23 years ago 9/11 happened, I wasn't even half a year old at that time, yet it affected me in several ways, I'm brown, middle eastern, Muslim, Arabic speaker & so on, I think you get the picture.
After 9/11 happened, Muslims & Arabs/middle easterns were viewed as terrorists, hate crimes increased too, Muslims were viewed as barbaric people, savages, couldn't integrate & so on.
How did that affect us?
You can't wear hijab in France for example, you can't speak in Arabic on the bus in England without someone calling you out for being a terrorist cause now you're on English lands, you better speak their language, you could get killed in the US cause there's no gun control whatsoever.
Hate spreads like wildfire & so it did against Arabs, middle easterns, Muslims & the Arabic language.
Why am I saying all that?
Because the IDF & Israel today tried to use the buried fear of the Arabic language & the ignorance of the west about it to their own appeal:
This is a freaking calendar but to some who are already scared of the language, that's enough terrorism.
People all over social media here in the East are making fun of that stupid little stunt but for me it depends inherently on the racism, islamophobia & fear of Arabic that has been fed to the west for decades. It's literally another racist move against Arabic speakers but it's Israel so I'm not surprised.

John Robins is genuinely the key reason why I felt confident—nay, even excited, noble and like I was doing something important and communal—the first time I filed my taxes a few years ago. I’d been eligible for a couple of years (it’s anyone over 18, isn’t it?), but it felt too daunting, too grown up, not something I’d wanted to do, something I’d think about ‘later’ when I was ‘a real adult’ and actually earning something that wasn’t occasional little part time things. And then swooped in Johnny JR on his own shiny, tax-themed silver steed. Couldn’t have been more on brand Robins, that one of the major impacts this man—who I should point out for anyone reading this who doesn’t know who he is, is a comedian—has had on my life is that he got me to file my taxes confidently for the first time ever. Insane.

"money is a sore topic here 😢" its literally sore almost everywhere on earth, especially in western countries. the fact that in finland tax records are public makes it LESS taboo to talk about it here than average. compare to usa where even millionaires can just straight up lie to the media about how much or little they make. stop acting like finland, a comparatively VERY well-off country in the world, is toooo hard and judgemental on rich people or whatever anon said 😭😭😭😭
I'm excited to see Jere's tax records this year to show people what he actually is making 💀 People gonna be HUMBLED 🥴🥴🥴🥴

update stuff
because friday is my art posting day i've literally been in a conundrum about stuff... like not every commission that comes my way is some big bitch!!! and i kinda built a brand for awhile on posting my big beautiful catgirl on fridays. im slowly working through like. doing this stuff As A Job™ (which is insanely difficult believe me) while still being aware that im on a time limit because i'll be back at school in the fall...
but im almost through my queue! i'll be starting my last wips tomorrow and then probably reopening slots early on in the week! once im through this current queue honestly i'm probably gonna. not do stuff for a week or so as i take care of other stuff (i have a completely different job in ttrpg work, believe it or not).
the next batch of commission slots will be a bit pricier than the last and there'll be fewer, but its moreso because at my current rate its just not tenable! after i open slots again towards the end of this month, i'll probably open them one last time towards the latter half of august and that'll be it for the summer. i might take one or two here and there throughout the proceeding school year, but in all actuality im probably staring down the barrel of the most stressful one i've ever had.
ty to everyone who likes to come and look at my silly little drawings!!! getting to a stage in my life where it actually seems possible to subsist off of my commissions is really heartening, and i owe it to people who reblog and retweet and buy my services ;w;
happy fat girl friday night gay people!!!! im gonna keep drawing big bitches!!!!!!!!

This is your periodic reminder that municipal, state, and federal taxes are not a substitute for any tithes owed to fae courts, eldritch gods, or mysterious benefactors. If you are struggling to meet the demands of such figures, there are resources in town for financial aid, bond-breaking, first-born child exchanges, and other support systems. We generally advise against the "old woman who swallowed a fly" approach, as seeking ever more powerful figures to buy out or dissolve your debt for a cost tend to escalate rapidly and one only (typically) has a single soul to sell in the end.
