Our season 2 started with two guests from @thehadesprojectpod, Jupiter (@spaceeggscreams) and Erin, playing with Izze and Dirk.

They played Ech0 by Role Over Play Dead. Three siblings wander between decrepit mechs turned playground, leading the ghost of a dead pilot to their final resting place.

The Hades Project is a sci-fi horror audio drama about the crew of the USS Hades and their trip to Pluto. It seems to be going well, until things start going wrong.

It also has Stabby the Roomba.

Inspired by Wolf 359 and similar podcasts, this show has a delightful cast and an engaging storyline that will grab you and hold you until it's done with you.

The Hades Project is a science fiction, horror podcast that follows the crew of The Hades as they journey on an exploration project to the planet of Pluto.

Their goal? A reconnaissance mission to see if the planet can be used for jailing convicts.

Hi, I'm Bri! I work on The Hades Project and I started this blog as a fun way to keep messing around with the show while we're between seasons! You may have seen this type of thing on Twitter, that one's also me!

What's The Hades Project you may ask? Well up above this message is the show's pitch! Hades Project is a podcast inspired by other space podcasts about a crew who are sent to Pluto in order to determine how well the planet could be used for holding convicts, but what the crew doesn't realize is that they're in for more than just an easy trip.

From knife wielding roombas to potential ghost demons on the vents, this ship has everything! Just be sure to read the trigger warnings of each episode

Personally I'm the creator and voice of Mal Paulitious! Our crew manifesto (which can be found on Twitter @HadesProjectPod) has this to say about her "A chemical pathologist with an optimism that outshines the stars around them. Mal is warm and friendly, with a desire to help everyone around her. Oh, and she wears a quilted plague mask." Yes, the quilted plague mask is very important to her character 😂

But we also have many other lovable characters such as "grumpy captain who's not here to make friends", "commander who has to struggle to keep her idiot scientists from killing themselves", and even "a depressed scientist just doing their best. No, not that one! Not that one either! No, the other one! How many sad scientists are on this ship???"

the dynamic of demigods thinking which other demigod is the most powerful is always amusing to me because. like, we know the big 3 kids are all the most powerful. That's just a fact of their universe. And then we know nearly every character views Percy as the strongest demigod, and most people are very rightfully intimidated by him.

and you look at the powers of the Big 3 kids and there's Percy, but then you realize Nico is just kind of objectively more powerful than him but simply chooses to hang out in Percy's shadow like he's Percy's scary dog privileges. Like, the two of them are pretty equally capable of causing multiple different apocalypses. Nico just also has like four different instakill powers and it's not like he doesn't use them. He very much uses them! Not infrequently, even! And they don't seem to take a significant amount of energy from him! And other demigods are pretty intimidated by both of them! But Nico makes a conscious point to keep his cards close to his chest and not let on exactly how dangerous and scary he can be if he wants to. People are already scared enough of him without knowing anything about him and he doesn't like that. Percy doesn't think about that nearly as much, and so usually just goes in guns blazing and that's part of why he's considered a wildcard. And then Nico himself puts Percy on a pedestal, so those who do know more about Nico's abilities then presume Nico knows something they don't about Percy that implies Percy is even stronger than him.

And even on a meta level Nico's narrative role requires him to be functionally more powerful than Percy, because he very often serves the purpose of getting Percy out of situations he can't handle on his own. That's just part of his function as a character! But also narratively he can't overshadow Percy so he just takes a backseat of his own accord and that's very amusing to me.

This project is officially out of hand - I swore 3 months ago that I won't expand it to clones territory, I really won't, and look where I am now! I also had to double down on Rex, if I'm here and have accepted defeat, as I finally got around to watching Rebels and I just love him so much with that beard, and his freckles omg TTnTT (I really really wouldn't mind seeing him in the Ahsoka show either, please)

i don't know how the timeline works in hades but imagine before hades 2, zag's talking to the shades waiting in the great hall about melinoe like "oh, my baby sister is so cute, I think she's coming back from her witch boarding school soon" and they assume she's a sweet adorable kid bc that's all he's been talking about

but then emerging from the river styx with blood dripping from her shoulders is this tween whose looks could kill you, and her face lights up when she sees her brother and launches herself at him and then fucking bites him

On the topic of "don't pre-order games! Wait until you know it's a finished product!"

Stop playing Early Access titles. Unless it's a "pre-order and play 3 days early" you're not accessing anything early. That's the state of the game in the now. That's what it is. You're paying full price for an unfinished product, with no promise it ever will be finished.

I'm so tired of seeing a new game "come out" and it's not finished, and I have two choices

Wait for it to actually be finished, perhaps over a year from now. Get hype for it. Watch other people have fun playing it. It comes out. I've lost interest in the meantime. It is now an "old" game despite just now coming out. It's old news. It was a flavor of the month last year

Or actually play Early Access. Do all the stuff there is to do. It's not much. Kind of boring. Frustrated that I'm locked out of so much content. Wait a few patch cycles for it to be "really good" and before I decide to come back to it because there's enough new content compared to when I played. That day never comes. The game is released. I only really remember that it was a percentage of being considered fun and it wasn't really that good, and I don't want to replay back through all the progress I've lost. I don't feel like playing on release.

EA is inherently a cash grab. Its either a death knell for a studio desperate to finish a project, or it's outsourced QA that pays the dev. It's not a fun little treat for all our devoted fans who really just want to help out the little guy.

They've turned "gamers don't want us releasing unfinished games" in their favor. They flipped it onto you where you're perfectly excited to be SOLD an unfinished game, on purpose, to your face.

All of this obviously with a grain of salt. BG3 clearly had a full game waiting in the wings you were just locked out of. Likely the same with Hades II right now. But take the time to consider if you're just burning yourself out on a game that you won't be able to come back and enjoy when it's actually done. Consider if it even seems like it will ever be done.
