Here's my take on the sons of Feanor (in age order for easy deciphering). Yall can expect an increase in elfposting from now on.

We all know Fëanor as “the guy obsessed with his Silmarils” but it’s quite something to remember that when he first discovered Morgoth had broken into his house, he wasn’t even thinking about how the Silmarils were most likely stolen. He immediately burst into tears not over the jewels, but over his dad.

Findis. First child and daughter of High King Finwë and his second wife Indis, of the Noldor. Half-sister of Fëanor.

Interestingly, she did not ever challenge Fëanor or Fingolfin, and little is said of her besides that she and her sister did not choose to join her brothers to Middle Earth. Nor is there anything known about her feelings towards her half-brother or her opinions about Fingolfin's oath.

Death must have been a foreign concept to the Elves in this age. The loss of her father must've been alien to her, until he was eventually re-embodied. Still, it was said they grieved.

Words cannot begin to explain the rage that I feel right now

How dare they. How dare the Noldor storm our city and slaughter us for our ships. We had no part in Finwë's death or whatever has gone down with Melkor (or "Morgoth" as everyone is calling him), and yet we were the first people to suffer from the revenge of the Noldor

My parents are dead. My husband is dead. Most of our ships have been stolen. We have been insulted dearly by the Fëanorians, and when we tried to defend ourselves, we were slaughtered for it

There is no coming back from this, everyone. What has been done to Alqualondë is going to be in our memory forever

And I will never forgive the Fëanorians or the Noldor, so long as I live

People try to tell me that holding onto anger and hatred is unhealthy. That I need to forgive the Noldor, especially the Fëanorians. And usually, it's someone who took part in the Kinslaying that's telling me all of this

Perhaps you should come down to Alqualondë and see what you have done

Our streets are clean now. Our blood no longer stains the pearly sands. We're rebuilding our ships. But look at what you have done to the Teleri. Look at what your actions have done to them.

We still grieve for our dead. We're still mourning the people we've lost. And those boats you took? They were some of the very first boats that we've built, but you've destroyed them all. It will be impossible to get them back, and no amount of rebuilding can ever erase that you took some of our greatest treasures and destroyed them.

Now go ahead and tell me that I have no right to be angry. In fact, I dare you to say that to Olwë's face.

Holding onto anger is never healthy though. Besides, not all of the Noldor took part in the Kinslaying. What about Arafinwë's people? Are you going to hate them forever even though they didn't even kill a single Telerin?

Forgiveness is part of healing. If you keep begrudging us, you will never be happy.

Don't you dare come and lecture us about forgiveness and healing when your kind never suffered the very first kinslaying in Aman. My people had nothing to do with Finwë's death or the destruction of the Two Trees, but we were the first one's to suffer from Fëanáro's wrath. Arafinwë may have repented and turned back on the quest to Middle-earth, but that doesn't mean that we have to listen to other people demanding that we must stop being angry.

Let us heal on our own terms. Let us be angry. If you really are as regretful as your URL says, then stop preaching forgiveness at us and just let us grieve.

Oh my god, I survived my first @tolkienrsb as a fic writer xD. I picked up @elentarial's beautiful collage, to write about the lesser known princesses and princes of the Noldor. It also incorporates a bit of Silmarillion draft from the Lost Road, namely Aegnor and Amrod sailing to Beleriand with the Feanorians. Originally, it was supposed to be a collection of moments centered on these lesser written about characters in Aman and Beleriand. But as a certain disastrous beach-excursion started to overtake my attention, I had to make this a Part 1, so to say. (Tbc eventually) I hope you enjoy reading about how everything went really, really wrong really quickly, now with a pinch of Arafinwëans getting emotionally (and somewhat physically) beaten into a pulp.

Friendly reminder that literally nobody forced Fëanor and his sons to swear an Oath that they would become mass murderers if this didn’t happen or that didn’t happen. They chose of their own free will to make the most violent possible vow. This is why I can’t stand defensive takes from stans that are like “the Oath MADE them do it” because who MADE them swear such an Oath in the first place? Nothing and nobody!!!!
