This goes along with AMM!! I’m just curious what Jungkook and Jin from TBP and TCS think about their other siblings / clan members and what they would describe them to be like? Would they ever let their mate come back to the family to meet everyone? What would they do if anyone else took an interest in them? Thank you so much!!

Seokjin lets out a low series of clicks, the sound oddly reminiscent of a laugh. He pushes his long hair behind his shoulder, his black eyes meeting red as Jungkook's head peeks above water.

"Hoseok is a mystery," Seokjin explains simply, cocking his head to mimic Jungkook. "We do not know much about him."

Seokjin raises his tail, ignoring the loud hiss Jungkook sends his way as the impact splashes water on him. "Taehyung is peculiar. Magical. Reckless," Seokjin notes. "He shall learn from his mistake, one way or another."

"As for my mate," Seokjin whips his tail out of the water before Jungkook's teeth can sink into it, "She will never be allowed to meet these cretins."

Jungkook lets out a round of abrasive clicks and hisses as he drags himself up on the rock next to Seokjin, his red eyes blazing. Seokjin gives a curt nod, shoving Jungkook's claws away from plucking at his scales as he says, "Jungkook is right. I would kill every single one of them if they tried to steal my mate away from me. They can find their own."

Okay, you've taken the plunge. Here goes nothing.

The Cheat is actually a familiar! Like Strong Sad, he also has a shadow form that he can freely switch between, but unlike SS he has no qualms about doing so in front of other people. On a similar note, he also does not go through any major personality changes when he switches, and is always in a state of at least semi-permiability (which is why his bottom portion sinks into the ground).

As a familiar, The Cheat is naturally much more animal-like than the other residents of Free Country. However, through the long-term exposure of FC's particular brand of strangeness, he's actually much more cognitively aware of things to such a degree that he can hold his own in any kind of conversation.

Main Ability: Semi-Permiability (permanent)

Secondary Abilities: Common Speech, Astral Projection, Item Transfer (linked to Main Ability)

Shadow Version:

The main difference between the mainline universe version of The Cheat and EXPMAU TC is in regards to his role in The Brothers Strong's lives. Since (spoilers) they all got sent to FC when they were fairly young, TC had no choice but to act as a sort of surrogate parent/guard dog, meaning he's naturally more protective over them (especially SM). Funnily enough, this nature has only really grown over the years, meaning that he can be unreasonably wary of new things. He will still leap in front of The Brothers to protect them, despite the fact that all of them can hold their own with ease.

His shadow form has glowing spots, which are relatively strong as light sources. He can control their strength at will, and turns them off when he sleeps. He usually takes this form for energy conservation, when he feels safe, for speedy travel, and whenever he wants to prank someone by popping back up into his normal form.

Main Ability: Shadow Manipulation

Oh, and as a side note, only Strong Mad knows who actually summoned The Cheat. And it wasn't him.

The Ethics of Empathic Powers in LiS:TC

One of the big selling points for Life is Strange: True Colors was that Max CaulfieldAlex Chen's magical powers would be empathy - more specifically a combination of Object Reading (through the strength of emotions felt concerning those objects), Emotional Intelligence (being able to manage your own emotions and understand the emotions of people around you), and Emotional Manipulation. Of these, the most questionable would be Emotional Manipulation, and it's an ability that Alex uses several times... with two significant events where that ability ends up with significant repercussions.

The two moments include a moment when Charlotte is feeling intense anger at her son, whose actions indirectly led to the death of her fiancé Gabe (Alex's brother), where Alex can... take in Charlotte's anger, and in the fear being felt by Officer Pike (where Alex again can take in the fear and help Pike overcome his paranoia and fear of the mining corporation Typhon).

Interestingly enough, this was an area where I disagreed with my spouse, as they chose not to manipulate Charlotte but did take in Officer Pike's fear. My reasoning was that if it is unethical to take in Charlotte's anger, then would it not be unethical to do the same for Officer Pike? What's more, Alex was in the wrong. She had stolen property from a Typhon employee and recruited someone to break the encryption on it to get evidence of potential wrong-doing by Typhon. Legally, the evidence is not admissible in a court of law as it was stolen and not a whistleblowing event from an employee.

(The smart thing to do in this case would have been to copy the data and then return the flash drive as "found when I was cleaning up" as it would lessen suspicion, and then deliver the evidence to a news organization as they are not a court of law.)

Here's the thing. Is it ethical to use emotional manipulation/control on a person to save your life? I would say yes. But is this to save Alex's life? No. Alex is threatened with arrest (and rightfully so), though the value of the flash drive is minimal. It would be a misdemeanor at best. The evidence on the flash drive is embarrassing and reveals that the company was covering up malfeasance but the financial value of the stolen property is... most likely under $100. What's more, if news organizations learned that Typhon had had arrested the sister of a man who died because of mining activity Typhon was involved in, especially given that it would be easy to access satellite phone records that reveal that Gabe did in fact call Typhon? It would most likely result in an investigation that causes Typhon a lot of trouble. Typhon was just trying to scare Alex. And it works.

So it's unethical to use Alex's abilities to influence Officer Pike. Using her Emotional Intelligence aspect of empathy to learn more about his fears of Typhon are allowable (if borderline questionable) as anyone with sufficient emotional intelligence would be able to determine this sort of thing just by reading body language and the like. (A lot of empathy is subconscious emotional intelligence rather than anything psychic, and people can unfortunately allow that psychological perception of a person to influence their own emotions - which makes me suspect emotional intelligence has two separate elements which are not necessarily equal - someone may have control over their own emotions and yet not be able to easily understand the emotions of those around them... and vise versa.)

One of the nice things about TC is that we actually see repercussions for Alex unethically using her empathic abilities - she flies into a rage if she chose to take in Charlotte's anger, and Charlotte refuses to side with her against Typhon because it doesn't matter to her now, and she suffers a bout of intense paranoia and fear if she takes in Pike's fear and likewise, Pike starts acting in a... unprofessional manner during the final confrontation with Diane and Jeb.

This is also one of the nice things about True Colors over the original Life is Strange... that we see actual ethical issues in play here. With Max and the Rewind, there is little actual ethical issues in play here over her use of her abilities. Even the ending choice is not a matter of a "Good End" and a "Evil End" (no matter what certain folk working for Deck Nine might claim) as we never had any evidence that the Rewind caused the Storm and the person who does accuse Max of causing the Storm also thought the Storm was a Category 6 Storm (which doesn't exist) (and he was also a 16 year old boy whose knowledge base came from watching movies - and his choice of movies that he enjoyed were... questionable.) The second Life is Strange game did start wandering down the road of ethics, but this was more building on what was more important: family or following the law (even when the law was unjust).

Wanted to ask another question (more positive this time) but what parts of LIS franchise do you think has aged the best? Moments, plot lines or even characters count 😄

No problem! By far, the theme of nostalgia has aged the best in the original LiS. I don’t think Dontnod even intended for the game to age so well because they were a struggling studio at the time not sure if this game would garner a following, much less a 10-year long legacy and dedicated fan base. But since nostalgia is so dependent on time passing and the players’ memories, it’s brilliant that a game all about nostalgia would develop its own meta nostalgia over time.

The sense of nostalgia is aided in part due to setting (time and place) and characters. Firstly, all the games are set in the recent past, making the players nostalgic for 2013 even when the game first came out in 2015. Two years is just far back enough for players to think back on that time, maybe in their own lives, and reflect on how people or events may have changed since then.

On top of that, Max and Chloe are both extremely sentimental characters. They are constantly reminiscing about their childhood together and again, it encourages players to reconsider how much of their early lives they may have forgotten. Who have they lost touch with? What do they regret? How much has their life or their worldview changed since they were 18? At the same time, Life is Strange is a classic coming of age story with some sci-fi elements. Max is in an extremely pivotal and transitory stage of her life, on the brink of adulthood, and the plot proceeds to plunge her into difficult and eventually traumatizing situations. Another theme of the game is innocence, and as Max makes some of the best and worst memories of her life in that one crazy week and loses some of that youthful innocence, it reflects the dual happy-sad nature of nostalgia itself.

Finally, the art direction has aged quite well. Stiff facial expressions and lipsync aside, Dontnod has such a precise command of color and light in this game. The magical, perpetual golden hour and hazy skies contribute to this romanticized depiction of reality, as if the events of the game are through a nostalgic filter. Basically: the vibes are still immaculate.✨

I saw the trailer... and the only thing I'm surprised about is that they actually followed through on the dream trap scenario. Back before FTF aired one of my theories was that Luz was going to get put into a dream trap. She was going to get put in a dream trap as a way to contrast WBW, where a magical entity takes advantage of Luz's current emotional upset to get something out of her.

And see... here's what's interesting to me: this dream trap clearly happens after The Collector puts Eda, King, and The Collector through a game. Something happened to Luz that made her susceptible to this kind of trap. And in this dream she sees herself as a villain. This is very strange given her conversation with her mother in FTF. Through this conversation you'd think Luz would have moved on from the whole "I helped Philip meet TC so im clearly an awful person" thing... but she hasn't. Another thing is: The Collector is clearly tampering with this dream to keep her trapped in it. He takes the dolls of her friends away from her when the Amity doll gives Luz the light glyph. And THEN the trailer spoils Luz getting out of the dream by using the glyph Amity gave her... like really? You are just gonna spoil that? Okay...

But yeah uh... what exactly happened to Luz to put her in this dream trap? She sure as hell didn't get stabbed because that's something Philip is going to do to her at the end of the episode. He isnt going to do it now because hes preoccupied with something... So its like... what happened to Luz?

For some reason, The Collector feels it is necessary to put her in a dream trap AFTER his initial game with her. But not Eda and King. Eda and King are separated from Luz for some reason. Theyre standing in a field with eyes everywhere.

They are still going to follow through on sending King to the past. Its still going to happen because as you can see, The Collector is not hanging around King in any of the scenes in the trailer. And now it looks like King and Eda are going to do something stupid like try to fight the literal god child. I said before that The Collector was going to hurt King in a way he can't take back. He's going to send Luz back in time first. Hes not going to kill Luz, because Belos is foreshadowed to be the one who kills Luz.

As for that weird eye shit on the ground... I dont think it's Belos. Because if Belos was capable of possessing the titans body, he would have done that first before wasting so much time doing the Day of Unity thing. This feels more like a Collector thing, because hes actually capable of producing nightmarish stuff like his star servants. If this was a Belos possessing the isles thing... the Collector would put a stop to it. Because he hates Belos more than he hates Luz. And I really dont think Belos actually possessed The Collector because like... how could he do that when he couldnt even get him while he was asleep?

One last thing: Lilith getting turned into a doll basically confirmed my whole "Belos is going to kill Eda" theory lol.

shockwave and megs and the cons think the heights wont be so bad. shockblast makes their lines grow cold because "WOW YOURE BIG. SORRY." SNAP! lugnut realizing that TFA!megs is a grown ass man and keeps defaulting to dad mode on accident.

the frumbles realize TFA! soundwave is fully grown but only a year old. little sibling acquired.

I think about crossovers literally All The Time and yes yes all of this

TFA Arcee would have no problem keeping up with these kiddos, she’s a badaft warrior grandma who could probably teach them some things about swordfighting, but also they’d have to be careful not to crush her on accident

Minimus would at first respect Magnus, look at him as a possible role model, but the more he learns about TFA’s Autobot society the more utterly disgusted he’d be. Legal tyranny is still tyranny! The same critiques he has of SNAPs Stratocracy are applicable to TFAs society! How dare the Magnus! I also think Orion and Optimus would get along fairly well? I mean the Autobot faction looks significantly different and Orion would… not like that, but Optimus is cool and seems to be figuring things out as he goes which is deeply relatable. But also talking about the Autobots means mentioning Missy is a flier which would be incredibly strange to TFA

And speaking of TFA fliers, the JETTWINS ARE SNAP STARSCREAMS PARENTS HELLO??? Can you imagine SNAP Starscream meeting these silly goofballs who are smaller and maybe younger than him and mentally comparing them to the clanky old grandpa vibes Jettwins who raised him and just bluescreening from sheer nope?? And the clones—TC and Skywarp would be so insulted but also find it hilarious that this random other Starscream is so pathetic he doesn’t even have siblings and had to clone himself with space magic only to end up with bad copies who don’t even listen to him. Like. SNAP TC and Skywarp take one look at their counterparts and are permanently assured of their own value and competency in comparison to those weirdos

SNAP Lugnut telling TFA Megatron that he’s being very rude, you should put that cannon down before you take somebody’s optic out, watch your attitude kiddo or there’s no dessert tonight. He doesn’t even normally parent like that he just finds TFA Megs much less agreeable than his own darling punk child. This alternate universe guy would be a bad influence! Not to mention just being huge in comparison to TFA Lug

And boy oh boy the TFA cons would not be happy to hear that Shockwave has no affiliation with the faction! That the faction is, apparently, made up of just six ish utter idiots for some reason, and they aren’t even conquering and ruling as is the Decepticon way! What is wrong with these giants?? Are they even Decepticons??? And the SNAP cons would think the same thing, like you are exactly the kind of oppressive function-based regime we are fighting against, get fragged! Galvatron would try to squish TFA Megs like a cockroach after an hour of conversation

SNAP Soundwave would be kind of insulted that his counterpart is a Decepticon but would ignore it in favor of immediately kidnapping him and making him a minion—sorry, minicon. And the TFA minicons would be like miniconception… the sheer chaos and squabbling that would occur. Insane

Crossovers give me life I love them I need them and the sheer utter mismatch of TFA vs SNAP makes it a particularly entertaining crossover to think about. Please someone prevent me from going full niche self indulgent and coming up with proper crossover content and/or somebody else do it for me

 -Four offices in the Library -- one for Oran and then one for each of us? 

-The cop’s name was Bob (the one who Cass impersonated) 

-AACAB - all arcane cops are bad 

-The rose from the chalice…something happened there. The blood wasn’t absorbed -- it somehow came from myself. Alright!

-Ellie leaving the bathroom and searching for Noami -- finds her in her childhood bedroom. It’s been semi redone by Joanna since Naomi left -- guest ready. Very plain 

-Teaching Ezra and Leah magic? Teaching everyone magic? Naomi would be a good teacher! 

-Naomi and Leah trying to mend bridges

-Naomi comforting Leah -- knowing she feels different since her shadow is back 

L: “I don’t know where to put all of it. I’m sorry you had to go through it alone. I could’ve been there.” 

N: “I figured it out. I thought it would scare you.”

-There is a bit of buzz among the populace, people seem concerned about the lost time. Parents with children especially know something is up 

-Bethany is champion (will potentially champion Naomi’s cause)

-She’s pretending to project a calm aura, but does seem worried knowing something happened, and that the Coralogia members are absent

N: “When everyone lost time that was because they had attempted to take Corsica where it wasn’t supposed to be. They were trying to do something I don’t fully understand…something scary. I think Corsica came back and they didn’t because what they wanted was too big of an ask.” 

-World views are being changed. Coach Cobb is going nuts, yelling, cursing. An outburst like this is almost unheard of in this context (previously) 

N: “We have not been dealing with scary, big, and stressful [feelings] for a long time. Expect heightened reactions. I tried to fix things so we could have big reactions again.”

N: “They were doing something to make themselves more important than they could be on their own. I was trying to make sure everyone came home.” 

N: “No one..is alone.” 

-What do we do…now?

About Triple Chain

I continue to think I have self-control. I continue to be wrong.

This is more or less gonna be a place where I, @destinywillowleaf, gather my thoughts on the characters, story, and setting, because there's a lot to get through. There's also gonna be help and additions from @paradoxbeta, because this whole mess would be dead in the water without her help.

Triple Chain is an "extended" version of Linked Universe, with heroes pulled from all over Hyrule's history. Some might not quite seem like they fit the bill of hero - no Master Sword, no connection to the Triforce, not even a passing mention in most history books - but for one reason or another they've all still been gathered to fight.

Meanwhile, Dark Link traverses worlds to gather strong allies to stand against the ever-growing group, creating a shadow army of his own...

(Technically this doesn't have to be connected to LU but it's what kickstarted the idea to begin with.)

uooh notes. the FON files storing ascii fonts are just a bitmap, but the FON files storing SJIS fonts have structure!!! they have a magic number: FN TC.

the header is 0x20 bytes long. (0x10~0x11 is 0x0020 in every font ive tested so its possible there are other header types?). 0x14~0x15 is the offset at the start of the bitmap section, i.e. the size of the header PLUS the size of the mapping section. 0x1E~0x1F is the bit depth of the bitmap section. 0x1C~0x1D is always 0x1010 from the fonts ive tested but im not sure what it means... 0x4~0x5 and 0x18~0x19 vary in every font, usually high values, and i dont know what they mean either. they might be flags where the bits have individual meanings. i would probably have to reverse engineer the engine

the mapping section immediately follows the header. its an array of 16-bit values, which maps an SJIS character to the n-th glyph in the bitmap. its a little strange since its kind of backwards. you know what character a glyph represents but not what glyph to use to render a character. its probably for the sake of saving space, and they then construct the reverse table in-game

the bitmap section then follows the mapping section immediately U_U theres no compression as far as ive seen
