#the hunger games trailer
Predictions for the final Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes trailer tomorrow!!!
I think this trailer will lean into the nostalgia and reflect on the original series. I think that is necessary in order for casual viewers to understand the gist of this movie. We see Katniss (singing The Hanging Tree...) and see President Snow watching her... then go from to young Coriolanus. I absolutely love the first trailer (one of my favorites for the franchise!), but I noticed some people were confused about what was happening.
I am actually okay if they lean into some comparisons with the original franchise, because I want people to have the same hype for this film. The changes between current Panem and Panem of Ballad are some of the most fascinating, key elements of the book, so it would make sense anyway.
More Sejanus!!!
A trailer that follows the first Hunger Games trailer would work well. Show more of the events leading up to the Reaping (like seeing Snow's status, his penthouse, his relationships with Tigris and the Grandma'am). Show the mentors more, and focus on the tributes at the Reaping. Establish Snow's stakes with the mentorship.
THEN, like that first trailer, show the prep. The awful treatment (like the zoo), then how the Games start to revolutionize. Bringing in Lucky. The interviews.
Now we get to the arena and, unlike the first trailer, I do think they should show more of the action. Casual viewers want the arena action. (Even though it is my least favorite part of the book.)
I do not want to see as much from District 12. (My favorite part of the book!) If they want to show more action scenes, a glimpse of the arena bombing would be cool. Or when Snow has to sneak into the arena. Actually, I think Snow sneaking in will be the one of the best scenes in the movie, so seeing more of that would be nice.
Obviously... it has to end with Lucy singing The Hanging Tree. I predicted the first trailer would use that as its music. I could see her singing being woven throughout, but then she fully sings the song by the end.
I am just so hyped and can't believe we are so close to the movie! But I am also sad that this is the last Hunger Games trailer we will get. I am sure I posted the same thing on here back in 2015, so who knows...

The Hunger Games Renaissance. The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes (2023), dir. Francis Lawrence
Are you, are you comin' to the tree? Where they strung up a man, they say, who murdered three. Strange things did happen here, no stranger would it be. If we met at midnight in the hanging tree. Are you, are you comin' to the tree? Where dead man called out for his love to flee? Strange things did happen here, no stranger would it be. If we met at midnight in the hanging tree.

I don't know what happened but I fell into the Evka/Antoine pit overnight after rereading parts of Tevinter Nights, and there's only a handful of things when I search for them so I'm adding to that pile myself!!
They've appeared multiple times in short stories and even the comics so I'm just waiting for DA4 stuff like "👀". Bioware pls give us the cute Wardens (preferably alive and well shjhfg but I'm expecting them to hurt me emotionally anyway bc this is DA after all, and there's been so much foreshadowing ;;v;;)

Not my usual content but just wanted to say with the Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes hype right now (I’m so excited) I’ve been surprised by how many people I’ve seen saying they didn’t realise that Snow’s first name was Coriolanus because they thought it was Cornelius, I don’t know where that’s come from but it means you’re missing out on the symbolism of his name!! And I love the symbolism of his name so I wanted to talk about it.
“Coriolanus” is the title and main character of a Shakespeare okay based in the life of legendary Roman hero Gnaeus Marcius Coriolanus. I want to be clear this is not a play I have personally studied so I’m not an expert! But the play is about politics and particularly the power that language can have in politics, and anything Coriolanus lacks in language ability he makes up for with violence. He has attachments to only feminine figures in his small family despite being presented as a stereotypically masculine figure himself, and his ultimate tragic flaw is his pride and arrogance. It is possibly notable that in the play Coriolanus is a high-born noble of Rome whilst Snow struggles for livelihood in the Capital, but I think it’s really important that his situation never led him to feel empathy for anyone else, particularly in the districts, the way it did Tigris.
“Coriolanus also explores the questions of what makes someone a hero, and whether or not one can be both a hero and a real human”
It is a while since I’ve read the books but I think there are very clear parallels to draw from the key themes of the Shakespeare play and the character arc of Suzanne Collins’ character, and I find that really interesting.
However, as I said, I have not studied Coriolanus myself so if anyone has and has anything to add or dispute please do so, I would love to hear more I’m genuinely very interested
