okay so on the lawn mower today was thinking about atla and trans headcanons (i doubt there’s any option for like, hrt or surgery but i doubt that would stop people) considering how chill the air nomads are with all sexualities and i was like. i bet that they’re at the very LEAST chill with binary trans people.

since the air temples are “men” “women” segregated they might have some structural issues that make it hard to be agender or nonbinary and hard to be a trans kiddo, but i feel like they would make it clear that you could BE the other and then if you realized that you weren’t in the right temple they’d transfer you.

so, little aang is growing up with the nuns in the western air temple he’s like. hm. something feels wrong. i’m not sure about this “being a girl” thing. he starts cutting his hair shorter and talks to the nuns about a possible transfer, and then he meets monk gyatso who offers to mentor him at the southern temple, and he’s like !!!!!!!!! and aang moves to the southern air temple and is boy, which is great. then he finds out he’s the avatar which is. less great.

trans katara too because why not? when katara’s tiny, she trails after her mother and is very insistent that she’s a girl. her father’s not entirely pleased, but kya says that her baby must know what she’s talking about.

katara never stops being certain that she’s a girl, so hakota decides that she must be... he always wanted a daughter, after all.

the water tribes accepting that katara’s a girl doesn’t make all their sexism go away, though. now that she is Girl she is weak and to be protected.

The unifying factor(minus the last one lmao) for why they're my otps for the show is that the characters balance eachother's personalities out in a sweet,healthy and funny way and work well thematically in the story too!!I hope you like them or at least think they're good ships^

idk if you've talked about this already, but what so you think of yuetara as a ship, objectively? idk ive been kinda thinking abt it as of late and you always have good takes on things <3

im high-key flattered i think i have good takes lol :) and honestly im p neutral?? i tend to not multiship (sukka being the exception) so once i got into yueki i was kinda like this is my only yue ship now, especially bc i honestly do vibe w kataang. i think they would be a SUPER powerful couple lol and there is a lot of stuff i like there?? like if the ship existed in a vacuum i would be very excited. but i don't think katara would ever date one of her brother's exes, i think she and yue are both too empathetic/willing to put the comfort of others in front of them for that but it could also be a very interesting faucet of the ship!! anyway now that my opinions r out of the way i would like to say that there are a lot of very good things that could come with this ship like:

- yue and katara doing each other's hair

- anything about the moon and ocean spirits.. like im not saying that katara being a super powerful water bender means that she probably has some kind of affinity with the ocean spirit but like.. 👀

- chief yue AND chief katara AND they're married?? kanna showing yue how to make a betrothal necklace bc they're not common in the swt?? tentative teasing at the earth king bc there are four nations and sokka is related to the leaders of all of them but him? LETTER WRITING???
