he only pulls away when you bend down, swaying dangerously as you attempt to unclasp your shoes from your night out. he cajoles you into sitting, and releases your hand to unclasps the delicate straps of the heels your wore out. he does so with a hypnotic amount of deftness. you need his fingers in your mouth.

you hum with a grin. he glances up at you, ivy-colored eyes piercing into your own.

he's intimidating, even now, after you've been sharing a bed with him for so long. maybe normally, your stomach would churn and you'd feel an edge of nervousness despite this familiarity. however, you had indulged this evening. all you can think about is how very handsome sae is and how you want his tongue in your mouth.

"sae—" you try not to whine, but it sounds a bit like you do anyway. "c'mere. i want to see your face."

"maybe when i'm done."

"'maybe'?" you do actually pout now.

sae slips one of your shoes off and places it neatly to the side. "maybe."

"you're mean."

"and you—" sae slides up, apparently done, and braces his hands on either side of your shoulders. back against the kitchen table, where you're perched and still swaying a bit. "indulged in too much plum wine."

there's only a light or two on the in the apartment, casting delicate shadows. the slope of sae's nose shades over his cheek, and his right iris dances like a livened tidepool. maybe it's the darkness of your home or sae itoshi leering over you (deliciously), but you can't stop yourself from squirming a little.

"a reasonable amount, i'd say."

"how many glasses?"

"i... didn't count—"

"five. you were working on your sixth."

"oh my god," you groan, falling back into the table as dramatically as possible. "yes, you know this i'm sure— god forbid a person have desires."

a hand grabs your jaw, firm enough to be unignorable and soft enough to be that of a lover.

"eat and drink something, then we can kiss all you want." sae nods toward the kitchen.

"... cruel."

"i'll cook for you."

"you're a shit cook, don't touch my stove."

"if you didn't want me to not touch your stove, then you should have not touched the plum wine."

sae leans in close, breath ghosting over your lips. too warm, like you're going to immolate. "and you will be too, once you're a bit more sober. let me get you some water."

you could complain further, but it's all been for theatrics anyways. making yourself a problem for sae to deal with is something that you do with intention. a purpose. most of the time.

sometimes, it just happens. because perhaps sae is right and you did over indulge at his silly little work event. you didn't get too sloppy, but you know you were, perhaps, a bit brazenly moony toward him. you're sure his teammates are going to give him hell for it during tomorrow's practice, but sae probably knew that they would do that anyway, considering he was bringing you to this event at all.

and whether you like it or not, you are very overtly in love with sae itoshi. he loves you the same way, you think, even if someone with a less keen eye may struggle to see it.

"fine." you huff, rise, and then pause. "you think i'm... tasty?"

sae has his hand around your own, pausing himself, looking back from where he leads you into the little alcove that is your kitchen.

"i can say a lot of things about how you taste, but i will refrain, because if i do, i am going to want to taste you right now?"

"... not even a kiss, sae?"

maybe it's the tone you use. maybe it's because sae has a few weak spots when it comes to your sparingly-expressed whining, but a soft 'kiss?' makes him oh-so weak for you.

hey! I’ve just recently accepted (aka connected all the dots) the fact that I’m a femme but I wanted to get some other femmes takes on how they identify with it to help me better understand it. What are some of the most important aspects of ur identity and what resources/books would u recommend for someone with less knowledge? 💕💕

yes ofc! i won't claim to be the arbiter of knowledge on this topic, but my femme identity wasn't something i had considered until i started dating my butch 3 years ago. for me, femme is dichotomized by my relationship to butches, ie a mutual respect and protection not found within heterosexuality. this is going to be a little long because there is much to say on this topic, apologies in advance (i like writing about and studying gender).

femininity in itself is a system that is naturalized to the convention of woman, sociologically speaking, and is indeed a form of gender conformity for people who identify with or are perceived as women (ofc this varies when accounting for the nuances of transfeminity and race, but generally speaking femininity as a construct is falsely attributed to "woman"). so in a sense, the gender conformity, as in historical accounts of butchness and femmeness, is itself the protection that i offer to my butch. it allows my butch access to a social system that he, as a masculine person perceived by society to be a woman, would not otherwise have access to.

i mostly read radical feminist texts, and to understand the system of femininity, the naturalization of gender as a construct, and the place that lesbianism has in a heterosexual society, i would recommend reading lesbian second wave author monique wittig. the category of sex and one is not born a woman are two essays by her that i recommend to everyone because they explain heterosexuality and how it constructed the conventions of "man" and "woman" around itself and embedded that into the fabric of western society well.

speaking personally, existing as a femme with my butch is comforting because i am allowed to explore femininity in a context removed from heterosexuality, removed from men. femininity is a performance, and when i perform it for my butch it feels right. i don't claim that my "version" of femininity is really entirely different from a heterosexual woman's or a bisexual woman in a relationship with a man, but the performance of it works in opposition to male ownership over my body. i am performing it for a lesbian, a butch, not a man, and that is what makes being femme fundamentally different from women performing femininity for men.

it all comes down to that performance, and specifically who the audience of that performance is. again, at the end of the day, i am gender conforming because women are expected to be feminine in their actions, appearance, and choices, but that gender conformity is a privilege i use as a protection for my butch and other butches i am friends with. i struggled with femininity when i was younger, i never performed womanhood to the degree that i was meant to due to the fact that i am a lesbian (and if you read one is not born a woman she goes into excellent detail on the inherent degendering of lesbians), and that is something that informs my choices and the femininity that i perform.

being degendered by heterosexual patriarchy, and choosing to conform to some of its expectations while rebelling through the act of being a lesbian and through performing femininity for a masculine figure who is not a man is the most important aspect of the femme identity to me. it almost in a sense adds insult to injury for heterosexual expectations. as i said before, femme is dichotomized by butch and the protection offered to butches through gender conformity that they don't have access to, so another really important part of my identity as a femme is how i can use that identity to help and protect butches.

i hope this helped!! like i said i'm not as much of an expert in femme writing (because honestly i've struggled to find my own resources) but i do recommend reading feminist texts first and foremost, because understanding the lesbian gender category in general is paramount understanding how femininity functions sociologically, and how adhering to it is a privilege not offered to certain members of the lesbian community.

okay so uhhh im gonna give you the basics and if you want more ill give you all of their character lore :))

Foxtrot is a little uhh. code name they have :))( the reasoning for which is a part of @agoodpairofsocks 's worldbuilding n stuff... i can elaborate if you want OR you can go ask them about rich inc/ the mortal men if you wanna know more :))) Their actual name is Dakota Alcubierre. They're Mexican, and were born in Mexico, but moved to a us-mexican border town in texas when they were 5-6 and grew up there. They're amab genderqueer(they/them) and gay :))

They're 22(during the storyline, which, for the most part, takes place in late 1999) and 6'4" lmao uhhh

personality wise, theyre very spontaneous. they dont plan shit out at ALL. theyre very much a "well i havent died yet so i must be doing something right" kinda person. they love people. like a lot. social guy :)) theyre pretty goofy and they love to have fun. they know like. closeup magic and shit (they were a very bored child) theyre super loyal and they dont feel neutral about ANYONE they interact with. either they'd take a bullet for you or they hope you get hit by a train.

theyre confrontational, and rarely do they keep an opinion to themself. theyre kind of weird and they embrace it fully. theyre loudly and unappologetically themself. while theyre hard to piss off, and most the time will laugh at you if youre being a dick, if they find themself in an argument, they tend to psychoanalyze a lot. they can be immature at times -- when they find a situation stupid they lighten it up by any means. despite this, they are rational and solution oriented in serious situations.

theyre uh, chock full of religious trauma lmao and can become stiff and hard to work with when similar or related topics are present(both physically and metaphorically)

they can be sort of touchy feely with their friends -- always hanging off someones shoulder

Summer Times

Hi! I'm finally back from my two week abroad trip!

The first time, Tim notices someone observing them from afar, it is when they are all settled for a brief dinner together. It is the middle of the week, and Bruce gathered all of them together to... relax. Which is strange but not unwelcome. Everyone is so involved in chattering and bantering that they don't notice a lingering gaze through the window; they don't, but Tim does.

It takes him a few seconds to figure out that it is Jason.

He is not sure if Bruce reached for him to invite, and Jason just declined, or there was no offer to begin with, but Tim knows for sure Jason lurkes behind windows for a few minutes before disappearing in the night.

And the funniest thing? Tim understands him.

He thinks he is not Jason's replacement — never truly was, despite what the other thought — but in a way, they did swap their places. Because in the past, it was Tim, who hid on the rooftops, staring at Bruce and his family, listening to the snippets of their conversations. And now it is Jason.

It is still different, of course. Tim had a choice, and it was his... enthusiastic project, if anything — Jason doesn't really. But if anyone understands the feeling of standing far away from everyone, it is still Tim.

That's why the next time in happens, Tim reaches out.

It is after the particularly easy mission, when Tim spots the red motion on the rooftop. He slips away from Nightwing and Robin, who debate about something with Batman through the comms, and finds himself standing behind Red Hood.

The way Red Hood taps his fingertips on the balustrade makes Tim remember that he is not included in their comms anymore. He wonders how lonely it is, to hear the voices of his brothers, but never being able to grasp the whole conversation they have.

'Hood,' he calls for him.

To Jason's credit, he doesn't scramble in panic, even if it seems that he is surprised by his appearance.

'Red,' he mutters back, instantly defensive. 'What, came to mock me?'

Tim rolls his eyes; he wishes things would be easier with Jason, but they are not, and he can't really blame him for that.

'Had I ever mocked you?' He copies his stance, arms folding in the chest. When Jason tilts his head, almost asking, "Really now?" Tim rolls his eyes again. 'Okay, I did a few times. But it mostly were jokes about your death.'

Jason chuckles.

'Good one, punk. It changes everything.'

'You like jokes about your death,' Tim protests. 'And I know you allow Arsenal to joke about it, so it is not entirely closed topic.'

'I don't remember allowing you to joke about it, though.'

...

This conversation is so fucking stupid. Tim didn't even came here for this, but-

But fine. He still can win.

'So, you only allow it to your friends. Fine. Let's be friends,' Jason chokes on his own exhausted sigh. 'Do you need some friendship questionnaires to fill to be my friend? I can arrange that.'

Jason kindly flips him off under his breath before disappearing in the night, leaving him alone with whining Nightwing and irritated Bruce in his ear.

The next time he stalks down Jason, who in turn is stalking Damian and Bruce, he shoves in his hand twenty three papers filled with bunch of friendship questions — half stripped from internet, half made by Tim that involve the specifics of their jobs.

He doesn't expect anything to come after it, but in two weeks after Jason returns to the city after his mission with Outlaws, Tim finds these papers filled with surprisingly neat, calligraphic answers.

And he gets the printed copy of the same questions, with one page of an additional one, written in the same handwriting, and with a little sticky note atop of it.
