--EDIT FROM YEARS LATER OML-- I had this sitting in my drafts completed with all mercs except for the last 3 listed, between procrastination and life and falling out of the fandom I guess I just eventually forgot... Once in a blue moon I'd come back to this post and think... "I'm sorry tomatosoopp... I will finish this for you one day. Maybe not now, or later, maybe not even soon... but... eventually. SCOUT

Scout is pretty ADHD, and we all know how that's the peanut butter to his S/O's jelly. He gets excited with you about the things you love! And stims? Oh yeah. Leg bouncing, pen chewing, and the likes. So he won't judge you when you excitedly flap your hands or smack your thighs/any available surface. In fact, he'll share his fidgets with you when he notices you're feeling nervous or stressed. Sometimes he forgets you are extremely empathetic and sensitive to high energy or strong moods, so if he gets too excited or angry or anything of the sort he will do his best to calm himself as to not overwhelm or overstimulate you!

SNIPER

Sniper's not much of a talker, but he loves to listen to you ramble! Sometimes just the sound of your voice makes him smile! Also since he knows how tactile you are, he doesn't mind letting you feel his scars, tracing your fingers along and across them. He also lets you scritch his stubble, and he finds your reaction both amusing and adorable! Also, if you love nature, Sniper is your perfect guy! He'll take you for long walks in the woods or along hiking trails, not minding if you are slow or simply taking your time to stop and observe every little detail <3

ENGINEER

Engie loves all your little quirks!! He thinks you're the cutest darn thing on the planet! He'll definitely build you some fun fidgets and stimmy things! He also has earmuffs for when he's working with machinery, if you're feeling overstimulated he'll let you borrow them! Additionally, he enjoys relaxing with you by a fire just to chill out and play his instruments! He knows you have a fondness for music, so he tries to learn your favorite songs! He is also the type to always check on you to make sure you eat and drink <3

HEAVY

Like Sniper, Heavy isn't much for words. He doesn't mind silence, so he's perfectly okay with you zoning out, staring into space, or just lost in your thoughts. He also understands when you have a hard time wording things. He still struggles with English. And if you're feeling anxious or overwhelmed, he'll scoop you up in his big arms and hold you like a lil baby, and gently whisper words of praise and comfort. He'll also let you take naps in his arms <3 Like Engineer, he likes to make sure you don't skip meals. He doesn't always understand that some food textures are unpleasant, but he tries his best to find something you like!

DEMOMAN

Demo LOVES cuddles. He won't admit it to the other guys, but he finds it soothing. He knows you love to lay your head on his chest and listen to his heartbeat. He also gives great hugs! You told him once that you enjoy physical pressure on your body, so he'll give you extra-firm hugs, and sometimes he'll lay right on top of you to take a nap! He definitely will gift you some weighted blankets, along with some fun beanbags just to mess with. He also makes sure any touch on you is firm and grounding. Additionally, if you have a habit of sleeping a lot, it's no worry for this man! He's perfectly happy to pass out with you for 12+ hours and STILL have room for naps! As long as they are with you, he is happy <3

PYRO

Pyro themselves are nonverbal autistic, so honestly to them, you are the most normal person out there! They have hyperactive tendencies and struggle to pay attention to anything too long, but when it comes to you, you have their full attention! (To the best of their ability, anyway!) They will happily share their love for fire and cute things with you, though they also love when you share your hyperfixations with them! Not only that, but they will often bring you gifts relating to the things they know you love! Should you ever feel sad, touch-starved, or understimulated, just know Pyro will always be by your side to give you the best cuddles and hugs you could ask for!

MEDIC

If you are someone who is always psyched to learn new things, Medic is your perfect guy! He knows a lot about physical and psychological health, including autism! He will take time out of his day to educate you on your brain and why it works the way it does! He will do his absolute best to keep you informed so you can better understand yourself! (Even if at times you get tired of his lecturing) He also knows that you are very hands-on when it comes to many projects, so he will allow you to assist with simple tasks in his lab! He also knows you struggle with your health habits, aka hygiene, sleeping, eating, drinking, etc., so expect this man to be on your back! He wants to make sure you take good care of yourself <3

SPY

Spy is a bit of a tricky one. He seems completely unbothered by all of your quirks, almost to the point where you wonder if he even notices them. Rest assured, he certainly does! But he does his best not to bring attention to it unless you are the first to bring it up. He wants you to feel as though your autism doesn't define you, after all, you are more than your disability! At times he may challenge you to break from any bad or unhelpful habits, such as nail biting and pulling hair, or more serious matters like harmful stims when you get upset. Unrelated, he knows you are a person of the senses. So any gift to you is always a high-quality item: scented soaps and lovely colognes/perfumes, clothing that is soft and pleasant to touch, weighted blankets, and any type of small heavy object that may be grounding. Not to mention foods he knows you'll eat, since taste and texture can sometimes be an issue. Of course there is more, and if you don't like scented things and find soft textures on your body displeasing like some, he will accommodate for that as well! And lastly: Don't let him catch ANYONE making fun of you! They may not live to see the sun tomorrow.

SOLDIER

Honestly... He might also be autistic. No one knows for sure, but even if he was, he would loudly and proudly deny it. Loudly seems to be something the two of you do well-- you may find yourself struggling to control your volume in your excitement, but that's okay! He does too! Though he may also partly be hard of hearing from all of those rocket blasts... Regardless, the two of you seem to match each other's energy to near perfection- Yelling and screaming about nonsense, singing loud and off-key, even just making animal sounds or random noises incomparable to anything on this planet... Still he enjoys your company, neither of you really seem to be able to get a handle on social cues, but to heck with those! They're all confusing anyway! At least you understand each other! Additionally, the two of you may also struggle to remember things, especially short-term. But you're a good dynamic, always reminding each other what was forgotten! (...Just don't act surprised when he wants to recite to you the Declaration of Independence by heart for the 5th time that day.) And lastly, if you ever tell him you're autistic, surely he will tell you that you are American. And should you attempt to explain what autism is, more than likely he will assure you that you aren't (even if you clearly are-) and that you're perfect! He sees a lot of himself in you and he thinks you are the best thing since the birth of America <3

Hii!! Im new here and i was wondering if i could request some headcanons of some tf2 men(Medic, Sniper and Engie(they have stolen my heart<3)) with a s/o/reader that has sensory issues. Basically certain textures (both with food and touch) can make them super uncomfortable and gross feeling. Like squirmy and rapidly shaking hands in the "Oh god it touches me!" kind of gross.

I have adhd and sensory issues so it can get pretty intense with how drastic my reactions can be when I touch or eat something icky to me. I tend to get very clammy and jumpy with i touch something icky. I wonder how the mercs would handle/help their s/o when they struggle with this issue?

Welcome! it’s wonderful to have you! I am more than okay with prompts like these, as I am autistic and id like to create as much rep for us as possible! so this is definitely right up my alley!

also idk about y’all but FUCK sherpa textured clothes it sends me into an immediate rage- also chalk against sidewalks, chalk in general actually.

Medic, sniper, + engineer with an s/o that has sensory issues

Medic:

Thankfully with his medical knowledge, this is something he is quite familiar with!

He usually tries to warn you if he can tell a texture will bother you, he has a mental note of the things that will overstimulate you. However if for some reason you have no choice and you need to touch that thing, he’ll give you his (clean) gloves! they’re nice and thick, so you won’t be able to feel it! however if the gloves can also prove to be too much, he’ll just help you out and grab the source of your discomfort so you don’t have to.

If you touch anything icky he INSTANTLY carries you over to the nearest sink so you can wash your hands and get rid of that nasty feeling as much as you can.

He also never shies away from giving you emotional support, even if it’s as something as simple as cheering you up when you start to panic over touching something uncomfortable- he considers it to be no problem whatsoever!

Sniper:

Oh he feels so bad for you, he just wishes he could take away all the bad textures just so you don’t have to struggle so much.

He will never invalidate your issues- he loves you too much for that, and he’ll be happy to comfort or aid you in any way he can- just say the word!

He’s obviously no expert in any of this, and he may slip up from time to time and forget about certain textures that bother you, however you can absolutely see how hard he tries to help you and just overall make life a bit easier.

For these reasons, he does not allow you to wash dishes or do any chore that requires you to touch something icky or uncomfortable- his hands are pretty much made for getting the dirty work done anyways!

Engineer:

He refuses to let you touch anything that may trigger your sensory issues, he will insist to handle it himself- he can’t let his sunshine go through something so stressful!

He may end up becoming a bit of a mother hen about it, he’s just so worried about seeing you in any sort of discomfort- you may have to tell him to tone it down a bit..!

He really does just want to help, just tell him your methods of coping with your sensory issues and he’ll do everything he can to use them to your advantage!

But similar to medic, he might just get you some gloves! he knows he can’t hide you away from all the bad feelings in the world, but he can at least help you fight against them.

Okay okay, I love your autism hcs!! So as an autistic person, I recently learned that apparently asd peeps like being under weight, like having pillows or a whole person on top of them just lying there on them while they’re lying down. How do Heavy, Medic, Sniper and Scout react to their asd s/o just asking them to lie down on them( oh god imagine s/o holding and nuzzling into them while they’re lying there X333 )?

Okay, all this does is make me want weighted blankets with the TF2 mercs on them, anime body pillow style.

I will only be taking my weight stimulation via affectionate but morally ambiguous murderers, please. :)

Weight For It

Heavy:

With Heavy’s many siblings and his size, he’s usually the one that gets laid on top of.

So when S/O asks him to put his weight on them, he’s very hesitant, to say the least.

One wrong move, and S/O would have a broken rib…or worse, a broken neck.

At first, he refused, saying that he was too big, and that they would get hurt.

However, after a lot of pleading, they finally came up with a compromise; instead of Heavy resting his entire weight on S/O, he would lay on his stomach, lay his right leg and arm over them, and lightly prop his body on their side.

This would provide the weight, but Medic wouldn’t have to be on standby.

Once Heavy got into position, S/O hugged their arm and settled in in, letting themselves stretch out and relax.

Whenever their bones popped or the bed settled, Heavy was on alert, afraid that he had hurt them. But, after S/O promised they’d tell him if they were uncomfortable, Heavy allowed himself to relax too.

After Heavy got used to the position, he wasn’t as afraid to be S/O’s weight, and even enjoyed it whenever they asked.

Sometimes, S/O lays on top of Heavy with a weighted blanket and falls asleep watching a movie. They only problem is when Heavy has to use the bathroom.

Medic:

Medic, on the other hand, is ever willing to be a dead weight for their partner.

They are just small enough to not pulverize S/O, but big enough to provide stimulation.

A common position is for his body to be directly on top of them, stomach down, while he lays his head on S/O’s shoulder and frees his arms to read or write notes in his notepad.

It’s on the days that Medic just lays on them, face down on their chest that S/O knows he has had a difficult day.

Another comfortable position is what Medic likes to call the “tortoise” - both lay on their stomachs, one on top of the other, with one propping their head on the other’s. Medic is usually on the bottom for this one due to the height difference.

Medic also knows exactly where to apply pressure to realign S/O’s spine, shoulders, and neck.

He used to suddenly crack their bones whenever he felt any sort of tension while on top of them. It was more of a habit than anything - the mercs had to have a lot of sports massages between fights.

But after a few black eyes from a startled S/O, Medic let’s his weight do the work.

Sniper:

Despite his height, Sniper is surprisingly light. Years of sitting in his hideout haven’t done his bone or muscle density many favors.

However, what he lacks in weight he more than makes up for in surface area.

He can completely cover S/O’s body and wrap his arms under them, his hat slid down over his face.

Sniper often falls asleep on S/O, only twitching when he hears footsteps or voices.

After a hard week, he wakes more easily, usually trying to grab beside him or where his sheath would be. S/O will gently push him back down, whispering that it’s okay, and he falls right back to sleep.

Sometimes, if he isn’t too sore, Sniper will lay on his back and let S/O lay face-up on his stomach while he wraps his arms around them completely.

They joke that Sniper looks like an otter floating in a river.

If he’s in a good mood, he’ll knock on her head lightly and say, “Now ‘ere’s a good oyster…almost too cute to crack, I’d say…”

And while S/O giggles, he’ll roll over a few times, still holding them to his stomach.

After watching him be a murderous criminal all day, it’s nice for S/O to see a softer side of him.

Scout:

Scout sees S/O’s request as more of a challenge than a favor.

Luckily, because of his small stature, he doesn’t hurt S/O when he takes a running start and jumps on top of them.

If he’s just won a battle or has a lot of energy, Scout practically tackle them before settling into a comfortable position.

However, if it’s near the end of the week, or if he isn’t feeling great, he’ll just flop onto S/O like a dead fish.

Like Sniper, he often falls asleep.

S/O likes to scratch the top of his head and run their hands through his hair, which makes him doze off almost immediately.

One time, after a particularly cutthroat battle, Scout said that S/O should be on top this time, saying that he could take it (despite the fact that S/O was much taller and heavier than him).

Scout insisted they put all their weight on him, and every time S/O asked if they were okay, they let out a strangled, “Yeah! Yeah, I’m good! Nothin’ to worry about!”

After about ten minutes of stifled gasping, S/O rolled off, leaving Scout sputtering. After a few moments, he smiled and said, “See! I told ya I could take it!”

S/O smiled back and kissed him before pushing him on top of them.

“I like when you’re on top anyway.”
