Vid, and the info for anyone who doesn't feel like watching.
After mopping and sweeping and mopping again, and wiping things down over and over until it got dark today (lightbulb burned out)... At the risk of jinxing myself... I think I can FINALLY say... that the fiberglass... is g o n e.
After 4 (iirc) goddamn weeks.
GONE.
I found no sparkly dust tonight. No strands of glass. My hands do not feel cut up. My eyes don't burn. There's definitely *dust* there - you can see it floating in the vid and I could feel it kinda gritty in my eyes and when I was wiping up (fairly certain it's just drywall dust tho, which is why the daily mop + sweep + wipedowns will continue for a bit) and I want to go over it in the light of day tomorrow to be sure, so I won't let the cats up yet, but...
I think, at last, I can sleep in my own bed again tonight. If I wake up tomorrow not coughing or wheezing or prickly because of fiberglass dust, I will literally cry tears of joy. Let's give it a shot tonight.
A bit of fanart for @naffeclipse's Cryptid Sightings
I haven't been able to stop thinking about 'The Episode Surrounded By Howls' so I had to draw something for it!
Bonus Moon & y/n because I adore how the patches turned out!
rules: write out any fic titles you have that are based off of lyrics, list what songs they're from, and tag some writers! :-) (if you don't have a lot of finished fics, you can include your wips, or if you have way too many to list out, pick your faves!) i'll start:
1. you're a dog (i'm your man) – 'i'm your man' by mitski
2. the fuse to my fire – 'bloom' by aidan bissett
3. four–by–four – '4x4' by dominic fike
4. breathe me in (exhale slow) – 'lucky strike' by troye sivan
5. i don't wanna be alone tonight – 'cross my heart' by marianas trench
6. you put your arms around me (and i'm home) – 'arms' by christina perri
7. i see you in the daytime (i hear you at night) – 'amen' by amber run
8. walking towards those green neon lights – 'delaware' by briston maroney [wip]
9. i let you win (i love to lose) – 'leaves' by joe p [wip]
@bcolfanfic, @nicijones, @avonne-writes, @don-humes-tiny-shorts, and anyone else who wants to do this, i'm so keen to read everyone's lists! (+ apologies if you don't yoink lyrics for fic titles lol <3)
still stuck on mhok's trauma, unsurprisingly. i keep thinking about the opening scenes of this show, showing us day losing his sight, and mhok losing rung. i really thought that the show would spend equal time and care on both
my first post about this show was pointing out that the first shot of day is a close up of his eyes, and the first time we see mhok, he's holding something in his mouth. and i thought it was so interesting that we see mhok gagged, because society generally doesn't care what people who've been incarcerated have to say. or poor people. and by and large, it doesn't care about the voices of traumatized people, either
and i was so curious to see what the show was going to do with that. i can't believe the show itself was never really interested in what mhok has to say
and i'm stuck on mhok's time in hawaii. the show highlighted over and over again how poor he is, and we know that he didn't like studying. what are his english skills like? we saw singha there, and i think one other thai person. was that the extent of his social circle? he seemed pretty happy to leave hawaii behind, so did he make no new friends? did he spend his days off just sitting in his room by himself, the way day did when he went to songkla with mhok?
i assume he and porjai were still in touch, but he moved abroad at a time when his ptsd was getting worse, and in the wake of a terrible breakup, and he just walked all of that off? alone???
feeling overly protective and over-responsible is absolutely an understandable trauma response for mhok, but you know what else is? losing a relationship, and feeling like you HAVE to go back and fix it, and that if you can just get a do-over, you'll be able to do everything perfectly this time, and you'll get everything right, and everything will be okay! this makes more sense to me in the final episode than the idea of mhok and day having a happily ever after does
holy shit lmao, finally finished drafting Chapter 2. Its up to 45,000 words and might increase with edits, the dialogue changes and new Backstory/Personality I've added, but overall the draft is done. wHew.
amazing race au pleaseeeeee (i live for andreil being chaotic trailblazers)
"It's a Detour!" Phil Keoghan's voice cuts in over the visuals. "Teams must pick one of two Detour options. First is Iron Stomach where the team must work together to first prepare a traditional Kalua pig." Phil Keoghan says over the image of an earthen oven with Kiawe wood, and hot lava rocks, a pig having some of the white hot volcanic rock put inside, the fire being covered by banana stumps, and then the pig being placed on top of those banana stumps before being covered by banana leaf, having some water sprayed onto it and then a sheet placed over it all before it was buried in the dirt. "Next they will head to a different earthen oven to uncover a pig that has been roasting in the traditional way and take it over to the chefs who will then shred the Kalua Pork. Teams will then have to clean their entire plate before they are given their clue." Phil explains the challenge.
"The other option is Iron Man." Phil Keoghan continues as the camera cuts to crystal clear water, 7 bicycles, and finally a beautiful running track. "The 1st Iron Man event was held in 1978 in Honolulu Hawaii before it moved here to the Big Island in 1981. We won't be asking contestants to swim 2.4 miles, bike 122 miles, and then run a 26.2 mile marathon but we will be asking one member from each team that chooses this to swim at least half a mile, bike for 2 miles and run for 1." Phil Keoghan explains. "Their partner will be driven to the finish line where they will need to wait for their partner to finish to receive their clue."
"Contestants can start on the Iron Man Challenge immediately as the start of the swimming portion is right behind me while contestants who choose Iron Stomach will need to make their way to the cooking location 3 miles from the clue box." Phil finishes as the camera cuts to Neil and Andrew.
Neil's eyes widen, "Andrew, can-"
"Give me your bag." Andrew sighs as Neil smiles brightly before handing him his bag and then his shirt before running straight into the water. "He acts like he hasn't run once this entire race." Andrew sighs as he climbs onto the golf cart. "You should hurry, he might beat us there." he says sinking back into the seat as he pulled out dry clothes from Neil's bag.
I read Nothings Wrong With Dale a bit ago and I loved it :) I had some down time right now and the part where Dale 'revealed himself' to Sana came into my mind and that whole part of the story where Dale just didn't know that Sana knew is so ridiculous and funny for me. I'm pretty sure I commented on ao3 but I thought you should know that your work is living rent free in my mind
hi!
i've been deep in my work sink hole, trying to make it through the Busy Times, but i'm getting some breathing room (hope that doesn't jinx it lol) and so i can finally thinking about answering some asks and comments i've been hoarding
the whole reveal scene was planned from the start (i hav the text message receipts to my friend to prove it lmao) and i was so excited and worried about how everyone would receive it so i'm always so so thrilled when people talk about how much they enjoyed it!
it 100% lived rent free in my head for years and continues to do so. one of the greatest things about being a writer is that i can inflict such things on everyone else :D
