I’ve always found the way the Go Jet Academy is structured to be really fascinating, especially in terms of the focuses- or really, the lack of them. Canonically speaking, there are only 5 (Pilot, Sport, Engineer, Strat, Ecology), and that already doesn’t match up with the much wider variety of staff we see on-campus, as well as the studies and teachings going on. So I wanted to take a crack at expanding upon the idea a little bit, by changing one factor- broadness.
The names used for the GJA tracks are never really consistent- Lars’ focus has been listed as engineering and mechanics in different places, and Foz’s has gone from “genius”, to “science”, depending where you look. Not to mention, the pitch bible also calls Lars a botanist, while in s3 Tala is introduced as an ecologist. So what’s the fix? Changing the wording, because technically, canon never actually defines these boxes, and how tight or broad they are.
Instead of hyper-specific roles, my pitch is that each colour of uniform indicates a “track”- a broad group of studies, each of which revolve around a particular topic. Each track links back to the Academy’s goal, of learning about the Earth, and helping to preserve it. This allows for two cadets to be under the same track, but studying two different things, kind of like a “major” system !
I also wanted to add more tracks alongside the original ones- there’s no way the Academy doesn’t teach more, and these are just some of my ideas for other fields of study, as well as their associated colours and logos. Some of these tracks come from the fact that we see teachers for them, others felt like a natural fit for the academy based off of canon context, and episodes.
Tumblr media
All of these ideas and concepts are free to use ! If you repost this graphic, just be sure to tag me (:
This is a surface level dive into some of my ideas revolving around the academy, it’s education system and the tracks, so if you’d like to hear more, please do let me know !! I’ll post a more in-depth explanation of the system itself, as well as each of the 11 tracks if enough people are interested !!
Bonus transparent version of the track info plaques because I think they’re pretty cool (:

Some art I did of my second-favourite cbeebies show!!!! (Go jetters).
Seriously though this show is genuinely brilliant, and it's so annoying that there's seemingly no future series coming out. I have been a big fan of the show since the day it aired (I remember waiting for about 3 hours infront of the telly just for it to start for the first time lol), and proceeded to have a huge obsession with it for about 2 years!!
Ubercorn is my fave, he is so awesome and lovely (and pretty much canoniclly gay at this point, which is awesome!!!). He is also extremely fun to draw which is cool.
Also I found a GJ magazine in a shop last year with the sweetest little grimbot toy in it aswell as glitch, and the grimbler (I think that's its name, it's the small ship he rides in), so I absolutely had to get it!! The magazine also had some very cool stickers in it which was awesome.

So, like, did Sonic genuinely think Shadow was dead for a brief period of time there? I'm not asking rhetorically; I'm genuinely confused.
He expressed shock at seeing him alive in that ravine and he counts him as one of his losses, but there's no one moment where we see him come to the conclusion that he's dead. He leaves for New Yoke with the intention of coming back with reinforcements but doesn't follow up on that plan and never asks about Shadow's whereabouts after returning to The Grim. He also never acts like he's under the impression that Nine's Grimbots took out Shadow, since he'd be far less friendly or at the very least more wary if that were the case.

Is Grumbot ever going to call Scar his dad as well? 🥺 (if only to pull the "you're not even my real dad!" on him)
Scar is Grumbot’s dad in everything but title— so is Cub, for that matter (and maybe bdubs). This robot can have so many dads.
Uhhh. Canonically, probably not within the time frame im writing in. But i think eventually, theoretically if they lived together for a a few months or a year, Grimbot might print off a message to Mumbo and ask “is Scar Dad 3” and Mumbo gets really flushed red but tries to explain that only if he want to call him that.
Now that we know scars power though, i can let you in on a secret: scar is able to change grumbot’s battery best because he can channel the best emotional energy for it to feed/absorb. If Grumbot has depleted most of its battery and needs a quick fix, he did tend to reach for scar more than mumbo or bdubs. Now that grians in the picture though, he reaches for grian bc he missed him a lot :)

Resistance Leader

Impulse didn’t see himself as much of a leader. Maybe someone that was in charge but not the main person in control. So being the one to get Grimbot's quest and thus become the leader of a rebellion was definitely out of nowhere.
He still didn't see himself as a leader, maybe something close to an organizer for the Soup Group's meetings would work? Still wasn't sure on how all of this would work out.
Pearl and Gem had equal standing to him in this revolt, standing strong with him. Yet they still called him a leader, said they'd follow his every step, no matter what.
And they did, they'd followed him closely even as his footing failed in battle training. It was honestly funny to think back on, Pearl was so much better at fighting and still she'd called him a commander.
When Impulse got the message that the king had set up something for the rebels to fight him and somehow win, he'd been surprised to hear the title from his other friends.
It felt odd, he was always a soldier and no more. But, as he entered the vault, he'd been called a leader. Something still clawed at that back of his mind, simply a warrior faking the role of a leader, but they cheered.
Impulse's sword so seamlessly flew through the king's neck, he had been celebrated!
He was the one who ended the tyrant's rule. He was the one that brought them back to normal.
For once, maybe just once, Impulse was a leader and he would gladly take it in stride.

I finished work early, thus I got home early, thus I had enough time left in the day to watch Sonic Prime season 3! And uh, it was fine I suppose. More of the same in a way, kids action show and all that. The way they managed to fill the season's runtime is just by having a lot of fighting, and I mean like grimbots getting bodied by everyone from every shatterspace, being brought back, getting bodied again, being brought back, etc etc. Goes on for a while. This is kind of the case with Prime as a whole but you could definitely shave off like half the total runtime of the series and not lose much of substance - in visiting the 3 major shatterspaces within the first season alone Prime kinda blows its load a little early and ends up meandering for a lot of the runtime. Oh well. On season 3 specifically again though I think the climax is reasonably solid, it's fun seeing every version of everyone team up a little bit, and then hey Sonic gets through to Nine in the end and all is well. Could've done without the sacrifice angle, I don't think it really added as much tension as it seemed to want to, but there's some decent Sonic and Shadow interactions to come out of it, so I'll take it - really minor thing in the grand scheme of things anyway so. There's a kind of openness to the ending that I actually don't really like, because it has a lot of bizarre implications; Green Hill - as the series perpetually refers to Sonic's world as - is treated as another shatterspace within that big void area, which is weird as fuck because why then did it specifically house the Paradox Prism when it's on the same level of alternate universe as every other shatterspace, also if it is on the same level then why aren't there other Sonics or Shadows, and what the hell is up with the Chaos Council, and all of these weirdnesses are amplified even further if you want to view the series as canon which hey, word of god seems to want it to be! Buuuuuut I'm just gonna try my best not to think about that. It's just a little easier that way.
Prime overall is probably the best serialised animated Sonic series, granted none of its competition is all too strong but hey, it still deserves some credit. I'd want to rewatch the entire show now that it's all out were I to try post more specifically defined opinions - certainly Prime had a lot of potential to do way way more with its premise that it didn't follow through on and that's a little disappointing, and Sonic himself really isn't the best incarnation of a character. But the show's fun, the action's good, feels Sonicy, and it's gonna get kids into Sonic. I'll take that.

The grimbots and their place in the timeline is kinda weird to me. We don’t see them in any of the childhood photos of Glitch at the Go Jet Academy, but according to the S1 Christmas Special, he got his first ever Grimbot as a Christmas present, BEFORE he was ever a cadet at the Go Jet Academy.
A lot of people don’t consider the Christmas Special to be canon, but here’s my proposal, which kind of keeps the childhood flashback scene AND the lack of grimbots at the time of Glitch being a cadet intact, in a way that I think makes sense, and also allows for “glitch invented the grimbots” to somewhat coexist?
What if The first Grimbot Glitch ever got wasn’t a Grimbot? Not in the sense we know them, at least. My personal theory is that this was a toy robot of sorts. The only real functionality of it would have been exactly what we see in the episode- it flies, it can record voice messages. Naturally, he’s very attached to it- similar to his attachment to Cuddles, who we know he’s had for a long time as well. After being expelled from the GJA, he built his first Grimbot, using the parts from this toy for the physical body, making the more advanced code, tech and AI himself, in order to create the “perfect companion”, after losing Ubercorn. One that’s loyal to a fault, doing everything in his best interest. So with what little resource he had left after hitting rock bottom, the first Grimbot comes to light.
Making more came later, naturally, perfecting the tech and making alterations to the looks to be more personalized to the image he was making for himself, which explains things like the Grimbots having differently coloured buttons to the first Grimbot, and the expansion on abilities. Tweaking and nailing down the AI they use to think- likely a “learning AI” where they function under the objective of “what is the quickest / easiest way to accomplish (goal)”.
Reminder that this is all just speculation!

SONIC PRIME S3 E1 SPOILERS
Okay so WOW!!
I knew Nine would be a formidable foe but holy shit he pulls no punches! I think the villain trope of kid with too much power is so so good when done right and the writers are killing it! Idk if he was intentionally trying to mess with Sonic's head by designing the grimbots to look like his friends or if he was just being resourceful, but yikes!! The robots all look super cool, and I need to see Rusty Rose fight Grim Rose asap.
The Sonic and Shadow bonding was delightful. I'm curious if as the season goes on, Sonic will start to prioritize Shadow like he's used to doing to Tails.

Wizard Flimpetyflomps & His Magic Spoons
One stormy night, Wizard Flimpetyflomps met with Little Bear and Uncle Bear to discuss the magic spoons. Little did they know, Grandmaster Glitch was watching from the distance, plotting…
The bears suggested Flimpetyflomps should speak to his brother about the Magic Spoons, so he hopped into his car and headed off to the City at the Centre of the Earth.
When the road ended in swampy marshland, Flimpetyflomps found an old friend waiting with the vehicles that would take him on the next part of his journey. Time to do things the pirate way!
As the swampy marsh gave way to jungle, Flimpetyflomps bade farewell to Kwazi and continued on foot. Soon he came to the home of another friend, Dave the Dinosaur. Here he rested for the night and feasted on Dave’s fabulous pineapples and coconuts.
The next morning, Flimpetyflomps thanked Dave for letting him stay the night, then heading off through the trees on the final overland part of his journey. This time, he had help from a friend who was very good at finding his way through the jungle.
Flimpetyflomps arrived at a huge mountain, at the base was a tunnel entrance. Some train tracks lead into the tunnel and a friendly blue tank engine was waiting for him. He laid his spoons down in the truck at the back and climbed aboard. Waving goodbye to Tracker, he entered the tunnel and was soon heading down, down, down, towards the City at the Centre of the Earth.
Then there was trouble! As Thomas and Flimpetyflomps zoomed down the tunnel, Grandmaster Glitch pulled up behind them on Tom Moss and one of his Grimbots flew over and took the magic spoons! “At last!” yelled Glitch, “the spoons are mine, nothing can stop me now!”.
It was a very sad Flimpetyflomps who chuffed into the City at the Centre of the Earth the next morning. He’d lost the spoons! He made his way through the streets and over the Lava River towards his brother’s house. His brother would know what to do, after all, he was the Mayor of the City, but more importantly, he was also…
…Father Christmas! “Oh Flimpetyflomps” he said. “The spoons! We must get them back!” “I know,” said Flimpetyflomps. “They’ve not been out of my sight since the Wood Witch entrusted them to me all those years ago. Grandmaster Glitch mustn’t be allowed to unlock their power!” “It’s Ok” said Father Christmas, “I have a plan. Come inside.”
“Now that he has the spoons, Grandmaster Glitch will probably try and head back to Mars” said Father Christmas. “Little Bear and Uncle Bear have been orbiting the Earth in Little Bear’s space rocket, keeping an eye out for Grim HQ. We’re going to head there now in my sleigh to meet with some other friends who are going to help us”. So they climbed into Father Christmas’s sleigh and headed up the tunnel, out of the mountain and up into the night sky.
Once aboard the space rocket, Flimpetyflomps and Father Christmas found three people waiting with the bears in the control room. Ubercorn had lots of experience foiling Grandmaster Glitch’s plans, so he and the Go Jetters offered to search the skies and help the others with some funky facts about Glitch and his Grimbots. Captain Barnacles said he and the Octonauts would spread out in their gups and cover the oceans, while Ryder and the Paw Patrol searched on land. “Team Flimpetyflomps,” said Captain Barnacles, “let’s do this!”.
After the others had gone, Father Christmas met with Flimpetyflomps in the docking bay. “I have to return to the City” he said. “Glitch is sure to come after our Crystal next, without it the City won’t be able to survive, and who knows what Glitch could do if he managed to combine the power of the Crystal with the power of the Spoons”. He left in his sleigh and Flimpetyflomps headed back to the control room to speak to the Bears.
The Bears suggested that Flimpetyflomps visit each of the helping teams at their headquarters to help them understand the Spoons. Little Bear let the wizard borrow his mini rocket and he soon found himself heading down towards the cloudy skies of Earth. Alone with his thoughts for the first time in days, he realised how much he missed the Spoons.
First of all, Flimpetyflomps visited the Go Jetters who were handling the air search from Jet Pad. He told them how the Wood Witch had carved him the Magic Spoons when he was a young wizardling. He’d used them for his spells ever since and they could channel the old wild magic that came from nature. In return, Ubercorn showed him 3 funky facts about Grandmaster Glitch. Flimpetyflomps agreed to pass this on to the others.
Next Flimpetyflomps visited the Paw Patrol in Adventure Bay. He passed on the funky facts from Ubercorn and talked about the Magic Spoons and what to look out for. The pups said they would search from Foggy Bottom to Barkingburg and not stop looking until the Spoons were found. Flimpetyflomps thanked them then climbed back into the little rocket and prepared to activate underwater mode.
And finally Flimpetyflomps visited Captain Barnacles and Kwazi in the Octopod. They told him that all the Octonauts, including the Vegimals, were out in the gups searching the rivers and oceans, from the sunlight zone to the midnight zone, for traces of rust and moustaches. “If he’s out there we’ll find him, you mark my words” said Barnacles.
Meanwhile, Grandmaster Glitch had found a very foggy place to hide. He shook the spoons angrily. “Why won’t they work?” he complained. “Grimbots! Make them work!”. “Maybe I can help,” said a shadowy, behatted figure emerging from the fog. “After all, us moustachioed miscreants should probably stick together.”
As Glitch listened to Mayor Humdinger’s plan, little did he know that this time he was the one being watched. Three heroes in a gup on a foggy beach heard everything that was said. “Oh no!” said Peso. “We must stop them from reaching the Planet of Custard or else all is lost! Sound the Octo-alert!”
After Peso, Chase and Xuli made their report, the leaders met in the Paw Patrol Pup Tower to come up with a plan. “We need to get the Spoons back before Glitch and Major Humdinger leave for the Planet of Custard,” said Flimpetyflomps. “Now we know where they are, we’ll have to send in a team to retrieve them tonight. Each of you must pick your best person for this job. Tell them to meet me in Jet Pad in one hour for a mission briefing”.
An hour later, three heroes stood before Flimpetyflomps in Jet Pad. The wizard outlined his plan. They were to sneak into Foggy Bottom late at night when Glitch and the Mayor were asleep. Kyan would use his fantastic gymnastics to jump into one of Grim HQ’s chimney stacks. He would then open the door and let the others in. Chase could sniff out the Spoons with his police dog’s nose and Kwazi could use his pirate sword fighting skills to deal with any Grimbots. The plan was complete, now they only had to wait for night to fall…
And as soon as it was dark, they were off. Jet Pad swooped silently down over Foggy Bottom. Chase was the first to jump off, his senses alert for any signs of Grimbots or kittens. Kwazi was second, and for once he was silent and stuck to the plan. Kyan was last, leaping to the ground with his fantastic gymnastics. Jet Pad vanished up into the mist, and they were on their own.
As they followed Chase’s nose through the darkness, two Grimbots suddenly emerged from the fog. “I’ll handle these scurvy dogs Mateys” said Kwazi, “you go on ahead and get those Spoons!” So Chase and Kyan ran on towards the huge blob of darkness ahead that was Grim HQ. Kyan crouched down then leapt up as high as he could. He landed with a soft clang on the roof of Glitch’s ship and immediately dove into the nearby chimney stack.
Kyan slid down the chimney stack and landed with a bump in the cold, metallic darkness. “Now to find the door controls and let Chase in,” he thought to himself. “It’s so dark, I think I’ll activate my night vision visor rather than use a torch”. He activated his visor and immediately jumped back, startled at the green figure who he suddenly saw before him. “Going somewhere Kyan?” said Glitch.
“You’re all alone and trapped in my HQ little No Jetter” said Glitch. Suddenly there was an almighty bang and a crash, and the HQ was flooded with bright light. “No Go Jetter is ever truly alone” said Ubercorn. “Nor is a friend of mine” said Flimpetyflomps. “Give it up Glitch, Mayor Humdinger has fled and you’re the one who is alone”. “Grimbles!” said Glitch in a little voice.
A defeated Glitch showed Flimpetyflomps where the Spoons were hidden in a treasure chest. The wizard opened it and immediately the Spoons began to glow as they recognised their true guardian. “At last” said Flimpetyflomps as tears of joy filled his eyes. He picked up the Spoons, and turned to face his friends who cheered and shouted with joy. The Magic Spoons were safe, the World was saved.
Flimpetyflomps turned away from his friends. The Magic Spoons overflowed with joyful, magic bubbles, but the wizard was worried. Now that Glitch and his associates knew about the Spoons, they would surely try to take them again. He would have to find somewhere safe to hide them, but first…
…a victory parade! Flimpetyflomps was given a special escort along the road to Flimpetyflomps Castle. Crowds of people lined the route, cheering and waving, all happy that the Spoons were safe. Flimpetyflomps smiled and waved back, but he knew he had a tough decision to make once he was home. Where to hide the Magic Spoons?
Back in his castle, Flimpetyflomps headed to his spoonery, sighed and sat at his desk. He used the Magic Spoons to create a conduit spoon so he could use them from afar. He then wrapped them in brown paper and whispered a spell. The Spoons disappeared. They would be safe on Bramble Hill with their new guardians, Arthur & Elwyn.
The End.

@grimbot I began this series of drawings with the simple aim of improving my portraits, so I tried to limit my colours as much as possible to reduce the number of variables. This forced me to solve problems in unusual ways, and I liked the strangeness of the resulting images. I quickly realised I didn’t have to use traditional skin tones to create a convincing face. https://theflyingfruitbowl.co.uk/2022/10/25/james-grimwood/ Link in bio! 👀 #fineart #art #realism #fineartist #artistssupportingartists #fineartistsoninsta #painting #portraitpainting #realismart #artist #artisttofollow #artpodcast #submityourwork #figurative #contemporaryart #artistsupport #artists #emergingartist https://www.instagram.com/p/CkIyHKNoNpz/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
