context for those who have only seen the anime: In the comics, Talagbusao was imprisoned in the online game Eternos instead and was left to constantly battle hundreds of players to keep him busy and out of the human realm.

The progression of Alex and Maliksi's relationship in the comics (feat. Me probably overanalyzing)

(In general or shippy, up to you)

Vol 1: Villain of the week.

He's the supernatural culprit in Case 2 and she catches him. That's basically it, though it's an important detail that he's the prince of a tribe the Treses are allied with.

Vol 3: Owing a favor

She uses her last wish from winning the race to get him to help her fight Talagbusao. That's it. We don't see them converse or anything, it's all very straightforward.

This goes differently in the Netflix show where he's more involved. There are no favors or wishes and he goes to her to personally deliver a message from his dad. He also outright expresses his support for her even though he technically shouldn't ("I won't tell if you won't.")

Vol. 5: A romantically interested nuisance

Maliksi's very involved in this arc, in fact it starts with him becoming a vigilante, which interferes with Alex's work. She's very understandably pissed at him and sees him as nothing but an annoyance that gets in her way.

This interaction^ in particular makes it seem like she doesn't even take him seriously. I sense so much hostility from those panels, and from both sides even!

He flirts with her throughout this arc but she turns him down, of course. He saves her life near the end, and while she's still aloof to him, she invites him back to base for information.

Vol. 6: Official allies

It seems she changed her mind about his superhero attempts because at the start of this volume, she outright calls him for help, unlike in the previous one where she told him to stay out of it. I'm guessing this is cus she saw how useful he was to have around in battle.

He's basically become part of the team at this point, enough for them to have an SOS codeword, and for him to tag along for the next case (which we see at the end) without being asked or him offering.

As for their personal relationship, and this is the part where I start over analyzing, but Alex's expressions seem much friendlier than the previous volume where she was hostile because he was a nuisance who she already had a past history reprimanding.

1) they're sitting next to eachother fdjldjjddj, 2) she listens to him instead of ignoring him (especially in that first panel where her brother gives a speech and she's looking at Maliksi tho idk why, unless like the Kambal he's looking at Seepul who's sitting across from him??), and 3) she doesn't look pissed at him, instead having an expression that I can only describe as "open"

In the end, he flirts with her again and she still turns him down, but again, doesn't look annoyed anymore (not like in vol 5) (also notice how in vol 5 he didn't get to ride with her, but now he does just like how she told him to stay out of the way but now calls him for help)

In general, I really like how Volume 6 shakes up the status quo! This whole time it's been the trio of Trese + The Kambal tackling cases on their own and occasionally calling in a favor from an ally but in this volume, they assemble a team and then all share a meal together in the end. It's really fun and epic to see!

Fanfic idea (Crispin x reader x Basilio)

Team Trese has been invited to an Island resort near the coast of Manila. With what seems to be a chance for a long-needed vacation turns into an investigation surrounding the murders of both the owner and one of the groundskeepers. With the help of the wind girls, they were introduced to a person that might help with the mystery surrounding their untimely deaths. But how can anyone focus on the task at hand, when both of the twins are too busy vying for the attention of a fisherman’s daughter? And Alexandra still seems to be shaken from the events of Talagbusao’s failed take-over.

Description: Please enjoy this little fic I’ve prepared for you all :) 

The early morning light shone through the curtains of you and your husband’s shared bedroom. Today happened to be a special day and you’ve decided to wake up before he had the chance, rolling over to your side to check if he was still asleep, your prediction was correct and that he was still sleeping like a log, the covers drawn over to his head to block the early morning light. Smiling to yourself, you quietly got yourself out of the bed before heading downstairs to prepare breakfast.

 You’ve been married to your husband for at least 5 or more years now and in those years, both of you were happy and content with how your life is with him. Both you and he had stable jobs that paid well and both of you never argued, yes even during the times you were both dating or the times you and he were friends, it was always perfect. Humming to yourself, you then went over to the radio to listen to the morning news, preparing your special breakfast for your beloved. As your thoughts began to travel back to the time you had gotten married down to the little moments you shared with him.

 Ah, speak of the devil.

Hearing the familiar footfalls of your dear husband, you smiled to yourself as you turned to face him, a bright smile on your face, setting the fried eggs into both of your plates set upon the dinner table before putting the frying pan into the sink. “Magandang umaga, mahal. I made us some breakfast!” You would say to him, wrapping your arms around his shoulders which he gladly reciprocated despite his sleepy state, his lips placing a loving kiss upon your nose, arms loosely wrapped around your waist, a sleepy smile gracing his features as you looked into his dark eyes full of love, your hands gently playing with his silken locks. “Magandang umaga din sa iyo, mahal. Bakit ang aga mong nagising ngayong araw?” Your husband questioned, head slightly tilted to the side as you responded with a giggle.

 “Well, today happens to be our wedding anniversary and I wanted to do something special for us!” You would reply happily, gently tapping the nose of your surprised husband who could only roll his eyes at you rather lovingly before sitting down to eat his breakfast while you finished up the last of your cooking. It was his favorite and it was served on a silver platter covered by a lid, hiding it behind you. “Mahal, can we take a picture together? Please? It’s not always we get to have our picture together!” You spoke, gesturing to the camera you had set in the living room, just adjacent to the kitchen. Your husband seemed to think this through for a moment before agreeing to your wishes as he stood right before the camera while you set the silver plater on his side of the table. Going over to the camera, you quickly set the timer to 5 seconds before quickly rushing to the side of your loving husband, the two sporting picture-perfect and bright smiles that could rival the sun as the camera went off.

 “Gusto kong makita yung picture natin, mahal.” Your husband would speak from behind you as you waited for the image to finish printing itself as you spoke playfully, “Patience is a virtue, love. Now sit down because I have another surprise for you!” Of course, your husband could do nothing but to oblige to your wishes, quickly sitting down as he took note of the silver plater before him, a grin spreading across his lips, “Is this what I think it is?” He would inquire, his tone was eager as he glanced at you from the side, your eyes shining with delight as you nodded. “Yes, yes, now open it!”

 Just as you had said so your loving husband then lift the lid to reveal the special dish—a pie made out of human hearts. Normally, a normal person would scream out of horror and disgust at what you had just done but not your husband. He was extremely overjoyed at this as you sashayed over to his open arms just to kiss him, the photo from your pocket falling as you spoke, “Happy anniversary, babe! I love you.”

 The photo, that fell upon the floor was noticed by your husband as he reached for it, turning it over to get a glimpse of it with a smile. There in the photo, the two of you stood in all of your glory, finally revealing his face to the world. Your husband was none other than Datu Talagbusao, the War God of Bukidnon myths and the father of the infamous kambal. “I love you too, (Y/N).”

sir budj and sir kajo have been working on this story for more than 2 decades. it is evident how much care and detail have been put in, down to the graphic novel covers. you can see trese’s outline emerge quite clearly like this. one can only imagine the finished outcome when we get to book 13,

for 13 years now, i have been reading Trese. and it’s fitting that on the 13th year since its existence, it gets brought to the world stage thanks to its new TV show. i’ve been here since the beginning, and i will be here until the end. for always, forever.

THREE SANTELMOS

And speaking of Santelmos, teenage Alex summoning a Santelmo to play with him. Would explain why it addresses her like a childhood playmate on the pilot episode (also Alex doing a "mano po" to her dad. In Filipino culture, it's one way to greet and show respect to your elders and I wish they showed that too!)

Baby Basilio looking for his mom 😭 this scene would've made his "We're more momma's boys" remark heart wrenching

And speaking of his mama, Ramona dying to protect her boys (and baby Basilio going apeshit on his father). Seriously, just showing her stabbed corpse in the anime did her dirty

Revealing that Alex trapped Talagbusao in Eternos using the Dragon's Blood in her bloodstream, which Talagbusao drank in the comics. Eternos was the game Jobert was playing in an earlier episode. Why did they leave a crucial piece of info out? Hopefully season 2 will remedy that!
