About Michael Jackson:

I first learned about that tidbit of Mike incorporating “Annie, are you okay?” in his record, “Smooth Criminal,” during the premiere of Spike Lee’s documentary, Bad 25. The CPR doll was in the studio while he was laying down the lyrics and outta nowhere he started singing that line to the doll 🙃 lol. If you didn’t know the CPR doll is dubbed Resusci Anne. Hence, Annie.

A fact I know but haven’t come across yet: 

Before she joined Rufus and carved a name for herself, becoming the legendary vocalist with the big voice and signature big hair, Chaka Khan joined the Black Panther Party in Chicago at 16. She was friends with Fred Hampton, used to sell the newspapers and assisted with the Party’s free breakfast program for children. 

Also, 15-year-old Whitney Houston sang background on Chaka’s “I’m Every Woman (1978), which she would later cover for The Bodyguard Soundtrack, paying homage to Chaka in the end.
