Peace never lasts-
The push of a domino
The tip of the iceberg
The ripple of a pond
Energetically the slightest touch can have a reverberating effect
While you watch the domino's go along this intricate pattern
In wonderment and thrill seeking to see the bigger picture
Though we don't truly see
The iceberg sank the titanic
And a ripple can start a tsunami
These are all clever metaphors for what it is I see
Starting in your grocery stores
Expensive even tax free
The marching price of social-isms
Is looming just underneath
The smell of true intentions of rotting the flesh of the free
Burning more than bridges the cows were only part of the puzzle piece
The big picture of America all marching to a date
For history repeats it self and September 4th 476AD is on our plate
What a fall it will be and most won't see it coming
To preoccupied with celebrity drama and the news mouths always running
It starts with your food it ends with your freedoms
Don't guide the sheep they intend to mislead'em
You see peace isn't of value
If no body fights for it to be
Big brother is here now
Will you finally choose to wake up and see?

Actually taxes are great and you know what? Of course rich people should be taxed way more actually. Taxation isn't theft, it's the price of living in a society.

Remember how they told you those new thousands of IRS agents would go after only the ultra rich?
Taxation is theft. End of story. A government that can do what these assholes did sitka be dissolved. What's more this man isn't the finest to have this type of thing happen to him.

Really this crap needs to stop. I don't care if it's federal or state side, government should not be able to kneecap you whenever they wish, or take your money without a justified reason to do it, AND also make sure you are aptly aware of what's going on. The gov could find me if they wanted in less than 5hrs, and I'm expected to have consequences from a government agency that can do their due diligence to make sure they get a hold of me regarding important matters?
Nah this is why I hate the "eat the rich" types. Because you all are the reason low, middle, and borderline "high" (not stupidly rich just making over 200k a year) keep getting taxed into oblivion. Because you're lack of understanding how money ACTUAL works on top of your demands for immediate results, will continue to result in everyone below middle High class getting f'd.

Social Security may well prove the belief that taxation is theft. FICA contributions to Social Security and Medicare are not opt-out. The American worker and their employers are legally compelled to pay. You have no choice here unless you choose to work under the table or in some alternative economic market out of the view of the federal government, and woe upon woe to you if the IRS finds out.
To add insult to injury, Social Security is not a retirement savings program. It is a transfer program. Income in the form of FICA contributions is taken from the paychecks of working people and is to be distributed to current beneficiaries of Social Security. That's it in broad, general terms.
The promise to those of us whose income is being taxed is that when it comes our time to draw benefits there will be funds available. Of course, we will need to continue taking money out of the checks of those working even if we have surplus funds available. As the current reports by Social Security Trustees indicate, we don't, and given current projections, we won't. Drastic measures will have to be taken to secure the program for the future if we hope to keep the Boomer Generation and Early Gen-Xers (my demographic) from bankrupting the program out of existence.
I'm 57. I've been making contributions for over 40 years if you take into consideration my fast-food jobs as a teenager. There had better be Social Security when I retire. The chances are, the minimum retirement age will be raised and benefits will be cut to stave shortfalls and prevent insolvency from becoming bankruptcy.
I have acquaintances that mistake my attitude for irony impairment. "Taxation is theft, but keep your hands off my social security," they joke. The answer to both is an unironic, "Yes."
Taxation is theft as I didn't agree to the program or tax on my income in the first place. In fact, these came about some thirty years before I was born. I entered the workforce and had no choice but to agree to these mandates. As stated above, FICA contributions are not opt-out.
Keep your hands off of my Security since you haven't given me the choice to opt-out. I would like to recoup some of the income I lost over my decades in the workforce. In fact, fix the damn program so that my contributions aren't a loss to me and future generations of workers. Now, if you want to refund all of my FICA deductions with interest and adjusted for inflation, okay...do what you want.
Since we know that isn't going to happen, it's time for Congress to get their act together. The GOP would rather we cut Social Security out of the federal budget altogether, while the Democrats seem unwilling to make necessary changes. Both parties are putting American workers on a speeding train to ruin.
So yes, "taxation is theft," and I want my money back, so "keep your hands off of my Social Security."

Small vent, everything's fine.
Over family lunch my sister's boyfriend, (who always made it clear he thinks libertarianism is cool and deadass said "But taxation is theft, no? Why should I pay for other people?" Like this is normal and smart) raised the subject of national politics.
I will mention he's young. He's young and was well taken care of his entire life and will have a guaranteed (government, as it happens) job for life. He never left home, he never had to be stressed about poverty, so I always tended to be relatively forgiving towards him. Very clear about where I stand, of course, but I wouldn't start heated arguments with him or anything.
Back to national politics, my entire family votes to the left. This isn't really a talking point - yes, there's debate about which party on the left, specific subjects and so on, but when it comes to things like socialism, progressivism, equality, peace - everybody's on the same page.
Today we talked about which parties we want to support and so on, and when I mentioned my party of choice - has been since I could vote, and maybe one of the most leftist parties there are - he blurted out something like "all they wanna do is raise taxes to give it to religious households".
Yeah dude? That's all they wanna do? Or is that random horse shit you read at the top of some Facebook post before you skipped the rest?
So I snapped back if that's what he thinks I suggest he either read their party manifest (which they consistently follow through with when in power, I'll add), or won't say anything - because it's clear he doesn't know what he's talking about.
Lunch is done and over with and I went to a friend's for the day before going back to my place, but my sister texted me I was rude and he got really offended that I told him not to say anything.
I love my sister, and told her flatly that if I just told someone how I vote and what I care about and he treats it as a joke, like it's something to be flattened to a couple of unappealing (and offensively incorrect) lines, I don't owe him my manners and I'm certainly not going to educate him. Either he decides to educate himself, or I don't want to hear what he has to say.
And like, I care about her happiness and it's clear she loves him, but really? A clueless young libertarian? Ugh.

Taxation is Theft: The Netherlands.
I am willing to bet none of you saw this one coming. Yes, yes - the slogan is most commonly used by the libertarian right, and no, I am most certainly not advocating for the lowering of corporate taxes or anything of that sort. I'm an ancom, not an ancap. ... That said. Here in the Netherlands? Taxation has become a method through which the neoliberal goverment steals from the poor, and gives to the rich. The rich, as it stands, already pay next to no property taxes. As far as income taxes go, there's more of those, but due to loopholes in the law, these can be easily dodged by those with enough wealth to make use of such methods. Meanwhile, on the flipside? I suspect you might have heard about the "The Dutch childcare benefits scandal", or "toeslagaffaire", as it is known here. To make a long story short: A lot of people, poor people that received childcare benefits, have been falsely accused of fraud by our tax administration. This actually caused the previous government to resign - only for the exact same parties, and the exact same prime minister, to once more come into office following elections. While compensation is being pushed out, it isn't nearly enough to actually fix the issue. What's more, the false accusations of fraud were racially charged - with minority immigrant groups being explicitly targetted by the algorithms the tax administration used. Because of this, people lost their homes. Accrued massive debts. Had their children taken into protective custody. Or, to put it more bluntly: Had their children stolen away from them by the state. Taxation, in and of itself, isn't theft. But the Dutch tax administration has stolen people's money. It has stolen people's financial security, their homes - and even their kids. They laughed all the while - internal communications from the tax administration spoke of "Afpakjesdag" - Take-it-away day, to translate loosely, a references to "pakjesdag" (gift day), which is what the day of our national St. Nicholas celebration is often called. The Dutch tax administration is rotten to the very core. I would advocate for a complete reconstruction of the tax administration from the ground up. Fire all those in a managorial position or above, scrap the algorithms entirely, and annul all pending tax debts. The rich barely even pay taxes anyhow, and they'd be unable to truly take advantage of such a one-time thing. For the poor, however? It would be a breath of air amidst suffocating conditions. I work in debt aid, and have to deal with these institutions on a daily base. The tax administration does not even have a (public) email address. Why, you ask? Because they want you to either contact them by phone (with a massive waiting line, and no proof of anything after you've finished the conversation), or by post (in which case they can take months upon months to respond, if they respond at all) - having an email address would mean that they can be more easily held accountable.
Abolish the taxation administration. Its the bare minimum that's required to truly fix this issue. And I'd recommend my comrades abroad to look into how their own tax administrations run things. I somehow doubt this is an issue that only exists here in the Netherlands, after all - although us having had a neoliberal government in power for over twelve years already certainly did help enable things to get this out of hand.

Conservatives be like: "I only want MY education funded by the government so I can get a government job paid for by taxes. If you won't sell your body to the government you shouldn't get tax funded education!"

Do you consider taxation (or any form of wealth redistribution) to be theft (and, thus, morally impermissable)? This isn't a gotcha or anything, just curious about your beliefs.
no, I don’t
"you are using our services so you gotta pay the cover charge” is fine in any state that allows you to leave
and policies of “we need to do things to benefit the worse-off because it is a moral duty and because it will make everyone better off” can sometimes work and can sometimes not work
but “we need to take from the better-off because we are in support of taking” policies never work, and the people who advocate for them never understand a single fucking thing that relates to what they are talking about (take a shot every time they talk about Jeff Bezos “hoarding his wealth”, if you want to die of alcohol poisoning). communists claim they are the same thing, because communists are liars.

it is also hilarious to me that this version of robin hood specifically brought in prince john (rather than like guy of gisbourne or sth) as a villain + made a BIG DEAL about the evils of inflated taxes, so it was like a very southern folksy anti big government take on robin hood when like the concept of modern taxes has nothing to do with like... taxes under feudalism in the 1100s (though if anything, the corrupt element there would be funding a war overseas, not, like, maintaining grain stores or the public roads)
and there would actually be some appalling shit at work if government stole from church collections bc you can bet your ass the vatican would've had SO MUCH to say about that, to the point that in the old non animal robin hood stories, robin doesn't steal from honest people even if they have money, he like targeted scamming ass clergymen & dirty cops (sheriffs but also shitty knights on the road) & didn't believe in king's road/king's woods/king's deer/etc bullshit
anyway yeah it's like SO AMERICAN, which isn't bad for what the movie is, it's just surreal that a character who started out like "acab. fuck the king this is my road now" lowkey shifted gears to "acab. taxation is theft. also fuck your ride" as SOON as southerners got involved
