i finished riverstars home! here are my thoughts on it: WARNING THERE ARE SPOILERS THIS IS VERY MUCH NOT SPOILER FREE LOL !!!! WARNING WARNING YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!! for those who want my opinion but don't want spoilers: it was VERY good, with the only Odd thing being the pacing at some times! i really really liked it, and riverstar was great! if you are interested in him or dotc i would recommend reading it!!! <3

Very good book . Very good i enjoyed it greatly. the ONLY complaint i have really is that the pacing was a bit awkward at certain times and riverstar and finch's relationship came TOTALLY out of nowhere which really threw me off (they're cute though) but OTHERWISE it. was great. i LOVED riverstar the entire book, and all of the new characters are really fun, even if not all of them were particularly...??? fleshed out?? if that makes sense lol! i LOVED shattered ice, dappled pelt and drizzle, they were all SO CUTE and SO PERFECT!!! night and mist were REALLY interesting with night's repeated mention of her old mate & kits and their dynamic with eachother just in general! i'm also glad that riverstar and night didn't become mates because to me they have much more of a older sister/younger brother vibe which i like much more! i REALLY liked kite wing, cleo and casper were fun, and whistle was really cute & interesting! i like all of the new characters tbh, those guys were just ones i rlly liked hehe flutter appearing when riverstar got his 9 lives made me cry. badly. it was SO CUTE oh my god. 4th time i've ever cried during a warrior cats book! (others were bristlefrosts, yellowfangs and briarlight's deaths lol)!!! riverstar was so just. broken. to find out she was dead, him trying to refuse the life and deny that she's dead. GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!! iiiii am a broken woman arc was GREAT and i'm super glad the cats of the park god a little bit of screentime (readingtime? booktime?)!! arc is so like, mysterious & mystical i love him LOL though i wish the book didnt take place right when the park got destroyed! i wish we got a LITTLE bit of time with them, and it mightve even been cool to get more of riverstar when he was younger, but whatevs! and with the other clans & other rouge groups & whatnot they. sure existed! idk i didnt reaaallly care for any of the interactions they had with riverstar Except for the various times when riverstar interacted with grey wing. those were pretty cute :''] i actually like that they kinda brought back slash at the end! i think its nice when villains are reused instead of new ones being made x{ plus it makes sense! duh slash would go find another gang to go terrorize after the clans kicked him out XD and lastly. finch and riverstar. were... good! i do like them! i do like finch as well! she's pretty cool, and strong, and not suuuuper generic? like shes not the MOST interesting character on the planet but she's not bland cardboard or anything!!! which was awesome! i guess it was just the pacing of her and riverstars relationship that messed me up LOL! they were talking like they were lovers for MOONS when riverstar was only there for like, a little more than half a moon X'D also the kits were really surprising too, but whatever, i think they're cute! i was surprised that riverstar got a Mate and Children at all but ! seeing how caring he is and how he acts to like Every Other Character with the exception of the villains it does make sense lol! alright thats it!!! overall a good book, and riverstar was great ! i would recommend reading it !

OH ALRIGHT LET ME RAMBLE SOME MORE im putting it under the cut because its borderline incomprehensible (the fuck is grammar) and is really long lol (im so sorry im writing this and it quickly turned into me rambling about a fanfic idea that takes the fractured idea to an extreme lmao)

tbh this has kinda grown more into a sorta like??? au thing for me but still so Basically the exact idea on how it happened i had was like. what if after he "died" (tbh more akin to abandoning his body than actual death in this hc/au/thing) he tried to put a small amount of himself into the bed so it could protect delilah while he does his whole you know atoning thing (what Exactly that entails im not sure tbh but definitely something to do with the backyard because thats what it always has to do with) and did a fucky wucky and ended up putting most of his memories and will into the bedframe what this means in a less messy and unintelligible way is that now theres one romeo whos in the bed thats currently out there basically being a case of "i have no mouth and i must scream" while the other is vibing in the backyard with a list of names as well as ludicrous amounts of knowledge about magic and such that hes not sure why he remembers and basically no other memories of note (maybe some guilt too but im on the fence about that one) the main idea i had for a "plot" ig is that this romeo somehow comes into contact with delilah and the bed (that kinda remembers what happened but has no means of communicating it and is nowhere near as powerful as he used to be also is incredibly angry) then angst ensues (i like coming up with ideas im not good at actually communicating them lmao)

also tbh i didnt? think too much about the parallels between him and jacko but thats legit a cool idea to run with too i was personally taking more inspiration from what happened with ino (yes i know she wasnt really fractured per se more like she just had 2 things purposely ripped from her by someone else so she wouldnt become god but shh i didnt realize that when i first started thinking about this) but the jacko/aria parallel makes so much more sense im gonna need to do more research on what exactly happened in that whole situation again because its been a hot minute and might help flesh this idea out more lol

another thing id like to add is that this whole idea is basically just a monkeys paw situation for him in a way (yeah his sister is awake and hes technically there with her but haha the part of you that actually remembers her cant communicate with her and the other part is an asshole (affectionate) who has no memories of her get fucked nerd/j)

fun fact! soleil’s main design hadn’t received an actual redesign since she was first created in 2021! while i changed super minor details along the way (bc i refuse to look at my own ocs references) he stayed fundamentally the same up until now! This still has many details from their og design but I simply gave it more character, I think! I’m frankly really happy with it ^_^

One issue I had with Soleil’s initial design was that it was supposed to look a little weird. Like something your avg person wouldn’t wear 24/7. I couldn’t have her change outfits bc by the lore another weird thing he does is simply never change clothes. Their old design SURE was something your avg person wouldn’t wear everyday it was still lacking that ,, weirdness factor I think? It was really clean. I wanted her to look both organic and alive yet not exactly in a way that makes sense? Something graceful yet also just. flesh. Sol is cool bc. I associate her heavily with a lot of meat and flesh but she isn’t even flesh and bone herself. N that plays into the weirdness of it all too? I think. Its 1 am right now sorry if this is very badly worded LMAO Sol also acts as a good parallel to AZIMUTH actually in this design ideology bc . hes also supposed to look out of place and odd. But he looks out of place in a polished-almost out of your computer screen kind of way. Hes colorful (and he actually changes clothes very frequently. Too Frequently.) N thats a well contrast to sol.. I think.. Fun. Very Fun. Anyways yeah back to sol. Sols hair started out fairly tame but along the refusing to use references the art telephone game tm with myself it became very sharp and pointy and just. messy. and thats just not what i think he should look like ?!?! So i fixed up his hair. The tiptoeing thing was jist sumn that came to me while i was sketching N i was like OH this is it! That will add to the Weirdness Factor or something. I’ve walked on my tiptoes basically all my life n ppl always made huge of a deal out of it so ik from experience people notice it n perceive it as. odd behavior 🤧 I was thinking of mayb going for an anatomically correct heart silhouette or something but. Im very attached to soleils generally Very Symmetrical silhouette i didnt wanna touch it much… I think i incorporated enough <3 hearts to make up for it though! OH AND. Downturned her eyes! Ive been not drawing characters with downturned eyes for a while . Unsure why it became less frequent of me to draw them. Figured they fit her so. I’m just gonna say that I think ur being a wee bit too harsh on remake 2 Leon with saying everything is his fault because a lot of it is timing and no one would know what to do in that moment.

With the gas station dude, the only thing Leon does wrong is distract the dude by calling out to him, the zombie is on top of the guy in a second after that and biting a chunk of flesh off of him— I think anyone would be frozen in shock in that moment.

Also with Ben, Leon has no idea if Ben is a criminal and why he’s even locked up in the first place— they only hear Mr. X for a moment before he busts through the wall and Leon can’t shoot without shooting Ben in the face too, you see Leon try to aim the gun or find another point to shoot but it’s too late by that point. Also Leon has no idea about Mr. X at this point and arguably, Ben has clearly been safer in his jail cell so far, so of course Leon hesitates to let someone who could potential be a dangerous criminal out on top of everything going on. I’m pretty sure him saying ‘I’ll have to ask chief irons’ was before they heard anything and the guy was just asking to be let out — also Im pretty sure it is him covering himself to get more time to figure out what to do with Ben or get my information of why Ben is in there in the first place. He’s in jail, someone who is a trained cop is gonna hesitate before opening up his cell.

Also another thing I just wanted add that Leon doesn’t trust Ada, it’s what he says to her at the end ‘I realized as much as I wanted to trust you I didn’t’ so obviously he regonize she was shady but what else was he going to do in that situation besides take her at her word, after the fact she showed him her badge and has knowledge about the situation. how is he gonna guess that she’s a super secret mercenary that’s using him to steal this secret virus to sell

While I get what you are trying to say, I don’t think saying he’s a complete idiot makes much sense when it’s just how, a normal person would react to things. In fact I think he did a bit better considering the circumstances. Just my two sense tho, def not attacking u or anything, just noticed ur post in the tag and wanted to add my perspective to it since I’ve been like, religiously playing that game rn 😭.

Leon was the everyman in RE2. He didn't have military experience like Chris and Jill -- and he wasn't raised a Redfield like Claire -- so he was never taught how to handle a legitimate combat situation. So, he did, for the most part, what a normal person would do in that situation. And that was the problem. It wasn't a normal situation, so reacting like a normal person ended with people dying.

Well. Actually no he doesn't get a pass on Ada, even still. Even if he didnt trust her completely, that bitch was in a tight dress and stilettos and Leon still looked at her and was like "yeah I mean I guess it could be possible that she's FBI." Like. No, dumbass. Stop thinking with your dick. You're not in a noir film.

The journey through Leon's character development was that he had to step outside of his normal bubble and into the actual literal nightmare that Raccoon City really was. He does eventually learn that lesson, but unfortunately, it's one that he learns too late. By the time he gets there, there's already a bodycount.

So in RE4make, he can't be that everyman anymore if his mission has any chance of succeeding. He has to be more than the everyman. He can't hesitate, he can't hope that things will work out okay. He has to own every single one of his decisions, the chances he takes have to be calculated, and he can't fall into the same well-meaning traps.

Leon can't be held to "normal people" standards. To do so erases the progression of his character arc. And he doesn't hold himself to those standards, either. He has to be better, because if he isn't, people will die. That was the lesson he had to learn.

When I criticize Leon for his flaws, I'm not hating on him or trying to be mean. His flaws create the conflict that fuels his story -- and that's what makes him a good character.

Within the context of the story itself, what would normally be seen as virtuous qualities in a person are actually the problem. And that's what makes him so sympathetic and compelling. You want to root for him because he's trying so hard to do the right thing, but him doing the right thing is what gets people killed.

I love him for that.

I saw someone say they HATE Kriselle (on pintrest of all places) and since I’m a multi-shipper AND a certified hater I’m dedicating this paragraph to be a meanie to that person specifically. They are THE childhood friends to lovers!! Noelle watches in abject horror as Kris puts every shape in the square hole. Kris shows off their blades and Noelle tells them blades are for skatin’ and calls them a dingus. Noelle chases after the knight and Kris screams “GIRLFRIEND, STOP, GET BACK IN THE CARRGRHG” while she goes “youuuu come back here” and tackles the knight to the ground, knocking the helmet off and revealing Berdly underneath. Just thought I’d let you all know!!

Ok but honestly I’ve been sooo obsessed with Catti and Ralsei interactions. I have a vivid image in my head of Kris setting ghoul up on a date with an alleged “Prince of the Dark” and then Catti sees this sweet fidgety guy in bright colors and flowy clothing and ghoul’s like “figures” and it PROBABLY doesn’t work out if we’re being realistic but I’m holding out hope!! I'm really sorry for just asssuming Tiadane to be a guy. On the other hand I love when fantasy worlds explore cultures that dont have the same understanding of gender as us. I feel it isnt done enough and where it is atempted its never done with the enough care.

Also when I said 'relationships' I didn't mean them as explicit romantic ones. I'm a big fan of interesting dynamics and I dont believe they always have to be romantic to get me interested. There are so many ways humans interact with one another. That is whats most facinating to me.

I cant even imagine the revisions i have to make one i finish first draft as ive completely given up ingraining the magic system as part of the characters perspective and how it effects their thing cause it was gettjng to complicated. When i was first materializing my story it was set in a normal world but my mund was like: no no no this story need a magic system and an exploration of the chosen one narrative even though back then it didnt have anything to do with the main plot. Originally the game was called 532, or 5.32, but thats not very catchy so we went with HetaCaptivity, and by we, i mostly mean me. I'm sure one day I'll make a video about it but for now I hope you can enjoy this text post

So as you know in the story, Germany is trapped in this pleasent facility and drugged to keep sleeping. The calender keeps marking down to something but its a mystery to what, and depending on the stuff he does, his fingers start to go missing. Thats as far as we get to establish in the demo.

From there we try to still explore more, it turns out that zombie thing was one hell of a hallucinations by a blow dart of drugs to keep you from escaping, and your finger was surgically removed, as a warning. I mean your a nation, it'll grow back. You need to be even more sneaky to find the mysterys of this place, finding more notes.

After a while, you start to find Italy around the facility, but the moment you leave and come back or turn your back hes gone, making it seem like he's just a mass hallucination as well (hence the picture) or that hes another subject trapped here.

Also you begin to find out, this isnt your first time here, you've been here several times. Each note you find with hints left behind has been a previous time that you've spent in this place, written strangely because he barely had any fingers to hold a pen with in. The thing you find out youre counting down to is 'harvesting day', which... you guessed it! harvests your innards, and then when you recover enough from it you have your memory wiped and turned loose back on the world until next year

You want and need to stop this cycle, and through again, the puzzles and drug trips, you find the main office and whose there but Italy, because... dundundun this was all his idea

this is where it gets a little shaky with character motivations but follow me here. Italys inital goal was about cooking with the flesh and innards, because it provides a taste that very little else can replicate that his gourmet senses can notice. Back in the way way day, he'd use human death sentance prisoners to get his fix but Germany found out and intervened, saying thats super wrong to use humans like that. Italy seemed at his wits end about his addiction issue, and Germany offered himself since he can grow back. Italy kept to the promise, but he wasnt able to act on the promise until a decade later, by then Germany had forgotten about it and he just thought Italy kicked the habit. hahhaha he didnt. Italy assumes Germany knows about the arrangement so he doesnt bother to bring it up, until... you know, this point where Germany confronts him about it. Italy and Germany have a 'yearly camping trip' where they go off the grid for a few weeks and everyone knows it, thats when this takes place.

There's three endings depending on your path of rebellion or going along with it. Ending one, nothing changes and you go through the cycle with a wiped memory again. Ending two, Germany is set free, but now Japan is the one going on the 'yearly camping trip'. Ending three, the hardest of the endings, is to finally convince Italy how fucking insane this is and he has a problem, and get him to a rehabilitation facility, the game ends with them going on an actual camping trip when Italys released.

So with these theming you may have realized why the original title was 532, or 5.32... it was meant as a reverse situation of episode 23.5. Dig and I thought of a horror game, cuz I wanted to make one, and someone who was not usually in a antagonist limelight was Italy. With those two it was REALLY hard to think of a plot, then I was like "... well germany ate him once, how do we get italy to eat germany" and this was born!

SO, to start things off Charlie is a fandom oc for the fnaf fangame Dayshift at Freddy's (specifically a dsaf 3 oc for au reasons) but theres a lot more to him then that- right now Imma b honest his backstory is the more fleshed out thing then his current story cuz despite my dsaf hyperfixation (which is sorta kinda dying out) I was never rlly able to get thru watching a dsaf 3 playthrough so lemmie just graaaaaab the backstory and slap it here (no I'm not I'm tying it out cuz I only gave a tiny bit of it to Lem-)

so Charlie was born & raised in a small town in Colorado with a childhood that wasnt too odd but wasnt great either, he was bullied a lot for being feminine and his parents tried to steer him towards more stereotypically masculine activities & interests but it took several years before it ever really affected him, another issue was Charlie had undiagnosed ADHD & pretty bad mood swings which affected him quite alot and led to his parents usually being angry at him for things he didnt understand he was doing but he was usually resiliant even if he was secretly close to breaking down he just tried to ignore it & move on.

Later on in his life he became super into old-school radio and tv show hosts who had that whole vibe yk? I dunno how to word it so Imma assume you know- but anyways he got super into the persona those radio and show hosts had and started to imitate them almost down to a T and was almost perfectly able to mimic the typical voice they had in his late teens which he used to help further him in his plan to become a host for a simple entertainment show and yknow what? He did manage to get a spot hosting a show on a very local tv channel for about a year but sadly his twist on the classic tv host personality made people not want to watch his show because he acted "too feminine" and slowly ratings dropped until they had to cancel the show and his dreams were essentially ruined because he's quite stubborn and therefore wont (and probably cant) change his personality much just to be more 'palatable' to people since it'll make him seem fake anyways

[ spoilered bit contains death mention ] after that he spent around 3 years hopping from basic job to basic job usually getting fired for some dumb reason or another (cuz his personality was very 'weird' to those around him also this was like the late 70s early 80s they knew he was gay & they wanted him out) but then he found a job at the local resturant ||and yada yada died ngl his story when it starts to properly connect with the dsaf series starts to bore me out but also kind of didnt die at the same time? He ended up in an undead state and since he was still alive|| he was bound to the company forever so he basically got moved around from location to location until the resturant chain crumbled to the ground

then Jack rebooted the resturant chain by opening a new resturant & Charlie got hired as an employee because what else could he really do in his life? Not much- but anyways now he's currently working there and uh lemmie just graaaaaaaaaaaaaaaab some bullshit again & explain his relationship with his friend/crush or bf (depends on the au) Rowan

Rowan was already working at the place before Charlie got hired since Rowan was the 2nd one hired just after the phone guy and one day Charlie tried to strike up some conversation while they were on break which didnt go to well because Charlie's a bit bad at socializing but Rowan saw the effort and later on tried to chat with Charlie which did end up going well and gradually they started to sometimes have conversations while doing misc work stuff & soon they became friends

Charlie was slightly clingy but thankfully respected Rowan's boundries because Charlie had been desperate for an actual friend for years and didnt wanna fuck this chance up so gradually they grew closer and [boom time to au split motherfuckers]

Rack/Rowan x Jack au: Rowan knew Charlie was one of those "single but in a way where he has good relationship advice cuz of that" people & tried to bring up the fact he was catching feelings for someone, Charlie was slightly saddened because he developed a crush on Rowan but he was willing to give advice even if it was slightly obvious this hurt him and Rowan admitted he had a crush on Jack (I am too tired to explain Jack if ykyk if you dont then insert roblox oof sound here) and Charlie gave as much advice as he could because he could handle the fact Rowan didnt like him well enough where it didnt crush him and when Rowan & Jack started dating Charlie was supportive & the crush died down enough where Charlie didnt really care

CottonCandy/Rowan x Charlie au: Charlie slowly developed a crush on Rowan during their friendship and tried to keep it secret & push the thought down until it got too bad & Charlie had to confess sometime soon, that sometime came on a random night when Charlie was being a simping insomniac & had a really big urge to text (oh yeah surprise we're in 2023 timeline wise now) Rowan confessing that he loved them, thankfully Charlie's common sense dulled that down to pulling a "I think I like someone, have any advice?" text then hinting it's Rowan from there which he then proceeded to do, ngl the text was probably basic asf & Rowan sort of got the hint but he denied it at the same time until a week later after their day at work Charlie & Rowan decided to hang out at a local park & Charlie decided to confess to Rowan, Rowan was slightly surprised but also was thinking about the hints from earlier that week and even smaller hints from the past month or so and said he had to take a while to think about it, Charlie tried to remain calm and accepted the fact as best as he could because he thought he was being rejected but a couple days later Rowan texted Charlie saying to come to his place after work & after a few hours of hanging out Rowan said he liked Charlie back too

I’m picturing this..

The infamous Midoriya Izuku, captain of the Sleeping Dove, fastest ship to sail the waters, somehow gets captured by other pirates

Old rope tears into his skin, tied tight and bound against a mast. Rain thunders down on them, his ripped, white cotton shirt that’s stained with dirt and blood is plastered against his skin.

Green locks frame his face, defining his cheekbones covered in freckles and sharp jawline.

He was stripped of everything but his clothes and boots, it left him feeling terribly naked and damn near afraid.

He knew the waters they were sailing into, he knew those rocks that jutted from the ocean and tore strong ships down, he’s seen it all before.

He’d warn the crew.. but a dirty rag was tied around his mouth. His screaming muffled, his thrashing about ignored.

The skies turned dark despite it being midday, unnaturally so, even in this sudden storm.

And then... they heard it.

The angelic noise that drove all lust-crazed sailors to their death-

The singing of a mermaid.

Hell, if he wasnt bound right now, he’d probably be driven to his death as well.

Confusion stirred on the ship, but it wasnt long until the majority of the crew was looking over the railing and into the sea where no doubt a plethora of mermaids call to them.

And finally..

One jumped in.

And it became a blood bath.

It all happened so fast..

The railing torn from the ship by seaweed, the creaking of the wood as she was pushed and pulled to and fro. For a brief moment, Deku feared the ship would be tipped over and he’d drown like the rest of the men aboard.

Honestly, he felt like that wouldve been a bit better than hearing the cries for help that pierced through the previously silent night.

The stench of blood made the air thick, the rocking of the boat making him dizzy despite usually finding comfort in it.

He had to get out of here.

In his panic to slither out of the ropes like a python, he didnt notice a mermaid staring at him from behind, her arms freckled in drops of sea that reflected the light of the moon like precious gems.

She found him pretty.

Handsome, even.

Too gorgeous to kill, yet she desperately wanted to dance with him under the waves.

He only noticed her when she cooed at him.

He froze with fear, laughing under his breath.

Mermaids love the scent of fear, it intoxicated them-

He couldnt show fear, he couldnt let it freeze his veins and numb his body - unless he wanted to die, and he most certainly did not want to die.

“You remind me of a fish trapped in a cage.”

Her statement caught him off-guard.

Sure, he’s her mermaids sing.. but never speak. They weren't much for talking as much as they were for tearing human flesh from bones.

He somehow got the cloth that silenced him out of his mouth,

“Is that so?” He felt the need to reply to hide his nervousness, “Well I hope I’m not trapped for long.”

Just then, another mermaid jumped high out of the water, spraying those still on board with salty sea water before grabbing someone screaming bloody murder and flopping back into the water below.

Izuku gulped.

“I hope so too.”

He inhaled sharply through his noise, her intoxicating voice right behind his ear.

While he was previously distracted, she jumped on board, gained her land legs, and made her way over to him.

The ropes then were sawed off by a jagged knife she held, and he was free.

“You know, if you stay here, you’ll die.” She giggled, watching him crawl cautiously around the boat, strolling after him.

“And if I leave, I still die.” He was in quite the predicament, but he needed the things stolen from him before the ship sank - which, by the sound of it, wouldn’t be before long.

He ran about below deck, searching for his stuff like a mad man while she watched with childlike curiosity.

Once he had everything, all that was left was getting the hell out of dodge.

The ship was sinking, and he was the only sailor left.

He didnt know what to do.

He may be Captain Midoriya, but fuck, that didnt make him some super hero that could easily escape deaths door - even if he’s miraculously done it several times before

“Let me help you.”

You offered with a devilish smile.

“Why.. what do you want in return..”

He was cautious, even now. Even if you did help him, mermaids were not to be trusted. They took that trust and ate you alive.

Your arms wrapped around him from behind, hands feeling up under his shirt.

“Take me with you.”

He didnt have time to argue, and so, he agreed.

Take a chance or die, and he wanted to fight against fate.

The story of how Captain Deku escaped mermaid waters became muddled as the story was passed around, it somehow turned from

‘A mermaid saved him!’

Into

‘He slaughtered every mermaid that came at him, sunk the ship, and took off on a row boat with a hole in it!’

Not that he would deny that story.

Hell, he’d even elaborate on it. Drunken lies didn’t matter, right? He’d sail away before dawn broke the sky anyway.

He didnt learn your name until a month at sea with you on his ship.

“(Y/N).” You whispered into his ear, hot breath sending shivers down his spine as your hips ground down against his hardening member.

“(Y/N)..” he repeated breathlessly, cheeks burning wish a blush, mesmerizing jade eyes glazed over with lust, lips soon becoming preoccupied by your own as you both fell back against his bed.

He would soon familiarize himself with the name throughout the night, and you’d be able to know the effect the title ‘Captain’ had on him in his bedroom.

We’ve been really focused on getting the Step 3 DLC done and keeping up with asks kind of got away from me, aha. Thank you for waiting for a reply! We’re still definitely behind, but here’s a good chunk of responses!

I love Our Life so much but if the release of the step 3 dlc is in April, please don't "release" it on April 1, my poor heart can't take that prank 😭

Don’t worry! I’m horrible at pranks, haha. When we do post something specifically for April Fool’s it’s always to pretend it’s a joke when in reality it’s something we’re actually planning to do. But we don’t have anything like that arranged for this year. Any posts on April 1st will just be like normal.

Omigod, can you end the game in love with Cove but not in a relationship? My character stayed calm at the restaurant and Cove slept over at her home and I think I may have missed it. I'm delirious if I did, may never stop laughing. The children are idiots 

Haha, yes, it is possible to be in love and still not get into an actual relationship. There’s no forced ending where the two are made to confess their feelings and accept, it’s all optional/avoidable.

How can you see the new main character cut-in images? I'm not trying to be rude, but, all of my playthroughs, but I haven't seen them yet. (I know you can go through an entire game without seeing them, but I have went through multiple games.)

Hello! I bumped into Our Life randomly last month, and it is one of the best coincidences I have ever laid on. I love how the choices and little details in the story changes throughout the game, and I'm excited to keep supporting you! I'm absolutely in love with Cove and would like to ask what keeps him to be especially interested in the MC? Other than how you can choose what fondness level you have with him, what ultimately leads him to be in sync with us? Sorry if it's a little much & thank u! 

Cove likes the MC because, regardless of the different personality traits you can give the MC, they meet him on his level, listen to him, understand him (even if you’re indifferent and not really close the MC still gets where he’s coming from), and if you’re fond/crush/love than you’re there for him. He finds the MC someone he can respect, trust, and, if they’re close, feel safe with. I’m glad you enjoyed the game!

hi there! for xoxo droplets i see the that female pronouns are used in the description, in the actual game can you change the pronouns or are they stuck as female? i'm aware the game is free, but i have a bad habit of buying dlc's before playing the game so it would be helpful to know before i spend money on it. if anything i'll save that money for more our life dlcs when they come out :D

XOXO Droplets does have a set MC. It’s the story of a specific person rather than a game about making your own story. All of our games prior to Our Life were about exploring MCs that were fully fleshed out people in their own right, so you can’t get the OL experience from what we did before. But we do plan to do more custom-style MCs going forward from here!

For the our life nsfw dlc, will you have to be in the patron to have it or  will there be another way for people who really support the game but can't pay to get it? 

I’m afraid not. We might put it up for sale somewhere other than Patreon someday (though never on Steam or Itch) since we know not everyone can use that site, but it will still cost money on any other hosting page we use. It’s unfortunately not a piece of content we can give away for free.

Hello! I finally got to play Xoxo Blood Droplets and it mentioned about a DLC coming out soon. Is it already out or are you still planning it?

We are still planning to finish it when we can, we just had to put it on hold because 2020 was a tough year and we needed to put all our focus on Our Life. There’s some of the extra DLC stories available for beta testing on the Patreon.

Is there a link to the soundtrack for Xoxo Blood Droplets? I really like the music in this game! 

That’s not available yet, but we’ll probably put it up for sale once the rest of the stories are done.

We might! There are some things we wanna do and fix before we really start advertising XOXO Droplets things again, but hopefully it all comes together.

Why does Cove dislike Shiloh so much despite all of Shiloh's efforts to get along? I can understand his dislike for Lizzie, but why Shiloh? 

They met under bad terms (with an arranged play date he had no choice in), Shiloh’s sort of pushy himself when it comes to trying to get along, and Cove thinks he’s just kind of unusual in how he interacts/reacts with people. They don’t click, basically.

Is there a way to have your character be a tsundere? And have Cove toughened up a bit due to that? Sorry if the is a stupid question! ^^;

Maybe? The options in the game aren’t based on those types of personality tropes and I don’t know them well enough to say if you can accurately find a way to make it work with the available options. But it’s not a stupid question, I’m sure plenty of other people have considered something similar c:

do voiced names work only with their exact spelling? cause my mc is called Sophia and one of the voiced names is Soffia so i was wondering but if only works like that it's fine (sorry if i made any mistakes, english isn't my first language) 

“Voice” and “text” are separate! You can pick the “voice” you want and then type in whatever “text” you prefer. And your English is really good.

Will OL:NF be based on a season/break like the first game? Or some other type of setting? 

Our Life: Now & Forever takes place over the full course of Autumn. So, the start of school and then into the fall holiday season type of time period.

Only in small ways, really. Sadly, I’m just not someone who enjoys jealousy in stories and therefore I don’t know how to implement it in a way that feels enjoyable. Maybe I’ll figure out a angle I can work with in future projects.

Do you have any plans with Our Life once step 4 has been released along with step 3's DLCs? 

After the Step 3 DLCs and Step 4 we’ll be releasing the Cove wedding DLC, the Derek romance DLC, and then the Baxter romance DLC. The project will likely be considered fully complete at that point.

Hello, I just needed to first of all sat how amazed I was when I discovered this game. I thought I would be disappointed by the lack of love interests, but you worked so hard to make sure Cove is the Best Boy for so many different people!! It really has been my comfort game for a while now, and I think all the different choices you allow make it the best romance game I’ve played in my life. The only problem is now my expectations for love are Cove level, and no one can live up to that. You’ve put so much consideration to make this game super inclusive and I think it’s amazing. If I can ask, for the exclusive NSFW Patreon dlc, will it only be available for the month it comes out? Or could I become a patron months later and still be able to download it. Aw, thanks <3! I’m so happy it was such a nice experience for you. We are planning on having a Kickstarter for Our Life: Now & Forever. It’ll have similar rewards to the Our Life: O&A Kickstarter, but some changes will have to be made. Like, we’ll definitely need to increase the rate for getting a voiced name. Originally it was $3USD, which was super low for how much work it really took to add in a customized piece of voice acting, aha. Live and learn.

So sorry if you've already answered this, I looked but I couldn't find anything. Is the 18+ DLC coming out alongside the Step 3 DLC, or do they have different development timelines entirely? I'm so excited for all the DLC coming out in the future, and even though the release dates aren't out, I'm already counting down the days. :)

They have different development times and will come out separately. Despite taking place in the same Step period, they’re disconnected pieces of content and making progress on one doesn’t mean the other is closer to being finished. The normal Step 3 DLC is releasing first. It’s great to hear you’re looking forward to them!

Cove’s mom, Kyra, is white. But his dad’s, Cliff’s, race doesn’t come up and players are able to headcanon it. So Cove is half white and half whatever you prefer Cliff to be! 

hello! there was a post on the patreon where you can run your fingers down cove's chest in errands - how do you get that scene? ♥ 

That was an old mistake on my part- you can only get that scene in the Ending rather Errands. You have to leave the big family dinner at the restaurant to go into the car, be dating Cove for a while, have Cove come see you there, and then mention using your hands when Cove makes a joke about hands.

in baxter’s dlc, is there any point where you can tell him about the previous renters of the condo? 

You can talk to him about that in the normal Step 3 DLC!

he’s Very Shy. he’s the youngest in the squadron but was bumped up into sunburst squadron bc of his skill. he doesn’t like talking much so he’ll pat your arm or grab his brother’s shoulders to get their attention. when he does speak, it’s very soft spoken and gentle. he got in trouble a lot when he was a cadet for trying to befriend the service droids or little animals he would find. if you mention something you like, like a certain type of flower or necklace, WHATEVER he does kinda have....sticky fingers...so he’ll just Snatch the thing you like unprompted and then later he’ll just shove it into your hands and walk away. 1000/10 deserves a kith

oKiE next we have kamikaze (kaze or kami for short) and jaws.

so kamikaze or kami OR kaze for short—he’s the pilot! earned is name for a reason bc this boy is fuckin WILD with piloting. he likes to brag that he’s the best pilot in the GAR which—idk you’re gonna have to judge that yourself. bc yeah he always makes it out alive whethet or not his ship is all but bLOWN UP but—he’s cocky and you might end up loosing your lunch since he tends to do a lot of barrel rolls or made up stunts. he’s a sweetheart tho, after you push aside the cocky and happy go lucky attitude. he’s super hyper most of the time so the squad likes to joke that he has designated nap time dhdjdbd

jaws!!! JAWS MY BOY—he got his name because one time he almost got eaten by a nexu the day after being promoted from cadet. he’s a Flirt, but gets awkward when you flirt with him back. he loVES holodramas or holonovels and therefore a hOpeLESS romantic rvdkdb unfortunately he some how believes that bad pick up lines work,?,,,?! he has some wild scars on his back and will have nO HESITATION to show you the nexu teeth marks. he has a tendancy to “adopt” little creatures or encourage sweets to steal one so That is an Issue

can you....guess..,.what he enjoye? if you guess setting shit on fire/blowing things up then yUh. the reason he has different colored tattoos is because he was originally from another squadron but was reminded too many times and he was sort of Forced out. FORTUNATELY the general transfered him in sunburst squadron and let’s him be the explosives guy. he’s also very hyper and gets ALONG GREAT with kamikaze—a little too well fhdkd the chaos bros for sure. he’s super rambunctious/loud, isnt shy to tell you what he thinks—even those in higher command. he gets in trouble for it but he has a heart of gold and means well!

and then the medic!! void

vOid is Tired....sO TIRED OF DEALING WITH fuse and kamikaze’s cOUNTLESS stupid injuries. he’s the Mom friend and will literally run and tackle you if you aren’t drinking water or taking the meds he’s perscibed. arguably the Smartest one in the bunch—at least with common sense fhdkdb he’s bffs with blue and theyre the Mean Girls of the squad, silently judging you always dhsksn. he definitely overworks himself a LOT just because he cant stand to be alone with his thoughts for long or else he starts to fixate on all the lives he couldnt save. he needs a pHat nap and a cup of caf sO PLEASE give him this, he also always has a massive headache due to the bafoonery he must deal with 25/8 dhsksn

how long did it take you to plan out kittyquest and the earth c lore? it's a really well thought out great adventure and as an aspiring fanventure creator i am curious about how long it took to get everything figured out

i had no intention of fleshing it out into comic form and was content with faux-panels until i decide to "unless...?" myself, as i always do time and time again. from there i decided to base it purely off of suggestions (lol) and, at the threat of there being no centralized plot, thought back on the cult of the witch, which i had introduced as a gag in the pilot light, pale rapture trilogy. from there i started to build up where the plot was going to go, and several months into the adventure i formally sat down and wrote a few pages outlining roughly where the rest of the comic was headed, later splitting into sections so i would always know what i would be addressing in a given update. i could hardly fathom going back to the days of NOT knowing what i was about to be sitting down to write/draw

this is not the first time ive mentioned this, but i accidentally emulated hussie in that ramona wasnt planned from the start, and i was actually kind of scared to introduce her. i simply repurposed an adult earth c fantroll id drawn a single time and decided, you know what, this might shake things up a bit. and im glad i did that. ive strayed from the outline a few times, adding things along the way. my great, GREAT, *GREAT* hope is that it does not all fall flat in the end. a lot of people still expect KQ to be a sburb adventure, which it is very explicitly tagged as not being. KQ at its heart is something self-contained (this might age poorly) and content to tell a small-scale, relatively low stakes story, and ive never pretended that its going to be some grand epic adventure like others out there. knowing the scope of your story is important because it helps maintain a consistent mood and generally keeps you grounded. i think its okay if you dont have an end in mind, but i would recommend thinking about how youre going to get there so that things dont feel rushed, like what happened with homestuck... which i think is an example of someone spending so much time thinking about the ending that it kind of ends up being coughed up in your lap

as for earth c lore, the text portion of the field guide took maybe a couple weeks to write, though i did add and edit some text pretty recently before its release. worldbuilding is singlehandedly the most rewarding and fun part of working on KQ, i love thinking about how mundane daily life works there which really lends itself to being able to freely write pages upon pages of expository text without too much writers block. i could talk about it for hours. if you have already found an idea that youre super excited about, just write and draw as much stuff for it as you can stand to. hell, just notebook doodles and jotting stuff down in the notes app will do. it will help you have something to go off of when you actually get cracking on writing your outlines

generally i dont think theres a wrong or right way to go about making an mspfa style adventure, i know a lot of the big ones have multiple writers and artists, but im just one random guy doing this shit in my office when i get home from work. think about how much time, both short- and long-term that youre willing to commit. is it just a fun thing you want to do when you have free time? thats great! are you committed to a long form story that might take you multiple years to complete? maybe write an outline or several, ask a friend if they can beta read or help you out a little. i didnt have a plan when i started, and i still sort of feel nagged by that as KQ begins to enter its twilight years, er, twilight updates. but one mans lack of planning is another mans freedom to write whatever the hell they want

i hope this was even halfway helpful, a lot of this was probably just rambling. good luck with your stories! :)

I like the idea of an au where Magnus and Alec meet before the show or maybe Clary just shows up a little later but still managed to meet on the canon timeline somehow, but I have no idea how it could change things, I (want to) imagine that Izzy is closer to Magnus since she has meet him now for longer (maybe jace is just a little less of an asd though doubtful), idk what do you think?

hmmm i dont think i have any, like. super fleshed out thoughts about this but what i like the most about that idea is that by the time there's the whole lydia drama they would have already know each other to some extent. maybe not be dating but have, you know, their thing for longer than just one late night date, which i think makes that plotline more meaningful for the both of them

not that it's not meaningful as it is, i think it's pretty meaningful - magnus is being rejected straight after baring his heart to someone new for the very first time and daring to hope AND watching homophobia turn a guy's life miserable, and alec is turning his back to everything he's ever wanted for good - but like. it would make it more difficult for the both of them and id like to see what that would be like when the two of them would have had time for their feelings for each other to mature

honestly i think it makes more sense too because like HOW in the world did the Acting Head of the NYC Institute and the High Warlock of Brooklyn NEVER fucking meet before clary??????? i mean okay sure they probably had "met" as in magnus was there to reinforce the wards and they exchanged a few words and that was that, which is different because magnus is in sh territory and neither of them feel the slightest bit comfortable in there, but did they never work together before the memory demon thing? i mean, seriously?

and actually considering how they didnt know each other's names it's implied they hadn't even met like THAT before which is just weird

but anyway i would like to have seen that different first meeting and maybe play a bit with the parallels there could be. like they would probably be taking on some particularly bad demon together and it would have been nice to like, have alec shoot some demon who was about to get to magnus and have that kinda "silent protector" vibe that they first had at the club, and then maybe if magnus gets injured alec could lend his strength too and/or tend to his wounds lmao. just another version where alec shows that same caring and gentleness that magnus had been craving for so long and magnus ends up falling for him all unexpectedly, especially after maybe a little bit of battle bickering that turns out to actually be fun for once, you know? aaa id love that

okay so things that would have changed imo:

that cursed "alec thinks he is in love with jace" drama wouldnt be a thing, which i think would mean that alec would be even less interested in helping him and clary be dumbasses and throw everything to shit, so theyd have to go behind his back extra hard and their whole fallout would have come even sooner. dont ask me how that affects "the plot" i barely remember what that even was in this dumb show

i think he'd be more mad at jace than clary and simon, so maybe their relationship in s1 wouldn't be so bad as he would see them as more accomplices to jace than The Ones Who Are Throwing Everything To Shit you know

the lydia drama would be more complicated and angsty because both of them would have had time to mature their feelings. i dont think theyd have dated because again alec had chosen the closet and i dont think hed do anything to jeopardize that, but well... if he gets to go on missions with magnus and maybe enjoy some flirting bantering... nothing wrong with that, right? he was always upfront about that. but the feelings were there and the connection was there and that would make it even harder for the both of them to deal with the fact that alec was marrying some woman

oh wait! juicy. so magnus had been on the low because of valentine and all, and they hadnt seen each other in a few months or so, so when magnus comes back there's like. that extra layer of alec realizes how much he's missed him and makes his resolve even more fragile because well. fuck. his feelings for him sure didn't go anywhere

magnus on the other hand would maybe be more wary of him because, well, since he last saw him valentine is back and god knows what the lightwoods are up to, considering last time. magnus knows him well enough by now to know that he doesn't agree with his parents on a lot of things, but he also knows that alec chooses their protection almost always

so we would have at the very least a more level "cat and mouse game" where alec also needs to go after magnus and not just the other way around, you know? and maybe in this version magnus is the one who tells alec his parents used to be in the circle, not... whoever it was in canon (i think lydia? my god i really need to rewatch this show) which is one of the most important seeds that led alec to call off his wedding imo, so it would be interesting for magnus to be the one to give him that information

not that i think that's why he would tell him, i think if anything magnus would assume alec knew. so he'd be like "no offense, alec, but i don't really feel like trusting a lightwood in those times" and somehow the topic would come up because of that

in terms of character/relationship development this was my fave book of phase 2: loved every moment between val and militsa, val and skul and val and tanith and even val and fletcher (even though he’s in it for 2 seconds then disappears for the entire rest of the book lol).

I even got a little more invested in omen’s story in this book, which is something that the last few totally failed to achieve. only a little, though- I still found myself skimming through some of his pages towards the end. idk the whole school kids thing just doesn't really interest me, anyone else? and also DL switching never’s pronouns literally MID FUCKING SENTENCE will never not annoy me. just use they/them when you aren't sure bro I promise it’s not that hard 

the trend in earlier books of phase 2 that really irked me was val and skul splitting up for huge chunks of the books, and im glad that didn't happen in this one. they will forever be my 2 faves so seeing them interact and have their little moments together was great and really reminiscent of phase 1. val seems so much better by this book, too, so it’s nice to see remnants of her old personality shine through. this book had me actually laughing out loud in parts, which hasn’t happened since, like, tlsodm. 

the story, however, is getting so weird that it’s really hard to follow everything that happens. the time travel thing was so so exciting until it basically just turned into liebniz 2.0- don't even get me started on the harpy thing- and I really just.... miss china sorrows?? where is she?? give her back to me??????? hopefully she plays a bigger role in the next book now that she's finally awake cos her feature in this book was literally blink-and-you-miss-it (excluding that fucking weirdness in the future). cadaver cain gave me feelings and I don't even know what those feelings were. I loved it until he went into all that seeing the future and praising evil gods thing. I get that skul would go totally off the deep end when he lost val but....  like, he already has vile to turn into, so maybe he should've just left it at that instead of making himself ANOTHER alter ego. they could populate a new dimension with other versions of themselves at this point. when will it end? 

I hope Sebastian’s doing well with baby Darquesse because I honestly stopped caring enough to read those chapters by the end. I assumed she might be coming back as the child of the ancients to fight Alice (somehow??????) or something like that but I've totally lost it now and just. hope they're happy and stuff. wishing you well but stay away from me. let me know if you start being actually important any time soon. 

my biggest gripe from this book though is the coda thing. I wish coda had a better storyline than basically just being caelan 2.0. he’d been built up from the previous books and I was actually so excited to meet him and he just ... had one single interaction with val then turned psycho and got himself killed? I feel like his plan towards the end was something derek maybe wanted to flesh out for the originally-planned 9 books but had to cut when they shortened the length of phase 2 (which, I wish they hadn't if only because it’s gonna suck seeing him attempt to tie up ALLLLL these loose ends in one [1] single book). idk it just felt a little pointless even bringing him at all considering all he ended up contributing was (technically) breaking val and militsa up. I just... was really looking forward to his storyline and idek why cos he was mentioned like 3 times and I should've known that

val ending up just saying fuck it and becoming the child of the faceless was genuinely unexpected so im super interested to see where that goes (also SUPER FUCKING GLAD SHE DIDNT TURN INTO A FUCKING HARPY WHAT THE DAMN HELL). I was worried about her becoming the child of the faceless because I didn't want to just see a Darquesse round 2 thing where she gives in to another dark side and everyone has to team up against her. but, hopefully that won't happen and he’ll do it well. I have hope (even though up to now 99% of new plots/characters have been alarmingly similar to old ones).

final gripe- SORRY BUT WHERE THE HELL WERE SERPINE AND VEX? WHAT HAPPENED TO ALL THE SHIT THAT HAPPENED MERE MONTHS PRIOR IN SOW? I was hoping for a whole thing about val growing back serpine’s hand, maybe some angst from vex about rue’s death or maybe just some general badassery from them, or even a simple mention. but no, nothing. hopefully one or both of them appear in the final book. who knows. probably not.guess we’ll see next year.

I literally haven't made noise in this fandom since like 2014 but the hype over doa has literally brought me back from the ashes. keen to hear everyone else’s thoughts on the new book, too, so feel free to hmu with those. this was accidentally the longest post ever I guess I had more feelings than I thought I did about doa.
