H O W
(this is about you clocking chadok and dika, in case that wasn't clear)
Golden rule of BLs - Everyone is gay until proven hetero, that's why I'm ghost shipping Namo x Wat.
Clue #1 - Going into any show with gay goggles on helped me see that these two were an item in EPISODE 1. The grounds keeper told Ayan that Chadok and Dika were *very* close until *something* happened, then Dika left suddenly.
Clue #2 - The way Chadok interacted with Ayan in front of the Student Welfare Office AFTER Chadok noticed the necklace. He looked like he saw a ghost, then didn't punish Ayan.
Clue #3 - I pieced together that Thua's stepdad knew Chadok from school before the show told us because it was mentioned several times that the stepdad had went there and how afraid he was in the car with Thua when the radio talked about the upcoming eclipse, so either the stepdad or Chadok were the curse. It had to be Chadok who is a parallel of Akk, while Ayan has been a parallel of Dika, so if Akk and Ayan were drawn to each, so would Chadok and Dika.
Clue #4 - Chadok wanted Akk to stay away from Ayan. I think he has known who Ayan is this entire time (Dika's nephew).
Clue #5 - The journals. Dika mentioned Chadok in his journals as being one of the causes of his depressive state. Pages were also missing from the journals, and we know Dika nor the mom would rip them out. This is why I also thought Chadok took Ayan's journal (THUA?!!!) to see what Ayan knew about their relationship.
Clue #6 - The principal. Chadok is an authority figure, but he has a boss who is constantly present and threatening him. Once again, if Akk is a parallel, then the principal/school was going to be the reason he was going to scarifice love just the way Akk was.
Conclusion - I have been yelling that Chadok and Dika were in love from my little hill for ten weeks now, but just because I wanted this ending

Let’s talk about the insidious nature of this scene.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s dark and Chadok is framed in light from behind, he is purposely higher than Akk on the stairs, meaning no matter how far he walks down them, he will be in a physically higher position lest Akk move out of the way.
Tumblr media
First thing he does is give Akk a reason why he would be there besides the obvious one, which is that he was looking for Akk. Once that’s covered, he subtly hints at Akk being a disappointment by not telling Chadok anything about the school, regardless if Akk knows anything or not. That’s not the point, Chadok wants Akk to feel like a failure before the crux of the conversation even hits.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then the manipulation comes, Chadok hangs something in front of Akk that he knows he desperately needs, a scholarship to university. He knows Akk’s parents couldn’t pay for the school he’s at, hence his current scholarship. He also knows that they most likely won’t be able to pay for the university that Akk wants to attend, so here he is making sure that Akk understands that there is something in it for him if he follows Chadok orders. Not the rules, no, but to do what Chadok wants, what he asks of him no questions.
Tumblr media
He doubles down with some emotional manipulation by mentioning Mes, a student that Akk looked up to, that Akk idolized, that he liked. Chadok isn’t stupid, he knew about Akk’s crush on Mes just like he knows about his crush on Ayan. He sees it, can see Ayan changing Akk, making him doubt things. So Chadok reminds him that Mes was just like Akk and everything turned out alright for him, that there’s no need to be like Ayan, that you can do as Chadok says and be prosperous, just like Mes was.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is the threat, he is making it clear that the scholarship is not yet Akk’s but it can be, if only he does what Chadok wants of him, only if he dances to Chadok’s music and no one else’s.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This touch is not a friendly pat but a warning, a reminder that Chadok is in control, he is the puppet master while Akk is the the puppet. And as Akk glances down at Chadok’s hand, it’s clear that he knows it.
Chadok is a master manipulator and a bully, something we’re shown in the flashback of Thua’s step-dad’s time at the school. Chadok is a predator, a shark, he finds the easily lead, the lost, the scared and confused and he leads them like a fairytale witch in the woods. Promising a better life, a better way, security and structure only to then toss them into the fire when he’s done with them. Chadok is the curse, he created the curse and they, the children that he torments with it, are the ones that are going to have to stop it.

so um this was an interesting transition, huh?
a mirror image of akk when he first joins the prefects juxtaposed with akk .2 seconds away from committing arson in the name of suppalo
the difference between naive underclassman akk who just joined this stupid club bc he had a crush on mes and exhausted, haunted senior akk who is now the sole person responsible for upholding the school's reputation (so he believes)
shoutout to the editors of this part of the ep bc this transition and the cinematography of the scenes are immaculate
akk looks so hopeful looking at the fire (that is symbolic of his responsibility as prefect) in the first pic whereas he looks indifferent and resigned to his fate, to his role as peace keeper, in the second pic
also: not to throw a meta/theory in on top of this, but these scenes are exact mirrors of one another minus one thing: mes
sure, he was older than akk and has since probably graduated, but i can't help but feel this is indicative of something having gone wrong with mes and the prefects in the past. akk was all too happy to join originally, so what made him lose that spark? it could have been the responsibilities thrust on him this year as head prefect, but i think it goes back further than that, bc akk's classmates all know him as this stoic, inflexible prefect who values rules over friendships (we know this isn't true, but this is what his classmates seem to think). i think that something must have happened w mes before he graduated that caused chadok to be much more strict about the rules and suppalo's reputation and turned akk into this shell of his former self
what's been the one constant thing that everyone says about akk:
he'd rather play the bad guy to keep his friends safe
hmmm why is that? what could have possibly happened that akk, who used to punch ppl just for calling him a hillbilly to this?
(whatever happened could have also been the reason for what happened with dika, but idk)

Ok so my question is, if Ayan gave his uncle’s necklace to Akk in ep 10, why does he have it around his neck again when he confronts Teacher Chadok in the preview? What happened between him giving the necklace to Akk and that confrontation? Did Akk give it back because he thought it was too symbolic to Ayan for him to keep it? Did they make a couple necklace? Like what happened? I have so many questions 🙂🙂

I HATE CHADOK RANT (Part 2)
** Read Part 1 first!!**
MOST HEARTBREAKING MOMENT!!!
I had to stop watching the episode because I couldn't stop crying at the love between them. Aye is so protective in this scene, and the best boyfriend to Akk. He truly cares for him, and it's shown in the hug and just pure love there. At this moment, Aye was so scared that he was going to lose another person that is so important to him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Aye loved his uncle, Dika was his most important person, the person who inspired him the most. He was also Aye's best friend, he taught him so much. Whether it was about understanding the importance of language or understanding his sexuality, and probably so much more. Aye loves his mom, but it was different with Dika, because Dika just understood who Aye is. So, because of this, he took it the worst when his uncle died, especially since it seems like Suppalo was the reason. His only plan when he came there was to avenge his uncle. Of course though, he found Akk, and overtime, he was scared to lose Akk too. I feel like he started liking Akk right away, he just didn't do anything about it until later.
He didn't know how close Akk and Dika were, or that aside from the connection they already feel with each other, another connection they have is related to Dika.
Akk on the other hand, didn't have a relationship like that with Dika, but he did have him as the first person who understood him. Dika had no agenda, when he showed Akk that he doesn't have to be alone. Dika never judged him and was just somebody in his corner, which helped Akk when he was struggling so much. I mean just imagine moving to a big city from living in the country most of your life, you would struggle too. He did, but that is how he found Dika. Dika truly cared for him and made him feel like he belonged, when he didn't feel like he did.
In some way, it seemed like Dika was helping them find the connection they both needed, from the grave.
It's a sad thought, but also something that he would totally do if he could.
This relates to Chadok because I feel like Chadok represents the school. It might not be just him that had the influence on Dika, but with how close Dika was to Chadok, it seemed like he would be the biggest reason behind Dika's death.
We see that the principle has put some stress on Chadok and even congratulated him for the work he has done. So, I know he has pressure put on him.
However, as we see with Teacher Chani, not everyone is sharing the abuse being put upon them.
The system in the school is toxic and abusive in general. So, of course it produces people like Chadok from it. They use fear to rule the school, it gets people to listen, but only up to the point of someone saying, "I am going to rebel anyway."
AKA World Remembers Gang, Aye, and Akk (with Aye's help).
Though it produces people who believe in the system.
The Principal, Chadok, Warwee and Namo
It also produces people who are bystanders, who let it all happen. Sometimes unintentionally,
Thua was like this at first, but Aye helped him realize that he needs to stand up.
Kan and Wat are also like that at first, but it seems like they are changing their minds like Akk already has.
Or there are ones who are intentionally being bystanders.
The boys who were bullying the World Remembers Gang for being gay.
Also, Chadok and Warwee, both people who fall in actually believing in the system, but also just letting things happen.
The gym teacher is also a good example of a bystander who doesn't do anything about it, but isn't directly involved.
It seems like there are so many people involved in this, but honestly aside from the principal, Chadok is the highest in the hierarchy of the school. So, he has the biggest influence on everyone else, and since he uses that influence to carry on the abuse and toxicity, it makes him awful. The principal seems bad, but Chadok seems to have the biggest influence on the students and staff since, most don't even know the principal, but everyone knows Chadok. I would feel for Chadok, but he lets all these terrible things happen and threatens and uses the insecurities of others to make sure the ideology and rules of the school stay where they are.
Though the rebels (including, Akk, Thua and maybe Wat and Kan), and Teacher Chani fight back against the system. Their attention is to make sure nobody else turns out like Dika.

The villain in the Eclipse is the failing abusive system/existing framework and trying to make any one person that I feel is an incomplete understanding of the story because everyone in their own ways is failing it - Chadok's teachers for Chadok by controlling him back when he was a student, then he in return doing so, then the teachers, then people like Akk and Mek who can easily be controlled/exploited/brainwashed. Maybe Ayan for a moment because he knew Akk did it and didn't say it. All the students for participating in laughing at the kids different from them. People like Thua for not standing up till almost the end and instead withdrawing (at one point) from actively doing anything. Or, as Ayan pointed out when people compromise like Teacher Sani did, it allows the perpetrator to escape.
That's the beauty of the story, right? Showing how We all can end up complicit in the act.
(So if there's no big twist or surprise in who is burning the effigies I don't think it would be a let down)

A Very Shallow Analysis On The Visualisation Of The Very Abstract Concept Of Processing Grief
so.... i take english lit.... I've studied a streetcar named desire... which.. if you are familiar w that text at all u understand how almost everything means something. let's just say it traumatised me into reading into everything i consume as intensely. ... this is a warning ..... hehe .
OKEY!!!! so as i am physically incapable of being normal abt anything. and ive had 2 weeks to basically do nothing but Consider My Little Gay People i have come to a pretty insignificant but overall (i think) cool conclusion abt... the eclipse & the sequences in which we see dika, aye's uncle, about to kill himself or in the process of killing himself.
they always kind of confused me??? tbh?? bc like. chadok is also seen in that same place at the same times . and neither aye nor chadok are in eachother's scenes . so TO ME!! i think in reality nobody actually saw dika kill himself and the scene w the cliff edge is smth moreso akin to their emotional manifestation of the idea. and how they feel in relation to that. them being helpless to stop him as they weren't there for him to see that. placing his death in a place that perhaps meant something to them when he was alive. yaknow. hence aye placing flowers there ;_______; ough.....
i came to this conclusion. Essentially. by laying down for a while and trying to make sense of those scenes and realising some details that make it seem more of a purposeful choice instead of like. Bad writing .
FOR EXAMPLE!!!!! aye's hair & the necklace. these r rlly. why i have such deranged faith in this idea. in the actual flashbacks to around the time before dika's death aye has much less styled hair. it makes him look younger!!! makes sense. it's generally a more juvenile style . bangs in da eyes babey. <333 he looks v sweet. (smth to b said maybe abt how his outward appearance prior to and post dika's death and how that signifies a change. Oh boy..) but my point is when we see aye in the present his hair is styled!! slicked back generally and if not u can see a parting. makes him look Older. i mean yeah ..... he could have just worn that hairstyle when he was younger but we never see him look like that when he's actually around dika. hence my reasoning lmao. i also believe fiction doesn't normally want u think abt reality as much as that tho . it feels reductive to me.
my other main thing is tha necklace!!!!! babey. . simple as: aye gets the necklace after dika's death. it's left to him. in the cliff scenes he's wearing it as well as his uncle. there rlly isn't much more to it than that lmao. unless.. There was a second one?? but i don't rember it. >:-)
there is also smth to be said abt the weird liminality of those scenes too which make me think it's not smth that actually happened and acts as a way to visualise these characters processing their emotions. how dika flashes in and out of existence. perhaps the characters attempting to place image to smth they never got to see. chadok is wearing his uniform when he's seen there. .... the idea of him being stuck between two mental places i think is highlighted thru that.
YA!!!!! that's my thesis. truly.. i could write an essay on this. but i can't scrape enough Braincells together . i am sick and sitting in my pitch black room w my one window covered by the blind at 2 in the afternoon on a school day . .. I am beyond saving.
FAREWELL

The Eclipse...Ep 11.
What a plot twist that I totally SHOULD have seen coming. Chadok wasn't all bad, just went about things badly.
Still....I'm so mad at myself for being shocked. 🙄😑
And while I love that Thua stood up and stepped it up, the calling out in front of everyone was even more surprising. Lol
