Consider: internet frenemies Evan Buckley and Marjan Marwani.

Buck's most recent stunt goes viral, and Marjan is having NONE of that. She's the firefighter queen of the internet, and no one is going to dethrone her, especially not this white boy from California. So she posts an instagram of herself doing something badass, and tags Buck in it.

And so it begins.

Inevitably, the competition goes viral, and, as people on Twitter do, they start shipping them. Buck responds with a selfie of he and Eddie, saying "hate to break it to you, but I'm taken." Marjan retalites with a picture of her and Buttercup. "Cute boyfriend, Buckley, but I think I win this one." Buck posts a picture of Christopher. Marjan posts another of Buttercup.

It's all in good fun, and though they make a public display of one-upping each other, they're also always the first to defend the other as well. Someone says they're #teamLA bc [insert racist reason]; Buck informs them that he doesn't want their support, and they can kindly go fuck themselves. Someone else is #TeamATX bc [homophobia], and Marjan's response is similar to Buck's.
