Had a dumb idea when I should have gone to bed. lol I realized there's a resurgence of cute, plump mascots recently: Sommie from Fire Emblem Engage; Pochita from Chainsaw Man. Plus Nyanko-sensei, because he's always on my mind.

This makes it sound like Hollywood announed an adaptation of Chainsaw Man to take place in USA. ...Don't tell me...😰

Sometimes I wonder if I would have liked Makima…if I didn't drop Chainsaw Man…and if I didn't watch spoilers. She's got that cool trench coat. I love long, black coats. I also love a woman in a suit, without hyperfeminized tailoring. And sometimes, she reminds me of other characters I love, that everyone hates.

Like Kikyo. I love a character who isn't really good or bad, but is also kind of both? Just really ambiguous allegiances/motivations. At least, that's what I always liked about manga-Kikyo. (The anime made some slight changes to make her more unambiguously a villain, early in the series. But that kind of backfired when the later story arcs kind of needed that conflicted empathy for the plot points to work. lol)

This is how people talked about Chainsaw Man to me, and it made me LESS interested.

If no one tells me what something is about, i can't get excited. How will i even know it's my type of thing? "Oh, but it's so awesome, everyone will like it, no matter what their tastes!" NO. That's not how my brain works.

You know what i hear when no one tells me anything about an IP for my brain to latch onto? Nothing. My brain registers the IP as being nothing, not even worth remembering. And weighing nothing, versus the endless backlog of things i AM interested in, in MULTIPLE mediums, makes it even less of a priority.

Also, I'm the type of person who actually likes movie trailers that give away the whole plot. I watched all the cutscenes for DMC3 a zillion times, THEN bought the game, and STILL had lots of fun. Spoilers don't ruin things for me as much as for other people. To me, the worth of s story is in the experience of its scenes. If it's not good enough to enjoy over and over again, maybe it's not as effective at guiding emotions and creating feelings in the audience. If the whole thing can be ruined by simply being told a spoiler, then to me, it probably wasn't very good.

It's so weird for me to see so much Makima-hate whenever she gets a figure announced. Because i dont know her. I only saw the first episode of Chainsaw Man, it didn't really grab me, then i watched the first half of a video essay explaining the series. Didn't get to the part explaining why everyone hates Makima though. But man, do people online ever hate Makima! To me, it's a mystery!😅 And pretty funny to watch.🤣

But um...Is no one going to explain "ignoring every surroundings to amuse herself"??? That's confusing on so many levels! Is she like a maladaptive daydreamer? Relatable, but is that the explanation?

So i went to Honey + Butter's Instagram because they're making Persona protagonist macarons for the Persona 25th anniversary. They've done Persona collaborations and events before, so i wanted to see if they still had those vids up. But i found they do A LOT of anime/videogame/manga macarons!!!! They've got Chainsaw Man, Guilty Gear, Spy x Family, Vocaloid,...! 🤩
