#the exact opposite to what papyrus has intended

Deeply amused that the parasites are initially presented as a terrible and creepy threat who have taken over literally every other monster in the Underground in a sort of radical zombie apocalypse, yet when they're trying to take over Papyrus and he makes a number of demands, their response is 'we literally cannot say no or We Will Die. You're seeking a way to separate your brother from one of our own, which may result in said parasite dying, but we still have No Choice But To Agree.' It's a tragic situation that Fly and his brother were brought to this point to begin with but it's very morbidly humorous to me.
Yeah, I mean. They're my own parasites I get to say what they can and can't do. I say that they're weak lil bitches when confronted with two chronic insomniacs. Lucky for them the people they couldn't manage to possess Also aren't. You know. Insane people who want to kill everyone who's possessed.
These parasites take over through a calculated attack. They communicate to get the exact number of people they need to possess and plan who should be infected first by observing the patterns of intended targets for a short time. They likely figured everyone but those two guys who will have to sleep eventually is fine.
Mostly I chose this powerset because it was needed for the story I wanted to tell and the outcome I wanted. Also because I wanted to differentiate them from canon Fresh who I don't think has any restrictions to who they can possess. Human, monster, asleep, awake, willing, not. Don't think it's ever been stated who they can't possess, excluding soulless people.
Someone on deviantart mentioned Flowey hiding and you know what. That's fair. Flowey probably is losing his mind. Then again I set this pre-canon by a good while (Papyrus isn't wearing his battle body which is at least two weeks old). So you could just interpret it as him not having woken up yet, or not having been made. If he just isn't awake yet. Man. He's going to be real confused about his parents huh gbdsjkgdbsjgkdsfbk
But anyways.
Papyrus is just really cool and powerful and even though we all know he would never kill them it's a better chance for everyone else if they let him fuck off into the multiverse hoping the parasite will kill him by letting it feed off of him for long enough (another thing specific to this parasite is that essentially the parasites can live the entire lifespan of that monster in the same body as long as they don't put unnecessary strain on the soul - like traveling the multiverse - the opposite is implied to be true for the OG Fresh, where the possessed person will probably die sooner or later. Spoilers though, I am making the parasite and Papyrus become friends. Not in this comic, just, that's how it goes after the fact. CQ once stated that the more Fresh possesses one person the more it can feel (not sure if that still applies) so I'm going to have the same apply here, but them communicating through Papyrus' soul will definitely make that worse/speed it up. So they're besties. Wouldn't be the first time Papyrus has befriended a soulless creature.)

THE POSITIVE & NEGATIVE; MUN & MUSE - MEME
FILL OUT & REPOST ♥ This meme definitely favors canons more, but I hope OC’s still can make it somehow work with their own lore, and lil’ fandom of friends & mutuals. Multi-Muses pick the muse you are the most invested in atm.
Tumblr media
Stolen from @mrfunnybone. Since this meme has a bias for canon muses, I’m tagging two of my favorite canon writers that I know didn’t fill this out yet: @soulcoerced and @spearslinger (I wonder if a fellow Undyne RPer has a different take on some of these questions? ^^;;). For everyone else, feel free to steal it and tag me if you do! I’m curious to see how OC muns answer some of these questions...
MY MUSE IS:   CANON / oc / au / canon-divergent / fandomless / complicated [[ The adult version of my muse is canon, but her teenage equivalent is not present anywhere in Undertale / Deltarune. So, uh… canon but kind of complicated I guess??? I like describing my muse as canon-wise. My Deltarune fishies are undoubtedly AUs at most, canon-divergent at least. ]]
[[ Mun’s note: I’m going to cheat on this. For the next 8 questions, I’ll answer for both Undyne as my teen muse AND regular adult canon Undertale Undyne. My thoughts on her counts as something, right? My muse is based on canon! ]]
Is your character popular in the fandom? YES / NO / IDK [[ Undyne’s character to the rest of the fandom is unpopular (compared to Sans, Chara, Gaster, etc…). It’s a shame, because her dialogue portraits alone would make great meme fodder. HOWEVER, among Undyne fans, I notice there’s an interest in depicting her early years because she’s one of the few cast members who’s had their childhood explicitly mentioned. ]]
Is your character considered hot™ in the fandom?  YES / NO / IDK [[ She’d better not be, because my muse is a  C H I L D. As far as I’ve seen, canon adult Undyne is depicted more often as a ‘badass’ than a ‘sexy fish.’ ]]
Is your character considered strong in the fandom?  YES / NO / IDK [[ Younger Undyne is definitely interpreted to be a determined, tough kid. Of course it’s the same for adult canon Undyne. It’s basically her most distinct character trait. ]]
Are they underrated?  YES / NO / IDK [[ Lordy, Undyne as a whole is entirely underrated by the fandom... ]]
Were they relevant for the main story?  YES / NO [[ OMG... you’re gonna get me started. I’m marking ‘no’ on this question because this is supposed to be about my aged-down muse. But Undyne... sweet violent Undyne’s very important to Undertale’s story! *fangirling START* Besides being the mid-point antagonist in the game, Undyne adds a layer of the theme of DETERMINATION to the game and how it can manifest in monsters if their bodies are strong enough to handle it. In an allegorical sense, she represents extremism in reaction to oppression and how that passion can take on the form of extreme love or extreme hatred depending on circumstance. So HELL YEAH she’s important to the main story of the game! AAAHILoveThisFish!! *fangirling END* ]]
Were they relevant for the main character? YES / NO / THEY’RE THE PROTAG. [[ Same as the previous answer for my teen Undyne: begrudgingly marking this with a ‘no’... It’s a YES for canon Undyne. In all routes, original game’s Undyne is the first character who is purposefully trying to kill the Player. Players can’t get the best ending without helping her hook up with Alphys and not incurring her wrath by killing any monster. In the worst ending, she’s one of the two antagonists that put up enough of a fight to make any player abort the Genocide Route. ]]
Are they widely known in their world? YES / NO [[ My muse WANTS to be significant to her world. In the original game, Undyne’s only mentioned by others in Snowdin and Waterfall (not counting Alphys in Hotland). She’s described as a “local hero” by Gerson. I get a sense she’s not exactly famous to the people in the entire Underground compared to, say, Mettaton. ]]
How’s their reputation?  GOOD / BAD / NEUTRAL [[ Oof. Pretty sure my teen fish annoys the residence of Waterfall for being a loud-mouthed little scamp. The only reason she’s not considered ‘bad’ is because it’s pent-up energy and misguidedness, not flat-out cruelty. In canon, it seems like the people who talk about Undyne do it in either a positive or neutral light. You have Monster Kid, Papyrus, and Onionsan singing her praises. The Royal Guard members respect her. Asgore thought of her well enough to have her lead his military. Uhh, for a neutral instance, I remember an NPC in Snowdin saying she’s “loud, rude, and beats up anybody who gets in her way” (I don’t remember the exact quote). To weigh this more on the side of my muse, I’ll mark this answer as ‘neutral.’ ]]
HOW STRICTLY DO YOU FOLLOW CANON?  [[ Since I have an aged-down character, canon is literally my END GOAL! I gave her a “starting point” on her journey to the determined, dedicated, and excitable warrior fish we all know and love from the game. I filled in the gaps from there, using parts of her past mentioned in the game to glue the headcanons together. Deciding what she was like when she was younger – What’s her family background? What aspects about her changed as she matures? What internal and external conflicts would she deal with as a teen? – THAT’S the non-canon part. My Deltarune AUs are… different. Canon is my end goal too, but the timelines are all wonky to fit the needs of wanting to interact with the Fun Gang. LOL ]]
SELL YOUR MUSE! AKA TRY TO LIST EVERYTHING, WHICH MAKES YOUR MUSE INTERESTING IN YOUR OPINION TO MAKE THEM SPICY FOR YOUR MUTUALS.   [[ This kid is spunky, loyal, compassionate of the plight of her people, and will see through anything she sets her mind to, despite life’s barriers. She’s got a lot of pent-up energy and is searching for what she can do with it to help her achieve her goal of setting Monsterkind free! ]]
NOW THE OPPOSITE, LIST EVERYTHING WHY YOUR MUSE COULD NOT BE SO INTERESTING (EVEN IF YOU MAY NOT AGREE, WHAT DOES THE FANDOM PERHAPS THINK?).  [[ The teen fishy has a streak of selfishness and short-sightedness. Being honest, Undyne would be a racial supremacist if she existed in real life. Big yikes. Also, she’s willingly being trained as a child soldier. Another big yikes right there. ]]
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO RP YOUR MUSE?   [[ Ages ago, I RPed the adult version of Undyne, which resulted in a bunch of headcanons for her past. I had no desire to RP any of them after it ended. A year later, I commissioned an artist for a Gerson vs. teen Undyne piece. That single-handedly made me want to get back into RPing again. ]]
WHAT KEEPS YOUR INSPIRATION GOING?   [[ My fellow RPers wanting to interact with this silly fishy! When I first started, I expected my interest to peter out over the months. I didn’t expect many RPers wanting to interact with an aged-down character. But here I am, wanting to expand my headcanons further and making AUs so I’m not limited to canon. ^^ It’s all thanks to you guys!! ]]
SOME MORE PERSONAL QUESTIONS FOR THE MUN.
Give your mutuals some insight about the way you are in some matters, which could lead them to get more comfortable with you or perhaps not.
Do you think you give your character justice?  YES / NO / I SINCERELY HOPE I DO?
Do you frequently write headcanons?  YES / NO / SORT OF?     [[ I should do it more often TBH. But I find showing them via story-telling more fulfilling than just explicitly explaining them in posts. Plus, it gives me more leeway if I’m still playing around with an idea. ;) ]]
Do you sometimes write drabbles?  YES / NO  [[ I’m not counting the three pending drabbles until I finish them. ^^;; ]]
Do you think a lot about your Muse during the day? YES / NO [[ She finds a way to bother me! Usually in the form of sudden inspiration for how to respond to RPs. ]]
Are you confident in your portrayal? YES / NO / SORT OF? [[ Sometimes I wonder if I forgot some aspect about Undyne that’s in canon, or unintentionally exaggerating other less-important aspects of her other characteristics… ]]
Are you confident in your writing?  YES / NO / SORT OF? [[ Generally, yes. But I do have my days when I suffer from low self-confidence. ]]
Are you a sensitive person?  YES / NO. / SORT OF? [[ It depends on what’s meant by that. I’m sensitive to other people’s feelings, so I don’t intend to sound rude OOC, even if I’m expressing something negative about something I think the other did. If this is referring to being sensitive about events in RPs… my sensitivity is equivalent to that of being invested in any work of fiction. I know it’s not reality. I can pull away from the fictional world and it won’t bring down my real life. ]]
DO YOU ACCEPT CRITICISM WELL ABOUT YOUR PORTRAYAL?   [[ If it’s given in good faith and is constructive, sure. ]]
DO YOU LIKE QUESTIONS, WHICH HELP YOU EXPLORE YOUR CHARACTER?   [[ Hell yeah, give them to me! ]]
IF SOMEONE DISAGREES TO A HEADCANON OF YOURS, DO YOU WANT TO KNOW WHY?  [[ It depends if they want to tell me. I don’t mind either way. Personally, I like hearing other people’s interpretations! ]]
IF SOMEONE DISAGREES WITH YOUR PORTRAYAL, HOW WOULD YOU TAKE IT?   [[ *shrug* It doesn’t matter as long as they don’t harass me. ]]
IF SOMEONE REALLY HATES YOUR CHARACTER, HOW DO YOU TAKE IT?   [[ I’d just ignore it. They don’t need to interact or follow me. If my muse really is a bother to them, they can block my account. ]]
ARE YOU OKAY WITH PEOPLE POINTING OUT YOUR GRAMMATICAL ERRORS?   [[ I hope my grammar’s good enough, or else my English degree studies went to waste! But yeah, sure. Fun fact: explaining grammar rules so people can avoid major errors in the future is more helpful than nit-picking insignificant errors without explanations. ]]
DO YOU THINK YOU ARE EASY GOING AS A MUN?   [[ As long as fellow RPers aren’t being rude OOC, don’t break any serious rules, or do something that I mention are personal triggers to me, I am easy-going! RPing is fun and it should stay that way for everybody involved! ]]

Narrator-Chara AU head cannons?
I personally don’t subscribe to the narrator Chara theory, since some evidence is given that the narrator switches over to Chara in the Genocide route. I think that if the narrator was meant to be any character, it might be Gaster, but I do love a lot of the things that have come from the theory of Chara being Frisk’s spiritual guide.
So, here’s my take on the idea.
- Chara’s presence isn’t completely detectable. Frisk, nor anyone else really, can actually see her. Sometimes, Frisk might get a fleeting glimpse of a humanoid silhouette floating about, but that’s it.
- She does, however, hear Chara. And whenever she decides to make herself known, she does so loudly. It’s impossible to ignore her. Her narration would undoubtedly be different than what’s seen in canon Undertale.
- Chara gets extremely frustrated with Frisk whenever she doesn’t follow her instructions or advice to the letter. She’s not above filling the background around Frisk that would normally be peaceful and quiet with senseless noise, if only to convey how displeased she is.
- Frisk doesn’t know that her ‘guide’ is Chara, so she just gives her the fitting nickname, ‘the banshee’.
- To accurately describe what it’d be like to have her accompany Frisk on her adventure, imagine trying to play a game and your ‘friend’ keeps talking all the way through it, badgering you to pick certain choices.
- Chara was a handful already throughout Frisk’s journey through the Ruins, but she gets worse when they reach Snowdin. She groans, loudly I might add, whenever Sans makes a pun. She heckles and boos him, even though he can’t hear her. She’s constantly making fun of Papyrus behind his back, up to the point that it has the exact opposite effect Chara intended and just made Frisk feel sympathetic for him.
- Chara also makes gagging sounds all throughout Frisk’s date with Sans at Grillby’s. It gets so bad that, later at MTT’s restaurant, Sans never does quite finish what he had to say because Frisk cannot hear him over Chara’s childish ranting. She gets up and excuses herself, and Sans is a little concerned that she might be mad at him.
- In fact, regardless of how Frisk actually feels about several monsters, Frisk may have been spurred to be kind to and befriend them, if only to spite Chara in the beginning. She spares Undyne because Chara keeps telling her to kill her. She talks to Alphys because Chara keeps calling her a lonely nerd and a sad weeb. Friendships borne of spite.
- Despite everything, though, Frisk can’t really say that she dislikes Chara. If anything, she’s like an annoying little sister that Frisk never really asked for but has now.
“I’m like... maybe hundreds of years older than you, you know.”
“Then please act like it.”

The Underlying Christian Symbolism in Undertale: The Seven Deadly Soul Modes
Welcome to a theory series where I explore the latent religious symbolism in the 2015 video game Undertale. Now, I quick disclaimer before we begin: I don’t think that Undertale is at all intended to be a primarily or even secondarily religious game; like all video games, it was designed first to entertain. That being said, the more I look into the deeper mysteries and unanswered questioned of Undertale, the more I can’t help but shake the idea that the game content is drawing much more from religious elements than most people would expect. For Exhibit A: The 7 Soul Modes.
Tumblr media
Throughout the game, the “Soul” is used to represent the avatar of the player whenever they enter battles. They are also used, as Flowey says, to symbolize the “culmination of a person’s very being”, both yours and the characters around you. Souls and the differences between human and monster souls play a pivotal role in the lore of Undertale. Human souls are represented as upright colored hearts while monster souls are inverted white hearts. The player soul is red, but in the course of the game we encounter 6 other human souls colored light blue, dark blue, green, orange, yellow, and purple. These colors are said to correspond with the seven human children who fell into the Underground before us (the first human child also possessed a red soul, similar to ours). Also, by digging into the gameplay a bit we find that the six colors correspond to six virtues: light blue for patience, dark blue for integrity, green for kindness, orange for bravery, yellow for justice and purple for perseverance. It’s unknown exactly what the red soul represents, though it’s theorized to be a combination of all the others, the embodiment of love, or determination.
So far, all of this is well known among the fandom. But what if I told you that the seven souls not only correspond to humans and virtues, but to monsters and the seven deadly sins?
The first part of this may not be a surprise; it’s pretty obvious that some soul are associated with the monsters who will activate them on you during battle. Interestingly, every major boss in the game WHO’S NOT A DREEMURR (Toriel, Asgore, and Asriel) uses at least one soul mode on you. Papyrus will turn your soul dark blue during a fight, Undyne green, during Mettaton’s fight you’ll be turned yellow, and purple during Muffet’s. Light blue and orange are not encountered as direct soul modes, but they are seen in bullet attacks; a light bullet requires you to remain motionless to avoid harm while orange requires you to do the exact opposite and run through it to avoid injury. Though these attacks are not directly linked to any particular monsters, for the purpose of my theory I believe light blue is linked to Sans while orange is linked to Alphys, as both of these characters are the ones who respectively explain their attacks.
So now we have six soul colors coded to six monsters: dark blue for Papyrus, light blue for Sans, Green for Undyne, Orange for Alpyhs, Yellow for Mettaton, and Purple for Muffet. Here’s where it starts to get interesting.
Each of these characters exhibit one of the Seven Deadly Sins. For those of you who need a refresher theological course, the Seven Deadly Sins are Sloth, Greed, Envy, Wrath, Lust, Gluttony, and Pride. While all of these behaviors are at various points condemned in the Bible (Proverbs 6:9, 21:26, 27:4, 22:24,6:25, and 23:21, for those of you who really want to look it up) lumping them together as a group and elevating them to “The” Seven Deadly Sins is a product of the Catholic church; they are not distinguished from other sins in the Bible. Regardless, each character shows one of these traits.
Tumblr media
We’ll start with the most obvious one: Undyne struggles with Wrath. I don’t really have to argue this one since her first, second, third, and fourth encounter with the player character involve repeatedly attempting to pincushion them with spears, regardless of whether or not the player has harmed anyone. Even after making friends with Undyne, she still shows many unsettling violent tendencies.
Tumblr media
The next most obvious Sin correlation is Muffet, who clearly embodies Greed. Anyone who would try to charge you 9999 gold for a croissant roll clearly has an unhealthy love of money that goes beyond trying to raise cash for a good cause.
Tumblr media
Papyrus is a bit tricky, because many would say that his character’s fatal flaw is Pride. He certainly does act conceited and narcissistic when you first get to know him, and his overly-inflated ego never quite goes away. However, the longer the character gets to know Papyrus, the less it seems that Pride is really his defining trait, and in any case, there’s another person on this list that deserves it more. Papyrus really seems to struggle with Envy more than pride; all of his bravado and self-touting big talk is really the result of longing to be more popular and prestigious. Papyrus envies Undyne’s position as captain of the Royal Guard, he envies the popularity of others, the massive amounts of friends, prestige, fame, and “showers of kisses” that he imagines his idols to have at their disposal. He envies the life of a celebrity and wants it for himself. For this reason I would say that Papyrus most strongly exhibits the sin of Envy.
Tumblr media
Going next to the lovable skeleton’s brother, we find Sans, who’s Deadly Sin has to be gluttony. Now, many would argue that Sans should be associated with Sloth, since his character is repeatedly described as lazy and slacking off by Papyrus. Sans certainly makes an effort to come off as a lackadaisical goofball, with his lame puns and illegal hot dog stands, but a closer look reveals that this lazy joker routine is a ruse, at least in part, designed to throw unsuspecting players off guard should they wander down the wrong path. When we finally do get the chance to fight Sans, we find that quite the opposite from being lazy he’s easily the hardest fighting and most skilled opponent we ever face. More than that, we constantly get clues in the game that Sans is FAR more active than he seems: he can be seen constantly following us and keeping tabs on our location, he’s running multiple oddball jobs all while maintaining a position in the Royal Guard, taking care of brother Papyrus, and apparently, if the hidden room behind his house is to be trusted, doing scientific research on the side. Sans will even flat out admit to us that his brother is dead wrong about him being lazy, should we choose to insult Papyrus during the time we hang out with Sans at Grillby’s. Though he never bothers to correct his brother, it seems obvious that behind the scenes, this skeleton is working his tailbone off (Sans pun; I apologize)
On the other hand, there’s nothing feigned about San’s love of food. While many other characters in the game (Toriel, Undyne, Muffet, Mettaton, ) do show interest in cooking and food, Sans is repeatedly asking us to come out to eat with him. Half of his side jobs and side scams involve peddling food to people. He chugs an entire bottle of ketchup right in front of us at Grillby’s and stacks over twenty hot dogs on our head when we run out of room in our pockets. If that isn’t gluttony, I don’t know what is.
Tumblr media
Sans may not deserve the label of Sloth, but Alphys does. Obviously, there’s her otaku anime binge-watching habits to out her into this category, but the issue of Sloth seems to go much deeper with her character: it’s less about pure laziness and more about trying to avoid responsibility. Certainly we see signs that Alphys can and does work incredibly hard at times; Mettaton’s body and the True Lab are proof of that. However, the True Lab journal entries reveal another side of Alphys: her refusal to own up to her mistakes. Alphys makes a habit of running from her problems instead of facing them; hiding from the angry letters of the amalgamates families, Asgore’s phone calls, and really anything that makes her feel bad. She lies to avoid others thinking poorly of her rather than doing the work to fix the problems she created. For that reason, this dinosaur scientist gets the label of Sloth.
Tumblr media
It should come as no surprise that Mettaton is guilty of the deadliest sin, Pride. Unlike Papyrus, his massive ego DOES seem to be his defining trait; he has the flamboyance and charisma (sort of) to pull that off into appearing a successful television icon, but throughout the entire time we know him he really does seem to think that everything is all about him, and he’s more than a little willing to hurt others (Napstablook, Alphys, the player) to get the and glory he deserves. He may be humorous to watch, but arrogance really is a fatal flaw for Mettaton.
So this leaves us with one sin left: Lust. At first, I couldn’t find anyone who fit this trait; Undertale is more or less designed to be a kid friendly game, none of the characters are openly lewd or provocative. None of them seem to be particularly sex-driven either; aside from possibly Dogamy and Dogaressa, both of whom seem far too minor to fill this role. I tried squeezing random awkward choices to fill the category of “lust” within the game: Aaron, Tsundereplane, Moldsmal, even Toriel, but none of them came even close to fitting the pattern. It seemed my theory had finally fallen apart on this last point. And then I realized that the answer had been staring me right in the face the whole time.
In fact, there IS one character in Undertale who seems to be completely hormone driven, flirting with literally anything that dares to stumble across their path. And wouldn’t you know it; it’s the character associated with the final soul mode. You know who I’m talking about: it’s Frisk, the human child and the player character.
There have already been plenty of jokes about how excessively Frisk likes to flirt with things, (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6HtHIYKJXh0) but the more I think about it, the more I have to agree with Toriel, something is not quite right with this kid. Frisk apparently has no compunctions flirting with a goat, a skeleton, a piece of sentient mold, a fish lady, a dinosaur, a volcano, an airplane, a robot, and a clinically depressed ghost. Maybe it’s all played off in a cutesy childish way, but that is some Jack Harkniss level of over the top flirtation. Yes, it may be a family friendly way to depict lust, but it’s lust nonetheless.
Tumblr media
So their you have it. The Seven Soul modes in Undertale correspond not only to their respective virtues but also to their associated Sins; Green to Wrath, Purple to Greed, Light Blue to Gluttony, Dark Blue to Envy, Orange to Sloth, Yellow to Pride, and Red to Lust. This correlation seems to be at least partially intentional on the part of Toby Fox; it always bothered me how Muffet was the only mini-boss to get her own exclusive soul mode, but it makes sense if these there to fill out the number. It also helps explain why none of the Dreemurr family members have easy to pin down obvious flaw, unlike the other main characters; they’re the only bosses not to use soul modes, and each of them seems to have a more complex and deeply woven role into the history of monsters than the other characters. In fact, two of these characters in particular bear striking resemblances to two very prominent Biblical figures; but that’s the subject for another post. See you next time!

Cruel and Unusual Judgment (ゴッドモードアーク(Goddomodoaku)) (God-mode Arc)
Finding a proper restaurant that would serve monsters and humans was difficult, but they found one: Sly Tennor's Tie and Fry. It was actually a somewhat contradictory name to how the food was actually prepared. "I can't believe it took us 20 GODDAMN MINUTES TO GET HERE!" Undyne complained loudly. "Finally, someone gets it! Why is it always so hard to find a restaurant that serves monsters and humans?!" Chara agreed. "Well, doesn't F-Frisk have to mention that at s-some point?" Asked Alphys. "Don't think 'Frisky Dingo' has the power to talk about the segregation of monsters in restaurants. You guys can't even eat our food." "Uhh, actually, yes, we can, Chara. It's just that our bodies are made of mostly nothing but magic with a very small amount of physical substance." Asriel countered. He then poked Chara's stomach. "Your physical composition is THE EXACT OPPOSITE. Your body is made of mostly nothing but physical matter with a very small amount of magical composition." "HOW DO YOU KNOW ABOUT THAT?! I thought only Alphys knew! I don't even know what humans are made of!" Undyne frantically called for an answer. "First of all, humans like Chara are made up of a great many things, the most prominent being H2O, also known as water. It's the most basic thing a human needs to survive, but they're constantly running out, so they have to replenish their water every day by drinking water. Second, come on, Undyne! What, you think I wouldn't use my power to learn something at some point? It was in one of the books I read, and then burned." "Strange. I just thought you were interested in killing people, just like your mom and dad." Sans quiped. "Sans. No. Just...just no. Stop." Chara put her foot down. "Whatever. Like I said, when we get tables, you four stay away from Papyrus and I." Sans added while emptying his eyesockets and pointing an accusational finger at the Dreemurrs. Sans was not in the mood to be near them for Papyrus' sake. After they all got inside, they got seated. Things have never been as awkward as they were in that moment. The Dreemurrs sitting at least one table away from Sans and Papyrus while Sans has empty eyesockets the entire time, even having Alphys and Undyne as a barrier between them. Toriel felt ashamed of herself. Sans doesn't trust me anymore, she thought. He doesn't trust any of us anymore. She decided to get up and try to talk to Sans. "Mom, don't. Sans ain't gonna like it." Chara warned while noticing the judge's left eyesocket. Toriel sat back down per Chara's request and out of fear of what could happen if she crossed the boundaries that were laid out. "We really messed up, didn't we, sis?" Asked Asriel sadly. "No. If we simply messed up, things wouldn't have ended up like this. Sans isn't normally cool with people who have killed at least once before, but BOY, DID WE FUCK UP." "Yes. We cannot just act like what we said was not the truth. We did do what we did. But that does not mean that we cannot regain his trust. We can. It will take some time, but perhaps Sans will stop holding it against us eventually." Asgore said sagely. "What makes you think that, dad? Look at him. Both of his pupils are gone. And if both of his pupils are gone, that's how you know he's serious. So why do you think we can regain Sans' trust?" "I...do not know. Perhaps Sans has actually already forgiven us, but he is scared for Frisk's life. He believes we would end up killing him again. And keep in mind that because there are a lot of humans on the surface, there is an extremely strong chance that this time, Frisk's death would be final." None of the Dreemurrs noticed, but Sans was listening the entire time. "So what you're saying is Sans is just...being overprotective?" Asked Asriel in a depressed tone. "Yes. He deserves the right to be. He has 2 brothers, both of them he loves very much despite the fact that one tried to kill the other, and he just found out that one of them is in constant danger because he is living with your mother and sister." "Yes. What self-respecting person would not be alarmed by that?" Responded a guilt-ridden Toriel. "Sans is right to reject us. We were the royal family, and we were supposed to set an example, but instead, we let our past problems, and their ramifications, catch up to us because they went unsolved and ruin innocent people's lives. We truly are the very worst." Toriel gave out herself an unusual amount of brutal honesty. She was ashamed of herself, and couldn't sense Sans walking to her family as she hung her head in shame while shedding more tears. "You're right, you know." Sans judged in a harsh tone. "Sans. I am sorry that I kept pretending to be a perfect mother to Frisk. No mother should do what I did and be allowed to be called one. I do not deserve to be around Frisk anymore. That being said, I want you to know right now that none of us intend to harm or kill Frisk. And if we gave you the impression that Frisk is no longer safe with us, we are truly, sincerely sorry." Toriel's tears started flowing out faster as she lost her mettle to speak to her friend. "And if you looked up to us, and felt like you were betrayed, it was not our intentions. I should not have kept anything a secret from you. We are sorry." "Tori, enough. I know you guys really are remorseful. I'm just telling you what you need to hear at this point. You guys were the inspiration for a great many of our people. All that's happened is you guys admitting you're not perfect, and that's a good thing because in truth, ya ain't. And it's okay to not be perfect. Ya ain't supposed to be. A lot of monsters think you guys are, but in reality, you're all just like the rest of us. Everybody forgets that people with status and renoun are, or at least were, exactly like everybody else at some point. Why? Because they idolize those people. And because those people are idolized, they feel pressure to live up to that status everyone thinks they're in. But right now, I'm seeing the Dreemurrs as they really are: people who made mistakes just like the rest of us. Biggest thing that sets you and other celebs apart is that you guys are being brutally honest with yourselves now. There is, however, one thing you didn't do just yet. You never forgave yourselves for what you did or what happened. Wasn't Asgore's fault he had to kill humans just to help his kind. Wasn't Asriel's fault he lost his soul. Wasn't Chara's fault that she wasn't treated the best before she fell down. Wasn't your fault that Frisk killed you, but you got angry for that happening to you. Perfectly reasonable reaction. To make things worse, you got clouded, to an extent, by people's praise of you, and it caused you to forget that you're not THAT special. That you can't judge anyone for what they do 'cause chances are if you were in their position, you probably woulda done the same thing." "You really think so, Sans?" "Think about it. When Asriel had control over the timeline in his 'fingertips', he could literally do whatever he wanted, and there would be absolutely no consequences whatsoever. Can anyone of us honestly say we wouldn't mess with that power, even if only a little bit?" They all thought about it, except for Asriel, obviously. "To be honest, I probably would have been downright cruel to Asgore if I could control time." Toriel admitted. "If I had my way, I would go back and kill every last human that treated me horribly. And then, I would make them watch me do it over, and over, and over..." Chara couldn't resist doing her creepy face at the notion. "I must admit; even as great as I am, I would go back and research all the ways to cook pasta of all types." Even Papyrus admitted to wanting that same power. "See, Tori? None of us are perfect. In fact, to be honest, if I could reset right now..." Sans closed his eyesockets and reopened them, only to make them empty. "You'd be dead where you stand for killing my brother. And so would your son." The Dreemurrs all became scared of Sans in that second. Asriel was especially shaken. "If you had that power, what would you think about it?" "That I should be responsible with it?" Toriel replied, fearful of Sans' wrath. "Ah. I see. Well, if that is the case...then why'd you kill my brother?" Toriel had no response. "Brother is right. If you're supposed to be responsible about your magic, then why did you kill Frisk with it?" Papyrus stood up, materialized a bone, and aimed it at Toriel's throat. "Papy, it's okay, baby! You don't have to do this!" Mettaton said, getting scared. "Okay, I admit it. Maybe Papyrus is a good fit for the guard. Or he would be if we still had it." Undyne confessed, visibly spooked. "Well? Aren't you going to tell me? After all, I am pretty great. Hopefully great enough to receive an answer, and, for your sake, quickly before I make you regret not giving me one." No one, not even Sans, expected Papyrus to get dangerous in that instant. Toriel had to tell the truth. "Papyrus, I only did it by mistake. I had no true intentions of killing him, just trying to make him turn back by hurting him a little. I only wa-OUCH!!" Papyrus smacked the top of her head with the aforementioned bone. "You hurt Sans and I. By killing Frisk. I know it was an accident, but this is for you to think about what you did." Papyrus then jabbed her stomach with the bone. "Okay. I will admit it. I did deserve that." Toriel managed weakly. "Ouch." The skeleton brothers went back to their separate table, somewhat satisfied. "Mom, you gonna be okay?" Asked a concerned Chara. "I will be fine. That hurt." "Good" said the skeletons in unison. After that, they sat back down at their according to the terms Sans had set for Toriel. There was an uncomfortable bitterness between the Dreemurrs and the skele-brothers. Sans attacked all 4 of them verbally, but Papyrus gave Toriel a dose of tough love. It would be a while before things simmered down between them. Eventually, the waiter got them all menus and took their orders. While they were waiting, Papyrus started thinking about what he did. "Hey, Sans, Undyne." Said Papyrus. "Do either one of you think I did the right thing? I mean, I shouldn't have done it, but I didn't like what she did to Frisk. He means a lot to me, and-" "Pap, listen. I don't think you shoulda knocked some sense into her, no matter how much she deserves it, but I also think you were just doing the same thing I was gonna do. If she's really sorry, then you and I have nothing to fear." Sans said in a warmer, more welcoming tone. "Yeah, dude. Still, didn't think you'd have the balls to do that!" Added Undyne. "I knew you were pretty strong, but what you did just now? That showed me that you held back in the past. If you fought like that, you definitely would be in the royal guard...if we still had one." "Thank you, Undyne. And thank you, brother. Still though..." "Papyrus?" "If she hurts Frisk, she's liable to get hit back. And hard. Right, Sans?" Both of Papyrus' eyesockets glowed yellow and orange. "WITHOUT QUESTION." Sans agreed with an empty right eyesocket and a glowing left one. They both waved eerily at the Dreemurrs, confirming their curent overprotective train of thought. None of the Dreemurrs had been more scared in their life. It's possible that they may end up having nightmares about it for a while. After the waiter brought the food to both tables and they finished it, they went to Sans and Papyrus' house to finish their discussion.
