kairi is the third protagonist of the kingdom hearts series and the third member of the destiny trio, alongside fan favorites sora and riku. sora/riku shippers HATE kairi, and will go out of their way to discount her at every turn. the hate for her ranges from typical "she's a boring bitch" to fans of soriku making five-hour long video essays reassuring their fellow shippers that the big bad kairi won't show up in the next installment – to quote one video, "she's in a box. she's on the shelf. four walls, no door." kairi is the greatest bogeyman the soriku fandom has ever known, to the point where most of said video essays and fanon meta posts focus not on why sora and riku should get together, but rather on why they don't like kairi.

Literally has a 100+ page Google doc fan theory writing her out of the narrative and putting all of her (few) canonical accomplishments onto half of the popular m/m ship (soriku). Don't even get me started on how her memory was completely written out of the canon plot of re:coded. KH is a nightmare to explain so dude trust me she is THE victim of yaoi

She is so fundamental to the plot and themes and narratives of game and yet it is near impossible to find anything about her thats not ship bashing pre-mlm with the other two characters. she gets treated in-canon the way fandoms treat female characters that Threaten an m/m ship. it's like, "oh why don't you go sit in the corner and be pretty, misa, while the Men have intelligent conversation and pretend they aren't ten seconds from fucking each other, doesn't that sound nice?" it's infuriating. and MAYBE it's better now but i remember her getting treated the same way in fanfiction too, like we all need to do just as badly by our female secondary characters as fucking tsugumi ohba, but with the added insult of making her be alternately oblivious of the relationship between light and L or actively trying to sabotage it—incompetently, of course, because god forbid misa be allowed dignity or moments of cleverness.

Not only is she the victim of yaoi culture, she is the victim of early 2000s misogyny by an author that wanted to introduce a girl character because he knew his male rivals were getting too homoerotic. She is a goth bimbo icon who portrays what I think is one of the few callouts for stan culture and what parasocial relationships can do to both the stan and the idol. The fact that she is a toxic fan of Kira and also hot, funny, sociable is tragic in its own way, which I think the author did try to touch on but was too misogynistic too really get through. Of course, she was reduced to villain status by the fandom and anime alike because she got in the way of the supposed romance in their psychological horror anime.

okay lets start off with their different instagram useage. lance hardly ever posts (averaging like 1 post a month) but nando on the other hand... (like 4 posts a week) so with this difference we get fernando mentioning and talking about and posting and praising lance and its so sweet because hes not doing it for lance to see hes doing it because he MEANS it.

then the fact that theyre so touchy for literally no reason and this isnt even new in 2017 (i believe) fernando was touching all up on lance after he got a podium and now that theyre teammates theres always some kind of contact going on (nando grabbing lances neck, arm, hands, hugging, etc.)

and yk i cant NOT mention the "happy you are not in alpine?" video because HELLO. the way lance walks over and grabs him straight away with a "yes, man" then when nando realizes its lance his whole face lights up. UGH. then when they hugged they were so close, lances lips practically against fernandos skin as he spoke like god get a rooommmmm... and we're all aware that nando is practically known for being evil and mean and having big rivalries with his teammates (besides carlo they're my babies) but thats never been a problem with lance theyve genuinely always been just love and had this sweet bond and dynamic since before nando and lance even thought of joining aston and its beautiful

also i adore how they basically refuse to fight eachother or risk their relationship its so sweet and its a very unique thing to see because this is a sport and thats the whole point. from lance saying he wasnt going to fight because it was fernando and nando giving lance his brake information because he knew it would help it really shows just how mature they are and how in the end they value their relationship and their teams performance as a whole so they put that above fighting eachother.

They also have a cute little dynamic, just homies who explore together. Theres a channel called Shiey where he literally does more extreme urban exploration (train surfing/biking through countrysides and helping animals along the way)

Obviously we love Safiya Nyygard but i also love DownieLive (hes more of a travel blog but he trys a lot of different things plus hes so lovely to watch. Good golden retriever personality)

i was talking w a friend a little bit ago about the exact differences between the generally speaking philosophies between older fans and younger fans. it seems that older fans embrace creating transformative works and having their own interpretations on who dnp are, whereas younger fans want to know dnp on a personal level and want dnp to know Them and recognize them not just as fans but as people. and OFC there are older phannies who want the parasocial interaction and younger phannies who write fic and people who do neither, and people who do both! there are both parasocial AND tranformative ways to break boundaries, and oftentimes they can be one and the same. they aren't our friends they arent our dads and they arent objects with no feelings. they don't stalk our accounts but they are still able to see whatever we post publicly. theyve seen so many horrible things and have had many horrible things happen to them, and while no one can be certain something like that won't happen again, now that they have been able to be more honest with us about a lot of things they are able to trust us a little bit more.

I think I will be a parasocial relationships defender for life because people tend to villanise the concept without really knowing how they work. People tend to think that parasocial relationships are only the instances where people stalk celebrities or want to kill themselves if their kpop bias reveals they are dating

But in reality parasocial relationships are classified by the idea that people in them are aware of the fact that these relationships are one sided and most people who interract with any celebrity fall in some way in a parasocial relationship. For a lot of people parasocial relationships are just a pretty healthy coping mechanism that lets them regulate their emotions by angaging with media they enjoy

This is just the natural effect of us using technology and our brains not knowing what a screen is. We know that the person isn’t actually talking to us but out brains don’t know this. Thats why we get attached to people in media.

The problem starts when the person in a parasocial relationship doesn’t know how to act in any social interaction online or offline. Because the parasocial relationship itself doesnt make you act “crazy” it just shows how you would act in any other relationships. Ofc they can become dangerous especially when people prey on emotionally unstable, socially anxious people to profit off of their emotional attachement (yes, kpop for example)

In a way its kind of like using substances. If you do it in moderation it can be fun and useful but relying on it too much can be harmful and take over your life

Okay well lets think about whats happened. New year and i dont feel any different, birthday and i dont feel any different. Thats not surprising because i think i change so much that i always feel the same. "i can't make it go away by making you a villain" but our brains tend to subconsciously dilute the details of such moments, sparing us the heartbreak or atleast make it easier to digest.

taylor feels right now that those songs were written in moments of delusion and perhaps she's right, but what's more likely is that it WAS good once upon a time. she just wants to forget it, and that's okay. it's her songs at the end of the day.

that was the most interesting part of the article how there wasnt anyone really under 40 to take the mantle of the previous generation and there isnt alot of actors under 40 that would make you go to the movies.

I think a part of that has to be how the media landscape and our access to celebrities have changed. The previous generation if you wanted to see your favourite actor you had to go to the theatres to see them. Now with social media, celebs are available through instagram, twitter, tik tok and your constantly bombarded by celeb updates, there opinions, video interviews which has led to an influx of people with parasocial relationships with celebs. The younger generation of actors have utilized these for their brands but at the cost that air of mystery that clear separtion between celeb and fan is gone. Fans can easily access to there favs on social media without ever having to spend the money to watch them in theatres.

That didnt really happen in the past like the previous gen of stars had an air of mystery to them you only had access to them through magazine interviews , red carpets, gossip but thats pretty much it.

Also vod and streaming has allowed people to wait and the cost of movie tickets are expensive. Studios looking for projects tht can make the most money rather make original and taking more risks etc.

See, when fans operate like THIS, it also stifles the growth and success of our generation's actors. 😔 Instead of making things a competition all the time, to me it's better to just support them all. 🤷🏾‍♀️
