Malice (in Alice’s body) kickstarts the Corrival Pillar from the Dark Cathedral. She leaves Alice’s body but Creed captures her in a Soul Catcher.

Back at the Cadaver fight, Cadaver stabs Auger with the Obsidian Blade, and the weapon’s properties spread to him and he becomes Obsidian - then teleports away.

Valkyrie flies into the Activation Wave in order to deactivate it before it expands. She appeared to suffer no ill effects, not becoming the Harpy she saw in the future.

Coda Quell attacks Militsa as he sees her as an obstacle between him and Valkyrie. But because of the Draíocht-boost, Coda is thrown into the Necropolis and dies.

Perfidious Withering offers Martin Flanery the Splash drug for use on his military.

Sebastian is arrested by the City Guard after being ratted out by Tantalus to Commander Hoc. Creed uses the Darquesse society as bait to lure Darquesse, which works, and they capture her.

China, Temper, and everyone else are fugitives, and to top it all off, Valkyrie is now the Child of the Faceless Ones, and a receptacle that brings them into the world. Weeks later, the Faceless Ones can be seen standing over every major city on Earth.

If you can, I’d recommend reading Grimoire, because as well as being incredibly funny it also bridges the gap between the books very nicely. Plus, it has some great character art.

Burrows End is SO SO good and Aabria is such a master of story telling. This season, despite being genuine DnD vs other systems Aabria has used, hasn't actually seen all that much full blown combat. Like, of course they've fought things throughout, but it's been so much more information hunting and puzzling together all the lore. But this obviously means those scenes we do have such full blown COMBAT with sets so much more important, which was obvious in the reactor....but the bear....so obviously it's been focused on in reference to Tula's reveal, or as a show of how fucked up biology wise this world they live in is and how dangerous it is in the forest.

But it's also Aabria laying such incredibly subtle groundwork. It's showing us "this is possible in this world. This happens. They can get inside of you, burrow into you, and you will be their walking warren. Parasite and host intertwined."

And then we move on...we focus on the secrets of the first stoats and learning of all these human things, and the chipmunks and bear are just fun tidbits to throwback to about how scary and fucked up things are, but no longer relevant.

Last week we heard those tapes, and I thought "that voice change there...the 'they're so sneaky'...was that a first stoat, who we only heard as squeaks, instead speaking through Dr. Wenabocker as he died?"

And I forgot about the bear too.

But the SECOND it was revealed that Wenabocker left, that his body was gone and that Phoebe left too? It all clicked.

The Bear wasn't just a fun, really cool fucked up battle set for an episode, it was incredibly important foreshadowing. The foundation, the trap, the big bad all at once hidden behind a cool, fucked up bear in the second goddamn episode of the season.

I really like how Thanks to Them makes Belos physically and literally represent his core character traits of manipulating people and discarding them the second they fulfill their purpose and are no longer useful to him by making his main powerset in the episode possessing things and then discarding them, usually completely stripped of life.

despite his flippant and egotistical character he gets mocked for, Satoru spent his whole life trying to make his world a better place — so his students could enjoy their youth. and with his god complex, he wanted to change society so they won’t have to rely on the “strongest” anymore. he sacrificed himself just to keep everyone safe even stretching himself to the bare bone/exhaustion for it. despite probably not being happy about it, feeling the burden of being a protector to the end, he even allowed his body to be used like that…

I guess, I can see why Satoru felt so alone all this time, and why he deliberately closed himself off by putting a nonchalant, frivolous mask to hide his misfortune of being the strongest — maybe he thought that’ll hurt him less 🥲. especially when no one stood up for him when being blamed for not killing a child’s life… and unironically his rival is the one that praises him in the end.

but you know what? idc he’ll be back next two chapters !!

If you told me last week I’d be Happy at Carpenter’s death scene I would’ve asked what the hell are you talking about? Carpenter? Carpenter my favourite character of all time? That Carpenter?

But I am so happy with her ending, because just before Tainsley fired something wondrous happened.

She forgot, and so she remembered.

For a time, especially if it’s early on, it can feel like your trauma defines you. That it makes up so much of who you are, that it’s almost like it is all you are.

And the best thing to deal with that (other than EMDR, therapy and meds) is time. One day you will wake up and it will not be all you are. One day those wounds will have scarred over and, though it is still part of you, you will forget enough to remember that you’re a person and not just a horror story.

Before she died Carpenter forgot. She forgot enough of her trauma that she forgot her Nana’s dying words. The words of the faith of the Trawler-man who she believed took her brother because of her faith’s collapse. She is no longer defined by her loss. She has recovered enough that those memories no longer feel like a fresh wound.

Before she died she remembered who she was. Ours is a world of miracles.
