In such fragments of Barth’s Unnatural History as remain, the septon appears to have considered various legends examining the origins of dragons and how they came to be controlled by the Valyrians. The Valyrians themselves claimed that dragons sprang forth as the children of the Fourteen Flames, while in Qarth the tales state that there was once a second moon in the sky. One day this moon was scalded by the sun and cracked like an egg, and a million dragons poured forth. In Asshai, the tales are many and confused, but certain texts—all impossibly ancient—claim that dragons first came from the Shadow, a place where all of our learning fails us. These Asshai’i histories say that a people so ancient they had no name first tamed dragons in the Shadow and brought them to Valyria, teaching the Valyrians their arts before departing from the annals.
Yet if men in the Shadow had tamed dragons first, why did they not conquer as the Valyrians did? It seems likelier that the Valyrian tale is the truest. But there were dragons in Westeros, once, long before the Targaryens came, as our own legends and histories tell us. If dragons did first spring from the Fourteen Flames, they must have been spread across much of the known world before they were tamed. And, in fact, there is evidence for this, as dragon bones have been found as far north as Ib, and even in the jungles of Sothoryos. But the Valyrians harnessed and subjugated them as no one else could.

I would to like hear more about the Maekar x Reader
I think that would be the first time i read a Ghiscari reader or similiar
Yeah, not gonna lie, i was surprised with the idea myself
So here a few headcannons from that
¿?
After getting taken away from her home, the reader was kept inside of the Red Keep, but she is not locked, she can walk around, but she didn't have much company other than Maekar himself and his sons due to the fact that they are some of the few people who can understand her.
Aemon and Aegon are the ones who she mostly likes to be around with, they have been trying to teach her the common tongue, but they stopped after a while...
Maekar enjoys the idea of her not understanding the common tongue because it restricts her from taking with other men outside of his family
But he forgot about his other son...Aerion
Aerion sometimes tries to torment my girl, luckily for her, his brothers always tend to appear whenever he tries.
Daeron is too drunk to do anything sadly 😔
During her pregnancy, Maekar tried everything to convince her to give the children a typical Valyrian name, she refused

ZAMETTAR
Colonies planted here [by the Ghiscari] wither and die; only Zamettar endured for more than a generation, and today even that once-great city is a haunted ruin, slowly being reclaimed by the jungle.

Mhysa means Mother
Here is the glyph for mother in the Ghiscari script
On the morning of the third day, the city gates swung open and a line of slaves began to emerge. Dany mounted her silver to greet them. As they passed, little Missandei told them that they owed their freedom to Daenerys Stormborn, the Unburnt, Queen of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros and Mother of Dragons.
“Mhysa!” a brown-skinned man shouted out at her. He had a child on his shoulder, a little girl, and she screamed the same word in her thin voice. “Mhysa! Mhysa!”
Dany looked at Missandei. “What are they shouting?”
“It is Ghiscari, the old pure tongue. It means ‘Mother.’”
Dany felt a lightness in her chest. I will never bear a living child, she remembered. Her hand trembled as she raised it. Perhaps she smiled. She must have, because the man grinned and shouted again, and others took up the cry. “Mhysa!” they called. “Mhysa! MHYSA!” They were all smiling at her, reaching for her, kneeling before her. “Maela,” some called her, while others cried “Aelalla” or “Qathei” or “Tato,” but whatever the tongue it all meant the same thing. Mother. They are calling me Mother.

The most vital of the Ghiscari cities is also the smallest and the newest, and no less a pretender to greatness: New Ghis, left to its own devices on its isle. There, its masters have formed iron legions in mimicry of the legions of the Old Empire, but unlike the Unsullied, these are free men, as the soldiers of the Old Empire were.

Sothoryos: People
By Shella Longclaw
According to Yi Tish records, there are six known people of the Sothoryos: The Brindled Men, Dapple Men, Lizard Men, the tanwih, tribe of farmers and eyeless cave dwellers. The Yi Tish know nothing of the eyeless cave dwellers. The third yellow emperor Chai Zhu brought back two Lizard Men (though one was a woman) as slaves. Scholars were able to provide a detail description of the people. They had calloused brown and green backs. From their belly to their faces were pale. They sharpened their fingernails and toenails to be able to pierce through flesh. After Emperor Chai Zhu’s death, the Lizard Men were sailed back to Sothoryos.
Due to Ghiscari and Valyrian’s acts, the tribe of farmers and the tanwih aren’t well studied. The tribe of farmers’ true name has faded away because of Valyrian conquest. There are a few descendants remaining in Volantis. They can be discerned from a green hint to their hair. Most information about these two tribes was provided by Princess Priti Chai. She debated and fought against slavery in Valyria. Third Advisor Yas Yao wrote in his book that she had on several occasions rescued slaves out of the Fourteen Flames. Some of these slaves sailed back to Sothoryos, while others were taken to the Far West for their safety.
The tanwih are very mysterious and perceived as mere rumors. Only one letter of Princess Priti Chai mentions them. She gives no physical description of them. She stated, “tanwih have scouts that can infiltrate any kingdom. They are hunters that can blend in with people. Only Huhanah (her Lengii female healer) can truly see his face. All the other people of Sothoryos called them tricksters. But I trust him, mother. He has a good heart. He only wanted to relieve people of their suffering.”
The ancient Valyrian discredited and looked down upon the Brindled Men. They don’t even mention the Dapple Men who also fought the Valyrian during the Fourth Ghiscari War. Seventh yellow emperor Chai Nui painted a different picture of the Sothoryi battle and the destruction of the Valyrian stronghold. He stated the Brindled Men’s military tactics utterly annihilated the Valyrian army. Their allies, the Dapple Men brought over titans to kill the Valyrian’s dragons. I’ll go into more detail about those creatures in the next chapter.
Contrary to other resources, the Brindled Men are not cannibalistic, nor did they drive other tribes away. Invaders such as the Sea People, Ghiscari and Valyrians are the most likely culprits. As for being unable to breed with the people, Yi Tish grand healers are doubtful of this allegation against the Brindled Men. There is an unknown potion which causes malformed baby and stillborn babies. As of now, no one knows the origin of such an evil potion. Could it have been from Sothoryos?
I hope in the future, other kingdoms will come to Sothoryos not for conquest but for gaining more knowledge.

I've said before that Daenerys' position as an outsider intervening in Slaver's Bay has a slightly different character depending on if you focus on her as Westerosi, Valyrian, or Dothraki.
And like I think she views it mostly in the sense of her being Westerosi. Just coming from this other (more civilised™) culture to ban their barbaric practices and improve their society. That's why I say she's a Liberal Interventionist (if a less bad faith one than the real world counterparts)
But the Ghiscari see her mostly as Valyrian. Their old enemies repeatedly defeated them with their magic lizard nukes and completely destroyed their homeland™ ensuring nothing would ever grow there again. And now one of their descendants brings more dragons to destroy their way of life and turn their society on its head.
