New Tekken Bloodline trailer just dropped. What are your thoughts?
I'm pretty hyped!
Lots of the things I was concerned about in the teaser trailer are addressed in the full trailer. Like I was concerned that they would depict young Jin as already full of rage, giving him no chance to change after his mother's death, and absolving Heihachi of the role he played in cultivating Jin's hatred for his own ends. This trailer makes very clear that Heihachi is invested in shaping Jin into someone violent and hateful, and makes reference to Jin's more pacifist ways beforehand.
Tumblr media
likin jin's lil smile here
I was also mildly concerned that they might somehow do a stripped down Tekken 3 story without reference to Jin's friends, but seeing Xiaoyu and Hwoarang with speaking lines and prominent places on the release poster makes me confident they will get big roles in this. I was also unsure how they would play Jin and Hwoarang's rivalry, but the glimpse we get in the trailer looks well characterised to me.
Tumblr media
"not" friends
I like the inclusion of characters from later games, who could plausibly be around, like Leroy and Feng. I don't know if Julia's Tekken 7 costume might mean they're going to leap straight to her Tekken 7 vlogger vocation. I hope not since I prefer her in earlier games, but the game devs seemed confused for years about what they wanted to do with Julia, so I understand if tv writers will attempt to consolidate her character more into one thing.
Nina seems surprisingly cogent for an amnesiac assassin waking up from cryosleep, but her Tekken 3 story was always odd to me, and the whole Ogre mind control seemed peculiar. Maybe they'll build up some kind of rapport between her and Jin so that Ogre can make her try to assassinate him? Or maybe they want some rapport established to give better grounding to her working for him in later games?
I'm not too fussed about Kazuya being labelled the ultimate evil, and tentatively hopeful that this means the writers are going to try and explain the (otherwise quite left-of-field) hatred that Jin has for the entirely absent Kazuya. I hope we will see a clear Heihachi line of propaganda saying that Kazuya is the worst, and that Kazuya and Ogre are built up to be the big bads of the series, only for Heihachi to shoot Jin in the ending. It seems they'll not shy away from showing Heihachi's ruthless training regimen, which should at least give the audience pause to wonder what living as Heihachi's sons might have been like.
So yeah, this trailer mostly makes me feel positive. It seems like they're committed to a Tekken 3 story, and the changes they're making from what I can see feel pretty uninvasive and contribute to existing lore and world-building in an interesting way. I'm looking forward to seeing how this goes.

Tekken: Bloodline (Netflix Series Trailer):
“You know what? I am so excited for this. Even tho I was focusing more on watching movies, instead of tv series, I will gladly watch this one when it comes out. I think that the Tekken franchise has such a rich lore, so it’s perfect for something like this. Also, I am loving the little details added like: characters doing the same moves as in the games, the special effects when a character hits an attack, and many more. I am excited.”

Tekken will try to make the jump to TV with a new Netflix series on August 18th
Back in March, Netflix announced its Tekken TV show, and now we have a full trailer as well as a release date: August 18th. Dubbed Tekken: Bloodline, this anime adaptation follows the story of the King of Iron Fist Tournament from the perspective of Jin Kazama, as he’s trained by his grandfather Heihachi Mishima on a quest for revenge. It wasn’t the most original storyline when the games debuted…

Netflix's Tekken: Bloodline Anime Is Coming Later In 2022
Netflix just announced one more title for its swelling library of original anime series. It plans to release Tekken: Bloodline later this year and revealed the series with a one-and-a-half-minute "Official teaser" trailer. There's no exact date or mention of episode count, but the summary reveals it will focus on Jin Kazama, who joined the series as a character in Tekken 3. If Tekken: Bloodline follows the games, the show will tie together The King of Iron Fist Tournament that includes control of a powerful corporation as its prize, the intergenerational power struggle of the Mishima family that runs the corporation and the tournament, and the supernatural powers / corrupting nature of the Devil Gene mutation shared by Heihachi Mishima, his son Kazuya Mishima, and Kazuya's son Jin Kazama. Even after failing to deliver a live-action Cowboy Bebop that it deemed worthy of a second season, Netflix continues to focus on adapting anime and games for new content. Its League of Legends-based anime series Arcane received a rave review here, while The Witcher live-action TV show has done well enough to earn a third season, a second anime movie, and upcoming kids show. A live-action adaptation of One Piece started production earlier this year, and Netflix also has anime adaptations of Scott Pilgrim and the Terminator series in the works.

The best Netflix TV show soundtracks are now on Spotify, from Cowboy Bebop to Squid Game
Spotify has launched a new hub featuring soundtracks from many of the best Netflix shows, which could be a fantastic addition if a particular piece of music caught your ear while binging your new favorite Netflix series.
As reported by The Verge, Spotify's Netflix hub is available to both Spotify Premium subscribers and free users (though in the latter case, you will still need to listen to ads between songs), and includes tunes from popular shows like Squid Game, Cowboy Bebop and Bridgerton. A selection of official Netflix podcasts have landed on the streaming platform, too.
In addition to all this new content, Netflix has also released an "enhanced album experience" for its latest original movie, The Harder They Fall. The Idris Elba-led Western film features music by Kid Cudi, Jay-Z and more.
The best Black Friday deals: all the top offers to buy today
The best Black Friday TV deals
The addition of Netflix content to Spotify shouldn't be a surprise, and actually feels a little overdue. Spotify has partnered with entertainment giants in the past, including Disney.
The two companies previously worked to bring a Disney hub to the music streaming platform, loaded with playlists and soundtracks featuring iconic songs from Disney's rich entertainment history.
Analysis: Spotify gets even more robust
We couldn't be happier that in the many years since its launch, Spotify has experimented with bringing a variety of music to its platform. You can listen to most of your favorite bands and artists no problem, which is great, but what's equally impressive is that the music streaming app is host to a variety of fantastic soundtracks, too.
Spotify doesn't just play host to movie and TV show soundtracks, though, as gaming is also hugely represented on the platform. Soundtracks from series like Final Fantasy, Tekken, Assassin's Creed, Sonic the Hedgehog and many more enjoy representation on Spotify, and it only helps add to the service's variety.
The addition of Netflix soundtracks in particular could prove to be important leverage over the competition. Movie and TV show soundtracks aren't easy to come by on other platforms, like YouTube Music, where content uploaded in an unofficial capacity more often than not leads to content strikes against uploaders.
Having Netflix playlists and soundtracks readily available on Spotify, then, takes much of the headache out of not just finding music from your favorite shows, but also being able to stream the audio at a higher quality than what might otherwise be available.
Adele aside, Spotify is right to remove shuffle from albums

Choose your fighter in the game streaming battle royale: Google Stadia vs. GeForce Now vs. Project xCloud
Say goodbye to consoles—your games now live in the cloud. (Glenn Carstens-Peters / Unsplash /)
People have been streaming music and movies for years now, so it’s no surprise that video games have joined the on-demand revolution with a growing number of services ready to beam gameplay right to your computer or television.
Rather than your computer or console running games, remote servers (the cloud) handle the actual processing. As with services like Netflix or Spotify, content—a game’s visuals, in this case—is streamed to your phone, laptop, or TV screen, so you can enjoy high-resolution gaming action on devices that wouldn’t otherwise have the specs to cope.
It sounds good in theory, but the main concern is lag. The extra milliseconds it takes for your commands to enter the cloud, and their effect to register, can really mess with your performance—especially when you only have a moment to take that headshot or make that turn.
However, companies such as Google, Nvidia, and Microsoft promise they currently have the technology to provide a seamless game streaming experience on a multitude of devices. One or more of them might be ideal for you.
Nvidia GeForce Now
Nvidia GeForce Now has been seven years in the making. (David Nield/)
GeForce Now from Nvidia has been going longer than any of its rivals: its testing phase dates back to 2013. That “beta” period is now over, and anyone can sign up for GeForce Now. You can either pay $5 a month for unlimited use of the service, or pay nothing and have your gaming sessions capped at one hour.
Streaming quality maxes out at 1080p and an impressive 60 frames per second in most cases, though some games support 120 fps. For you to enjoy that quality, Nvidia recommends an internet connection with download speeds of 50 megabits per second. The platform can run on slower connections, but the streaming quality will suffer.
Some games are free, but you’ll need to buy some others. If you’ve already bought a game on a compatible store (such as Steam), it’s automatically available to play on GeForce Now. That means there’s a huge library of titles to choose from—currently the best selection of the three streaming services we are talking about here. The full list stretches into the hundreds and you can browse or search for specific titles.
GeForce Now works with laptops, desktops, Android devices, and the Nvidia Shield set-top box, though you will need to add a controller if you don’t already have one and you aren’t using a mouse and keyboard. Nvidia has a list of recommended controllers, or you can pick your own.
With many years of beta testing and the might of Nvidia behind it, GeForce Now is certainly a robust option. Other services might offer higher streaming resolutions, but Nvidia currently has the widest selection of game titles to pick from.
Google Stadia

You can sign up for Google Stadia right now for $129—that’s the extra Pro subscription, which includes a controller, a Chromecast Ultra, and three months of Stadia Pro: the platform’s top tier. After that, the service will cost you $10 a month.
Google has promised to launch a free option for Stadia at some point this year, though you’ll presumably still have to pay for a controller (and a Chromecast Ultra, if you need one). You’d have to pay for individual games, which will go into your library and become available to stream. Google has not yet announced an official release date for this service.
The Pro subscription gets you games at a higher resolution (4K instead of 1080p), with surround sound rather than stereo sound, and also unlocks access to a library of games at no extra cost. Other games can be purchased individually too, with some available at a discount to Pro subscribers.
For now, Stadia Pro is your only option, with the number of supported devices slowly expanding. They now include Chromecast Ultra dongles, the Chrome web browser on any desktop platform, and Pixel phones—support for more devices is coming in 2020, Google says. The company recommends at least a 10 Mbps Wi-Fi connection speed, but 1080p HDR, 60 fps streaming will require 20 Mbps, and 4K HDR, 60 fps streaming will need 35 Mbps.
Some of the games in the Stadia Pro subscription library include Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Red Dead Redemption 2, Destiny 2, Final Fantasy XV, Borderlands 3, and Football Manager 2020.
Microsoft Project xCloud
For now, Project xCloud is an exclusive, invite-only club. (David Nield/)
Project xCloud from Microsoft is still in its testing phase, which means it’s the least-advanced of the three streaming services here. But just because it’s taking the longest to get to market doesn’t necessarily mean it’s going to end up as the least-appealing option. If you want to test it, you can sign up for free, though it’s invite-only at the moment. If you’re interested in being part of the test ride, you can register at the platform’s site, though Microsoft warns you may get your invite many months after you register—if you get it at all.
But before you put your name down on the waiting list, make sure you’ve got an Android phone or tablet running Android 6 or later, and Bluetooth 4 or later. You’ll also need an Xbox Wireless Controller ($47 from Amazon), and a 5-gigahertz Wi-Fi connection with at least 10 Mbps download speeds (or the equivalent cellular connection). And don’t expect out-of-this-world graphics—for now, Project xCloud’s streaming resolution is capped at 720p.
During the current testing phase, you can’t stream to computers or iOS devices, though the service may well expand to these gadgets in the future. Microsoft says more than 50 games are available for testing, including Forza Horizon 4, Gears of War Ultimate Edition, Tekken 7, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Just Cause 4, and Dayz.
With these restrictions in mind, this is probably something only serious Microsoft and Xbox fans need to consider for the time being—more features and support for more devices are likely to be added when the service officially launches.
Expect to hear more about Project xCloud as we get closer to the launch of the Xbox Series X at the end of 2020. Note that this is a different service to the Xbox Console Streaming apps for Windows and mobile, which let you stream gameplay from a physical Xbox console to a Windows computer or mobile device on the same Wi-Fi network.
