I’m abt to go on a big ass rant abt DBH so buckle up.
(Rant under cut)
So I just finished doing my own play through this time after having the game for like 4 years and it is such an amazing experience doing it yourself than watching someone else do it and the amount of inspiration this shit gives me is amazing.
Like the storylines of the game the millions of choices you have the amount of endings and each path way you can take and a board that even shows you what you’ve done and what u haven’t makes me so incredibly happy.
But I also wanna talk about the ENTIRE creation behind this game
Right after I finished my first play through like 30 minutes ago I went to check out the extras section which if u didn’t know has all the behind the scenes makings of DBH.
And the amount of attention to detail makes me actually tear up a bit.
Watching how many people came together to make a camera movie type like view point for the player how much thought they put into each and every choice the player makes.
The way when actors had to make multiple choices for one scene. for example if you have or haven’t seen the extras when Bryan Dechart( connors actor) says the different choices you have when hank asks you his dogs name.
It’s also the attention to detail of how thw background music and themes were made.
The fact they hired 3 DIFFERENT COMPOSERS to make a different theme for each main character (Connor, Markus, and Kara).
How Connors sound track is supposed to represent him as a non feeling, emotionless neutral machine.
How Markus soundtrack is more determined and actually has the feeling of like a church type. gods choir like music since he is typically seen as a god like hero
How Kara’s composer went on a hike LISTENED TO THE FLAMES OF A FIRE AND MADE A BEAT OF THAT. AND HOW (I think the melody) LITERALLY REPRESENTS THE 2 SYLLABLES IN KARAS NAME?????
How the studio even showed the actors how they defined them in their final 3D versions and how they would be portrayed on screen so they could get a visual of what their going for.
This game makes me so passionate while playing it even outside of playing it. Detroit Become Human is a cinematic video game masterpiece that I will cherish to my grave.

i cannot stress this enough: if your reasoning for clowning on the mcu is "they overwork their cg artists and animators" i 1000% guarantee that a show or movie you have been stanning for years also abused their artists and you just haven't heard about it because the production companies aren't in the spotlight like mcu productions are. that cartoon for kids? that incredibly animated movie? that non-marvel superhero movie? i've seen people declare their hatred for the way the mcu treats their workers and then turn around and gush about a show that i know for a fact was hell for the artists attached
and no this is NOT me saying "this means you should stop hating on the mcu uwu" it's me saying you gotta be aware that this shit is an INDUSTRY WIDE PROBLEM. you CANNOT "fix" it by refusing to watch mcu movies and feeling good about it. you have to be aware that it's EVERYWHERE. why do you think so many animation and vfx productions are sourced in canada? in india and the phillipines? we are not unionized.
i know it's hard to face the idea that your favourite show might have been made unethically especially when you've spent so much time hating the mcu for doing the same thing. you don't have to start hating your favourite show. just like...be aware. don't be smarmy about it. don't claim without research that a beautifully animated movie Must mean the animators were not working 16 hour days and weekends. i do think we can fix this 👍 but we can't fix it if 90% of us don't even realize what the problem really is

i love the extras of dungeon meshi in how it fleshes out the world because they make it so much more evident how race affects every part of the story while avoiding the zootopia racism problem. like obv a main theme of the story is like, humanity and desire, 'to eat is to live', etc, but since the majority of it takes place in the dungeon isolated from society and thru the lens of laios, the racial aspects play out more like shadows on a wall for most of the story.
then in the extras we get comics like this
which at a glance fleshes out the racial aspects via a character explaining the racial rules of universe - humans have x amount of bones, while orcs and kobolds have more. however, if u take it less straightforwardly, it points out how the concept of 'human' is a constructed concept in the world. the fact that there are different categories of human in different parts of the world based off of what types of humanoids occur there is already a demonstration of this. in response, the bones explanation seems to kabru and the characters as an objective way of measuring humans vs nonhumans.
but obv, when the culture was deciding what humanoids were humans and nonhumans, they weren't blindly analyzing skeletons and then deciding. just visually, one can glean that orcs and kobolds look less like the ingroup of tallmen, elves, dwarves, gnomes, etc. the bones explanation appears as a justification for that immediate prejudice under a scientific guise - I'm sure that one could come up with the same number of physical differences between a gnome and an elf that they would find between a tallman and an orc. it sounds a lot better to say 'well, an orc has 230 bones while a human has 206' then 'well, an orc looks ewwww yucky yucky to me while a human looks normal'.
and what i like abt the comic is that the characters take the explanation at face value for the most part. when a contradiction is brought up in the oni, kabru can neatly slot them into the predetermined number of bones framework. bc that's kinda how it works irl - there r cultural prejudices that we can posthumously justify, and if we find something outside of it, we can twist it to fit into our predetermined binary. however, since the reader does not live in a world where there are orcs and kobolds to be prejudiced against, we can see that flaw in the cultural logic. when the party encounters the orcs, the number of bones has no bearing on their humanity. They r shown to be cliquish and distrusting of outsiders, but not any more than the elves are later in the story.
tldr dungeon meshi worldbuilding is so good

I love when people integrate my disabilities into kink. Like yes please make me ride you until I physically start giving out then take over thrusting into me while still underneath me. Swat me with my own cane. Lay my braces out for me with the lingerie you pick. Look up ways to tie me up that aren't putting pressure on my bad joints. Plan out multiple positions so we can keep me from getting sore. Take over jerking yourself off for me and make me watch when my wrists are giving out. Somno on days I'm too in pain to do anything but sleep. Intox kink when I'm self medicating for the pain. Sensory deprivation when I'm too overstimulated to enjoy myself. Disabled people can still be kinky and it makes me so much hornier when you take my disabilities into account!!!
