announcing my newest project: the crit the rich campaign
A collection of Dungeons & Dragons sixth-level player character sheets for the Leverage crew, one per chapter, which includes portraits (8.5x11"), detailed backstories, homebrew magical items (untested, added mostly for flavor), and recommendations for progression up to twentieth-level. Geared towards a heist-style campaign with a high degree of tactical roleplaying and minimal fighting. [Warning: large images; suggested to view chapter by chapter.]
To start off, let me introduce you to Alec Hardison (he/him), an odonati (aasamir reskin based on dragonflies) wizard with some artificer training and a frog familiar named Lucille.

Adventures in D&D:
Some background -the party is (shocking) a ragtag group of people! We're currently on a very open ended adventure through space (our DM is a little trickster who gave us the impression that his campaign would be on a ship, but he failed to mention that ship was going to leave our planet and take us into space). We're a band and we only got on said ship because the rich guy who owns it said he wanted to be our patron (he did, which was nice at least).
Last night we were flying pass a space coral reef (honestly, so neat) and noticed a mining operation. We were going to just keep going since we have a little mission we're on, but then some merefolk approached us and my character is an 18 year old ranger who loves nature and comes from a place where his forest and lands were doing destroyed by greed so he has a soft spot protecting land and ecosystems.
We went down to the reef and approached the mining company (our DM knows us too well because he made them so obviously colonizers) and our one paladin did most of the talking while my character got visibly more and more tense after everything the foreman of the mine said.
Finally the foreman says something like "well we know the mining is bad but no one has tried to stop us except some of those merefolk" and I was like "my character is visibly shaking he is so mad and he says "who the fuck do you think you are" (this caused the table to burst out laughing because my character is typically pretty soft spoken except when something like this is happening.
The foreman says "I already told, I'm blah blah blah, who are you?"
And I said, "I'm Blurf" and then I attacked them with my hand axe kicking off combat and accidentally killing the foreman because I had two weapon fighting and I crit on the second hand.
God I love D&D.

Crit with Rich
I went to my crit where I spoke to rich about my idea of creating a brand/club that invites people who haven't surfed before. I wanted to support it with a social media campaign that targets unhappy students that may not want to socialise. After speaking to Rich about my idea, he said I should focus more on my experience and create somethings to show how its made me happier and benefitted me, rather than trying to solve a problem. These were some of the pointers he gave me:
Make it more personal
Don’t focus on designing
You could record yourself, what you’re thinking when you’re surfing
Think of a narrative
Focus on yourself and how your journey with surfing has bettered you
Focus less on making a brand
You could make a video or a book, something physical to show your experience.
Include research/stats in outcome to support your personal experiences
E.g small paragraph at beginning of a zine
Wrote about being in surf club - my experience Include newgale

Fashion Revolution
https://www.fashionrevolution.org/
‘Fashion Revolution is a not-for-profit global movement represented by The Fashion Revolution Foundation and Fashion Revolution CIC with teams in over 100 countries around the world.’
Within our crit Rich mentioned that you need to consider who would fund a campaign. Fashion Revolution is an organisation that I have come across multiple times in my research and I think they would be a good fit for my campaign. They are the worlds biggest fashion activism movement.

Feedback from Crit
From my presentation with Rich we discussed a few things to move the project forward.
We discussed the idea of whether having 'only' the voice activation was a good idea, or should it be more of a reminder and the app works WITH the smart device and not as a replacement.
I think this is a good idea and I could have a mention about how you can keep up with your streak using your voice.
We also discussed how the first slide is wasted as a title page with little information on it. The title card could serve as a place to give some quick insight on the campaign and an introduction.
I previously mentioned the idea of having a wildcard of a Duolingo styled Google Home, but its possible that thats too much and it takes away from the focus of voice controlled lesson and i weakens the campaign.
Being a parent is a full time job
Could using the Duolingo app provide a discount on Google products? I do like this idea but maybe something like doing a voice activated lesson can build towards a free Duolingo Maths premium membership- maybe you never lose lives using the Google Home.
Making it easy for parents to be able to juggle the process of improving child’s maths and chores / tasks
Talk about to parents about idea about everyday struggles of parenting
Tap into all smart devices not just google?

A vision from Agni is not something to be scorned, especially not a vision of a Firelord. By why, just why, are Azulon and his family being confronted by this upstart little wretch?
Aka: Zuko briefly pops back in time to stir shit up and then leave.
sometimes you look at a whole load of @ash-and-starlight's art and get compelled to write time travel zuko at 3am. if it helps i've been humming 'im a bitch, im a boss' throughout the process of uploading this. no idea what the rest of the song is. but it works. anyway im gonna be late so fic. tah dah

i think what kills me so much about Astrid is that she never gets to stop running, and i know if she got even a moment to stop she'd snap, but she's been running at breakneck pace since childhood. caleb gets to stop and grow a garden because he turns down the role of archmage and runs off to aeor with essek. but astrid doesnt. caleb hands her the empire and she just keeps going. race you to the top, she said, and caleb just let her run alone, because she's a better dancer

ok fam. rereading egw just learned that phoenixes are sacred in Kryn culture bc they are believed to hold an innate bit of the Luxon due to their ability to be reborn in flame. Ok ok ok ok. So clearly this sets an excellent basis for a Phoenix!Caleb au, wherein he is reborn in flame again and again and he truly did die in Astrid and Wulf's arms before burning up in the Sanitarium. Then he meets Essek, who so desperately doesn't want to believe in the Luxon until he's cornered on a boat with a symbol of his culture's faith offering him a chance to be figuratively reborn because he was not born with venom in his veins

thinking about fjord and caleb tonight. my tired working class boys who just want to go home, but have no home to go to. thinking about how they find homes with certified rich bitch best friends. thinking about how they go from shipless sailor and vagrant to figures of protection over their own relative spheres. thinking about how directly they work to leave the world better than they found it. they return to places of trauma - orphanages and academies - and root out the corruption that burned them. they become the heroes that they deserved, the miracles that people will pray for. but most importantly, they get a home, they get a family, they get the mighty nein

Crit Role Miniature Rollout: C3E3 The Trail and the Toll
With Andrew Harshman
An archive and review of the minis used on CR.
I was anticipating a possible warehouse battle map setting. I was not anticipating the cold-blooded murder of a beloved Critical Role character. Beloved to me anyway. Only took three session for me to get rather attached to Bertrand Bell. Tis sad, but I’m sure some good storytelling will come out of this tragedy.
Yes, for the good of Jrusar. I will enter the fray with you, it’s time for Crit Role Miniature Rollout Campaign 3 Episode 3!
The Episode Mini List
Chest and Trove 5E Condition Rings
Dwarven Forge City Builder System Stone
Dwarven Forge City Builder System Tudor
Dwarven Forge Tudor Wall & Post Add-On Pack Wooden Balcony
Dwarven Forge LED Lighted Walls Add-On Pack
Dwarven Forge Wicked City Accessory Add-On Pack Stone Gargoyle Corner Post

Bertrand Bell HeroForge Mini
Custom Campaign 3 Party Minis
Monster Menagerie #006 Larethar Gulgrin
Waterdeep Dragon Heist #15 Darkling
Pathfinder Battles Lost Coast #01 Goblin Snake
The Player Characters
Got a much better look at the party this broadcast. And they are beautiful! Truly inspired sculpts with incredibly rich and intricate paint work. The party minis are so nice in fact, Dorian’s ridiculous outfit actually looks pretty cool. These models are very true to their character portraits. So true in fact, they surely have to be original 3D sculpts. FCG is such a unique character design and the models have too many specific geometry details to have been made in a character creator engine. Still no word on the manufacturer’s identity.
I did want to mention Fearne’s wild shape very briefly. That’s no average snake. That there’s a goblin snake! The Pathfinder Battles Lost Coast #01 Goblin Snake. Another delightful PF monster. Complete with that distinct Pathfinder goblin football head shape. Delightful creature, fun seeing this figure pop up.
Favorite Mini
Bertrand Bell of the Bertrand’s Bells Adventuring Co. Bertrand Bell Hero Forge Mini
Guess I won’t get another opportunity to award Favorite Mini to Bertrand Bell, so I better do it now. Love myself a good Hero Forge. An excellent HF build with excellent paint. He’s got those signature Iron Tusk Painting eyes, I’m willing to bet that’s who did the painting. What a shame we’re unlikely to see this miniature again. Pour one out for a true adventurer (but miss the floor and accidentally hit a friendly party member’s shoes).
Least Favorite Mini
Shadowy Pale Dwarf Monster Menagerie #006 Larethar Gulgrin Mini image sourced from minisgallery.com
Shouldn’t this mini be a duergar? If this villain ends up being significant enough, they might end up with a customized model. This is my least favorite mini based entirely on the murderous deeds perpetrated by the character it represents. The mini itself is quite decent. And we’ve actually seen it quite recently, as the miniature base for Dagen in C2E115:
Final Thoughts
I’m now very invested in the party finding this new villain NPC. That is, unless the party gets found first! An enemy with the the feature Favored Terrain: Alleyways is indeed dangerous in an urban gaming setting. Session 4 begins the quest for coin and vengeance, I wish the Campaign 3 adventurers much luck.
See ya next sesh!

The woman from the sky yesyeysyes
HER ACCENT I LOVE HER SO MUCH. She's my favorite already I I'm i
THE CHARACTER VOICES- beef's is so fun
Griffin started talking and I thought he was speaking as Montrose and I was about to say "dude that's JUST your voice" .. I am a wee bit foolish

Montrose has an old timey rich guy voice (carnival barker) aND IT FITS SO WELL WITH WHAT HE DOES I SHOULD JAVE SEEN THIS COMING

Does Montroses voice count as an accent because I think it should. It has a certain cadence to it . Also I want a bingo spot.
A big unveiliiiiiing 👀 they are dropping the pin in cereal. I uhh I missed that connector tbh I did not realize it was related. That's what I get for pausing so much lol
Do you think they're gonna eat the cereal to get to the pin
I love the ominous carnival music in the background
YAY DICE ARE OUT BABY. Mechanics baby

Sorry but is that Minecraft sheep in the background right now?
"assault" "a pepper" shoulda put Travis makes a dumb joke on the bingo too
I like that the rule is once you start planning you're already there
I like that they're gonna undercut the other thieves akdnakndak
UESTACE!! AND WE GOT A SPELLING❤️ the bad news is that it's abysmal! I think it's supposed to be futuristic though. Gotta update the wiki.
Hold on. The hard light grandpa calls him papa and also does manual labor. They really are alive huh
I like that though. Very Pinocchio though in a kinda fucked up future way
Emerich wears a jumpsuit coverall 😌💪 win for character design. Also I love him he's the IT guy in an appliances guy kinda way

Justin's Taako voice came out there for a second "okay they're distracted what are you gonna do now?"

I have been playing gacha games for 8 years and, aside from a couple other JP additions this year, i have never seen powercreep even half as disgusting as Ashiya Douman in FGO. His first skill alone has effects that other servants would have as their entire NP, his second skill is a stacking guts and will double all allies crit damage for three turns if everyone is chaotic-evil and his third skill is….jesus savior-class christ. 50-80% battery?! WITH 20% CRIT AND ATTACK UP FOR THREE TURNS?! oh and because thats not enough 2k 5t curse on all enemies. He’s so ludicrously op his DOT is almost useful. You could write an essay on how this character shatters any illusion of balance. Between him, Castoria, and Oberon, you could write 7.
And it could not be more obvious this is their solution to those dropped profits. I look forward to the day where I have to stop playing because the ground level content for new releases has become designed around these units. Which it will. Because this game that supposedly “allows anyone to complete its story” has been designed around the assumption you have Waver for at least a year and a half. Arguably as far back as all the way since Camelot. And it shows for those like me who have been climbing an uphill battle reliant on supports since Camelot, who will likely only get Waver via the free 5 star, which has me forced to give up a character I actually LIKE, such as Karna, Napoleon, Enkidu, or Ganesha. To say NOTHING of players who try to start *after* both the 20m campaign AND the sixth anniversary. [apparently sixth anniversary free 5 star will actually be permanent. Never in a million years did i think the game eould be that generous with how much it loves missable welfares. Regardless, smart line drawing. Gross, that that’s where the line is, but smart.] Although by 2024 there’s a good chance this game will either have to be overhauled or be outright dead on its feet.
…..god I wish i was rich…it’d be so much more fun than having to care about ethics or good design…
#fgo#fuck dw#fuck aniplex#fuck nasu#fuck fate#fate: grand order#fate go#lostbelt 6#really has destroyed what little balance remained after Alterjuna#ashiya douman#looks dope as hell tho#and a ton of my favorite servants are chaotic evil#so yeah probably at least gonna try for him. im hateful not stupid.#i also dont even know#oberon#‘s story but I absolutely know I need him as badly as I do Barge#hard pass on#castoria#though#please do not mistake this as being proud of playing gacha games for 8 years

You play dnd right? What's the campaign you're playing and who's your character? I'm running a campaign right now so I'd love to hear more about it!
So basically, our campaign is currently our team going around searching ruins for various reasons (including a morally ambiguous genie) with a tiefling bard who grew up super rich, a Chad human wizard, a half elf trickster cleric, a SUPER ancient warforged (like, think ancient Egypt compared to midevil times), and my halfling war cleric. He's an adorable gay bean, and everyone loves him. And all of his op magic items (6d6+1d10 on a single attack... on top of an item that gives boosted crits [max roll plus whatever] although we keep the d6s seprate...)

Different anon ... I would like to know more about storyberg dundy 👀
so, one day dundy was reading tasha's cauldron of everything and happened to stumble upon the eloquence bard. he rolls stats for a human bard (inspiring leader feat) with the noble background. it's a very CHA-heavy build, with the proficiency in persuasion and the temporary hp that relies on his CHA mod. he also puts his expertise into persuasion and performance, since, you know. he's playing a bard.
he gives his character some super long super fancy name. as is the wont of most parties, they say "oh cool okay ser ball is life 877-CASH-NOW hey macarena, we're gonna call you 'balls'." dundy's cool with this.
he's a natural social butterfly so playing such a high-CHA character is easy for him. the only thing is, he leans very heavily into the horny bard thing. there's nothing he likes more than rolling a 33 off a nat 20 to make it clap. most of his crits are for performance checks. some of the more combat-oriented players get frustrated when he bypasses entire combat encounters with only a well-placed wink. he's very invested in roleplay inasmuch as it involves comical seduction.
one of their campaign arcs involves infiltrating a party held at the manor of some duke or count or something of that ilk. the members of the group who can disguise themselves (such as fitzjames' character with their entertainer background) do so, and help the others dress up. dundy's character elects to do none of that. the rest of the table figures he's going to do his usual bullshit-- go in without a care in the world and be buoyed by a combination of dick magic and DM lenience.
they arrive at the party. they mingle, or try to be as unobtrusive as possible. their mark, a nobleman with connections to the enemy, who may either be a very rich pawn or something entirely more sinister, doesn't suspect a thing from them. dundy's character sidles up to him and begins to make small talk. as usual, he's overly-familiar, saccharine and unctuous, and the table waits for the inevitable performance check. the nobleman says, "excuse me, but i believe we've not yet been introduced."
"oh," says balls, "but we have," and shows him his signet ring.
"what?" says crozier. "my character also says 'what.'"
bridgens (who's the DM now i've decided) doesn't seem phased at all. in fact, he's got that smile he gets when the party ventures further into the meat of the plot without knowing. "ah!" he says, and checks something in his notes. "the nobleman looks at your signet ring and you see his face slowly start to drain of color. again, he says, 'i believe we've not yet been introduced.' i'd like an insight check from you."
"may i also roll?" asks fitzjames, to which bridgens nods. it's a 19 for him and a 23 for dundy, but it doesn't take much to tell the nobleman is lying through his teeth, and poorly, at that.
"good," says dundy.
"good?!" exclaims crozier.
"now i'd like to use a bardic inspiration for unsettling words as a bonus action, and then i'm going to cast fear."
"alright," bridgens tells him. "now, before you do that, i'd like you to tell me what you say to him."
dundy thinks for a moment. then, balls speaks, his words quiet and almost intimate as he bends to the nobleman's ear and whispers, "i hope you've learned to be more careful about who your men fail to kill. it's so much easier than divorce." then he winks.
bridgens rolls a 19 on the d20 and a 3 on the d8, failing dundy's WIS save by 1. the other partygoers in the cone also fail, but the real prize is the way the man who paid to have ser ball is life 877-CASH-NOW hey macarena killed flees down the stairs and into the cellar, which as of yet had remained locked.

One thing that I see a lot of people do, is change the stats of monsters during fights, especially in D&D 5e. That’s fine, it’s okay to do that, especially if you realize that this big encounter is going WAY too easily (and not because the group got some lucky rolls or smart planning).
I have a story of one time that I was a player, and the DM decided to change some stats of a monster mid fight. This will be an example of a BAD way to do it.
To start, this campaign has a setting of a split world-- One realm is magic, the other realm is not, and they’re starting to bleed into each other. The party are all high school students at a weird rich kid boarding school.
One encounter took place during a soccer match, and the away team had transformed into werewolves.
During the fight, my character, a Warlock, casted “Crown of Stars”. During that round, a massive Hydra flew onto the soccer field (it was the leader of the force that caused werewolves to appear).
The sorcerer took a few shots at it, but as Hydras do, it healed the health back because it wasn’t fire damage.
Then it came back around to my turn-- and I used my action to cast Eldritch Blast. We were level 11 or 12 or so, so there was three beams.
The first beam was a crit, which I rolled max damage form. Since it was a crit, it was also doubled.
The second beam wasn’t a crit, but it was max damage.
The third beam was a crit, but I rolled less than max damage, and it was doubled.
Then, Bonus Action to throw a Star from my Crown of Stars. Crit, maxed + doubled damaged.
The DM let out a sputter, before saying the Hydra was still up. I was proud of myself, because I just did way more damage than that Hydra could ever hope to heal before my next turn.
However, the Hydra fled the scene. I assumed it was almost dead.
Retreat is a fair option.
The DM, during this, changed the HP of the Hydra so that I almost killed it, instead of killing it completely. Which is fine and dandy, that’s okay.
HOWEVER, the reason I know this, is because the DM then told the party, after the session, that I would’ve killed the Hydra if she didn’t change the HP.
THAT is what makes this a bad example of changing stats during a battle.
1. She changed the HP because I got VERY lucky rolls.
2. She TOLD the party she changed the HP during the fight.
No matter what, do not admit that you changed the stats during combat to your party. It will leave a bad taste in their mouths, especially if the reason is “because you would’ve killed it”

Weird D&D Tales #1:
The first character I ever played was a Half-Orc Monk who had been left as a baby at a monastery. He was meant to be a pacifist who used his high Charisma score to negotiate his way out of conflicts. Instead he managed to Crit...a LOT, with a DM who ruled that Critical Hits could not be non-lethal. Which led to some NAT 20 moments such as catching a thrown spear and sending it back into the chest of a attacker, punching a hole through the skull of a Drake, pushing his thumb through the eye socket of a Kobold and into it's brain, riding a Manticore like a wild bucking bull and punching it to death, and later even beating a Hydra to death barehanded.
Eventually through circumstances that involved dealing with evil magic, inadvertently killing many creatures/enemies, and some IRL jokes from the table, he would start capturing slaves as his moral compass inverted. Originally they were intended to just be regular prisoners, but during our campaign epilogue we decided that they were forced to work in a exotic brothel for rich patrons (the brothel including a Kobold, Sahuagin Priestess, and Gnoll Packleader to start). Basically having my originally peaceful Monk turn into a bloodthirsty and cruel villain by adventure conclusion (which was messed up and completely the opposite of who I had intended to play, but made for a better story/twist with how events panned out).
My companions would also have weird endings as well. Our Dwarf Sorcerer going on to create bound elementals to sell to foreign armies (eventually making her filthy rich). Allowing her to spend the rest of her days as the wealthy Duchess of the small city we had founded (our campaign went into "City Building Sim" midway through). While the Goliath Barbarian ended up binding his soul to a magic ring that he had attached to the hilt of his axe, so that when he dies his soul would become bound to the weapon. Then the Barbarian left with his pregnant Sea Hag wife (please...don't ask) to adventure in the Fae Wilds (with him IRL intending to maybe do a sequel character as the daughter of the pair, who would be a changeling in possession of the axe containing her father).
Meanwhile I have been thinking constantly that it would be great to someday turn my Monk into a minor villain or even the BBEG of a future campaign.
