain that it's been true since the very beginning? How can he tell Kirk just how much time he would have had, if he had only been able to see?

i cant wait for sap sif to wish to become a star and be free out of spite just for them to become basically loop 2 and leave isat sif sad
i assume you're talking about the au, but loop probably wouldn't do that. wish craft already gave them a screwed up version of their wish of getting them outta there by putting them in isat siffrin's loop and expecting them to help him get out (spoilers: they have no clue either and are lying through their teeth).
but i think if push comes to shove, loop could potentially make a wish when siffrin disappears on everyone in Act 5. maybe something along the lines of "i wish i could take his (isat siffrin's) place", since they're almost exactly the same.

the Universe would probably answer with the same kindness given as before.

just thinking about trent having an embarrassing twitter account that's like, idk, priv and/or just like an anonymous jokey account sort of thing and it regularly tweets things like "The weighted blanket is not enough. i need a man to lay on top of me horizontally and crush me to death. lovingly." and "Just made finger guns at my crush instead of doing what I intended to do, which was apologize. I think maybe I should be shot into the sun?" and "Sorry for being rude. I got anxious and scared. It will happen again" and "'Not all men' you're right. Ted Lasso would never do this to me" <- everyone assumes that's a general celebrity crush/just a joke about a famously really nice guy and like, coach beard actually likes/retweets it so it goes mildly viral and trent is like. This Is Fine. most people assume that this account is run by like, a female tumblr user in her late twenties. no. this is a middle-aged single father and no one realizes this until he tweets something like "My ex-wife just set me up with a man who looks exactly like my straight crush, but worse. You know, because she's evil, and also the funniest person alive. anyway guess who i ran into on the date" or "i am a single middle-aged father and i only JUST NOW found out i have autism. My parents knew when I was three." which is then updated by "WHAT DO YOU MEAN MY EX WIFE KNEW TOO" (she thought it was kind of a given) only to confuse them again when he mentions that time he was pregnant

For your Disassembler OCs; What are their hunting patterns? Are they more scavengers or do they seek out live workers?
When Y was still activly hunting the workers, she was more of an ambush hunter, prefering to stalk them until the right oppertunity to go in for the kill.
T goes all in, if she finds a worker, she'll attack right away and leave nothing behind.
Jinx takes her time. When she finds a worker, she'll follow them to their base or hiding places and gain their trust before she wipes the whole place out.

Continuing on the whole "Alola thinks Mega Evos are bad!" thing... even though there ARE potential dangers associated with Mega Evolution that are touched upon even in the Generation they were introduced in, it was always framed in a way that suggested that any complications with Mega Evos tended to be the result of inexperience or other external factors. Not to mention that some Gen 7 Dex entries absolutely frame certain Mega Evo entries in such a way that it reinforces the cultural bias instead of challenging it. Like they carried out experiments to gather data on Mega Evolutions, but in such a way that the results were guaranteed to favor their already skewed viewpoints that favored the use of Z-Moves instead. Like a "We, the Obviously Biased Group of People, have done an internal investigation on whether or not we are in the wrong about this thing and have concluded that, on totally fair grounds, we are absolutely right and correct about this thing all the time forever." sort of thing.
Oh I really like this take, especially considering that we have a shady scientific organisation in Alola that could have absolutely fed into these "findings" through questionable studies (*cough cough* Aether Foundation *cough cough*)

any recommendations for light/silly fantasy for someone who's read most of them? favourites are: finding home by hari conner, so this is ever after, emily wilde, the ruthless lady's guide to wizardry, legends and lattes, terry pratchett. also liked the very secrety society of irregular witches, the league of gentlewomen witches, tress of the emerald sea, some other f t lukens books, swordheart, fangs by sarah anderson. so anything with those vibes that are not one of those. I do want to read half a soul and psalm for the wild-built but I can't get them currently through my library.
Wow you were not kidding when you said you had read most of them! Many we would typically recommend are already in your list, but we DO have some more for you that hopefully you haven't read!
Oh, and real quick: You may have already done this, but if you haven't - check and see if your library has a purchase request or interlibrary loan service. Many libraries do, and often people don't know about it. They might be able to get you Half a Soul and Psalm for the Wild-Built if they know you're looking for them!
Now on to the recs:
Rachel says:
I have not read it yet, but I have heard great things about A Lady's Guide to Marvels and Misadventure by Angela Bell. And as a kid, I loved Bunnicula by James & Deborah Howe.
Abby says:
Try A Spell for Heartsickness by Alistair Reeves. The MC is a manic witch with a snarky corvid familiar, and they have to navigate setting up shop in a remote village that's harboring secrets and surrounded by some creepy woods.
Since you like FT Lukens I think you'd like this too.
Robin says:
In Other Lands by Sarah Rees Brennan - it's portal fantasy and the main character is incredibly genre aware. And sarcastic about it. The author is on tumblr and it shows (in a good way!)
Since you like T. Kingfisher, if you haven't continued on with Paladin's Grace yet it's very much in the vein of Swordheart so give that a look. You could also try A Wizard's Guide to Defensive Baking which is a bit different to the World of the White Rat books but still great!
The Enchanted Forest Chronicles by Patricia C. Wrede was a formative read for me. Princess Cimorene is determined to avoid marriage so she arranges to get herself carried off by a dragon. It's a delight. Start with Dealing with Dragons.
--
Hopefully there are a few there you haven't read yet and that you'll like! You can also check out our fantasy tag for all the fantasy recs we've made here over the years, light-hearted and otherwise!
