TAG GAME

I was tagged by @chaoticpixls, a fabulous and discerning moot who I discovered shares a passion for BOOKSESSES! We like several of the same authors and books.

Favorite place: I'm a city person. Even in game, San Myshuno is one of my favorite worlds. I love big cities.

Favorite book(s):

That's so hard because I feel there are books that will be more meaningful depending on my mood/life circumstance. I'll share here some recent faves.

The Lights of Prague-Nicole Jarvis- It's such an interesting story about an aristocratic vampiress (NO, REALLY?? ME??) and a working-class vampire hunter and this underground world in Prague. It's got magic and science and politics and secret societies and intrigue and shady pasts....So fun. I keep hoping for a sequel.

House of Hunger- Alexis Henderson- Okay, okay- so this poor girl with a guilty conscience agrees to become an indentured servant of sorts to a vampiress' household. The power dynamics in this novel are super intriguing as well as the emotional developments. It reminded me a bit of Bluebeard-type stories. Really well written.

Certain Dark Things- Silvia Moreno-Garcia- This is one of my favorite authors. I love everything she's written. And this novel is abouuuut...*drumroll* A VAMPIRE (gasp). But it's a different take from the Dracula-esque vampires of Victorian gothic. This is a vampire of Mexican roots- Aztec, more specifically. Atl is the survivor of some vampiric cartel violence and she hides out in Mexico City, where she befriends Domingo, a lonely young man. It's such a cool, original take on a genre that can be very overdone. The writing is gorgeous- the story stays with you long after reading it.

The Daevabad Trilogy- S.A. Chakraborty- OMG, I inhaled this. I fell in love with the world building, with the protagonists, with the magic system...It's so beautiful and touching and epic. No vampires.

Deathless- Catherynne M. Valente- A retelling of Koshei the Deathless fairytale in the backdrop of Russia during the revolution and the rise of the Soviet Union- told mostly through Marya's eyes. It is just stunning and powerful.

Favorite TV Show: I watch very little TV. Recently rewatched the Devil May Cry anime and some documentaries.

My bestie?

Juju (From Bite Me!)! He's fun and sweet and smart. I feel hanging out with Julian would be low stress and the conversation would be good. Especially if we're spilling tea about a certain vampire boss of his... But Terence (from Amaranthine) also. I love Terence- he's too good for this world: he's thoughtful, he's an artist, he's a gentle person and HE BAKES.

2. My spouse/partner

Such a hard question because I can't imagine my characters without their significant others! This smacks of betrayal...But let's not be dramatic. It's Gideon (From Darker). Selfless, protective, devoted, and giving Gideon.

From someone else's story...Ok, @cinamun's Charlie. He would be the most loving and dedicated and he is skilled -*ahem*- in other fields of knowledge.

Lou. Like- no question. I wouldn't be so secret about it, either. Because the man is gorgeous and hawt.

Other people's? Hmm...I'm not sure...JUST JOKIN'! It's @alinelie's Ledger. He is so elegant and sexy and got them bedroom eyes... Or @pralinesims's Vale, who seems like a sentimental red flag, but red matches my outfit.

4. My friendly rival

Hmm...Someone who'd push me to do better, too? Probably Lee (From Tomarani Adventure). Lee is super smart and hardworking. Just talking about him makes me want to go fold my laundry.
