Kin was trotting up the street, pulling the snack cart behind her. She was having a bit of a stretch to keep up with the bouncing Pinkie Pie! The Royal Guardsponies at the door to the Police Station where the trials were being held were at the ready and, while one stayed to guard the door and cart, the others simply started grabbing boxes and assisting with the big urns of fresh coffee, Rom black tea and hot chocolate. Nobody was surprised that Pinkie had thought of the guardsponies as well as Tribunal.

As they were finishing the snack set up, Princess Luna interrupted to say, “Sis, this lovely mare is Kindred Spirit, the one that I told you about. Kin, this is my Sister Ruler of Equestria, Princess Celestia. If you would, please take a moment to look over the charges here. Have we covered everything?”

Kin took the offered copy of the sheets of charges and the current results. She glanced through them and handed them back. “No, your Highness, there is a charge that needs documentation and to be added to the lot.”

Twilight's eyebrows rose in question, “What have we overlooked?”

“Your Highness, look into extortion. They have been tapping the tills of at least sixty seven businesses for 'voluntary contributions' which guarantee Celestia's blessing. Failure to make the payments can result in anything from broken glass, robbery, or even arson. The Ponyville Police have never solved a single case where 'Celestia's blessing' was withdrawn.

“That is not surprising. The cases were all investigated by the same five officers presently included in this trial. They were also the Temple's muscle who did the damage.

“I would be happy to assist in the investigation of four such cases, particularly the arson case connected to Minty's Sewing and Tailoring.”

Twilight's mouth formed an O of surprise and she nodded to herself. Muttering, “Of course, you read minds,” she set to quick work with her pen and handed the sheet to a waiting officer.

Turning to Kin, she sipped some tea before asking, “I know that you can read minds, but usually don't. How did you come across this and why that specific case?”

“Simple, Your Highness. Minty came along with Pinkie Pie to help sew up costumes. She mentioned it and, because she was a friend, I looked a bit for the particulars of her business' fire. When I came here, I double checked with this assortment of sludge lumps. Their minds confirmed what I found from Minty and quite a lot more. I just told you what I learned.”

Celestia gazed thoughtfully at Kin and commented, “Kin reads minds? Somehow that was not in the reports that you gave me, Sis.”

Luna shrugged both wings and shoulders at the same time as she replied, “She almost never does it and then only with restraint. Compared to the other things that she does, it is the least important thing about her. Our State Secrets are safe and that is what matters. I will brief you fully after this trial is done.”

Luna paused to work her way through a strawberry mint cruller before asking, “I did not see income from the extortion in their books. How did they hide it or did they report it at all?”

Kin smiled, “They just bundled it into the collections from regular services.”

Tightcollar thumped the defendants table and snarled, “You can't that THAT VILE MARE'S word for anything! She was profiteering from the massive act of lewdness that we were trying to stop!”

Princess Twilight asked curiously, “Oh, how was the Carousel profiting from it?”

Officer Overmark returned snidely, “You really think that them costumes and all was free? They got to be cutting themselves a fat hog on them.”

It was Pinkie Pie who cut in, “Guess what, Officer Stinkbug? They aren't charging a single copper bit for any of it! I talked to Rarity about it and she isn't even claiming it as a loss on her taxes. Said that if she did, it would not be her charity any more. It would be the Principality's.”

“Then why bother? Ain't she got no business sense? Any trace of morality?”

Kin snorted, “Look who's talking! You steal other ponies' money and wreck their property. You drove Minty out of business and then bitch about her going into dancing for the money that she needed for rent and food after YOU destroyed her shop! You are the ones who don't have any trace of morality!”

Luna grinned, and there were fangs in her grin as she asked, “Fascinating. Officer Overmark. You are under a Bridge of Dream. Did you have any part in damaging any of Ponyville's businesses?”

He looked away, eyes gone shifty as he tried to figure a way to evade the very direct question. “Um, I, uh, wasn't there when them fires started.”

Kin cheerfully filled in, “His actual answer is yes, Your Highness. He left bottles of lamp oil with a long wick that had a candle burning on it. That gave him and the others a good half hour to be away before the fire got going.”

“You is putting words into my mouth! That ain't fair!”

“Fair? You ruined the businesses and livelihoods of ponies whose only desire was to be allowed to keep the bits that they earned. You call that fair?”

From over by the snack table, Pinkie Pie chimed in, “Yep. They do call that fair! They are totally wrong, but as long as they can steal nightshift snacks too, they call it fair!”

Twilight chuckled around a mouthful of chocolate topped and strawberry filled Bismark as she admonished, “Pinkie, I know that this proceeding is informal, but it is a trial. Please hold your interruptions to a minimum. Kin is in a unique position here due to her ability to read minds.”

Turning back to the no longer Officer Overmark, she asked directly, “Aside from putting words in your mouth, Mister Overmark, was what Kin said accurate? Is that how you were not there when the fires started? Before you consider a wordy dodge, only say yes or no.”

Im gonna group the 2nd and 3rd ask together, im dutch and still live in the netherlands, so not really that exciting

I have 3 dogs, small ones but not the annoying ankle biting ones, and we do have 2 guinnea pigs, but those are my brothers

Favorite current driver is Lando. I do not know why, he is just more... down to earth to me? More approachable in a way? And he's funny and hot, which helps. The whole underdog story is also too exciting to pass on

I only started watxhing in 2021, so i dont know much about non-current drivers, but id say seb. His humour is unparalleled and he fights for the right causes

Favorite pairing is ofc carlando. Those two have a dynamic of true friends, not just work-friends. They go out with each other, go golfing and such. All round cuteness with those two

Most attracted to physically would probably be Lando again? Either him or Oscar. I have a type and i know it, and zak brown knows it too apparently. But carlos is there too, that HAIR?!🥵

Most likeable personality to me would be like who would i get along with best, which would probably be either oscar or max?

Fiendship would be carlando again, or norstoppen just because those two bring out the inner children

Favorite TP is ofc andrea stella. My mans took the horns of the mclaren car and dragged it out of itz depts. Its not perfect yet, but its up there.

Mclaren is my favorite team, their environment seems currently very well organised with good people in there

Least favorite team is alpine, but even them i dont "dislike" perse. The way they talked about oscar and mclaren though... grrrr.

Least favorite driver is super hard, cause i like all of them pretty much, but maybe checo? He's said some stuff i really hate. But i still like watching him drive.

I wouldnt mind writing carlando for the rest of my life. Theres so many ideas i have for them. But, since i already answered Carlando twice, i think im going with dando. Cute, sweet, but a great option for angst as well!

Kosmos was once a great empire, split into three when power and greed forced men to rip the lands apart. Now three mighty kingdoms stand in its place, and remnants of the curses of the ancient empire still linger up to this day.

Once the heir to a powerful bloodline, Nyx Asteria wants nothing to do with curses and ancient empires. All she wants is to remove the seal burning on her back that forces her magic to feed on her own veins and carry on quietly as the handmaiden to the Duke’s Daughter.

Until she meets someone she only ever heard of in whispers. The Captain of the Shadow, whose crew pillaged even the most armed ships, the safest ports, that even other pirates fear him. No one steals what the Shadow plans to steal. No one takes what the Shadow plans to take.

And if the Captain happens to want to kill the witch who can't do magic?

Then, there's nothing left to do but to kill him first. Even if he never dies.

NOTES FROM THE AUTHOR'S DESK

I sincerely just wanted a witch/pirate romance and then my brain said 'why don't u write it'

and then the idea just ran away and i got into too much worldbuilding... and too much politics... and too much side stories

this is why all my character names are butchered myths and I'd apologize but I'm not really sorry... I'm still debating whether to change it or not

hence even if i wasn't taking it seriously i was able to finish the first draft

TIP: NEVER TAKE YOUR DRAFTS SERIOUSLY hahaha not sure how effective it is to others but i'm swearing by this now

which is why it's filled with plotholes, stereotypes, and cliches, which is what I'm trying to fix with this revision

He wasn’t really sure what made him stick with the blond after they had met. He was a demon, a high ranking one, and the blond was supposed to be his target. Yet, when he had seen him he lost the wish to end his life, choosing to instead observe him more carefully. He couldn’t point it really, the exact thing that made this human stand apart from the rest. Was it his smile, his attitude or charisma? But as he took corporal form and became friends with him, Vergo had found out he really enjoyed spending time with him. He was entertainment, a breath of fresh air, and he would tag along with anything the blond came up with. He was enjoying himself after so many years, he really did.

He was pulled back by Doflamingo’s voice, focus on his face and words that had escaped lips. There was a puzzled look before his lips lifted in a smile, amused by the fact the demon Doffy so casually called a wimp was standing meters behind him, staying away only because of Vergo’s presence. “ Without a doubt, this demon is a wimp. ” He looked at the demon directly when he spoke the words, sadly the shades covered his demonic eyes, the first and most noticeable sign of his actual self. 

He kept his gaze on the other demon, following the blond around as he went. He wouldn’t let anyone hurt his entertainment. He is just entertainment, he would often remind himself. Entertainment that turned their relationship into friendship. Fiendship. Maybe he cared about him just a little. He would never admit it though.

“ Oi, demooon! Come out, wimp! ” He called out, laughing, reaching the blond and tapping his shoulder. “ Are you satisfied? There’s no one here. ” Only you and two of us.

I used to think that I could do everything on my own ... that asking for help or seeking support was a sign of weakness. I have learned that if we were meant to go through life alone we would each experience life solo. But, we don't. We are all here at the same time experiencing this question mark known as life together. Healthy fiendships are so important. Doing what it takes to maintain them is worth it. If you have a friend (or family member) and you two are not on good terms and it can br fixed then I encourage you to do what it takes to try to make it better. The last thing you want is for someone in your life to depart from this Earth and you are on bad terms with them. It will be a feeling you will have to endure for the rest of your life. So, while you are here and able please make efforts to reconcile. If reconciliation is not possible at least send a kind word. If that is too much at the very least forgive in your heart and harbor no ill feelings. Life is too short to be mad and hold grudges. True friends are family members that we have chosen. They have price tag as their value is immeasurable thus they are not worth losing.

so i know i don’t exactly talk about my personal life very much online except for occasional general details, and that’s for a reason—im a big fan of the privacy inherent to an internet persona. that’s one reason i don’t use any social media except tumblr. but some good stuff is starting to happen to me offline, so i wanted to give an overview!

i’ve been avoiding telling people about this, mostly because i was convinced that with my recent string of bad luck, i would jinx everything in the third act.

basically, i had a falling out with my family years ago and have been supporting myself ever since, financially unstable and, frankly, getting worse every year. but a few months ago, after i moved and was looking for a new job, i got a wild offer—basically, this guy who owned a local restaurant saw that i’d essentially been a head chef at my previous job for years, and he would pay for me to go get some credentials at a culinary school over a thousand miles away, and in return, i would work at the restaurant as a lead chef for a reasonable living wage with a consistent schedule and a lot of creative freedom. the catch was that i had to be able to afford my way on certain things—paying my rent and bills back home, paying for food and transportation once i was at the school, that sort of stuff. so i cracked down, got a different job in the meantime, and started saving money.

my job cut hours a bit, so i started looking for a second one. my job cut hours entirely, so i started looking for any work at all. i ran out of savings. i sold any of my things that i could. i went to any job interview i got, even ones that told me they’d already filled the position but would ‘hear me out’. when choosing between selling my mode of transport and getting a loan, i got a loan.

essentially, i made it here by the skin of my teeth! hopefully, once my time is up out here i’ll start working right away. and once i’m out of that rocky point in the middle, everything will be great! not having to work all hours of the day seven days a week will hopefully mean that i’ll finally have the free time to more seriously pursue my creative interests. that would mean, for example, an average of more than one chapter every few months, and therefore, the end of Taking Shots within our lifetimes.

that’s the gist of it! i’m still going to be offering commissions while i’m out here, since the budget is honestly way tighter than i’m comfortable with. and my kofi is over here, if you just wanna give a funky little gift.
