I'm always frustrated when people think Tyler Galpin is a bad guy.
There is one case that frustrates me as much as it makes me laugh because there are people saying that it feels like Hanz in Frozen. A stupid twist that makes no sense with the guy's primary personality.
And I say to myself... But is this normal ? The whole principle of Tyler's character is that he seems to have two personalities ! How can people miss this ? Just the name Hyde is a sufficient answer, and to further support the reference, the psychologist herself says that Tyler seems to have two different personalities in his recordings...
So, how can you miss that ?
Also, how can you miss... I don't know, the whole scene explaining Laurel's manipulation of Tyler ?
I mean it's not subtext, we saw with our eyes this woman psychologically manipulate him through the promise of finding information on his mother and physically torture him !
Then, of course it's subtext... But the implication of Laurel's sexual abuse of Tyler is very strong and is one of the least subtle subtexts that I have seen in my life.
Have you seen how this woman touches Tyler ? Who caresses a teenager's hands / arms / face like that ?! Even the principal was fucking uncomfortable when Laurel mistook her for Tyler ! And this crazy thing is called mom ? No, really, no one understood the implication ? Not forgetting that when she tortured him, it was when he was chained completely naked. Naked. Nothing shocks you with all these elements put together ?
There's very nothing subtle about it...
Holy shit, when you rewatch the series with the truth about Tyler in mind, one of the dialogues in Laurel's carnivorous plants classes takes on a whole new meaning. When she explain this :
Personally, the first time I saw the series, I definitely felt the symbolic grooming vibes, but this dialogue was completely reinforcing and it makes me fucking want to cry every time I think about it because my god this woman is awful. The real monster of this story.

Lá, Wandinha encontra colegas lobos, vampiros, sereias e outros tipos.

Gomez and Morticia Addams got divorced. I woke up mortified and with a sense of inexplicable dread.

imagine being a thornhill hater 😂😂😂😂
Um... Is this supposed to be ironic ? Or a joke ? Don't tell me that's first degree of you defending this woman ? Of course I hate Thornhill. She manipulated a teenager before torturing him and using him as a weapon, all in a disgusting grooming metaphor ? Then she literally resuscitated Crakstone to exterminate the marginalized ? Seriously, wtf ?

Another reason I want more Addams Family with the 90s cast is I think it would be so nice to see Morticia uncorseted and aging gracefully. I don't think she'd go full Grandmama but do you really think an Addams is afraid of wrinkles and cellulite?
Look me in the eye and tell me Anjelica Huston doesn't still have it.
