Just a little something short and sweet that i wrote for jerejean inspired by that hotel scene in the golden raven

Spoilers ahead !!!

Jean stares down at the tie in his hand.

As expected, Kevin's taking his time getting back to the room and Jean can't wait for him. Time is ticking. He'll just have to try himself. Frustrated, ready to toss the silly thing out the window, and apologise to Jeremy for his distressed and informal state later, the door behind him opens. Brown eyes and freckles he'd know anywhere greet him warmly. Jean doesn't miss Jeremy's smile or the perfectly done bow tie at his throat. He already can't wait to pull it off later with his teeth. He'd refused one of course. A tie being the lesser evil here. Jeremy was thankfully happy to oblige with that.

"You're not supposed to be here." Jean finally finds his words, albeit his voice is too shaky for his liking. Frustration at the tie and breathlessness from how stunning Jeremy looks all bleed together at the back of his throat.

"I know," Jeremy says with shining eyes and a blinding grin. "Felt your little tantrum down the hall. Came to check on you." Jean mutters something rude under his breath in French. "Easy," Jeremy replies, effortlessly matching him in his langauge. Their language. "You have to be nice. At least today."

He's moving forward now, the door already clicking shut behind him. He stares up at Jean, considering, before brushing away hair off Jean's face and holding his palm out. His lips wobble from restrained laughter and Jean sighs before dumping the offending material in his hand. Jeremy moves with familiar ease looping the tie around his neck and knotting it with expert efficiency. "Easier on myself" he'd say each time after that first one. Until he'd eventually learned to accept Jean's unwillingness to try to do it himself. Now, Jean is sure there isn't a single tie he's worn around his neck since that Jeremy hasn't twisted into shape for him.

It doesn't come as a surprise to either of them he'd need help for their wedding day either.

Jeremy lets out a breath as Jean stares down at him. He's just tightening the accessory into place when Jean reaches up to rest his thumb at the corner Jeremy's mouth, his fingers skirting over his neck.

"Thank you," Jean says low. Jeremy smoothes over the lapels of his suit jacket, his palms sliding over Jean's chest, the warm weight of his hands familiar and just as enticing as always. Not for the first time, Jean thinks they should just elope and be done with the whole thing so he can take Jeremy back home instead and have his way with him. He almost says the words out loud until Jeremy's smile makes him lose grip on his words.

"Always," Jeremy finally says back. "Nickel for your thoughts?"

"I love you," the words slip out before he can stop them - as autmatic as muscle memory. Jeremy's responding smile is slow and sweet, but noticeably amused.

"I should hope so. Otherwise I might be in the wrong place."

Jean makes a face at that, not wanting to hear it. Even as a joke. "No." he grunts, slipping his arms around Jeremy's waist and tugging him closer, leaning down until he's sinking into those brown eyes.

"You'll rumple our suits," Jeremy says with gentle scolding. "We've already broken the golden rule so we need all the luck we can get."

Jean doesn't care about rules. Those days are long behind him. "You broke the rule. Your rebeliousness never fails to be a nuisance."

Jeremy exhales a breathy laugh and Jean feels it bush against his lips and chin. "A problem child since birth i'm afraid."

Jean hums. "Marry me?"

Jeremy giggles, but Jean feels it more where their chests are pressed together than he actually hears it. "Okay," Jeremy says around a smile.

As if they aren't both dressed for the occasion. As if they aren't supposed to be walking down the aisle any second. As if in less than an hour or so they won't be. Officially.

Jean presses forward, and Jeremy meets him halfway. Their lips are warm and soft as they glide over each other in practiced form and full of affection. Jeremy hums against Jean's mouth, and again Jean almost thinks to hell with it all. Jeremy is already his.

But Jeremy wants this. And Jean already promised him whatever he wanted. So, he'll be on his best behaviour for him. Jean rests his forehead against Jeremy's as they pull apart, Jeremy pressing back playfully. His hands now buried in Jean's hair scratch blissfully over his scalp.

"Do you remember the first time I had to tie your tie for you?"

Jean grumbles and pulls back slightly, remembering the years of their youth and that unpleasant night. "I'd rather not," he says, bothered by the memory of the biting words of nobodies from their opposing teams and the bruises on Jeremy's neck from another man.

Jeremy sighs and strokes over Jean's jaw in a silent apology. "I just mean, all these years later. Who would have thought I'd be having to do this for you on our wedding day?"

Jean huffs, disapproving again and says, "I stand by my initIal statement. Horrid creations."

Jeremy laughs softly and pulls back, taking Jean's hands in his as he steps back. "You look amazing." Jean hates that such words from Jeremy still have heat creeping up under his cheeks even after all this time.

He tugs playfully at Jeremy's hands. "So do you, mon amour." Jeremy smiles bright and presses a kiss to the back of both of Jean's hands, his thumb unconsciously smoothing over the space on his finger where the wedding band will soon sit.

"See you out there?" Jeremy asks in soft french.

Jean reaches up to playfully flick Jeremy's bottom lip. "See you out there," he replies back, also in gentle french.

With that, Jeremy slips loose and drifts across the room. When the door clicks shut behind him Jean turns back, considering himself in the mirror. If someone had told him all those years ago in that hotel room he'd be here years later marrying that same gorgeous and once unreachable man that stood before him, Jean would have laughed at the cruel joke of it all.

Jeremy's work on his tie is effortless of course, and before Jean's thoughts can drift further, Kevin arrives back.

He takes one look at Jean's chest and says, "Oh you managed it then?" Jean hums, his body now buzzing with the thrill of watching Jeremy walk down the aisle to him in just mere minutes. "Well come on then, you spend another second looking at your reflection you'll start hating it."

Jean rolls his eyes and resists the urge to smack Kevin round the head as he follows him out the door and down to the hall where he knows Jeremy waits. Waits just on the other side for Jean, ready to meet him halfway and finally, finally take his name.

I am, once again, thinking of the Ravens vs. Foxes game and how the foxes, Neil and Andrew in particular, barely made it off the court alive.

But there's so much more to it.

Danielle Wilds, the absolute ICON AND QUEEN that she is, starting for Andrew but seeing that Matt and Aaron had that sorted and moving to help Kevin instead??? Matt having to be the one who eventually pries her away because she was still trying to go for his attacker even after they'd been pulled away from each other. Dan, who is usually so composed and put together, feeling so angry that the foxes, HER FOXES, are being attacked again!!

Either Matt or Aaron (I can't decide who I want it to be more) warning Andrew, meaning he's somehow able to dodge a deadly shot. They saved his life when Neil couldn't and I know Neil will forever be grateful for that. Then both of them just destroying those damn backliners for even thinking of hurting their teammate, and Aaron's brother (we all have seen how protective Aaron gets).

And Kevin, my love. The way he didn't even hesitate to go to Neil. He saw him in danger, and despite how scared he must have been, he still ran to help him, still fought his attacker and decided that, yes, Dan definitely has this covered and she helped him so he could help Neil. The way he kneeled at his side, probably begging and praying for some kind of response as he lay there unmoving, begging Abby to help him anyway she could..

I kind of choose to believe that Renee, Allison and Nicky stormed the court the second those doors opened for the refs. Nicky may have been the one to get Andrew over to Wymack in the first place, as we all know he's not a fighter. And the girls wouldn't hesitate to fight but maybe they only wanted to help their injured teammates off the court and I will die on that hill.

Then there's Neil and Andrew, who consume my every waking thought. I've made a post before about them, but I cannot escape them. Neil, who turned immediately for Andrew but was whacked to the floor, who probably still tried to get up until that racquet was across his neck and he fought harder than he ever has before but it was not enough. Andrew was out of reach, and he knows ravens, they will go for the kill and both he and Andrew don't stand a chance of getting out of this alive. But no, he survived 8 years on the run, he survived evermore and his father, he could survive this. But when the racquet was removed, all he could do was lay unmoving, UNMOVING, on the court floor. And Abby was trying to get a coherent response but you just know his eyes were locked on Kevin as he used the last of his breath to ask where Andrew was. And as Wymack dropped Andrew beside him, there was relief but pain because he wasn't fast enough to save him.

And Andrew, the boy who constantly crashes out when someone he cares about is in danger. He had a broken collarbone, but he dragged Wymack across the court to Neil. He had a broken collarbone, but he headlocked Lane so quickly, he went for the kill and had he been in full strength we all know he would have succeeded. Andrew, who despite everything helped Neil to his feet, wrapped his working arm around him to help him stand his ground and get off the court and neither of them would say it, but they both felt the pain of not saving the other. And they'll be damned if they're ever going to be so far apart from each other again.

Anyway, the foxes were already a family, especially after Baltimore, but this brought them closer than they've ever been. The shared anger they feel to the Ravens, the combined healing they have to do together, physically and mentally, it's a beautiful story. The foxes invented found family.

I just finished The Golden Raven, and I have absolutely no notes.

The parallels between the original trilogy are what is really getting to me,,,

“Jean.. you’re safe, i’ve got you, let go”

“Help me,” “Let me.”

“But Jeremy only had eyes for Jean”

“Andrew only had eyes for Neil”

Jean’s favorite color is brown

Neil’s favorite is gray

Both of them refusing Witness Protection.

Jean and Neil are on in the same, weather they like it or not.

The Golden Raven first impressions review (no spoilers in the first part, will warn ahead when I add specific spoilers)

I'm going to tag it as spoilers just in case, but I can't help but put my thoughts out there.

My heart is so full after reading this. It also grew fonder and fonder for Jeremy and Jean to the point I felt almost suffocated by it. We got so much new lore and so much character depth. And Laila and Cat. Oh my god, did the found family go hard on this one. I've not been one to have very vivid reactions while reading but I spent the last ten minutes crying.

The character growth and depth, the ups and downs, the progress. I want to kiss Nora's creative brain. I'm so happy she decided Jean deserved a chance to have his story told. I'm so happy Jeremy got the time to shine he deserved. And boy did he SHINE. To see these characters that I've spent so long speculating over, so many years of wondering and imaging and dreaming of what they might be like grow and become fully fleshed, beautiful personalities with tender and raw interactions is making me stupidly emotional.

The romance. Ah, the classic Nora, burning slow but burning bright. How can I wait for the third book, having seen Jean and Jeremy interact in such a manner? Knowing they are already so important to each other? This dynamic, this love and care between them it's something so so raw and so so good. The sexual attraction, but also the want behind it. Stop me or I won't stop talking about it.

The Trojans shone through, but Cat and Laila, Xavier and Cody stole the spotlight on multiple occasions. Nora just knows how to hit you with that found family until it hurts. Laila and Jeremy and Cat and Jean and then all four of them together, I'm afraid that dynamic is unmatched and unlike anything Nora has ever written.

Of course, who would I be if I didn't comment on Kevin and his scenes? Just enough to feel like a treat, and all the interactions between him and Jean and him and Jeremy gave us so much insight from so many different angles, I feel spoiled.

Of course, all the foxes cameos where treats, all the little snippets we got to see with their continuation. Sometimes it felt a bit much, but I have a feeling I know where Nora will be going with this in the third book.

Despite the length of the book, I didn't really feel as if it was too long. I'll let my recency bias settle and probably write another review with more spoilers and details but until then I couldn't help but add my own dime on this.

Jeremy and Jean had my heart from the beginning of this journey, hell from even way before that, but now I'm absolutely ride or die for them.

SPOILERS BELOW THE CUT

Some of my favourite moments jumbled up (ill add later):

• Obviously, learning more about Jeremy, about now messy he is and how much he is struggling to stay in control. About how lowly he treats himself and his own happiness but how quickly he jumps to defend others'. Jeremy learning French with a Marseille accent for Jean. Jeremy who wants to please everyone, who makes a mess of his own personal life and yet stays a devoted captain. He wants to treat people with kindness, to crawl away from the dark place he'd been in. Who doesn't realize how much he is worth and how shitty he has been treated.

• Jean slowly progressing into acknowledging more and more of the cruelty of the Ravens. Jean "I deserve to get better" Moreau. Jean who will choose Laila and Cat and Jeremy over anyone. Jean who called Rhemann and Wymack his fathers, who saw the fireworks and added them to his little mantra. Whose favourite colour is brown because it reminds him of all those he is growing to love. Jean who keeps the promise he made to Kevin to keep on living. Jean, who was quick to jump to Jeremy's defence at any given moment that the other needed it. The little kiss on the cheek, the touches, helping each other, eyeing each other, pining from a distance.

• Laila who sees Jeremy as her brother, who would do anything for him. Laila who lost everything she held dear and yet she chooses to move on because she has her family around her. Cat who lifts everyone spirits, who encourages Jean to embrace what he loves, encourages him to get a bike, is always there to check if he is okay. Both of them helping him with his eating disorder. Doing their best to help him adjust. Doing their best to protect Jeremy from his self-destruction.

• Kevin with his tough and harsh love. Kevin and Jean who deny being friends but doing so much for one another. Their little shared touches and their banter and their old man arguing. Kevin who bought Jean a postcard the moment he saw Jean's was ruined. Kevin and his friendship with Jeremy. How open he was with him, how much they were both trying to understand each other, how much they were trying for Jean.

• Jean tackling his sexuality over and over again. Slowly breaking free because "whose rules? The dead kid's?". Jeremy proving his worth time and time again despite his past, despite how people kept using his sexuality against him.

• Jean's sass and retorts, Jeremy and Cat's jokes. So many little diamonds in those quotes. Their teasing and their banter and their inside jokes.

• Adopting Jabberwocky and how happy it made them, how its going to bring this family even closer. How silly and stupidly excited it got Jeremy. Ugh, my heart.

The Golden Raven by Nora Sakavic - blurrypetals review

I began this review at first by starting to say, "my god, Nora,", but then I decided to reread my review for The Sunshine Court and I started that review basically the exact same way. I also know my other 15 reviews for the first three books on the series have varying degrees of oh my gods scattered throughout.

I simply cannot overstate how happy I am that these new All for the Game books exist. I think the first trilogy is, honestly, basically perfect. That said, it is brutal to read. It is like shattered glass in the palms: agony, then the balm of removal with the promise of healing in the future.

This trilogy, so far, at least, by contrast, is a gentle, beautiful sunflower: turning toward the light, opening up to warmth, healing.

I don't know if I have the words for how much I adored this book, the way Jean begins opening up to Jeremy, Cat, and Laila, trusting and beginning to like his teammates. Realizing he doesn't want to hurt people in effort to make them better, that he enjoys fireworks, that brown is his favorite color, that he can trust Rhemann implicitly...god, does Sakavic know how to write rewarding growth and relationships.

And the reason these relationships pay off so well is because we finally learn in this book what Jeremy and Jean have been through, things we didn't know about them in books previous, and now that we know their pasts, it just makes their kind hearts all the more rewarding.

The family our four main characters form together is, hands down, a top 5 favorite chosen families of all time. The way they all take care of one another, the love these 3 golden retrievers surround their traumatized black cat with, the pain they all feel losing the home they all built together...I definitely cried more over this book than any other All for the Game book.

And a lot of those tears were shed not only because of the house fire, Jeremy's past addiction and his brother's death, the multiple attacks Jean survived, both past and present, or the attempt on Andrew and Neil's lives at their match with the Ravens, but also because of Rhemann defending Jean, Jean admitting he deserves to get better, Cat, Laila, and Jean sleeping over at Jeremy's house, Jean playing a good, clean game with his new teammates...I could go on.

I loved getting to see the Foxes more in this than we did in The Sunshine Court, of course. The news story Jeremy watches after Neil and Andrew's injuries was an absolute riot. I'm glad we got to see Thea there again, too. I really would love to get to see more of her and Kevin together. Their relationship is so interesting to me! Give me a little more, Nora!

On top of that, it was great getting to know more of the Trojans as well. I felt like we got a small taste of just the floozies in The Sunshine Court, but here we get to actually know so many of them, floozies or not, and watch Jean form bonds with them even without Jeremy, Cat, or Laila facilitating it.

I was also so glad to get some Exy in this one! Obviously we got a little bit of practice here and there in the last book, but getting a full match really hit the spot, even if it was followed by one of the most brutal scenes in the whole series.

This has major potential to be my favorite book of the series, competing closely with The King's Men, which has the edge by virtue of being a finale and because I've read it 4 more times than I've read this book. I have a feeling, though, that the next book might take the cake.

Sakavic's writing has only gotten better, not that it needed improving upon in the first place. I can't properly express how much I love and care for these characters. I want the absolute best for them all and I'm terrified for the pain that lies ahead, but I know there will be peace when all is said and done...at least there better be!

I'll be breaking down the (main) characters and their respective animal motifs in A Stepmother's Marchen. Potential spoilers ahead.

Shuri: Rabbit

Animal Characteristics: Gentle, Kind, Swift, Alert, Patient

Visual Symbolism: Split hair = bunny ears, large round eyes

Story Motif: Shuri is literally a prey animal caught in a world of predator animals, including her children. While her nature is gentle, she doesn't hesitate to fight against injustices done to her or her family. While headstrong, Shuri often requires help from her stronger (physically and politically) allies to help her overcome or escape various conflict.

Nora: Wolf

Animal Characteristics: Adaptable, Brave, Loyal, Wildness, Intuitive

Visual Symbolism: Dark hair, blue eyes, often seen wearing informal (messy) clothes, Nuremberg Crest = Wolves

Story Motif: Nora is a lone wolf amongst the Nuremberg Family and prefers lurking in the shadows. While he seen as wild and brooding to those he dislikes, he is loyal and eager to please to those in his favor. He is quick to adapt to social situations and observes his opponents from afar before striking.

Jeremy: Lion

Animal Characteristics: Confident, Aggressive, Direct, Stubborn

Visual Symbolism: Golden hair, Feral grin, Neuschwanstein Crest = Lions

Story Motif: Jeremy has shown himself to be self-confident and aggressive, choosing to use his fists over mental tactics to get his way. He is fiercely protective towards his family and is a natural leader among his peers.

Theo: Eagle

Animal Characteristics: Tenacious, Authoritative, Egocentric, Leader

Visual Symbolism: White hair, golden (single exposed "eagle") eye, Baden Bismark Crest = Eagles

Story Motif: While Theo is distinctly selfish and possessive, he puts forward a facade of humility that is expected of a future leader. He is guilty of using underhanded methods to get what he wants, even at the expense of his subject of desire (Shuri).

Richelieu: Raven

Animal Characteristics: Prophetic, Transformation, Intelligent, Cunning, Partnership, Guidance

Visual Symbolism: Black hair, eye bags, long black robes

Story Motif: Cardinal Richelieu has once experienced "rebirth" and follows a deep devotion towards God. He works at the hand of nobody but often gives mysterious words of (sometimes manipulative) advice to others. He has expressed an interest in partnering with Shuri in recent chapters.

Ludovika: Swallow tailed kite

Animal Characteristics: Divinity, Freedom, Awakening, Playful, Transformation

Visual Symbolism: Split hair = split tail

Story Motif: Ludovika was initially a commoner turned Empress, with a bright personality and desire for power. Johannes has expressed a desire to cage her, but since her death, she has flown beyond his grasp.

I have seen a few people make their own Kpop Demon Hunters OCs and I want to have a crack at it *spoilers ahead

As someone who loves character design I had an Idea for an OC for KPDH. Right now these are the concepts I don’t have a complete characters design yet but I have some ideas I’ll draw out sometime soon. Anyways here is my character:

Name: Kiki, she/her, Korean, she’s around the same age as the Saja Boys (whatever that is). Back story: She’s a siren (while the Saja boys are demons who use their song to steal souls, Sirens like Kiki are a type of aquatic demon who use their songs to lure people in to feed on their love and admiration.) She was originally a Siren that served in Gwi-ma’s court but after getting a taste of the world free from Gwi-ma’s rule she decided to perform a type of ancient ritual that broke her free from Gwi-ma, where she then proceeded to like disguised as a human who sings at a popular ocean themed dance club. However, because she wasn’t a professional who didn’t do the ritual entirely right, she is free from Gwi-ma’s control but can still hear his voice from his current plans of sending more demons to the human world to the past voices that haunt her of her past (what’s her past? idk yet). Eventually once Jinu and the Saja boys come back and team up with Huntrix to get rid of Gwi-Ma once and for all, Kiki joins their team as an informant and partner in combat. relationships: She’s a bit of a sassy bean with a soft side deep down (think Megara from Disney’s Hercules) she get’s along well with both Huntrix and The Saja Boys, but she gets long beat with Zoey over similarities and because of their cloudy day x sunshine friendship (something like Starfire and Raven’s friendship from Teen Titans). As for who she gets along with best from the Saja boys…

If you a least know me my favs of the Saja boys are Abs Saja, Jinu, & Mystery Saja, and my fav ship from KPDH is Abs Saja X Zoey and I am a firm believer who stands beside it. But say for this story it’s bit of an AU, most of the OG story of the movie stays the same but instead it’s Romance Saja who mostly flirts with Mira, Zoey simping for Abs Saja and Mystery Saja but ultimately falling for Mystery as the end. And Saja originally has a small crush on Zoey, but seeing how she likes Mystery Saja he lets her go and moves on. That’s when he wanders off into a nearby ocean themed dance club where he first meets Kiki and he is ENCHANTED. Did I create an oc to be shipped with one of my fav Saja boys Yes, but also making my own character who teams up with and hangs out with Huntrix & The Saja boys sounded like fun. But yeah, Abs is down bad for her but she initially just plays off his flustered flirting attempts as just jokes. But eventually she warms up to him, beginning to form a bond. I would say their relationship is like: black cat gf x golden retriever bf + Jessie and James from Pokémon. They are basically dumb & dumber in love, chaos meets chaos, super flirty and teasing with one another though it’s usually Kiki with the last laugh leaving Abs a nervous and flustered (but very cute) mess.

Powers & abilities: aside from luring people in her singing control water, she can walk and dance on top of the surface of water. Other abilities: can dance ballet, swimming, and on company she specializes in kicking and high-kicks. That’s all I have for now, I’m mainly doing this project for me but I also just did fun.
