where did you get your inspiration for all the creatures in your most recent gravity falls fic? obviously some of them are from the show, but did you take some from mythology or just come up with them yourself?

To be honest I just try to think of something that might be interesting and also draw from other media. The long haired woman for example was inspired by a similar storyline from the anime Natsume's book of friends (which is an amazing show which I can only recommend, like that is my number one comfort show, seriously). In the show she wasn't so nice and it was a doll that she lost and that got really dirty and natsume, the protagonist, had to find and tidy it up so she would stop haunting him. From there in my head it kind of evolved into a brush which Stan had to repair and I thought "I'll just let him buy a new one lol"

Other than that I usually just google stuff when I have a general idea what I want I look up if there is a mythical creature that comes close to that

I'm honestly not very good with making up stuff like that but we'll see how it evolves for the rest of the story

The take about Jiang cheng and the dogs thing was kinda strange to me. Unfortunately, children don't regulate their emotions very well. When their feelings get overwhelming, they don't act with compassion or empathy, they react to the immediate situation, especially when a new sibling is involved. It's pretty common for a kid to feel forgotten or unloved when a new sibling comes along, and when you're at that age, anger is a common reaction to things like that. I don't think him being mad about losing his dogs and then kicking Wuxian out shows sociopathy or even just a lack of empathy toward Wuxian specifically. It's just being a kid, especially being a kid who's gotten to have the attention suddenly being left out of the attention (or at least feeling that way) when a new sibling comes along.

In Jiang Cheng's case it is more like, even before Wei Wuxian arrived, he felt he was unloved, and didn't have he attention onto him (great parenting madam yu and jfm!); and of course, you are right. Being childish at an age where you are, well, a child is no issue. It's endearing.

But what I also wish to restate is that Jiang Cheng was already eight or nine years old. I do feel "empathy" is something natural to people; yet the point still isn't about what he did when he was 8 or 9 years old.

The post I'd targeted said something like Jiang Cheng "gave and gave" and Wei Wuxian "took and took." Him acting like a child would, at the age of 8 or 9, isn't a big deal. But I wished to draw more attention to the detail that his current actions (whether it be 36 years old, or 20 years old) were still similar to the actions of his younger self!

I don't wish to condemn him for being an average child; people change a lot when they grow up, but in his case, the tragedy is that he didn't.

He has never encouraged Wei Wuxian's interactions with anyone other than himself; if someone praises him, or gives him attention, he finds it an insult to his own self; he uses his fears against Wei Wuxian; instead of taking responsibility he shirks it off, letting Wei Wuxian hide the truth (about just WHAT the Wens had done for them) and bear his debts, and keep his name clear. When Wei Wuxian acts on his own he thinks it was a personal offense to him.

That's why I found that scene important - Jiang Yanli tries to catch Wei Ying but fails and he gets injured anyways (like when she had him come for JL's 100th day but he got ambushed); she tries to maintain a peace between the two and this "pact" grows thinner and thinner and completely snaps after she's gone.

Similarly, even after his death, Wei Wuxian doesn't tell Lan Wangji why he climbed that tree though he remembers. He thinks Madam Yu wasn't that cruel. The only growth he has is that this time, instead of asking to be let in, he leaves on his own, exhausting his patience.

But Jiang Cheng? Jiang Cheng felt bitter, unloved, stuck in his own misery, thinking his parents loved Wei Wuxian more than him, scaring him with dogs, fearing the repurcussions. But now? His parents are long dead. Wei Wuxian died for 13 years. Yet, he hasn't changed at all.

That's the point I wanted to make by using the parallels of that childhood event. Having no space for empathy at that age wasn't "wrong" but it's the fact he never gains it throughout his life.

Honestly, I must say it's a bit surprising that out of all the things I said in that post, this stood out to you. But if it is genuine concern, then that is all well ^^

38 - I want an offline single player game that comes on a cartridge or a disc. No I don’t want a subscription or a digital game that’ll no longer be downloadable after 10 years as the ‘store’ gets deactivated and the digital-only console is an expensive brick. Actually I wonder who considers this opinion that unpopular - perhaps not the players, certainly the companies 😛

Athough he values traditions and customs, Erwin isn't as traditionalistic as people think:

It's me, I'm people AHAHAH I do think that Erwin is a traditional man and LET'S BE REAL and consider that all canon events take place in a WWII kind of era, so if we really want to be canon, consider that he's a military commander in the 1940s-1950s. What we call now traditional was modern for them back then lmaooo and because I have a smalllll fixation with those decades (cuz I've been writing an original book with an erwinlike character that takes place in the 50s) a military man in WWII who used to fight nazis for breakfast would be a man that we would totally call traditional today.

Traditional meaning that he'll be the one to provide for you, he'll work day and night, he'll be bringing you flowers and chocolate boxes whenever you're having an anniversary. He's a soft dom (or rough if you ask him to lmao) BASICALLY he's 100% a dom, TO SUM IT UP he is everything your grandpa/great-grandpa was in his prime I guess.

BUT if we're talking about modern AU erwin, then yes, I will agree. Modern!AU Erwin is not as traditionalistic as most would think he is. Such traits and mindsets are vastly dependent on where and when someone was born ofc.

But I DO think that he's a bookworm??? In every scene we have of him in snk he's in his office surrounded by hundreds of books LMAO if that ain't a nerd right there, idek what is. I BET in modern AU he'd be wearing glasses too.

Erwin never cries or gets emotional:

NOT in front of others. And even when he does breakdown, it's very, very, VERY rare. He does have the 'im a big strong man and big strong men are not allowed to cry' ego. He IS harsh on himself but most of the time he's trying to ignore all the burdens and guilt and regret that befalls him that eventually pile up and he's breaking down and crying, but EVEN THAT is silent and quiet.

I imagine him TOTALLY ALONE with his back against one of his many bookcases, seated on the floor, messy hair, wrinkly shirt, unshaved face, a total mess, crying silently cuz every time he closes his eyes all he sees are friends that he's the one who's sent them to their deaths.

Listen, canon!Erwin suffers probably more than most characters in snk (actually no everybody suffers in snk but you know what I mean ok?) he does act like the big strong commander with a resolve of steel BUT HE IS HUMAN and he DOES breakdown however silent it is.

There's lots of shit that comes with the position he has. No one could have ever dealt with all of this better than him, but he still breaks in the late hours of the night when no one is there to visit him and see him in a state that he doesn't want anyone to see him in.

Hi, anon! Sure, you can ask. I love asks. It's fun to think about MDZS .

Wei Wuxian:

Strength: I think his most important strength is his ingenuity, like this guy will use all that is near and available to him, to serve his purpose. He's really flexible, and can adapt easily, even his manner of speaking varies greatly; when he's angry, it becomes so cold and formal, yet, he can speak so cutely as well. There's this line in the book - "if he were poor, he could sleep under a tree. If he were rich, he could sleep in a mansion." He's so dauntless and I love that. Another major strength of his is his true empathy; even in the pits of hell, he made friends with the ghosts. The scene where he kisses the skeletal arm? Amazing. There are so many more strengths honestly; the way he is confident about his abilities, the way he will do the right thing even knowing that he would not be rewarded or thanked; he doesn't force debts onto others for his offered kindness; doesn't hold resentment; forgives the wrongs against him and is really, really smart.

Weakness: too good for this world. Joking. But I do think all of his weaknesses come from being a gem among the hay - too righteous, too kind, too good, unable to abandon those he cares about, willing to shoulder all sorts of burdens and some assholes just keep on adding more. not the type to complain or talk about his true feelings; too dismissive of his own emotions; moves on with the next thing a little too quickly; if he doesn't want to face something, HE WILL FORGET IT. He plays off so much shit; there are layers to his narration. You need to look really closely to find out what really hurts him or how he feels. He's like a damn butterfly fluttering around the main essence of things when it is about his feelings, his thoughts etc.

Lan Wangji:

Strength: His own righteousness and moral code that makes him take punishment even when it's not his fault; that makes him injure 33 clan elders and return later for punishment, that makes him traverse the world for 10 years, helping every minor cause. Even Wei Wuxian is bored on their 'going where the chaos is' (but of course, he will go). He is also the same, wishing to just stand by Wei Wuxian. He doesn't need a relationship, doesn't need thanks or apologies. Secondly, his dependability - he has honed his skills to a level of near-perfection, whether it be the art of the sword, cultivation, calligraphy, sex, etc - a very methodical approach. Also, his true empathy; how he is so soft at heart, like a young boy. Pure-hearted, wielding his sword with mercy. So, he's able to empathize with people and understand each of their circumstances while still making the righteous and most reasonable calls. One of his major strengths is also in his attitude towards things. He doesn't get worked up when people insult him (Wen Chao scolding him during Qishan Wen Indoctrination after the Wen burnt his clan and yet, he still didn't respond to the provocations.) He keeps his mind especially calm, and open, and doesn't draw conclusions until there is valid evidence (the only person who makes him lose his cool is WWX.)

Weaknesses: Suppresses his desires, wants and humane needs a lot; struggles to communicate what he truly wishes to say; stubborn to no end, unrelenting; unable to handle much teasing, mutilated trees and kicks rocks, struggles sharing his thoughts or doesn't wish to share them lmao.

Does bianca live with Cartoon cat?

Yes she does, they cohabit in his rickety, creepy, abandoned mall in the middle of the woods, that sometimes just randomly changes locations depending on Cartoon Cat's whims. It's way bigger on the inside, but that too, and the layout of the building itself, depends on Cartoon Cat's current vision. Everything pretty much depends on Cartoon Cat.

It's not necessarily bad living conditions. Most often the mall is fully or partially furnished, so Bianca can find clothes, entertainment, furniture, commodities, and occasionally food, though she gets claustrophobic and makes a point to make her 'groceries' someplace else from time to time. The water and electricity can be an issue and there is no shower, but the good ol' strategy of "messing with shit until it works" never failed a Toon. She manages. And Cartoon Cat only needs fresh meat & entertainment.

Although according to Cartoon Cat, if Bianca just stopped to worry about human necessities she would find Toon Life a heck of a lot easier.

Have you considered opening commissions?

Funnily enough I’m always open for commissions - I just never really spread this information to begin with.

Reason for that’s A I’m a very lazy person lol - I only draw when I’m in the mood or interested, so asking me for a commission’s like a gacha - either you get your finished picture in a few days…or only a sketch in weeks or months - it’s never really a guarantee since life loves to screw me over apparently which slows this process even further sometimes.

B I don’t take money before I finished the job - so it’s another gamble whenever you actually get your picture or not, since there are no obligations from my part.

And C people usually want the most effort for like pocket change….which’s ridiculous by the way lol so I didn’t got much customers in the past (despite being not that pricy like other people)

All this factors made me decide to not offer my service openly like before.

So yeah if you are interested, just ask me I guess -shrug- we will see what I may can do for you then. :P

I'm not technically finished with this book, but I did read some of it this year... That counts, right? ^.^ And it was the book that I liked the most of the few that I read this year. I found the reading challenging but the story was fun, and I am reading it in English too.
