I’m a sucker for Good Dad Splinter ever since I watched TMNT ‘03. That rat was gifted sapience and his immediate instinct was kindness. I love that for him.

Rise Splinter lived a rollercoaster of a life, but as a Hollywood star he remembered the names of all his stunt guys and coworkers, and as a prisoner he cared for the rat that shared his cell. His sons are very close and physically affectionate, I think that says something about how he cares? That’s just how I like to headcanon him :)

It’s interesting to explore the idea that a seemingly monstrous transformation is what pushed him to be a kinder human

This frame killed me. The fact that Raph's shell falls next to Leo's head in the shape of a broken heart has to MEAN something. The animators did it on purpose. But I don't know why. All I do know is it has emotionally scarred me for the rest of my life.

Donnie was known and praised for his tech and smarts. Mikey was always creative and figured out multiple ways of expressing himself. Raph was always a sturdy, strong fellow. But Leo? He couldn't name any redeeming traits for himself, I mean, other than his handsome good looks and funny personality, he didn't really feel like he fit in among his brothers.

They all had their titles in the Mad Dogs. Smart, creative, strong, while he was just the funny guy. He was average, well, all besides being a mutant. He was your average mutant. At times Leo is left to believe that if it weren't for him being mutated along with his brothers…

He wouldn't be in their league.

Sick Days

Whenever I feel sick, I pull every blanket and pillow from my room and curl up in a corner on the floor. I drew this inside of said blanket pile :(

Despite being genetically engineered magic super soldiers, I’m sure the kids have had their share of off days, what with them running around New York sewers and all. Reptiles can be pretty sensitive to environmental conditions.

According to some googling, reptiles can’t actually get fevers though as they can’t raise their own body temperature. They also don’t truly shiver, though they can simulate it voluntarily. As mutants, the boys probably aren’t purely cold blooded, and have some control over their internal temperature due to their mammalian traits.
