hyping myself up to go to the campus career fair in half an hour cause for the first time in recorded history performing arts employers are gonna be there and one of them is at the top of my list for summer internships and i want to rizz them up. so to speak

we didn't realize how much we missed school. we're getting back into the swing of things and it's wonderful, it's so healing. yes i would love to take notes from the textbook, please inform me about the presentation you're giving, i'd be happy to meet with you this Friday to discuss what i missed last class

#we met with a professor to discuss a class we missed and he offered us coffee and it just hit us like holy shit. we love academia we missed #this so much we feel so at home at university. when our sociology professor from last semester saw us she gave us a hug and she was excited #to hear that we're double majoring in anthropology and sociology now. we sat in the food court with a bowl of food and realized how #comfortable we were despite being surrounded by people. there's so much to see and do and read and people to talk to. we decided last night #which highlighters we'll use for which subject. this Friday we think we'll explore the campus and go to places we don't have a reason to be #in. we stayed at a friend's last night until 1am and we were overjoyed by the presence of his drunk roommates and their friends even though #they were loud and perhaps because of it. they were so kind and they took up so much space and it made us realize just how lonely we had #been and how badly we needed that. to be around people. we got advice yesterday on how to tailor our resume and we're going to look #for a job once we've done our class readings for this week. we feel so damn at home here. so comfortable. we're in our element this feels #like it's where we're supposed to be and we're not taking that for granted GODS we love university #rambling

#i try to be the type of person who rebounds quickly #but it's hard. i get discouraged easily #1 job rejection and my instinct is to be like 'guess this field isn't for me. no one wants me. what's the point'#it's so tiring to put so much effort into tailoring resumes and cover letters for EACH. affirmations for myself:

there are lots of jobs, i am qualified for them. there are lots of jobs, i am capable of doing them. there are lots of jobs, they are out there. there are lots of jobs, i can get one. i am just as good as the next person for the jobs i will apply for, and if they do not pick me then there are lots of other places to be picked at. I will find something.

#hi i'm job hunting and it remains terrifying!#but needs must and i have been incredibly lucky to have been able to take time for myself #and there are things out there that i am capable of doing that are not going to push me beyond my limits #and also even some that i might enjoy doing!#i'm poking around on indeed first and then i'm going to get an idea of what i'm going to apply for so i can re-do my resume #and tailor any cover letters necessary #gotta say this process is a lot more intimidating without nepotism to help guide the way #only done it this way a couple of times and i am not looking forward to that!#where's my guy on the inside? where's the person who's going to vouch for me that they already trust?#come on i gotta have like an uncle or someone somewhere right? right???#(to be clear i have no actual desire to work with friends/family ever again)#(but it does fucking help in the Getting There process)

I applied to 3 jobs today that I think I have a decent chance of getting responses for 🤞

#I changed my resume so it's tailored to cleaning positions #which is what I have the most experience in #and I have a cover letter that I can slightly edit for each different company now #everything is suddenly 10x easier #I'm hopeful

#im not even getting interviews i dont understand #i spoke to my mums cousin whos worked in HR and hiring for ages and she said my resume and cover letter were both excellent #and ive been adjusting them per job to tailor them to each posting #am i gonna have to take some shitty retail job again? i cant. i cant do that #and it would add nothing to my resume so i would have just as much trouble trying to find a job in my field as im having now #august talking

honestly was quite bummed when i was ghosted by two companies bc i really thought i was doing so well and one of them even said that they’d be sending me an offer already!

for some reason, even after i had reached out to follow up, i didn’t get any response from either of them and i didn’t want to send another message after i’d been ignored

so i’ve had to restart my job hunt and it’s been a little slow (probs bc i’ve applied to larger, international corps so computer screenings might be used) but my friends have been so supportive of me — sending out my resume to their hiring teams, referring me for roles, and my former manager even told me i might be sent a contract to do part-time work with them soon 🥺

#it can be exhausting to look for work tbh #i try to tailor my resume for the roles i apply to so that takes time #and i do my interview prep differently depending on the focus of the role/industry #i’m trying not to take the rejections personally but it does get to you after a bit #esp when i thought i did SO well and passed the final stages already 😞#but i just gotta keep on keeping on #thank goodness i have a safety net #and supportive family and friends around me 🥺#rambles #job hunting

Truly HOW am I supposed to revise my last two assignments and write a reflective essay on WHY I made those revisions when MY PROFESSOR HASN’T GRADED THE PREVIOUS ASSIGNMENTS OR LEFT ANY FEEDBACK 😭😭😭😭
