Okay, okay, okay, I can do this
Hi!! :3 I finally put up some courage to say how MUCH I adore your art! I'm not good with fancy words, but I do love your style and the colors, and everything! The lineart, oh my stars, HOW does it look so good?!?! If I tried the same I would make some messy thing, but your hand does WONDERS with the lineart and I'm looking at it with heart eyes. Coloring is just *chief's kiss*, like, it's bright, but not screaming from the screen. It does look fancy, adding to Biggerler's character (I love how you write him too ofc). And HIS EXPRESSIONS!! It's really, really great, you're amazing at portraying emotions! YOU'RE AMAZING IN GENERAL!!! I wish a ton of inspiration to you, thank you so much for your art!!🩷

STEFIIIIhow are you so amazing at writing… do you have any tips do you read poetry do you gain inspiration from any books ?
AGH i just look up to you a lot love you
Tumblr media
First of all, AAAAAAAAAAAA.
Second, I'm putting this under a read more bc it's gotten pretty long.
I don't really have tips I guess, I write what I feel and what I want. Fanfic made me realize that I don't have to make the next Lord Of The Rings or something, it freed me, and that gave me a boost I needed I guess, to try and write after years of writer's block. (I haven't read a real book in like 2 years, sue me.)
I used to write in Hungarian, and I guess I had a consistent style, and I tried to do something similar with the limitations of my English knowledge, and it somehow, after a time, worked.
I adored Hungarian (love) poetry in high school (and I still do), I took extra classes in literature bc I enjoyed it so much. That shaped my writing a great deal, and then the uni classes I attended did too. I had art history lessons about the symbolism in art, about contemporary artists and design, about aesthetics and philosophy.
Also, my first language is very rich in images, we have phrases that you can say in English with only one short word, but in Hungarian it takes a whole sentence. We use metaphors and symbols a lot even in every day conversations.
So I guess I have a pretty colorful background when it comes to art, and I weave them into my stories, mostly unconsciously.
I'm a graphic designer, I always think in images and symbols, I often imagine the scenes I write as series of illustrations. My emotions are very strong about love and touch and intimacy, too, and it bleeds into everything I make, be it art or writing.
I like to think about how something feels—like how laughter makes your belly ache and your throat hurt; and I like to combine that with something entirely different, maybe with the image of tar dripping down a wall. That is sticky too, slow, like that cough you try to get out while stifling a giggle. So, yeah.
I guess the only advice I can give is that make what you want, what you feel, and what makes you feel. Good art always makes you feel something. It should.  If you feel sad, write it out. If you want to punch someone, write it out. (If you feel horny write that too, that's what I'm doing most of the time.) Life is too boring (at least for me) to keep thinking so simply.
Thank you sooo much for this lovely message, love you! 🥺❤️❤️❤️

miki-13 reblogged your photo and added:
Okay wow, they all look friggin’ amazing! Agh, I’ve already got so much I wanna draw and now you’ve added yet another picture I want to put on paper! @lythecreatorart’s looks so pretty in pink and it goes well with the black and white and brownish-orange, @che1sea-xiao-long’ looks so demure and lovely with the light green and orange and of course, @littlemisssquiggles‘ looks absolutely stunning in red.
I find it interesting you gave Ruby white as her main color scheme with some red on the side, as opposed to Rose who is in all red. It reminds me a bit of Utena, who used the white rose and was represented by white, as a color of purity. Which fits in with her being a simple soul and Blake’s description of her character (”Purity”)
It’s also interesting that you gave Ianthe a darker color scheme with this one. I’ve never pictured her in black or darker colors, but now I see she pulls it off quite well. (Oh my gosh, you made her so tiny and smol XD)
By the way, how did you figure out the dresses for everyone here? I’m curious of your thought process for them.
Squiggles Answers:
@miki-13 Thank you so much Miki-chan!
My thought process into the dress designs? Oh gee, not sure I have much to say on that but I shall do my best *salutes*
Well if I must admit off the bat, I went into this squiggle sketch work already knowing the type of dresses I wanted the first three Roses: Rosaline ‘Rose’ Fox, Ruby Rose and Rosalind ‘Lindy’ Fox to wear. With Ianthe Regem and Rosaline ‘Hoody’ Hood, I sought out the almighty power of Pinterest to aid with inspiration for their gown designs.
Tumblr media
Let’s start with Ruby Rose: our leading Rose. Actually I’ll have to correct you, Ruby isn’t wearing white. Her dress is actually silver with just a pop of red. As I was telling Ly, I knew I wanted Ruby to wear silver instead of her more traditionally red outfits. Silver is another signature colour associated with Ruby that we don’t often get to see her rock so I figured why not give her a nice silvery lace dress made with a glittery material that made Ruby appear as if she’s dressed in starlight. I know you can’t really see here since these were more meant to be sketch concepts but you get the idea. Plus my main reason for having Ruby wear silver is based on a Rosegardening headcanon of mine where Oscar thinks Ruby looks more beautiful in silver since it matches her eyes. Again, red may be Ruby’s main colour however should she ever step out in a silver dress, I think she’ll turn heads. Especially Oscar’s. Buuuuut that’s just my idea XD
Next is my girl Rosaline Fox: As I mentioned in ‘Defining Rose Fox’, Rose is known for her beauty. Rose is a gorgeous and vivacious vixen who is fully confident in her looks. So I knew for a definite fact that I wanted her to rock a dress that shows off her splendour in a striking colour that would make her the apple of every man’s eyes.
For Rose’s gown, I actually drew inspiration for the style from Jessica Rabbit from ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit’. When I think memorable lovely characters, Jessica Rabbit was the first one that popped to my mind.
Tumblr media
So Rose’s gown is influenced by Jessica’s from the slit that’s supposed to be up the side (pardon my sketch for not illustrating that better) to the open back to the gloves even down to her dress having a kind of shine to it. As a matter of fact, this is a cohesive characteristic that I decided to share with all the other Roses. So technically each Rose has one part of their dress that is glittery. Each Rose also wears a rose detail to their outfits, be it an accessory or detail of their dress. Like in the case of Rose where the single strap of her dress in an array of roses along with the belt around her waist. Not to mention the frills of Rose’s dress as supposed to represent rose petals.
Rosalind Fox: For Lindy, I’m not sure what type of personality @che1sea-xiao-long has in mind for her Rose but for me, I pictured her being the very sweet and gentle-hearted type. So I gave a dress to reflect that appeal. With Lindy, her green hood was one of the most signature parts of her design so I gave her this sort of green shawl to mimic that detail from her huntress attire. Everything else about her dress just fell fittingly into place. I knew I wanted the end of her dress and shawl to be decorated with orange roses since I dubbed her the orange rose (will explain that later). If I’m being honest, I just rolled with the first ideas that popped into my head with the rest of Rosalind’s dress and the end result just turned into a cute gown that I think suits her. I think it even got the Chelsea seal of approval.
Ianthe Regem: Yes, this is where things got a bit tough for me. With Ianthe, I wanted something cute but somewhat regal for her; if that makes sense. However I wasn’t sure the style I wanted to go with for her. This is where I sought good old Pinterest and found this really nice art of an anime girl wearing a dress that I thought would look lovely on Ianthe. Artist is Tobi Kotetsu
Tumblr media
So I based Ianthe’s outfit off of that design. I figured a style like that would look adorable on her and my assumptions seemed to be proven right with your reaction to the look. Mind you, this is only a sketch. I may change this design later to maintain my original ‘regal’ style for Ianthe’s gown. But we shall see.
Lastly we have Rosaline Hood: She was the other Rose I needed a little help designing for. Ironically the two roses I went in blind to design ended up being the ones to rock black as part of their attire. Not intentional but it works. With Hoody, I also drew inspiration from Pinterest for the style of her dress. I found this really nice design for a dress with same kind of frills that sort of drape down from the torso like rose petals.
It reminded me of the way Ly designed Hoody’s huntsmen attire so I figured, why not add that detail to her ball gown. She certainly looks lovely with it. As for making her rock pink. Well as I told Ly, making Hoody the pink rose in the bouquet was a bold choice based on a whim. I understand that there were other rose colours that I could’ve used for her. I considered making her a peach rose. However the instance I slapped that hot pink on her dress, that was it. That won me. It looked absolutely gorgeous on her especially with the black. Not sure if Hoody is the type to wear pink but she looks lovely in it. Plus according to Ly, Hoody’s dress reminds her of her prom dress which makes my  choice even more perfect.
So yeah, that was pretty much my thought process behind all. As I was telling @lythecreatorart and let me tag @che1sea-xiao-long in here as well, these were mostly just rough sketches of dress designs for a potential project I’m considering of doing with all the Roses including Ruby when I get the time to spare.
I called it ‘Bouquet of Roses’ and the gist of it is, Oscar Pine is basically our handsome Yellow or more fittingly Gold Rose Prince with eyes as radiant as the sun and a kind and benevolent heart to match. Prince Oscar owns a bouquet comprised of an arrangement of roses of different colours. The key roses are red, lavender, orange and pink roses and it is those roses that are represented by our Garden of Roses.
Ruby Rose and Rose Fox are our two red roses locked in a rivalry for the Prince’s affection to be his one true red rose (although Ruby could arguably be more of a white rose with her silver dress which could be used to symbolize her purity of heart as you pointed out. Not to mention that it’s a way to connect her to her mother Summer who was the original white rose). Rosaline Hood is the pink rose. Rosalind Fox is the orange rose and lastly Ianthe Regem is the lavender rose.
Seeing you and Ly create such great illustrations with the whole Garden squad has inspired me to do my own lil pet project to draw all the Roses together in my style. It’s also meant to be my shameless excuse to draw Oscar as a fairy-tale prince with Ruby featuring Team FRHR and everyone gets to wear dresses. That was the idea.

I’m so excited to share with you a bridesmaid experience from my dear friend Beth. She is a total sweetheart and great friend, as you’ll find out yourself throughout this post. When she told me about her friend’s 1920s wedding theme, I wanted every single detail. It took a little bit to compile, but the wait is finally over. I hope you enjoy hearing about her experience and seeing the amazing details that made up this extraordinary wedding day.
Beth the Bridesmaid
My name is Beth Jarrell. I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. I graduated from Geneva College, which is where I met the lovely bride Megan I will be talking more about in this interview. I’ve had the honor of being a bridesmaid twice now. The first wedding I was a bridesmaid for my cousin Steph when I was 19 years old. The second wedding was with Megan when I was 27.
On Meeting the Bride
I met the bride Megan in college at a football game where we were talking about how cute this one football player (Brad) was. Turns out she actually ended up marrying the football player we were talking about.
What is so funny to me is Megan was the goth type. I never in a million years would have thought she would go for a football type. Obviously I was so wrong. They are wonderful together. Their personalities are different, but they balance each other out in such a beautiful way.
Beth and Megan’s Friendship
My friendship with Megan really took off after the football game and we became like sisters. She would sleep in my dorm room a lot and we’d stay up having long talks. We were roommates during our Junior and Senior year of college, and spent most weekends together. We would go camping, take day trips, and go to concerts together. Also Megan LOVES breakfast. No matter how late in college she’d stayed up the night before, she was always so excited and begging me to go to breakfast.
She really has a zeal for life. She can get anyone excited about anything. That has always been one of my favorite things about her.
Will You Be My Bridesmaid?
It was very apparent to me and my husband Bryan that they would end up getting married. They had come to visit us after we moved out of state and started asking me and Bryan about what it’s like to be married. I told my husband, “It’s only a matter of time before he proposes.” Finally one night, not too long after, I got a phone call from Megan telling me that Brad had proposed to her. She was elated and asked me to be a bridesmaid. This is still one of my favorite phone calls I have ever received.
The Bridesmaids
There were 7 other bridesmaids besides me. It was the perfect amount because there were plenty of people to split the responsibilities with. Plus everyone had a wide range of talents. Some ladies were good at arts and craft stuff, some were detail oriented when it came to planning, and others were good for emotional support. All the different personalities really came together to make the wedding events better.
I think for the most part the bridesmaids got along. We communicated through emails mainly, which gets kind of confusing with that many people. So there were a few issues from time to time. But I feel like I really got to know some awesome ladies who really truly care about the bride.
Everyone wanted her wedding day to be everything she ever hoped it would be. This was no small task because Megan is a very creative and artistic person. Her idea for her wedding was detailed and very involved.
Having so many great bridesmaids who were willing to go the extra mile helped the bride accomplish this beautiful 1920s wedding theme. I really enjoyed all of my time with these ladies throughout planning. They were awesome and I definitely cannot wait to see them again. So yes, I made some new besties for sure!
The Cost of Being a Bridesmaid
I think Megan made it totally affordable to be in her wedding! I paid:
$148 for a 1920’s style dress. $30 for tan wedge shoes from TJMax. $30 for pearl earrings and a necklace from Target. $150 for the shower/ bachelorette. $40 for bachelorette fun stuff for the bride. $35 shower gift – beer glasses listed on their registry and beer. $50 for a a wedding gift – His and Her basket full of things for their honeymoon/ married life together.
$483 Total
Bridesmaid Dress Experience
I adored my bridesmaids dress. The bride was super chill about our look, even advising us to wear comfortable shoes since it was an outdoor wedding. She let us pick out our own dress style as long as it was pink, beige, or a creamy champagne color. It was nice to be able to pick out a dress that would be flattering on all of us. I am still amazed that she was able to bring to reality her dream of creating such a beautiful 1920s wedding.
Bridal Shower on a Budget
We were going to do the wedding at a winery but they were ridiculously expensive. They wanted us to buy a bottle of wine for every so many people and we knew we couldn’t afford that. So we ended up having it at someone’s house, doing all the cooking (some in advance), set up, tear down, and decorating ourselves. This is the best way to save money.
I say DIY shower all the way. Making sure the entire bridal party helped, split costs, and worked on it was key too.
Each bridesmaid paid $100 and that was all the money needed for the shower. There was even some money left over, so we put it towards the bachelorette party.
Bridal Shower Theme, Decor, and Games
The bridal shower was a high tea theme. It was absolutely gorgeous. We used real China place settings and teacups for every guest, as well as gold silverware. Decor included more teacups and lace tablecloths.
For food we had mini sandwiches and cookies in the shape of tea bags. Then there were these adorable calendar cookies that doubled as save the dates made by one of the bridesmaid’s mother. We even made all the favors by putting loose leaf tea in tins that had marriage related sayings on them.
The first game we played was Bride and Groom Mad Libs. You fill in the words and the bride gets to keep the papers with guests answers as a keepsake. Another game we played involved asking the bride questions and she had to guess what the groom would say. Brad had been filmed answering them ahead of time. It was fun to see if their answers matched.
The Blending of Two Families
The bride was absolutely shocked at how beautifully the shower turned out. She saw everything and started crying because she was so happy. She said it was everything she ever dreamed it would be. The guests all commented on how wonderful the decorations were, and they loved the food.
Before we ate the groom’s mother welcomed everyone to the shower and talked about how excited she was that Megan and Brad were getting married. She spoke about how she loved Megan and already felt as if she were family. It was a very meaningful and special moment for the bride and groom’s family/friends to be part of. Many tears were shed.
It was a great day where all of the bridesmaids, the MOB, and the MOG came together to celebrate Megan and Brad’s wedding. It was in this moment that we all knew the wedding was going to be such a wonderful day.
The Bachelorette Party
We started at the bride’s apartment, decorating it in a gold new age theme. We gave her a sash that we all wrote little notes on for her to wear, had some champagne, and then took the bride to dinner at a place she had been dying to try. It was actually an old funeral home changed into an American food restaurant.
Then we went back to the bride’s apartment for dessert and more drinks. We headed back out and went to a dance club that was playing 80’s dance music. After that we had a sleepover at the bride’s apartment, woke up, cooked her brunch, and then helped with wedding stuff.
Getting Crafty for the 1920s Wedding
Megan had the idea of a 1920s wedding in her mind. She had all of the decorations mapped out in her mind, but really needed a lot of extra hands to create those decorations. She sent out an email in January with a list of things she needed help with and had a few days where the bridesmaids came together to help her.
In one of her emails you can see her excitement as she said to us:
“What whaaaat! 4 months to go as of today! I am literally dying on the inside! I’m torn between being so excited to see you all and celebrate aka wanting the wedding to be TODAY and then wishing I had 4 MORE months to get all of the tasks finished! Agh!”
To her credit, Megan spent a lot of time going to yard sales to find the dishes for serving, center pieces, and other decorations. So we did what we could to help her stay on task. Everything from the invites, to the cup cake toppers, to the placecards and favors were handmade mainly by the bride and her bridesmaids. It was a really beautiful wedding.
Beth’s Favorite Wedding Moments
I may be a little biased since my husband was the pastor, but it really was the perfect ceremony. It was  also one of the most well thought out weddings I have been to. Not only was the decor absolutely stunning, the food was delicious, and the venue of the family camp was absolutely breathtaking. It was a very personal and intimate environment for the guests that were there.
We all had so much fun with the photo booth set up with 1920s props. I loved the the cookie and coffee bar, as well as the wine and beer bar. This wedding had tons of dancing, and towards the end of the evening some break dancing even took place. A year later I am still thinking about how great this wedding was. The love that the bride and groom had for each other and their friends/family was apparent that day. A year later it still shines through.
Being a bridesmaid is more than just being in someone’s wedding. It is a pure honor and a deepening of friendship. I was overjoyed to stand beside Megan and support her on one of the best and most important days of her life.
We couldn’t agree more Beth. Thank you for sharing your experience with us.
Special thanks to Sarah J Dixon Photography for allowing us to use the wedding day photos.
What do you think about Beth’s bridesmaid experience? Share with us in the comments.

hi, I wanted to start with saying that I adore your art. It's honestly so unique and wonderful :). So I have a question and i don't know if you've answered it before (could be possible haha) but do you have any advice on how to start an art blog and/or how to kind of get into some sort of 'art community'. I'm thinking about starting an art blog so any advice would be appreciated. hugs and kisses x
First of all- aGH thank you so so much, please tell me when you start one I’d love to see your art!! Also it’s so cool that you’d actually want my advice?! I’m gonna write a list cause I feel like I’ve learned a lot in my 3 years with an art blog!1.) make a username that isn’t really long or difficult to remember, it doesn’t have to be like the perfect username ever (tiny-gorilla is such a dumb username) but you want it to be something people can remember so they recognize you and can come back to your blog2.) have a distinct style. Obviously you don’t need this at first, I started this blog to test out different styles and document them so I could go back into my old artwork and see what I liked and didn’t, but keep in mind that having a distinct style helps and will probably make more people stick around3.) be nice! You seem like a super sweet person so this probably isn’t necessary, but don’t act like you’re more famous than you are. I hate when artists get really kind people messaging them and they completely blow them off or don’t even say thank you- try and be nice4.) draw a lot of fan art. Obviously if this isn’t what makes you happy don’t do that, this blog is for you but if you are really into different fandoms and that’s what you enjoy, you’ll get a lot more attention that way and can eventually branch off and do more of your own thing5.) reach out to other artists!! When an artist comments on your work, go check out theirs and comment back. If you see an artist you like reblog their things and tell them what you like. Also- don’t be inconsistent, you can’t act like your someone’s friend until they start supporting you and then just stop supporting them, if you want to keep friends come back to their blog and show your support6.) post as much as you can- don’t only post really shitty drawings with no work put in, but feel free to post all your sketches, doodles, finished works, and process videos to your blog (as long as you don’t spam, haha) the more cool stuff your posting the more people will be drawn to your blog7.) reply to people- if someone comments on your work reply or message them, take as many suggestions as you can8.) have something that’s yours. For example, I draw a lot of vitiligo Hermione and I don’t change up my ships a lot. This will make your followers want to stick around + will make them able to recognize your work9.) don’t let people use you! If someone doesn’t support your account at all and then asks you to draw their face- don’t do it!! It’s a different situation if there’s someone nice who supports you and is really sweet, but otherwise they’re kind of a jerk. It’s not right of them to expect you to do something that only they will enjoy, that won’t help your blog, and that won’t help you improve as an artist.
I hope this was helpful! If you have any other questions PLEASE feel free to ask, I enjoy answering!!
