Travelling squads over the years.
As Liko, Roy, and Dot make their Terastal Debut, they are truly growing into a great squad of travelling friends of their own now, making their big debuts as Trainers on their own two feet.
Welcome to the club, you three, and do your best!

Something about Amethio's Terastal pose being similar to Friede's (their ways of holding their Tera Orbs and throwing them are the same).
We known Hamber presumably taught Amethio most of what he knows in battles (and Amethio goes to him when he seeks guidance and strength), and even Hamber could pick up on Amethio's battle style changing in HZ034, which happened after Amethio's encounters with Friede.
Hamber is the one who gave Amethio his Tera Orb and also used Terastal in a battle with him, yet when the time comes for Amethio to use Terastal, he channels Friede's stance and posture, not Hamber's. Despite being shaken by his loss against Friede's Terastal in HZ025, Amethio seems to subconsciously be influenced by him (probably much more than he'd like to admit).

The next arc in the anime has been announced, Terastal debut! (Curious that we don't see Friede and co., wonder if we'll see the RVT gang and the kids temporarily part ways, but with Cap looking after Liko in case the Explorers pop up.)
Also, Floragato and the Paldean E4 (and Grusha and Katy)! 🤩

Pokemon Horizons Episode 46 Review - Terastal Debut
What I like most about this episode is that so much is given out and it’s explained so thoroughly. Instead of having the kids go on a Treasure Hunt like in the game, Liko, Roy and Dot enroll in Naranja Academy’s Terastal Course. It turns out that the school allows students from all over the world to enroll in the course to learn more about Terastal as permitted by Director Clavell and Chairwoman Geeta.
Tumblr media
Dendra gives an explanation of how the course works. To study Terastal, students must defeat Gym Leaders according to their aptitude. There’s also a condition as students can only have two chances to challenge a Gym Leader and if they acknowledge their skills, they pass. Also, students cannot terastalize outside of battles not revolving around the Terastal Course; this means that regular trainer battles do not permit Terastalizing. Liko gets paired up with Katy, Roy gets paired up with Brassius and Dot gets paired up with Iono. The kids get camping equipment as they have to camp out for the course. Dot is definitely not amused that she has to touch grass for a while now.
There are so many characters introduced here that it’s insane. Alex and Lucca, Liko’s parents, return and are actually seen together. It’s sweet that she has loving parents. Given that Lucca is a teacher, she doesn’t seem to work at Naranja Academy and probably works elsewhere. That’s an interesting detail. Then we have Clavell who wears the Scarlet version of his outfit. Then there’s the Pokemon League members with Geeta and the Elite Four showing up. It’s crazy how they all just show up at the school like it’s normal business to patrol the school or something. There’s also the debut of Penny who has no lines. I guess she’s forced to work for the League in this iteration, but it’ll be cool if Team Star gets implemented into the story. Jacq and Dendra make their debuts as teachers. They still teach their respective subjects of Biology and Battle Studies. Dendra is the one who explains the course to the kids while Jacq tells them that he wants reports from them as they are still students at the end of the day. Nemona makes her reappearance with a newly evolved Pawmot. In her first appearance, her Pawmo was the butt of a recurring joke where it got sprayed by Brassius’s Doliv’s oil twice. Here, Nemona is now the butt of the recurring joke as her desire to battle Roy gets interrupted by staff and the school bell.
The biggest surprise in terms of character returns is Ann who has transferred to Naranja Academy to partake in the Terestal Course with her newly evolved Dewott. The battle between her and Liko was really well-animated. Liko and Ann were very strategic and used various tactics to one-up each other. My favorite part of the battle was when Dewott used Aerial Ace and its fists glowed up and tried to punch Floragato. I hope Ann battles more in this arc because it’d be a waste to not let her battle when she’s very capable.
Another surprise is the Explorers coming in to partake in the course too. Sidian and Coral arrive late, and use very terrible pseudonyms in order to pass as students. Fortunately, they were able to get in because Chalce is disguised as a teacher and was able to hack them into the database. The Explorers are doing this because they were tasked to keep an eye on Liko. There were two things I liked about the Explorers segment. The first is Coral laughing her head off when Sidian introduces them as Onigiri and Sandwich, which she then accepts. The second is the fact that Liko, Roy and Dot recognize them and isn’t suffering from face blindness that Ash and his friend suffered through for 25 years when it came to Team Rocket’s disguises.
Tumblr media
Last but not least, the Rising Volt Tacklers are doing their own thing right now. Orla is in charge of the Brave Olivine repairs. Mollie and Ludlow are caring for Pokemon. Murdock is working at what seems to be Patisserie Soapberry as his outfit looks similar to Katy’s. Friede is going to research the Six Heroes as he has the Ancient Pokeballs and Lucius’s belt in his possession as Liko goes to take the Terastal Course. It’ll be cool to see what the other RVTs will be doing in future episodes.
As a whole, the entire episode was a very good introduction to the third chapter. The pacing was great in terms of squeezing in everything that was needed. The new opening and ending songs were great too! I think it’s amazing how they managed to get IVE, a K-POP girl group, to sing in Japanese for Horizons. Since K-POP is rather popular in Japan and they have been using KPOP groups for different anime openings for various animes, it was about time that Pokemon would do the same. It shows that this arc will be one to remember with the new changes! It does feel like the quality has stepped up here. I’m honestly hyped up for what’s to come. What about you?

Pretty cool how the anime and games lined up in terms of release this week!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We got the Indigo Disk, with its full Terapagos story, at the same time as Terastal Form Terapagos debuting in the anime! Honestly, it's smaller than I was expecting (especially in-game, although it's hard to get a scale in the anime since it was never fully in frame with any of the humans).
Plus, we may have gotten some clues about what's going on with Rayquaza:
Tumblr media
One of the weirder mysteries is why it always looks like it's Terastalized without seeming to change type. Now with the Indigo Disk, we can make the strong assumption that it's a Stellar Tera Type (made clearer by the rainbow effect surrounding it), tying it even closer to Terapagos.

Bit of a Gimmighoul Raid Event Rant
Tumblr media
So as many of you are aware, there's a Tera Raid event going on in SCVI right now featuring Gimmighoul with the official debut of shiny gimmighoul (until July 2, 2023).
For shiny hunters and collectors, this was kinda a big deal, as shiny Gimmighoul/Gholdengo have been shiny locked in the game. Finally you could get a shiny of it!
First of all, it's a terrible shiny and I know many would agree with me on this.
Tumblr media
You're telling me this was the decision on what the shiny should look like? (Normal on left, Shiny on right) First of all, it looks terrible. There's practically no difference in anything. Could've changed the treasure box with it too at least to make it easier, but no, we get a...paler gimmighoul.
This could be fine (I guess) if it weren't for the fact you don't get any sign of it being shiny. At least in SWSH you got a clear sign of it being shiny with a sparkle effect! (Below)
Tumblr media
But a shiny Tera Raid in SCVI? Nothing. No sparkle, no nothing. You're left guessing, and if you don't know your shinies or you don't know a pokemon well enough to tell when the color is off? You're screwed.
Some pokemon you can tell. (See Shiny Ralts and Shiny Tarountula below)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But there's no sparkle, no stars, no signifier of any kind showing it's Shiny. So good luck knowing a shiny gimmighoul by sight, cuz even without the terastalized effect it's hard to tell.
My next issue with these raids...They're full odds.
This means finding a shiny gimmighoul is a 1/4096 odds chance. And guess what? Your shiny charm (if you have one) has no effect! Neither do the Sparkling powers of the sandwiches!
If you don't have the time, pokemon, or patience to just sit and hunt these 5☆ (only 5☆ raids have a chance to be shiny, so don't bother looking in 3☆ or 4☆ raids to find one), or the option to get help from others via online group battles (if you don't have NSO), you're SOL.
There's also no word (that I'm aware of) on whether gimmighoul will be able to be encountered as shiny on the overworld after these raids are over. And because they're genderless? Shiny breeding is not an option, so scratch that off your list of possibilities.
It just makes me so mad that they finally bring a chance of finding a shiny that's been locked since the game came out in November, and make it impossible to get. They could've, at the very least, raised the chances of finding a shiny like in past raids, but they didn't.
It's a big middle finger to collectors, to shiny hunters, and to those who just really like the gimmighoul line and just wanted a shiny one for fun.

Anipoke_PR uploaded this character correlations chart for upcoming new arc. It kinda makes me clearer that there is now LikoRoyDot trio going on. I've seen lower quality version of this going around before but now we got HQ version uploaded officially!

Theory about Briar, Ogerpon and Terapagos
Teal Mask and Indigo Disk stuff under the cut.
I don't find the evidence for Heath and Sada/Turo creating the Paradox Pokémon very compelling. Heath has no motivation to want tiny future robots, and likewise also no motivation to want the prehistoric beasts to kill him.
What I do believe, however, is that absolutely everything about Terapagos is suspicious.
Terapagos is going to debut in the Indigo Disk, which centers on Blueberry Academy - which is situated in an artificial environment.
Terapagos has the ability to enter a special form when it Terastalizes. Only Ogerpon shares this ability, which was given to her by the mask-maker. Ogerpon's masks are also the reason Kitakami has the Terastal phenomenon.
Briar found out about Ogerpon, who directly connects to her goal of supporting the Terastal phenomenon outside of Paldea. Not long afterwards, an incident occurs in Area Zero. There is a machine inside Area Zero that summons Paradox Pokémon - which is activated by the presence of an artificial being powered by Terastal energy. In the DLC focusing on Terapagos, additional Paradox Pokémon appear besides the ones summoned in the main story.
While the 'Indigo Disk' is already extant before Briar learns of Ogerpon, it might not actually be a living being. While the Professor thinks of it as a Pokémon, it is possible for an inanimate object to carry Pokémon life force without actually being a Pokémon itself - most notably the Ultimate Weapon, which is also capable of supporting a phenomenon that transforms Pokémon.
To put it simply, I believe Briar is using the Indigo Disk and the AI Professor as a model to recreate Ogerpon's effect on Kitakami, and use it to stabilize the Terastal phenomenon in the Terarium.
…I also expect this to backfire.

(why is this image so small and crusty) OKAY. okay. the next arc of horizons has been announced and it's called terastal debut and i'm still sorting out my feelings. literally all we have is this image and the name of the arc as far as i'm aware
Tumblr media
so i'm both extremely nervous and very excited. because like ok. the gym leaders being in the background and also the e4 implies to me that MAYBE the gym challenge will actually start getting involved with the plot? which, one of the big things i actually like about horizons is that it DOESN'T have a focus on the standard 8 gyms e4 champion formula, and while i don't think the rest of the plot would just Disappear (we still got so many lucius pokemon to find!!) it makes me a tad nervous, i don't want to be in a situation where it feels like horizons starts morphing into the stuff i didn't like about anipoke before. BUT that is probably me being paranoid, i really like horizons and i have faith that if they do implement that it should be good/enjoyable
on the other hand i'm super excited about potentially seeing the main trio going to school or just in an alternate environment in general which this seems to imply?? i am SO bad at change so the idea of them maybe leaving the brave asagi for a while (the RVT other than cap aren't even in this image, can't tell if that's because there's already so many characters and they wanted to focus on the new stuff or if they might actually separate for a bit) makes me nervous but excited too. like okay yeah we're over 40 episodes in i'd be down for a massive change like this and some Fresh Situations
of course i'm super excited to see the game characters animated more (MORE NEMONA?? PLEASEEEE?? SHES IN THE IMAGE... I WANT TO SEE MORE OF HER) and holy shit rika i want to see rika...
i've been assuming for a while that sprigatito is going to evolve into floragato soon but this is nice confirmation of that i guess. i'm gonna miss my little baby sprigatito but i'm super hyped for that. i'm also excited for in the future when floragato evolves i hope liko's meowscarada ends up taller than she is LOOOL
side note i'm confused by liko being in her old school uniform...?? they aren't separating her from roy and dot right??? there's no way. it's just a promotional image there has to be an explanation. i'm not even going to consider that as a possibility (edit: i have since realized liko might just continue attending her classes remotely while roy and dot go to school or smth)
AND LASTLY. IN SPEAKING OF DOT
Tumblr media
THIS IMAGE IS SO SMALL. AND SO CRUSTY. BUT THEY MADE THE FANON ART STYLE THING OF DRAWING HER WITH ONE EYE SHOWING REAL. IDK WHY THIS IS TICKLING ME SO MUCH. fanartists were right dot with one eye showing supremacy. is she going to survive school by thew ay she might explode and die idk

Your opinion on the first episode of the Terastal Debut arc?
Tumblr media
It was fine.
I think it did a good justification/segue into this probably 1 to 2 cour Terastal training arc and setting up Those Two Guys from the Explorers being the sitcom arch nemeses of the arc.
Chiri having a hick accent was not what I expected.
But I otherwise liked what they did.
