Texas keeldub Washingtonile allumast

rwrb is delightful and the fic writers i have read are amazing but my only only note is that I have not seen people get truly weird with the texasisms. if alex claremont diaz is the true texas boi, then he would be telling his british bf all about whataburger. I need a fic of alex being so hype about taking henry to Buccee’s
#I need to know june & alex’s buccee’s preferences#what if every christmas henry gets one more piece of merch with that silly beaver logo#rwrb#firstprince#Don’t mind me I’m thinking about my recent road trip to texas#i guess maybe if alex grew up in austin he thinks he’s Too Cool. but…idk….

I'm gonna force my texas headcanons on you yayy
My favorite personality is texas being transfem i actually forgot this one for a good bit but yeah i remembered it recently, i like to think the reason she doesn't figure out her dysphoria sooner is because partly she doesn't have that strong dysphoria and just thinks it's general insecurity that everyone has
I also imagine texas just not talking as a kid, i feel they just took a while to get it figured out i also imagine he had a weird voice for some reason
He has perception lens but doesn't use them because he doesn't like the look of them, another optional thing to my theory is that he might need them to drive but still doesn't and when someone finds his license says he needs his glasses they're just like "oh my god you could've killed me!"
He falls asleep right after work, for like 3-4 hours because of his sleep patterns (totally not me and school)
He crochets, i just gave him my one of my hobbies
Oooooo I love all of these :D
Transfem Texas is not something I would have thought of and yet it fits so well. Justa dumbass not realizing anything until someone gives a dare to wear a dress and of course Texas would never back down from a dare, so once the dress is on it’s like “…oh shit”
I mean Texases whole thing is guns soo…it would make sense if he was the quite kid, made fun of for his voice being weird and snapped…seems accurate
Blind as fuck Texas is hilarious, no one understands how this man has come so far without his glasses. The best shot in the StateHouse who actually uses guns consistently, best aim just in general for most things, I mean they don’t even ever see him stumble into stuff. Then they are on the road and get pulled over, Texas has someone grab his license for him and BAMB card says like “Yo ass so blind you couldn’t find a nuclear reactor if it wss right in front of ya” and everyone in the car is automatically terrified :D
Texas needs more hobbies than just ✨~Gun~✨ so him crocheting I can get behind. Same with the napping after work, cause let’s be honest here, there is no way that man is on a sleep schedule that is healthy enough to even PRETEND to be a sleep schedule XD
#welcome to the table#wttt texas#wttsh texas#welcome to the statehouse#wttt#wttt headcanons#but this time they aren’t mine#texas is an interesting character#cause you can say whatever traumatizing thing and be like#“yeah that’s accurate to Texas”#he is just like that#kyi requests#technically since it was sent in

Another thing I have been paying attention to on my re-read is differences between races. Here are some traits that are associated with certain races: Aegir - when they are in a dry environment for too long they experience skin discomfort Archosauria - take great pride in the volume of their tails Caprinae - resist cold Cautus - fast Durin - passionate about probing underground, especially for minerals Elf - highly sensitive to Originium, lack resistance to Oripathy symptoms Feline - can silently jump from high places, can have natural blue (and maybe green) hair Forte - sturdy Kuranta - fast Liberi - have good eyesight, owl-themed Liberi have heavy sleep patterns that are largely reversed from other species as well as good sense of hearing Lung - tough (as in, tanking a point blank explosion kind of tough) Lupo - black hair and orange eyes combo is considered rare and is associated with the Texases Perro - good sense of smell, known for their loyalty Sankta - empathy, it's psychologically hard for them to harbor hostilities towards one another or point their guns on another Sankta, mixed-blood children can't be Sankta, they find wearing something on their head uncomfortable Sarkaz - long-lived, especially vulnerable to Oripathy, don't care about names and dates, vampires' eyes light up (literally) when they are excited, talented in Originium Arts Savra - long-lived, some have a natural ability to camouflage themselves Ursus - strong Vouivre - tough, prone to violence Vulpo - good sense of smell
Every once in a while it is mentioned that there are anatomical differences between races and that people who study to be doctors need to know them. Outcast distinguishes Reed from the Vouivres based on her anatomy.
It's also mentioned that some nations are more discriminatory towards certain races: Everyone (but especially the Sankta) is racist towards the Sarkaz. The Sarkaz are racist towards the Sankta and there is also some general supremacism Iberia - Aegir Laterano - Liberi, though it is less racism and more the Sankta just being fundamentally different from other races (doesn't help poor Liberis though) Ursus - Hippogryphs, Felines Victoria - Zalaks, Savras

Writing's Will's thick accent is so fun, especially when I have to read things out loud, I get to act it out and have fun twanging.
I also have a website with a bunch of "Texasisms" that I use throughout my writing for Will because writing him with a Thick Texan accent is canon to me. Let Will have a twang! Let Nico be in love with his twang!!!! Let Will be Southern as FUCK!!!

Hmm, BoC Texas or Exusiai, either one is fine
Bloodline of Combat Collection/Burn It Down.
The last of the Texases dropped the lighter, leaving the life she never wanted behind.
DISCLAIMER my brain exploded from reading Il Siracusano so I still dont understand Texas's story too well. This is the best I could do... I think in the actual skin animations it would have some very neat flame effects.

They’re Sizing Up Earth’s Lungs. It Takes Tape Measures and Tree Climbing. (New York Times)
Excerpt from this New York Times story:
With the help of a small rope tied around his ankles, Eugenio Sánchez, lithe at age 50, shimmied himself all the way up a towering tree like a human inchworm, his chest heaving from the exertion, just to pick a few leaves.
The leaves, found only on the highest branches, would help the scientists waiting below identify the species. And that, along with the tree’s exact size (or at least as close as one can approximate a tree’s size) would tell them something very important: how much carbon it contained.
The team, wearing gumboots caked with mud, were at the beginning of a monthslong process of painstakingly measuring pretty much every woody plant growing on this patch of Amazon rainforest in Colombia, one by one. A census of all 125,000 individual plants with a trunk size at least a centimeter in diameter.
It is part of a new, multimillion-dollar effort in dozens of patches of forest across the world that’s aimed at figuring out, to an unprecedented degree of precision, the extent to which forests perform an epic service to humanity by capturing and locking away huge amounts of carbon dioxide, the main planet-warming greenhouse gas.
The Amazon is vast. Nearly 10 Texases would fit in it. Amid that emerald expanse, this infinitesimal patch, less than a tenth of a square mile, is a stand-in for the larger whole. As a representative sample of the northwestern part of the Amazon, it contains around 1,200 species of woody plants, from gigantic kapok trees to tightly coiled liana vines. All of that in the space of six or seven New York City blocks.
With measuring tape and magnifying glasses, the scientists and their helpers traipsed over slippery snarls of roots and pushed through dense undergrowth. Fallen carcasses of giant matamatá and ojé trees became makeshift gangplanks across swampy whorls of muddy detritus.
For most of the year, in fact, this parcel of forest is flooded and accessible only by canoe. It is crawling with scorpions, tarantulas, and chiggers that burrow into skin.
One might ask, all that trouble just to put a tape measure around a tree?
At a global scale, this kind of hand-gathered data may fill a major gap in our understanding of forests. Last year, the Bezos Earth Fund put $12 million toward creating at least 30 of these sites across the world, mostly in the tropics. The effort is spearheaded by the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute, or STRI, which pioneered the calculation of forest biomass decades ago. They hope to one day have 100 of these sites.
More accurate carbon accounting, these groups say, will strengthen the fledgling efforts to put a realistic trading price on carbon dioxide emissions as a way of creating financial incentives to discourage deforestation and to pollute less. This data could also improve the complex models that scientists use when trying to understand global warming.
Along the way, the team in Colombia has also discovered previously uncataloged and rare species. And for some local Indigenous people, like Mr. Sánchez, there’s employment that draws on generations of inherited wisdom.

There's a lot of pointlessly gender shit in this world but I sometimes think about the metal detector lines in my city's court house was literally labeled as men's lines and women's lines and the fucking women's line ment they'd check your bag if you had one. I was so confused at first I was like are they gonna check my pussy? The older lady in front said "they just check your bag here, you can go to the men's line since you don't have a bag" and the men's line didn't have a line because you can just walk in. Actually insane they gendered the metal detector like what if a woman didn't have a bag or God forbid a MAN carry a shoulder bag or something. Why not just line if you had a bag or didn't. I assume this is a Texasism and most places don't gender metal detectors

Want to Save the Amazon? Solve Property Rights
To stop deforestation in the region, Brazil must first figure out who has rights to roughly one-third of its land.
“Stop deforestation in the Amazon!” It sounds easy through the bullhorn of an angry protester marching down the streets of London or Washington. But how?
Efforts to curtail the expansion of cropland for soy, the Amazon’s largest crop, have been only partly successful. To keep cattle ranchers from expanding their pastures and encourage investments to improve productivity, the government must devise new penalties and incentives. It must also stop illegal mining and rapacious harvesting of precious wood.
And here’s the unexpected twist: For all this to happen, Brazil must fix a long-standing, complex legal quirk in the Amazon region that environmental protesters in London or Washington have probably never considered: It must resolve the property rights to roughly one-third of the land.
“Non-Intended Public Land” — for which no record can be found of a legally approved purpose — covers 143.6 million hectares of the Brazilian Amazon, according to Brenda Brito of Imazon, the Institute of People and the Environment of Amazonia. That’s the equivalent of two Texases. For Europeans, it’s a territory roughly the combined size of France, Germany and Spain.
A growing share of the Amazon’s deforestation takes place here: 51% of the nearly 11 million square kilometers cleared each year between 2019 and 2021, according to a study by the Amazon Environmental Research Institute, up from 44% of the 7 million cleared annually over the preceding three years.
